I was excited to try Suki Hana after learning that a new Japanese restaurant had opened. Unfortunately, my first visit was a disappointing experience. When I walked in, I was greeted with an unfriendly demeanor. I already knew what I wanted to order, but before I could finish, the cashier, David, interrupted me by saying loudly, "We close at exactly 8:00 sharp!" It was loud enough for the other customers to hear, which made me feel embarrassed and unwelcome. I ordered the chicken teriyaki plate and asked if I could substitute the rice for fried rice. David responded that they were out of fried rice in a tone that came across as rude, so I chose noodles instead. While I waited for my to-go order, the atmosphere felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I arrived approximately 25 minutes before closing, which I believed was a reasonable amount of time to place a takeout order, but I was made to feel like my business was an inconvenience. The one bright spot during my visit was the grill cook, who was friendly, courteous, and professional. I appreciate their positive attitude despite the overall experience. However, the service was very sub par, as the lady who was in charge of the samples was very passive aggressive and gave us annoyed responses. Was looking for a good place to have dinner before going to the movies. Had randomly passed by this spot at the Block of Orange. I spotted some teriyaki chicken plate which caught my eyes right away. Had cravings for a while, so glad I found this place. Cashier was kind to ring us up politely with wonderful service. The cook prepared our food right in front of us so you know it was freshly made. Dinner was delicious! Didn't disappoint me at all. Devoured the plate within minutes. Full of flavors with vegetables sautéed perfectly. The food is really good. I got the chicken and shrimp teriyaki and it was $18 which I thought was a bit pricy at first but after looking at portion sizes I think it's fairly priced. They give you a lot of shrimp which I appreciate because places usually skimp out on that. The flavor of the protein is good too and the veggies make a yummy combo. I got the fried rice after my cashier David said I should try it. It's good but nothing special it's a basic fried rice with no veggies but it's no added fee so I don't mind. I definitely would come back but I think next time I'll get the normal white rice (just preference). I come to this restaurant occassionally and recently noticed on Tuesday (May 5, 2026) between 7:00 pm - 7:30 pm that one of the cashier workers who handled the food containers and hands them to the cook to serve did not wash his hands or use the hand sanitizer in front of him after touching cash from the previous customer. He was handling alot of customers food with the containers and maybe there should be someone else handling the containers who is not touching money. Looks can be deceiving, but this was one of my favorite meals this month. Always walk past this place at the mall and they're always handing free samples to try and got me to come in to try. Walked in to just get a $9 bowl but the cashier convinced me to get the plate because he said it had more meat and I am glad he did because they are so generous with it and I loved the sweet taste of the teriyaki and soft, steamed veggies. The workers are very nice and kept a smile on their faces. After I paid, I turned around for one second and looked back and saw the worker skip the tipping screen.
