I always love coming to Miguel's Jr. It's delicious with low expense. I went there tonight to get a bomb BRC with a friend. The customer service was friendly and super quick. Never have I been disappointed with this place. Towards the time of close, I went to go grab a bag for my leftovers and I waited at the counter for the cashier to return from whatever she was doing. A female kitchen cook noticed that I was waiting for someone to come to the counter. She hollered at the cashier from behind the grill, but she did it in Spanish . As a white girl, I did take Spanish up until Spanish 2 which is intermediate . I feel that the cook didn't know I could understand Spanish , but I caught her saying "Blanca" when she was describing me standing in the front. I realized slowly what she said and I was definitely offended that she had to describe me as being white, or even describe me at all. Not knowing that I knew what she said , she gave me a smile and quickly I returned it. It didn't hit me until I got my to go bag that it really bothered me. I felt that it was rude to speak like this in front of me, and ESPECIALLY if the employee thought I didn't know what she was saying. It doesn't make me feel that I can fully trust the staff now, unfortunately . I'm only giving a two star rating for the quality of food and the friendly service in the beginning of my order. The food was ok. It at least was fresh tasting and not greasy. However the portion size was tiny. I got the carne asada street tacos and they seemed tinier than most, with very little inside them. My husband got the Miguel Jr original burrito with carne asada and there was little to no meat. Mostly all beans. The restaurant was clean and the service good. Let me give you guys the rundown here as an employee the pay is good but the hospitality from the managers is horrible if you dont speak spanish they discriminate against you. I do my job by all means i go out my way to go above & beyond and stay out peoples way. i do my job nothing more or less. i dont associate with anyone, while being employed here for 3 & a half weeks the past two weeks my hours were being cut i asked the manager why were my hours being cut , she looked me in my eyes than quickly looked down & stated works slow. So i let the week go by but i realized the new employe who barely got here after me doesnt speak any english but spanish, and there are very few bi lingual speakers here but i understand minimal spanish. But dont speak it. So as i seen after are other new employees training was up i looked at his schedule & the days i was regularly working were being passed to him wich i've never done nothing wrong just worked like a mule for them doing everything i was told & giving more than 100% im the reason why everythings so clean in the back because i go out my to do the extras none the less after i called in one day i told them i was sick and wasnt going to be in due to me getting my stitches in my mouth removed and being seen at the hospital i told our employee to relay the message because my phone would be dead and im out. The next day i get written up do to a little stubble from so called "not shaving" but mentions why i didnt call when i called 3 hours before my shift @ 8am when its only 2 hours before. So she felt the need to take it out on me and write me up with a phony excuse. So i told her i felt discriminated against because i dont speak spanish & i told her since thats the case im putting in my 2 weeks cause i wont just quit on the crew because of her. & she smirked & said its nit the reason when shes giving my hours to the next guy working 2 shifts. I was craving a taco salad when at the mall and decided to come here. I really enjoyed the salad, but I thought it was missing a few ingredients. It had beans on the bottom, then lettuce, cheese, carne asada, and sour cream with guc. I was hoping it would have some salsa, rice, and in a taco shell. It had some chips around the plate but it was not in a flour shell like other places. I guess would have just got the asada plate instead of the taco salad if I knew it was not like other Mexican food places. The flavor was good and wasn't bad. I Think the salad was around $10 or $12. I believe the plates are cheaper too. I stick to the combo plates from now on. read more

This is the best place to eat in the Tyler mall. I have tried most everything on the menu, and its all very flavorful. It is a little more pricey then the rest of the fast food available, but its fresh and the portions are generous. The restaurant is clean, and I really appreciate the serve yourself soda counter. Service is slow. Had to wait at least 15 minutes for bean cheese rice burrito. I mean how hard to make it? Just slap some beans rice and cheese and you're done. But that's not the point. Bad night at Miguel's Jr. My cheese enchilada was cold, tough, and gross. It looked watery. The guacamole we ordered was bland and tasted like it was cheap and frozen. We did not like their "famous garbage burrito". It had no flavor, the guacamole too did not seem to be made from real avocado. We love mexican food and have had some of the best mexican food at different parts of Southern California, Florida, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and in other places and can definitely say this was one of the worst thus far.
