Marcos has not yet sent me the promised video that he claims had my car in view at all times while in possession of his employees. It's been several days now. He promised he would the send the video. He said he had cameras on the outside of his establishment and cameras on the inside of his establishment. An honest business should not make promises they don't intend to keep. As I presumed... he doesn't want to send it as it will show my passenger car door was damaged by his employees causing a dent/chip in paint. I have a new truck and now I have new damaged caused from my visit here. The video will also show the tires were never rotated that I paid for, it will show I likely got original oil and not synthetic oil that I paid for, it will show I never got my fuel system cleaned that I paid for. I spent 300.00 on these services. It is not lawful to cut corners to paying customers. It is a recession and I know money is tight, but give me a break. It is by law that a business at a minimum give a customer what they are paying for... this is false advertising if you bait and switch paying customers. And also illegal. Beware any paying customers they are super quick as they do not complete the service and you never know what your actually getting. They will also not give you paperwork showing what was checked. I recommend take pictures of your car before allowing them to take possession of your vehicle, if you don't they will not claim responsibility for the damage they cause on your vehicle. If you come here to Midas, you come at your own risk. I recommend just avoid this place all together so you don't have to go through what I went through. Looking at the rest of the reviews on Yelp and Google confirm I'm not the only one with concerns. At the end of the day, being an honest company is at a very minimum they should practice. If I knew, what I know now, I would never have come here and do not recommend to any friends or family to come here. Just save your time, energy, and research an alternative place. I have to admit, I was a bit hesitant to bring my vehicle to Midas at 3949 E Main St, Ventura, after reading some mixed reviews online. One review, in particular, caught my eye--it was a lengthy complaint about an oil change promotion that supposedly didn't apply to their vehicle. Despite the concerns, I decided to give Midas a chance, and I'm so glad I did! I drive a 1997 Toyota Camry, which, like the other customer mentioned, is an older model. I went in for an oil change and presented the same coupon that was advertised. To my surprise, Midas honored the deal without any issues. The key difference here is that my Camry takes less than 5 quarts of oil, so there was no need for any additional charges. The mechanics were upfront about everything, and there was no 'bait and switch'--just straightforward, honest service. Mark, the service writer, was incredibly professional and walked me through the entire process. He even showed me how much oil my vehicle needed, so there were no surprises. The shop was clean, the coffee bar was excellent, and the WiFi made the wait fly by. I also appreciated the detailed diagnostic they performed on my vehicle. They found that my front brakes were wearing down and took the time to show me the wear and tear before recommending any additional services. It was clear that their goal was to ensure my safety, not just to upsell unnecessary repairs. In short, my experience was completely different from what I read online. It's important to remember that some vehicles, like the one in the other review, require more than 5 quarts of oil, which might lead to additional charges. But if your vehicle falls within the standard range, you'll get exactly what's advertised. I walked away feeling like I got great value for my money and top-notch car service. I'd definitely recommend Midas in Ventura and will be returning for future maintenance. read more

Upon walking in, I was greeted immediately. The front desk staff helped me out right away. Both very professional. Initially, I came in due to a hole in my run flat tires and an alignment. It was not any longer than 15 minutes before they were bringing in my car.  The lobby was clean and very well presented. They provide seating, a complimentary coffee bar, television, and Wi-Fi. The viewing area of the shop was also a great addition as it is well presented and extremely clean, given that, well, it's an auto shop and you'd expect the opposite - not the case here. The staff all around was helpful and extremely easy to talk to. Very nice! I was also due for an oil change, which I opted to have done while replacing my tire. I was also offered a shuttle home if need be, which was great as I can see this being very beneficial to most. However, I was in no rush, so I stayed around. I have been here numerous of times, there are many locations nearby to kill time nonetheless. The attention to detail here is very keen, and this is one reason I come back. A complete multiple point inspection was done on my car, I was shown my cabin air filter, which I replaced as it was filthy with recent ash - those that are local that and reading this, I'd recommend! All in all, I enjoyed the professionalism and understanding of how much customer support means to the customer here. I cannot stress how well of a job all of the staff displayed and their resolving of any issues at hand.  I was never up-sold or offered anything unnecessary. Marco and his team took care of me. I left with comfort knowing my car was in a safe and working condition, they do it all here - not just mufflers. The billing was smooth and with no hidden charges, I was very happy with the service here. I'd recommend this place time and time again. read more

I went out today looking for a shock/strut shop for my 1997 Ford Explorer because, as my friend put it, it was Rollycoastery. So, I happened to be in Ventura, and did a search for a shock/strut shop that was in the area. I found Midas on Main Street in Ventura, CA and decided to take a risk and try them out. I went in, and told them my problem. They said to give them about 30 mins to check and see what the problem was. It didn't take them long (about 10 mins) before the manager came back and said, "Let me show you what we have found." I went to the area where they had my Explorer on a lift, and showed me the insane damage/shape my car was actually in! From really loose bearings, to extreme rotor damage! I had no idea that my car was in such bad shape, as no other shop/place I had been to before had said anything about it! So the manager quoted me a price, and replaced so many things for just under $2,000. Now I know that is a lot, and I don't usually have that much money, but I had been saving money and had just over $3,000 saved up so far. Let's just say, even though it took close to 2/3 of what I had saved up, it was a welcome relief as my car and I were in much better/safer shape! Thanks to the manager, and the other employees who were so very helpful! They were kind throughout the entire process, and it took a total of just about 3 hours from arriving there, having them find the problem, and completely revamping my car! Again, I'm so very pleased with the outcome and glad I took a risk on Midas! read more

With a bit of trepidation, and a *clearly* loud hole in my muffler (and who knows what else), I drove into the service area for the Midas Muffler on Main Street in Ventura today. From the start, Amos and Marco at the desk were professional and informative. Before signing anything they showed me my muffler system with my car up on the rack, explained what needed to be replaced, and why. (The exhaust pipe cracks and the 'big' muffler hole were glaringly obvious.) Later, they even showed me what they were replacing -- an older worn and clearly wimpy muffler, resonator, and pipe system -- with something far better. Even I could tell the difference! (A previous Midas Muffler shop in a small backwater town had installed a less than adequate system several years ago.) Something else that impressed me... While waiting, an elderly woman walking slowly with a cane and her daughter came thinking something was wrong with their newer car. They said, a bit confused and not realizing this wasn't a general car repair facility, that a tire might be low and that something didn't "feel "quite right. Even though they didn't come in with a muffler issue, the guys looked over the tires and even test drove their car and reported they were not experiencing anything out of the ordinary... all at no charge. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. We live out of town and figured we'd use a nationwide company to repair our car that we had just taken from my grandma. When we called Midas we told Marco our situation, that we needed an estimate on what repairs needed to be done to the car to have it in safe driving condition to drive from Ventura to Northern California. We told Marco that we didn't want to spend a lot of money on the car and he reassured us that after the repairs he had done that the car was in good condition and would last a long time. I took the train from Northern California with my 2 kids to pick up the car. After spending $1400 on repairs, we get into the car and start driving, within 10 minutes of leaving the car barely made it to our destination. In summary, the car needs a transmission, Marco NEVER told us this before he did the other repairs. We TOLD MARCO that we COULDN'T afford to spend a lot on the car and then he lied and said the car was in driving condition. Marco TOOK ADVANTAGE of us and it's disgusting that they are still in business. When we contacted the main office they didn't offer any resolution either. Now the car is sitting in Southern California and can't be driven. Thanks for ripping us off and making a hard situation even worse!!!!! DON'T EVER USE MIDAS! read more

More than mufflers! I needed to have all new tires installed on my 2010 Camry. I had priced purchase and installation from several tire centers in the area, when a co-worker recommended Midas. I didn't expect them to be able to match the best price I received, but I decided to call them anyway. I spoke with Marco, and without even revealing the best price I had been quoted elsewhere, he quoted me a price that was significantly lower. It gets better. I dropped off my car the next morning and was given a time estimate of about an hour (I thought to myself, right!). Although, time was not of great concern to me, because one of the staff gave me a ride to work, and I wasn't planning on picking up my car until that afternoon anyway. Well, an hour later I got the call that it was ready for pick up. When I received the bill, guess what? No hidden charges. Better yet, no attempts to up-sell me on services or bogus warranties that I didn't need. Heck, you can't even order fast food without getting the up-sell pitch! I now know that Midas does a lot more than mufflers. In fact, they are full-service auto mechanics. My car is due for a tune up soon, and I will be bringing it here for all future work. I've been going to the same place since I moved to Ventura, but lately I just couldn't afford it so I stopped going all together. I drive past Midas often and had some spare time so I went in for the managers special. Seemed like more than that because they're pretty much saving my life and my "beasts" (99 chevy suburban) life. They took it in right away to get it done as Marco explained everything to me and when it was almost finished he let me know some things they found wrong. I know nothing about cars so I told him I trust them to do a good job. He was very friendly in explaining what was wrong and what everything meant and actually told me the cost of everything that needs to be fixed (most places don't tell me how much it will cost, or give this crazy expensive price). He even helped me figure out how I'd pay for the work, which is far cheaper than I expected it would be. Overall my experience here was great and I can't wait to get that beast fixed so my steering wheel stops locking up on me while driving. It's amazing to see businesses up and running and not skipping a beat amidst a pandemic. This Midas location is certainly top tier for such. I run a small electrical business and have a small fleet of vans that help run my business. I could not find not a single shop that would take in my trucks for service as they were all over due for service. I had taken them to a local dealership as well and their next available was not until next month! I had called Midas and they were able to get all my trucks in on the same day - should have called them first *face palm*. I had all of my trucks brought to Midas. Marco, my service writer took great care of the trucks. Every truck was inspected, oil changed, and some needed new sets of tires. I also had an issue with a truck that had a check engine light on. The light was diagnosed within an hour and ultimately repaired. I was very happy with my vehicles being repaired in such a timely manner. At this point it's difficult to even find a shop that'll take a car/truck in. Thanks to all the staff at Midas. I hope to one day bring in my '71 impala. read more

These guys have been great to us. If you're looking for an honest mechanic, this is your place. They won't try to sell you something you don't need. That being said, listen if they do tell you that you need something on your car. The guys have gone out of their way multiple times to help me out, all while never looking for anything in return. I can't say enough good about the shop. It's really nice to find a good and honest mechanic that's local and trustworthy. This business is also up to standard with COVID19 precautions and procedures, everyone was wearing a mask, maintaining a six foot distance, and they limited the amount of people in the lobby when it was busy for them, it was really great to see. They also offer pick-up and delivery services for those who have underlying conditions and do not want to leave their house. Definitely will be bringing back my vehicles here! read more

My brakes had been making noise for a while now and so I took my car there today and had them look at my car. I needed new brakes which was not a problem. I was so grateful that I took my car there because they did service check and found my main belt was really bad and if I was driving and it broke I was not going any where. They were very professional and friendly. Marco the manager and Amos the owner were wonderful. I didn't get the tech's name who did the work but kudos to all the staff including the young lady who help me make my appointment. Usually i try and go to fire stone for my automotive checkups, but this time i went ahead and tried the Midas location in Ventura because i was really due for an oil change and just couldn't wait any longer. since it is right around the corner from my daughters school, i thought it would be great to just get it done a few hours before and just shoot up the street. I was Very impressed with the quickness and efficiency that Midas provided, and with a 24.99 oil change plus tire rotation and Courtesy check, its just an unbeatable price. i ended up saving a few extra dollars then what i would have at my usual car service place. Midas impressed me today. I was mildly skeptical about coming in for an alignment, as one should be, but was proven wrong. I asked about the basic cost of the job and the process was fast, Marcos had me chillin waiting for my car in no time. I was approached shortly after about my tires and was not at all pressured into a "sell". After contemplating the suggestion, and his suggestion was accurate, I decided to go through w buying new tires. Not only did I receive a discount for a couple pairs of performance tires but a free alignment as well! Point is, if you're looking for honest people and a job well done. Do not come here as you will not get the services that you pay for. I know nothing about cars and put my trust in midas with my Sedan. I have been coming here for a very long time and I am upset that the quality I thought was receiving the last visit is very underwhelming. Additionally, tires not rotated when I was told they were. I will now go to my local dealership as I know I can get great quality and honest service at a affordable price. Every time I come here Mark, Marco and Christian are always on their A-Game! My car is always taken care of and I feel that I personally am taken care of. They go the extra mile to walk me through what needs to be done and has been done to my car. We recently took our car in because the check engine light came on and the oil light was flashing. Mind you this was odd because we had recently gone to Jiffy Lube for an oil change just a few weeks prior. They found dust essentially where oil should have been. They were able to fix the issue which jiffy lube should have found right away and alerted us of. Took care of our car and even identified a few minor things that we needed to take care of in the future. This was all done with excellent customer service. We will absolutely be going back in the future for any of our car maintenance needs. read more
