An OK sushi place, we substituted the rice for imitation crab meat and it was an extra 6 dollars per bowl, we have also substituted the rice with crab meat for salmon skin handrolls and that was an extra 3 dollars per roll. I was looking for a Sushi restaurant within a 2 mile radius of my office and there were so many to choose from. I narrowed my search down to search for high quality sushi and I was led here to Mika Sushi. While going southbound the light did not allow a u-turn so I actually had to turn left and then make a u-turn in order to turn into the plaza. To make it more irritating, parking is very limited. When I finally arrived at Mika Sushi, the interior was very small with about 8 tables of 4 people max, and the tables were very close together. I do not recommend coming here for large groups. Since I was craving Salmon, I ordered a Salmon Killer ($12.95). This roll came with avocado spicy tuna and shrimp tempura in the center and the exterior was topped with salmon, jalapeno and crunchy onion bits. Honestly in theory this roll composes of many items that I like but the execution fell sport. The shrimp tempura was on the soggy side and the salmon was not the freshest. You can look at my picture and see for yourself. Zoom into the top left hand corner and you'll even see that the plate is chipped. I'm not saying their sushi is bad but simply that this place is AVERAGE... Average sushi at an average price.... I resent all the people raving about their quality because it really led me astray. And also, they do not provide miso soup, a salad or any edamame with the meal. That is extra. I actually considered getting their Baked Green Mussels but I was warned that they take a long time to prep. To their credit, service was nice... nice but awfully inefficient. I was halfway through my 'just okay' roll when I was finally able to FLAG DOWN my waitress for some ginger and wasabi. Then I had to FLAG DOWN a different waitress to get my check since I was unable to get ahold of my own waitress. When I first arrived I mentioned being new to the area and my waitress said that means I will be seeing her often... To answer this-- No!! No way!! If the sushi was delicious and soooooo fresh, I would consider the inconvenient turns to get here... But it was as mediocre as it gets. Also, service is too inconvenient while I am on a lunch run. And so I am still on a search for a go-to sushi spot during my lunch hour. Let me know if you guys have any recommendations... but keep in mind I will put you on FULL BLAST if you lead me astray. read more

Still nice fresh sushi. But the half price Sushi Happy Hour which made Mika Sushi so attractive is no longer. Literally their sushi prices just doubled. We've been long time customers. Heading to Rubios next door to find this sushi place next door. Honestly I wouldn't walked in if I didn't see those great yelp reviews. Came in around 5pm and they were serving their happy hrs. I must say that the quality of dish served to the price paid is very reasonable. Ordered all the standard rolls in addition to two premium ones. They were all good. My second time coming here i thought i would try Mika sushi again since I usually frequent other sushi places closer to my house. Got a miso soup, Salmon Killer Roll and a Tuna Love roll. Both rolls were perfect and fresh and what made them perfect for me was Miko doesnt stuff the sushi rolls with fake crab and mayonnaise they stuffed my rolls with fresh raw fish. Good happy hour! Service was standard nothing to race about, but nothing to complain about either. The fish was pretty fresh and tasty. Out of all the things we got we loved the sapparo roll the most. Was delicious and well balanced. Our least favorite was the happy salmon roll and tuna roll. This is our go to sushi spot if we wanna sit and chill at a restaurant. It's located in a small strip mall, with a Subway and Rubio's right next to them. The place is a bit small but not too crowded. They have two TV's for entertainment, 1 bathroom. The servers, chefs are all mega friendly -- there have been a couple instances where they share a small sample sushi on the house! So sweet! Service here is amazing -- super attentive, and makes sure you are enjoying yourself. We have ordered most of everything it feels! There's always new sushi on the board left of the sushi station. Stripmall sushi? Are you kidding me? It is not some hidden gem of a sushi bar where the Omakase will blow your socks off. It is a solid option for rolls and basic nigiri at a decent value. If you are looking for something different for lunch or dinner when you are at CHOC, or leaving the mall, or just driving past, it is worth a go. The place itself is small with no sushi bar, just about 10 tables and 2 TVs. Most of the regular rolls are based on either California Rolls or spicey tuna rolls, so there isn't a ton of variety, but you can easily get a couple that will satisfy your cravings. Plus they have beer and sake. My favorites are the Tuna Love Roll, In&Out Roll and Sump Roll. I have not tried the baked or tempura roll, but the veggie tempura itself is good. read more

As a neighborhood sushi joint, Mika Sushi is pretty good. The fish is fresh, service is polite, and they have some inventive items on the menu. The happy hour pricing is quite good. I have been in a couple times now with my kids for happy hour. We have gotten a few different items. Both times we really over ordered. You can get a two item or three item happy hour special. The two item is enough for me because the rolls are big - well, maybe two rolls and a couple pieces of nigiri to supplement. Three items is too much for me. Everything has been tasty.
