Midas in Concord on Monument Blvd was a long and good experience. Techs John and Richard were knowledgeable and cared about my car. Josephine was kind and willing to research all my questions and concerns. I had to wait for a part that was broken in my tire, Midas showed me the part, where it went and why; and when the supplier gave a 2-3 hour window for arrival, Midas came up with options. Picking up my car Fadi was waiting to answer all my questions and take time to go over my invoice. I will return and I recommend Midas. read more

I normally bring my car to the Lexus dealer for oil change , last minute Labor Day weekend plans did not allow me the time to schedule an appointment with the dealer so I ended up here . Advertised $49.99 special for synthetic oil change and tire rotation . I was also advised 2 of the filters needed replacing - okay fine , overall total was $150.00 , I paid with no problem . First issue my keys were misplaced for just under 10 minutes . Once my keys were found I went to place my laptop in my trunk only to find my trunk was not popping open - they had their " Master Mechanic" take a look , he states they never popped my trunk and whatever is going on is no fault of theirs .They suggest I get my fuses checked , I'm starting to feel distressed at this point as I am leaving for the weekend and will need to place my luggage in the trunk . It is what it is , I start my car to leave and I notice the AIR SENSOR LIGHT WARNING is illuminated - again I walk back into the facility , the answer I first get is " oh , you have to drive your car for a few miles , like 2 or 3 miles and it will reset " .. I immediately disagree because this has NEVER occurred at the Lexus dealer . The " Master Mechanic " brings my car back to the garage area for approx 10 minutes , he then states " I reset sensor to 30 so it should be ok , just drive it a few miles " .. I did not understand what RESET SENSOR meant , I reluctantly accept his explanation and proceed to leave once again . I start my car , turn on my air conditioner and a horrible loud noise began to hum . At this point I'm like WTF ? I communicate the noise , the " Master Mechanic " tells me the filter in the glove compartment was upside down . Apparently he did not check to see if flipping the filter eliminated the noise because I got in my car once again to find the noise continued - this time Jerry starts looking at the filter under my hood that was replaced , he can't figure out the noise - he states because my filter has been changed the force of the air entering the cabin is now greater , therefore enhancing the noise of the air conditioner .. I call BS.. I tell Jerry I want to file a formal complaint of everything wrong with my car and I want to follow up with a phone call to corporate , Jerry refused to provide me with the phone number . Time is of the essence to me , at this point I have been at their facility for 2 hours ! I decide to leave , I drive 3 miles from the facility - the sensor light is still on .I pull my car over , hunt down the corporate number - they referred me to their Vallejo facility . On my drive to the facility I notice my car is pulling to the right and I am having to push extremely hard on my break pedal. . Of course I am questioning how all these problems arise from a simple oil change. I communicate all the mentioned concerns to the staff at Midas Vallejo , within 20 minutes Kevin and J.R Fixed all the issues on my car : The sensor light , brakes , and pulling to the right were a result of my tires being under deflated- they were at 30 rather than the 50 . The trunk wouldn't open because when they changed the cabin filter they inadvertently pushed a button in the glove compartment that locks the trunk - I never knew the button exists , but I would expect their " Master Mechanic " to be knowledgeable . The air conditioner noise was due to a leaf - they changed the filter but didn't bother to clear the debris before inserting the new cabin filter . I would not recommend this facility to anyone . My car was finally back in its regular condition around 4:30 pm. my appointment was at 10:30 am. I left a message on their business line informing them of all that was found wrong with my car , I requested a return phone call , I haven't heard from back from them , like I said it's been one week . read more

I took my fiancé's car in for an oil change and to get a power steering issue checked out due to noises while turning the wheel. I asked if they can take a look at it because the noise was pretty obvious. The manager said I would have to leave the car there over night to see if he can hear the noise. When the technician drove the car to the parking lot after the oil change, I told the manager that I can hear the power steering noise pretty clear from the waiting area. He refused to look into it and said I had to leave it overnight. This place didn't even check the fluid levels or told me there was a huge leak in the power steering hose and oil gasket! I took it to another Midas, which was a whole lot more friendly, the same day and they took a look at it right away. Fixed the problem having to "leave it over night." Never coming back to this location again. read more

Horrible and they do NOT tell the truth! Made the mistake of taking my Jeep in for a new exhaust. I told them I wanted everything replaced from the manifold to the tailpipe. I got a new catalytic converter and muffler. They installed the muffler backward which caused another trip, they put a second muffler on. Less than a month later I was getting a horrible rotten egg smell from the exhaust. I took the Jeep to a different midas who informed me the only new items they had installed were the converter and muffler and that the converter was bad when they put it in. You have to fight with them constantly. Brian the manager simply lies constantly...he does it while smiling but a lie is a lie...if they tell you it will be 30 minutes, plan on 3 hours...they actually called me and told me my car was done. I had to wait for a cab to pick me up drive me to Midas, I arrived over an hour after they called and told me my car was done, when I arrived my car was still in the air and mechanics were still working on it. I could go on and on, but there are dozens of places to have your exhaust and cars worked on...if you are looking for honesty ease of service DO NOT GO TO CONCORD MIDAS! read more

I brought my wifes car in for new brakes. Simple right? I thought so. So like $400 later they were done and we were happy. Within a week we could hear them grinding again. Took it back and they said there was nothing wrong, they lubed em up and they should be fine. Ok, the noise didn't go away but it wasn't annoying and they told us the brakes were fine. Within a couple of months they started to pulsate. Went back again and they said that the brakes were fine but the reason they were shaking was the poor quality materials that the brake manufactuers used to make the pads that they installed. They said they could fix them by replacing the inferior pads (that they put on in the first place) but it would cost us another $150. And then they tried to sell us new tires. Idiots! read more

I wish I had read these reviews before I took my car to this Midas for brake replacement. I had possibliy the worst service today, May 29 2009, at this Midas in Concord, California. I have never seen such blatant display of dishonest business practice conducted by a branch office of a nationally-recognized chain before. Even one star seemed to be too generous of a rating. I took my 2007 Toyota Camry LE to the Concord Midas to have the rear brakes serviced today after calling around town to get the best quote. Needless to say, that quote was immediately invalid the moment I brought my car to the shop when the manage said an inspection must be performed. The manager then told me that the service would cost $219.18 total (including the tax and labor) after I requested to have the Ceramic brakes pads instead of the regular Organic brake pads. During the repair while I was watching the technician, I asked for the packaging of the pads that were installed in my car and the packaging clearly stated that the pads were "Organic" (BreakBest Disc Break Pads, Barcode#0-54199-00940-5, there a sticker on the box that read D1212, Organic, 09058) instead of "Ceramic". The manager was trying to pull a "bait and switch" on me. He told the technician to install Organic pads while charging me for the price of Ceramic pads, which I was told by another Midas shop in Walnut Creek that would cost around $50 more per axle. When I confronted the Manager, he insisted that he handed the wrong part to the tech by mistake. When I demanded that he deducted the difference between the Organic and Ceramic pads from my bill, he said that there's no difference in cost between the different pads. So I had to ask the manager to have the tech replaced the Organic pads with the Ceramic pads. He said something to the tech and then informed me that it would take at least another 2 hours when the original service that included performing the 55 point brake inspection, turning the rotors and replacing the pads took 2 and 1/2 hours. The funny thing was that the tech "supposedly" got the new pads installed in less than 15 minutes while the manager detained me in the front office by explaining to me how the screw-up occured due to the wrong part being delivered to him by a local supplier. I have no idea if the inferior Organic break pads were ever really replaced with the more expensive Ceramic pads that I already paid for because I wasn't there in the serive shop when I was basically tied up in the front desk by the manager's rather lame and obviously fabricated excuses. Another funny thing was that during the whole time I was there, I didn't see a single delivery truck delivering the supposedly out-of-stock brake pads when it's obvious that they have both Organic and Cermaic brake pads in their stock room. This is the kind of dishonest behavior for which Midas should discipline its branch managers because it basically eliminates any possibility of repeat businesses, especially when the manager tells one lie after another to cover his deceptive business practices. About 5 minutes later a worker comes in and the instead of assisting me, decided to pick up the phone that just rang. After another 5 months or so, he get off the phone and I tell him I need an oil change. The phone rings again and he stops assisting me to answer the phone again. I left after that. I purchased a Groupon for a full synthetic oil change at Midas. The oil change was done quickly--I was in and out in 30 minutes. But, I noticed oil on my garage floor after the oil change. I took my vehicle back to Midas and asked for the oil plug to be tighten. The Midas employee checked it out and informed me that the leak was from power steering fluid and not an oil leak. He handed me an estimate of $949 to remove and replace the power steering pump. I took my vehicle to my mechanic and he found that the oil pan was missing the drain bolt sealing, so he installed the gasket seal. Now, I no longer have oil leaking on my garage floor. I will never go to this Midas again. They cannot even do an oil change correctly and tried to get me to fix something that didn't need to be fixed. My mechanic said the power steering pump did not need to be replaced. read more

I had an appointment for them to inspect my muffler and was told that I needed to be there by five as they close at 6:00. I drove from Oakland to Concord, bad traffic made me fifteen minutes late--5:15. Their garage was empty- no cars in the bay. I explained to the first employee why I was there and he exclaimed--Now! at this time. I told him I was late, but still wanted the work done and I had driven from Oakland. We went inside and George was behind the desk. I again explained that I called in the am, but I was late. He said, "Yeah, but you were supposed to be here earlier." It was 5:15 and they did not close untill 6:00. Three employees there, no cars in the shop, and they were not willing to look at my car. I've been to a few Midas locations and this is by far my preferred location, I actually drive out of my way to get here because the Walnut Creek location is more convenient, but the owner over there is hard to work with. The staff at the Concord location is helpful and upfront, there is no sales pitch. You don't need your coupon for the oil change, they just offer the oil change at the lower price, which is unheard of at other locations. The waiting room has air conditioning, the tv has normally programming on to pass the time (nothing trashy) and the manager personally came out from his office to the waiting room and offered cookies from Costco to the customers waiting, yum! read more

I went here at first because I got a coupon, it was a pretty good deal (can't remember exactly-- around $30.) They were okay, and I went back a second time because they said they would honor that same price, even if I didn't have a coupon. I discovered after a month or so that they had not filled my windshield wiper fluid (I ran out-- it's not like I even use it often). I could have gone back and had them do it, but that's a hassle... more importantly, if they did not check/fill that fluid, it leads me to wonder if they checked the other fluids. Today I called to make another appointment. They had emailed me a coupon, but I can't find it. I told them this and asked if they would honor the coupon price. They have a whole coupon section on their website, which offers coupons for EVERYTHING EXCEPT OIL CHANGES. They said I'd need a coupon to get that price ($10 off), but that I could check their Walnut Creek location website or the Speedee oil website... I got annoyed, considering they had already emailed me one, and I mean... why not just give me the coupon price as a returning customer? So I called another place that is highly reviewed on Yelp, Above Car Care. Their regular price ($31) is the same as the price Midas offers with the coupon. So, I'd rather go somewhere that doesn't want to make me hunt for a stupid coupon. Combined with the fluid not being changed, I think I will have a better experience elsewhere. read more

I found this speedee's and I am so happy that I did. Stevie was such a great help and very sweet. She made me feel right at ease and even offered to call when my car was done.
