A lot of people like this place so we went this afternoon for some burgers. The menu said the burgers are cooked medium unless otherwise specified. 3 out of the 4 burgers we ordered were cooked well done; they were supposed to be rare, medium rare and medium. Needless to say they were dry and not very good. When the waitress came by and asked how the food was we said "Ok but 3 out of 4 burgers are overcooked to well done". Her response was "I'll go and tell the cooks". They took nothing off the bill, nobody apologized and they left us waiting with the tab for 15 minutes until my buddy brought the tab up himself. I wouldn't go back to this place again. Try Flamez in Windsor - the cook there knows how to cook burgers to order and the burgers come with fries (Mikes charges $2.25 for fries in addition to the expensive burger prices of $10-$13). read more

Brought a family of four in. Thought that the reviews were legit and wanted a good meal. Burgers were OK. They were freshly cooked definitely medium rare and not medium as the menu states. Very pink and dripping with pink juice. A bit over the top and a game changer. Western burger's BBQ sauce wasn't good at all, over cooked and under flavored sauce. Beware of the potato salad. It really is poor flavor quality. Would rather have a supermarket deli one. Fries were bagged frozens. Overall is was OK. Wouldn't put it on the map for a road trip again. Dear Mike's, Can you please learn to cook a burger to order? Almost every time I go in there, when I ask for rare, I get medium. I've even said, "Cook it as little as you possible can." I still get medium. Rare means rare. Not medium. God damn. Hire new cooks or teach them what different temperatures mean. I'm scared to see what your cooks think "medium" is. Oh good lord! I'm hankerin for a big fatty, juicy Mikes burger. Its the freshest 1/2lb of meat you can find on a burger anywhere. Did you notice I said that one patty is one half of a pound? I can barely finish my burger, especially because they toss heaping globs of whatever topping you choose on the meat, open faced. Needless to say I make sure to come hungry. Topping favs: pesto, stinky breath (whole cloves of roasted garlic), and hickory. I dont know what it is about america's fetish w/ burgers and fries. Is it not entirely possible to seperate the two? Well here you dont have a choice (insert diabolical laugh). But really the burgers are so huge you dont need friggin fries! 1/2 lb. of meat + bun + topping not enough for you? get 2 patties. My boyfriend usually orders a double, I dont know how he does it. My jaw really dropped when he ordered a triple, he finished all but one bite! Got a burger and potato salad via takeout tonight, and I won't be back. I was told my order would be ready in 15-20 minutes over the phone, so I arrived accordingly. I stood at the counter and waited for a good 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged my existence. Both of the females behind the counter had their backs to the customers the entire time, standing at the computers pressing buttons. When one of them finally turned around and made eye contact with me, I told them I had a take out order. I was told it wasn't ready yet, despite it now having been 35 minutes since I placed my order. So obviously, the service is crap. The food wasn't any more impressive. The only taste in the burger I got was the char (yuck), and there was so much blue cheese on it, I had to scrape it off. The potato salad was more like onion salad, and it tasted unusually sour. Overall, I will not be back to this place again. Hell, I'd pick a fast food In N Out burger over this. read more

I Love Mike's!!!!! i cannot say it enough! i have been getting yummy grub from Mike's for quite some time! they have always been my go to when i am in need of some comfort food. besides the food always tasting soooooooo drooly delicious, its my comfort spot cuz the folks there are the best! everytime i call for some yum they are always so warm and friendly and even recognize my name when placing the order Diego and the guys always makes my food with love! gotta get their cheesecakes! After 5 years of being a veggie. I finally turned. Damn Sonoma County and their "localness" Its helps. I came her a few days ago and ordered the Nauvoo with a handful of blue cheese. I sat facing the open kitchen and literally watch him pile a handful of blue cheese. It was absoultely amazing. The first time I understood what black & blue meant. The epitome of greasy spoon burger joint. Big messy, juicy burgers. Nope, no fries but a myriad of other things to chose from and honestly you don't need the extras in addition to the burger. My brother would love this place since the owner is a HUGE Jets fan. Burgers and fries. 'Nuff said. Well.....to say just a little more, the burgers and fries ARE good. They have a variety of 'gourmet' type burgers with kitschy names. For veggies, they have a portobello mushroom burger which is pretty tasty. I tried the Three Chicas salad there recently, and it was terrible. It had the equivalent of about 1/2 a whole red onion in it! And in general, was rather blah. So again, burgers and fries. This place is known for their burgers, and their fries. This is my pick for best burger of Sonoma county. I had a few different places that I called "favorites" but this place blew them all out of the water. The burger patties are generous but not so thick it feels like you're eating a big hunk of ground beef. They are also so moist and flavorful. Along with Mike's special dressing and the other toppings it makes for a heavenly burger. I usually get the salad but I would love to have some onion rings with these burgers. I don't think I was served the same Kool-Aid as everyone else. Burgers weren't bad, however their basic Mike's Burger will set you back $9.75. All entrees include your choice of macaroni salad, potato salad, mixed green salad, or a bag of chips. Want french fries? That will be an additional $2.25. That macaroni salad was one of the worst I've ever eaten. It had a pink hue, and was nothing but macaroni, mayo, beet juice and relish. I have heard so many locals praise Mike's that I had to try. Upon entering it looks like a nice place. It has a family feel on the surface. There is a nice bar with many good beers on tap. This must be Mike's secret weapon. Get people drunk while they wait, slap a half pound of meat on the table and they will be happy. I didn't drink nor was I impressed. The service was in the running for the worst in town. We waited far too long for our food and watched as diners who arrived long after us received their meals before us. The servers, who hung out at the bar chatting, offered no explanations let alone apologies for our wait. My large burger was good, but, overpriced and like the fries (yes they had fries even though the menu noted that Mike didn't want to have fries) was undercooked. Two of our dining party who ate the chicken, became sick afterwords. I would have rather gone to In and Out for a better burger experience for far less money. read more

After all the good times I've had here, the waitress who gave us terrible service and overcharged is for ranch dressing ran out of the restaurant asking for a tip. The absolute nerve! My gf so kindly gave her $2 but I would have told her to get lost. Literally came out to the parking lot looking for us and asked us while we were in the car leaving. We gave it to her out of pity to have to pull such a stunt. Very unprofessional. Sad to say I won't be visiting this place again. How embarrassing for us both! The only reason this isn't 5 stars is the lack of french fries (although the salad they have is really good) and they ran out of burgers once when I was there on a Saturday night at only 7:30. So Mike's finally gave in and starting serving fries on the weekends, huh? In a way I'm sort of disappointed by that. The guy doesn't want to serve fries (supposedly anyway) then he should stick to his guns. I've only ever had the potato salad as a side, and it's definitely got a strong, tangy, mustardy flavor, but I like it. Five stars for what it is - a no-frills little place with massively delicious burgers, and gourmet upgrades you don't get other places. Some places you go for the whole package - tasty food, prompt and deferential service, softly-lit and well-decorated ambiance - and you pay for it. Here.... not so much. Yumtastic, people! Okay, I had the Belle Burger with cheese, a salad and a side of fries - my friend had the P Burger with the mac salad -- D E L I C I O U S !!! The burgers were cooked perfectly to medium, a difficult task if you like your burgers ever so slightly pink and yet still have those tasty burger juices running down your hands - burger perfection! My Belle burger had the most savory balance of rosemary and sauteed red onions, and then with the cheese - it took it to another level. The fries are crisp, hot with just enough salt when then come out you keep going back - the mac salad was equally tasty. No fryer at this place so my usual options are out. That said, the burgers are nice and large and you really don't need anything else. I consider myself to be somewhat of a burger connoisseur and while some other places have come close Mike's is without a doubt the best burger I have ever eaten. I don't know why the meat there is so much better but it just is. All of the different burgers are good but my favorite is the nouveau with blue cheese. WARNING these burgers are definitely greasy so if you don't like a greasy burger then don't come here and then rate Mike's burger down. As for the fry situation I've heard when Mike's was at the Yard they couldn't make code to get a deep fryer in there. Now that they are at the Crossroads though there is no excuse. Mikes is a Cotati greasy spoon, I personally find redeeming for many reasons. Of course I grew up in Cotati so stars for the nestailga alone. This place has quality meat, cheese and veggies, all highest quality possible and veggies are purchased from the local organic market. :) No fries...yeah they serve burgers huge mouth watering burgers with NO fries. I dont particularly care for fries anyway but some people freak out about this one. They have all kinds of different burgers with all kinds of great toppings and flavors. I like the Mike's which is simple but wonderful. Cheese meat and all the fixings. Just perfect. If your rolling through and you like the JETS (or just the sports bar feel) and large burgers give mikes a try. read more

I have never had a bad burger here - ever. This place is great for what it is. A burger joint! We usually order take-out, mostly because the place can get a bit loud (on game nights especially). It's most likely because of the small space and the fact that most of the tables tend to be filled with groups. They're obviously there for the same reason we are. Money-wise: $ The best burgers in Sonoma County. Mike's has so many different burgers to choose from. Some of my favorites are the garlic burger (comes with a whole head of garlic!), the KRUSH burger (delicious with a wine glaze), and the Bella burger( I think thats what its called. It has lots of purple grilled onions, mmmm...). The salad with vinaigrette is their best side (the vinaigrette is exquisite!). And they have good beers on tap to go with that burger ( Widmers Heffenweizen). Go see for yourself. read more

An attempt at quality is obvious. The bun is among the best I have seen. It is fresh, soft and thick. It is the perfect picture of what a hamburger bun should look like. The produce is picture-perfect. I can't say I have seen a pair of tomatoe slices so perfect. The lettuce was green and crisp. Unfortunately, none of it tastes very good. The meat has always been very greasy, with no attempt to drain any of the grease from the patty. While the eccentric choice of burgers is amusing, the absence of french fries and onion rings is absurd. I truly have no idea what the real reason behind this ommision is, but it's far from humorous in reality. This is one of the few disfortunate restaurants that have opted for Pepsi over Coke, leaving me with a greasy burger, no fries and a glass of water. The attempt to make a perfect burger is noticeable, but Mike's falls far short. While driving a couple of miles north, I noticed an In n Out off the freeay. Wow this place has gone down a steep sorry hill. $27 for two burgers and they were terrible. The burgers were ordered medium and they were both well done. The old hand formed patty is gone and its a round thin patty of meat. The burger was way over cooked, they use some crap off branded ketchup and frozen fries. Frozen fries?! In and Out and Five Guys both use fresh fries and really if you want to go to a place that serves the party's all cooked the same you're better off going there. It's a lot cheaper. When I spend this kind of money on a burger I expect hand formed patties and a cook that knows how to cook a medium burger. My boyfriend introduced me to this place and we come here often - usually when we're visiting family in the North Bay, but we have definitely contemplated making a special trip from the city. Let me start by saying that he is a quasi-vegetarian; that is to say that he will only eat meat for Mike. Did that sound wrong? I love and respect it because they don't give a fuck... they know they serve bomb burgers and that's that. Not to say the service isn't wonderful - it is. But he always asks for his burger medium-well and I always get it medium-rare (how it should be) and they come out the same, almost like they let you order it how you want but you're gonna get it the way they want. They say forget it to fries except on Fridays, which wouldn't bother me except that the alternatives aren't great (the salad is the best option) and they charge you extra to take off the cheese, but I am a firm believer that you should eat food the way the chef intended it to be eaten, and at Mike's they firmly reinforce that. Blue Moon (among 10 or so others) on tap. Apparently people like fries because it's always packed on Fridays. You might find a line out the door, but you can usually get a seat at the bar faster. read more

The best burger I've ever had. Ever. And I don't even like burgers that much! We have been coming here since before it changed owners and not much has changed, except the addition of french fries on friday nights and it seems maybe some of the ingredients aren't as fresh as they used to be. I always get the bella burger - a big juicy burger with sauteed onions and a basil-rosemary herby type stuff on it, SO yummy and flavorful! Their potato salad it my favorite too, its a dijon mustard based salad (although last time we went I noticed they started putting onions in it? It was alot of onion too, didn't like it too much...) This our 3rd time here and 2nd time getting the Moo-Ben...YUMMMM!!! I Loved it the first time I got it, and loved it the 2nd time. The burgers here are huge, so better come in with an appetite. I love this spot! Their burgers are fun and unique and the menu has a lot of good choices (I loooove their BBQ western burger!! Who doesn't??) I went the other night, and I always appreciate a great wait staff. Our waitress did a PERFECT job, I think people often overlook just how much hard work goes into waiting tables (especially at a fast paced place like mike's) I didn't catch her name, but she's really pretty haha! So I just had to give her a shoutout for her good work. I think they have the best quality burgers in the area. For sure. There are certain places you can go to eat and you feel just like you're home. In fact, when it comes to burgers, some places are much better than home (no offense Dad, but they just have better tools at Mike's). I was a little worried when I heard about the change in the long standing "no french fries" policy at Mike's, but I have to say that it's just fine that they have allowed the culture shift. They even tell you now why it's okay to have fries (on Fridays and the weekend). I have had both the pesto and the hickory burger and can recommend them wholeheartedly to meat eaters. The pesto burger is just the right size, just the right taste, and will leave you feeling contented and happy that you've come out to eat. It pleases me that the ownership makes it a point to use locally sourced and responsibly produced beef. The beer selection is hearty without being overwhelming. I can always find one that matches my mood -- and when I want to watch a ball game or eat while I sniff out what's happening on ESPN, this is a good place to sit. If you're in the mood for a burger and a beer -- you can't go wrong here. read more
