    Salmon Killer Roll

Been coming here for years now and till this day has not disappointed. My favorite roll to get Salmon Killer! The service is great and the employees are very friendly. Not sure if it's a family owned business but it sure feels that way sometimes with their warm welcome. I'm not much of a person that likes to eat alone but this is the one place that allows me to feel comfortable enough to do exactly that.

I ordered the tempura udon, it was very simple yet filling. I feel like for as simple as everything was, it did seem a bit over priced. I also ordered the salmon hand roll which is not on the menu but it was delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed, yet inviting. The customers service was great as our server checked up on us multiple times to make sure everything was fine. I would definitely go back if I'm ever in the area.

We love Mika Sushi! This review is long overdue. We have been ordering from this restaurant for years and it is still our go-to spot. They are very welcoming when we walk in. The food is served and packaged neatly for takeout and is consistently delicious. Our favorites are the Suki Yaki beef plate, baked lobster roll, tiger roll, tnt roll, spicy edamame and tempura udon :-) Thank you Mika!

Went again today and got my usual. Wanted to try the sushi but this is sooo good. I wish there was an appetizer that was a lil of everything. Friendly service

I love getting my own wasabi & ginger

If you're looking for top-notch, home-cooked-style sushi that hits the spot: Mika Sushi is it. I only tried the Baked Lobster Roll, the Sapporo Roll, and the Crunch Roll....and wow. Every single bite was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The Baked Lobster Roll was rich and satisfying without being heavy. The Sapporo Roll had the perfect balance of flavor and texture, and the Crunch Roll? Classic done right. There's something about the vibe here, it feels like a cozy neighborhood gem where the food is made with heart. Friendly staff, chill atmosphere, and sushi that leaves you planning your next visit before you even leave. Highly recommend if you're craving great quality rolls that taste like they were made just for you. Compliments to the chef!!

Great service as always! Today we tried some new things! We tried the Bento box meal and the Macaron ice cream for dessert. A little pricey, but to be expected.

I had the salmon and avocado handroll as well as the crab handroll. Both were good. I also had the OC roll and grilled salmon -- also very good. Some Asian places tend to overcook their meat. The salmon was cooked well ... I would have preferred a tad more rare, but it was good and not dry. My son had the salmon sashimi as well as lamb chops. He wanted a little more seasoning in the lamb chops but says they were cooked well. I think Japanese food tends to be conservatively seasoned in general. Other dishes also looked good. I thought everything was good but didn't think anything was amazing. My wife particularly appreciated that just about all of the menu items had pictures! Service was good and friendly even though they all seemed a little harried.

I can understand how business owners, managers, servers, and customers are all caught within the vicious fluctuations of markets and so on. However, what I was recently served at Kaizen Shabu last week was, to my mind, an egregious example of a restaurant offering well below the bare minimum of what should be expected for the prices listed (and my photos will show this, I believe). At the outset, I want to say I have no grievances with the servers. Our server was kind, attentive, and was elegantly multitasking. Bravo. Now, the food: we ordered the salmon "sashimi" plate, and what we were handed was a platter of the thinnest, grainiest, obviously-thawed and poorly sliced salmon I've ever eaten in my life. I was a bit shocked. At Cal Shabu Shabu (and other shabu places I tend to frequent more often), sashimi is... sashimi. It *looks* like sashimi because it IS sashimi: a piece of salmon purchased by the restaurant and knife-cut into appropriate portions depending on what portion size the customer has ordered. It is sashimi that gleans in the light, where the striations of fat and tissue are visible to the naked eye on the fish itself. As you can see from my photos, we were served paper-thin salmon that I could barely peel off of the plate with my chopsticks without ripping the fish into smaller, grainier pieces. It was all but inedible, in my opinion. This is not sashimi, and to serve such a thing for the price listed is beyond atrocious: it is an outright deception. Now, onto the side of veggies and noodles that come with every order of meat or fish. Perhaps the cooks could not be bothered, but what I received was broken tendrils of 2-inch udon haphazardly thrown into a bowl. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the chefs, with a dwindling supply of food nearer the end of the night, or if this restaurant truly does not care about the quality of what they are serving customers. Again, I think my pictures speak for themselves. I used to love coming here as the atmosphere was chic, and the servers are so kind. After my last dining experience, however, I cannot justify the price of my bill in the face of the quality of the food I am being served. I won't be returning, sadly. I hope the manager has an opportunity to look at these photos and perhaps reassess what can be done to improve what they are serving their customers.

There was a small wait but it wasn't too bad. The store is in a small strip mall of Tustin. The restaurant is very clean, everyone is extremely friendly and quick to respond anytime anything was needed, I ordered the Karaage soba set and it was more than enough food for at least 2 meals. The udon and katsu don combo my husband had was also extremely filling but delicious, everything retained their temperatures for quite some time. There were only two chefs preparing food for the entire restaurant, so everything can take quite a while. Unfortunately, I didn't think the food quite lived up to the waiting time. The udon had a huge amount of noodles but not much in the way of vegetables or protein. The curry was just okay, and the soba was also pretty average. The highlight was definitely the shrimp tempura--it was huge, crispy, and nicely fried. Service was okay overall. If you're coming here, I'd recommend being patient and trying the tempura.
