We tried Michy's tonight for the first time and it was not good. Was it just a bad night? We have heard such great things. We live locally and have somehow just not gone here. The shrimp appetizer was soaked in mayonnaise. My halibut special was almost inedible - so much salt and pepper that I could barely choke it down. I didn't send it back only because I had flown in today and was STARVING. My husband had the chicken Milanese and it was very dry and tasteless. But the worst of it was we had a 7:30 reservation and they told us to come early because they thought they could get us in at 6:30. We waited until 7:50 for our table. When we asked why they told us to come early they seemed surprised and asked who said that because our reservation was for 7:45. It wasn't. I don't think we will ever come back. It was a surprise how welcoming she was after the asshole who answered the door wanted to give us the worst table in the entry, even though we had a reservation. The woman intervened and it was all uphill from that moment. Food was very good, atmosphere was interesting, if they had a better welcoming person I would have given 5 stars. Apparently this is a popular restaurant. Not at all customer friendly. Open 5-9. We arrived at 4:45 with reservations. The front door was open but we were told we need to wait til our 5pm reservation. It was 90° outside but we were not welcome to sit in the air conditioned porch area for 15 minutes. If we didn't have a prepaid dinner we would now be reviewing another restaurant. High marks for the server and the meal. I for one am not impressed by the snooty attitude of the establishment. First time here but it won't be the last . Small restaurant ( make sure you make a reservation) located at the end of a strip malll so there is plenty of parking. The staff was very friendly and helpful. For appetizers we had the flash fried calamari and the firecracker shrimp. Both were lightly fried and had a nice spicy sauce with it. For dinner-- sea scallops, sea bass,, salmon and the braised short ribs. Meals came out quickly and hot. All 4 of us were very happy with the dinners. I restaurant interior is eclectic, inviting and comfortable. The server was knowledgeable and very in touch with the dishes served and was not afraid to make recommendations when asked. Now let's get to the food. Prices very reasonable for 5 star food. The scallop entree was delicious and scallops bigger than I have ever seen before. This place...this place has my heart and never, ever lets us down. Perfect food and amazing cocktails at every, hands down, every visit. Wonderful staff, great atmosphere, everything is perfect. So I've lost track of how many years that we've been coming, but, we've definitely been with Michele and Richard from the start. I am a creature of habit and always pick one of three choices for my entrée, but bolognaise usually wins out, it's just the best! Scallops are amazing and their fillet, when available, rivals any steak house in the area. Tonight though, tonight I stretched out of my box. This warm weather put me in the mood, after my amazing cucumber cocktail, for a fish dish. Tonight I ordered the fresh tile fish with roasted cauliflower and rice with a curry sauce, OMG, OMG, orgasmic...can I say that but it was. The way all those flavors came together was fantstkc! Richard is truly and amazing chef and that was an amazing dinner. This team of Wonderful, wonderful humans just gets it right and, I have to add, because I know I am a PIA customer, they sure never make me feel that way. I had a really nice meal here. I had low expectations because the name is kind of odd and I just picked this place due to its close proximity to my Airbnb. Just wanted something within walking distance for dinner. I came alone (Wednesday evening at around 730pm) and they were very busy. I couldn't get a table without a reservation so they encouraged me to sit at the bar. I ended up sitting on the couch by the bar actually - there was a little table. Loved my meal. Had the poached pear salad and the tuna sashimi. Everything was excellent. They gave me bread as well. Decent craft beer options. The cocktails sounded really good too although I just stuck to beer. Really friendly and fast service. They close pretty early but I think that might apply to most restaurants in the area. read more

You could almost call me a regular here now. Michele and Richard are great and they have done wonders in a space that traditionally has not done well. Food is second to none in Rehoboth and my wife and I are rapidly working our way through the menu. Staple great dishes are, the Calamari as previously mentioned in a review, excellent. The pork chop or the short rib for meat lovers, both are expertly prepared and so full of flavor and oh so tender. My wife keeps getting the scallops, cooked to perfection and very high quality product. Salads and home made soups are a great addition and plenty more on the menu to try. Wait staff and bartenders are all very friendly and the open style kitchen lets you see the kitchen hard at work preparing your food. Superb food without the traffic of downtown. read more

Michy's is diamond located in a really crummy-looking shopping center, but don't judge a book by its cover. This restaurant is amazing and always packed! You must call call ahead for reservations, since they only have 15 tables. The bar is first come first serve and is also always packed! The service here is 5-star, they have excellent customer service. Everything we've had here from appetizers, entrees, drinks, and desserts is amazing! Food is cooked fresh. The drinks are interesting and unique. We had the Michy's Margarita, Mojito, and a special Watermelon Habanero Margarita - shew, it had a kick to it! This restaurant is more on the pricey end, but you definitely get what you pay for, fresh well-cooked meals with wonderful ingredients, they are also pretty generous portions. For appetizers I LOVE the Fire Cracker Shrimp! Had a crispy tempura batter covered in Sriracha mayo w/ scallions + crushed peanuts. Delicious!! I also love the Calamari Flash Fried is has a Szechuan-style and garlic chili sauce w/ sesame seeds and scallions. A little tomatoey tasting, but delicious!! For a salad the Iceburg Wedge was good it had creamy buttermilk and blue cheese dressing with apple wood smoked bacon, cherry tomatoes and blue cheese crumbles. MmmmMmmmm The entrees were amazing, left me stuffed! Take a look at the pictures I took. Loved the Shrimp n' Grits, Certified Angus Beef Tenderloin, and Beef Burger. I would definitely recommend Michy's, if you wanted to try a higher-end restaurant in the area. (My husband and I previously worked in the restaurant business for many years and were very surprised, considering the Yelp reviews and overall decor of the place.)The calamari was much smaller in portion size and presentation was much simpler than what was pictured on the website. I have had sea bass many times and it was the worst quality of fish I have ever experienced. We postulated that chef may have tried to save money in buying a cheaper cut of fish, but it was also quite fishy. Consequently, the seasoning was too strong and unpalatable. Even so, our waiter was attentive, the food runners were efficient, and the decor and ambiance were pleasant. Overall, very good service, despite the rough-around-the-edges hostess/manager.
