This place is great! Friends introduced me to this place and now it's definitely on my top places for fried chicken. The chicken was nice and juicy and flavorful along with all the sides. Service was great too, super nice and kind and helpful. Located in a pretty good area as well. Inside has plenty of seating, which makes it a great spot to go with family or friends.
Stumbled across Mike's Chicken and instantly fell in love. The chicken is super flavorful, with a great variety of dipping sauces. Crispy fries, a buttery biscuit, and the coleslaw was interesting but in a good way. It reminded me of an Asian style slaw. I did a little research and found out the owners are Vietnamese, which totally explains some of the unique but really tasty flavors I noticed. Not a big fan of their cream corn, a little too creamy and rich. Their sweet tea is amazing, perfectly sweet and honestly brought a smile to my face. It does take a bit of time since they fry the chicken fresh, but there's plenty of seating and the restaurant is clean. They call out your order number when it's ready, so make sure you're paying attention. The staff is very attentive and thorough, especially when it comes to allergies. Highly recommend!!
I've had Mike's Chicken on my list for some time and finally tried it on my third trip to Dallas. I arrived before noon and things were quiet but while eating and as it got closer to noon, it got really busy. My food took about 25 minutes to come out for a 2 piece with corn and coleslaw. Overall, it was tasty, hot, fresh. Loved the chicken and biscuit. Sides were ok. Like that this meal came with two dipping sauces. I can understand the hype.
Did not expect this place to be so insanely busy outside of "peak" meal hours, but I soon validated the hype. I kept it simple and got some tenders, and it took probably 20-ish minutes for the food to be ready for pickup at the counter. It took far fewer than 20-ish minutes for me to delete everything on the plate, both because I was starving and it was tasty. The place inside can get a bit chaotic when busy; but there are generally enough tables to handle their turnover speed. Parking can be tricky and they have signs informing customers that neighboring businesses will tow, so just be mindful of that. We found a spot behind the building.
I have tried this place out 3 times at this point. I do like the battered crust on the chicken. The chicken is juicy. All ingredients are fresh. The chicken could use more seasoning. Fries are soft on inside and crunchy outside. The Mac and cheese was ok.... Could have more flavor. The cookie stole the show. Excellent!! It was filled with Reese's , moist, good size, gooey and yummy. I would probably go back. It is not most favorite style of chicken but it is worth trying and it is enjoyable. Chicken: 8/10 Mac an cheese: 6/10 Fries: 9/10 Reese's cookie: 10/10
So, have been to the one on Maple several times, but it's a far drive so haven't been there in a couple years. However, I sometimes have to be in north Dallas for business, and this one on Forest is close enough to justify the side trip. I can still say that Mike's has the best damn chicken in DFW. I agree that the sides can be a little underwhelming, and nowadays I usually just grab a couple spicy breasts (yea baby) and sometimes an order of fries (nothing fancy, still good) and forget the plates. But honestly, this is one of those places that you come for the main attraction and if you're counting anything else, well, that's just not right. Yes, you can wait 15 minutes or more when you order at the counter. I've finally come to the point where when my work is done, I borrow someone's computer and order it online, and it's usually ready by the time I get there. This is the way to do it. It's so hot when I pick it up, by the time I get back to my main hub 20-30 minutes later, it's the perfect temp to eat. Don't listen to any Elite types who bad mouth any of the locations. I've never had anything but perfect chicken here. Try it for yourself.
Ok it's warming up outside and before we begin our errands we needed some fuel. We heard Mike's Chicken is the place for something crispy and delicious. Our server Diana L. greeted us with a warm hello and smile. The atmosphere is all about being comfortable and enjoying some good food while watching some ANIME OR LOCAL NEWS. Overall a great spot for some chicken and gravy.
Rating: 9/10 Date Last Visited: 9/19/2025 I ordered the 3-Piece Dark Fried Chicken ($12.50) with Creamy Corn and Mac & Cheese (+$1). The fried chicken combo comes with your choice of two sides, a biscuit, and sauce. The fried chicken itself was insane - perfectly fried, seasoned with spice, and super juicy. Probably some of the best fried chicken I've had. The sides were quite delicious too - the creamy corn is a must get and a perfect compliment to the chicken. The mac n cheese was good too, but not the best I've had. The biscuit was a bit dry, but still decent. For the price, this is such a good deal. The cashiers are really nice and the restaurant is pretty clean - free water with lemon is offered as well. Overall, I would 100% recommend this place if you enjoy fried chicken.
Yelp 100 Challenge - #22 This is my second visit to this location and I have been impressed both times. Food is made to order so visit with enough time to wait for your food and enjoy your food. Both times they have been busy but food is fast and people are in an out. You can also place your order online to avoid waiting. The wait is roughly 20 - 30 minutes for bone in chicken and less for tenders. I often order the chicken with two slides and an extra biscuit to enjoy later. Sides range from fries, green beans, baked beans, to mac and cheese. Parking is limited so depending on the time of your visit, you may have to park in the back or near and walk over. Casual ambiance with fast friendly service.
Best chicken tenders in Dallas--hands down. I know chicken tenders aren't usually the true test of a fried chicken joint, but these blew me away. I ordered the 4-piece tender, and to my surprise, found a 5th in the box when I got home--an unexpected bonus I was very glad to have. The chicken was perfectly crispy with a well-seasoned coating, while the inside stayed juicy and tender. Each bite had that ideal breading-to-meat ratio. The biscuit was excellent--fluffy, buttery, and with just a hint of sweetness. For sides, I had the green beans and mashed potatoes, both of which hit the spot. If you're craving fried chicken, I can't recommend Mike's Chicken enough.

Ordered a combo for pick up today and it was ready at the estimated time given. I ordered the spicy tenders and they were amazing. The biscuit has a bit of honey on it which complimented the chicken perfectly. As for the sides, the fries were crispy and go great with their ranch but the mac and cheese left a lot to be desired. The mac and cheese definitely had flavor to it but it didn't taste much like cheese. read more
After 9 years of hearing that this is among the best fried chicken in Dallas, I FINALLY made the trip to try it myself. Yes, they live up to the hype. Even after I got it to-go and drove 25+ minutes home, it was still piping hot and CRISPY. I've never had chicken this crispy before. The seasoning, batter, juiciness, everything was perfection. The creamy corn was decent, but the baked beans were just ok. My biscuit was delicious as well. But obviously, I'm here for the chicken and I have to agree with everyone that they are top tier. read more

Very uniquely fried chicken! So crispy and a hint of spice infused! And their signature sauce is great! I love their green beans and the biscuit. This location is super consistent. I recommend. Very clean on the inside of the building although I always order to go. Staff is nice. read more

Let me say "greasy" chicken here you go! But it's Amazing chicken and the corn side and mashed potatoes was the best. The cookie wasn't my fav but I'm not a peanut butter lover and it was a PB choc cookie but I had to try it and glad I did but don't recommend it . Service was good and food was made to order so we did wait a bit but it was okay bc we sat down to eat dinner w group of friends and let me tell you the people never stopped coming in this place was super busy and popular! I mean the chicken speaks for it self - very good! Our fav was the spicy chicken dark. Next time I might try the tenders - will let you know! read more
Phenomenal fried chicken- I'm talking from Korean fried chicken to fried chicken from the South, I've had a lot. But Mike's chicken really blew it out of the ballpark for me. The star of the show- the chicken. incredibly juicy and tender and the batter is thin but has the best crunch factor. We got the spicy and it wasn't spicy but for how amazing the chicken is, I 100% forgive them. The biscuit is really good too, it's soft and buttery, not quite flaky, nor is it dry. The gruyere mac and cheese is creaaammy. Good food definitely takes patience, we got there 5 minutes after opening, there was already a load of orders before us and we waited about 30 minutes for our food. But if that's how they do it- fried to order with extra love, that's how I enjoy it. It's also such a bang for your buck. If I could eat a 10 pc bucket of this by myself, I so would. read more
This spot is so fire and I fear I could eat here everyday if I could! The mac n cheese is made with gruyere cheese. It's a different take from your regular cheddar cheese but it was very tasty. The creamed corn was super savory and seasoned. Now for what may be the best fried chicken I may have every had... they cook the chicken fresh and made to order. Place an order ahead or expect to wait a bit but it's well worth it. I ordered the spicy 3 pc dark meat plate with Mike's Sauce. If you like a little heat, order this or get it plain and ask for buffalo sauce. You can tell the chicken is of could quality, clean, seasoned and fried to utter perfection. Wow! I love that everyone's palettes are different! Thats life! But for mine, I just can't comprehend the hype. The crust of the chicken is good but the non spicy version had no flavor to me at all. It reminded me of a very plain honey kettles fried chicken in Culver city ( LA) CA! The biscuit definitely felt and tasted like KFC, the beans and mac were cool. I would need to try the spicy version as maybe thats where the flavor lies. The buffalo sauce I did not care for at all. The mikes sauce was a better version of cane's very disgusting cane sauce. Mike's lives up to the hype! Their juicy, crunchy, and perfectly seasoned chicken is some of the best that I have ever had which is saying a lot having eaten my fair share in the South. There are a few tables inside to eat your chicken fresh but Mikes is more of a takeout joint. Need to get your laundry done? Their attached laundry mat is undergoing a makeover but still accessible. The price is also reasonable for the quality of chicken. I'm drooling as I write this. Go get some asap! read more

I'm glad to have finally made it back to Mike's Chicken. This time at their new-er location off of Forest Ln. Hands down one of the best fried chicken in the metroplex and nothing can tell me otherwise. They still make their chicken fresh to order. You have a choice of spicy or regular, tenders or bone-in. Spicy fried chicken is always a way to go at Mike's Chicken IMO. It's counter service with a wait time of at least 15 minutes since they're cooking your chicken as you order. This 2nd location is much more closer to us, folks living north of 635. Still not as close as we would like but thankful as it is inching further north. They have more spacious dining area completed the original location right next to their laundromat. Either way, it's still the same awesome chicken and sides. read more

Chicken is incredible - best in town. But they've left me frustrated tonight. I tried to place an order through their website to pick up on the way home from work - and when Apple Pay was offered as an option, I took it. I got this error message (in photo as well as the bank charge going through) saying the order didn't go through but my account had already been charged. So I took the suggestion and called them. Phone doesn't accept calls. So I thought, surely the restaurant will know how to handle this. They did not. It took me 25 minutes to get to the restaurant from work and my money still hadn't been refunded. After speaking with someone in charge, he told me to wait 24 hours for the reversal and I would have to pay again for my chicken tonight. I asked what happens if it's not reversed, can I call yall for a credit or something? He said no, just take it up with the bank and dispute the charge. This seems like a very poor way of handling this situation, I've now paid $94.16 for three regular meals. Here's to hoping for a reversal tomorrow? I feel like I'm being punished because their website is buggy and their online ordering tool is way below industry standard. It's not enough to make good food, you have to also run a reputable business. Pretty bummed this happened as I've eaten here for years and constantly told people about how much I love this place. At least I had to wait 25 minutes for my food so I had time to write this order. TLDR: DO NOT ORDER THROUGH THE WEBSITE. You will be scammed and have to deal with your bank tomorrow. read more
If you know you know but if you don't, Mike's Chicken is hands down the best fried chicken in DFW. This is the second location which has much better parking and more seating inside. Came here on a Friday afternoon and it was still busy with people taking out and some dining in. The ladies up front were friendly and patient with me while I was trying to figure out our order. Not sure when they changed the containers but they currently have a more eco-friendly paper based container. We ordered the 4-pc tenders with corn and mashed potatoes and two 3-pc dark meat with a thigh and two drumsticks with corn, fries, coleslaw and Mac and cheese. They fry to order so a lot of people call ahead or be prepared to wait 10-15 min for your food depending on how busy it is. Tenders were crunchy and juicy, great with Mike's Sauce (chipotle Mayo). The dark meat was so crispy and juicy, I almost started crying. It was seasoned well so honestly you don't really need the sauce, even though it comes with it. The fries are this beautiful crispy golden brown which are great for dipping in the sauces. My fav side though is the sweet corn. The Mac and cheese was ok, I wish it was more flavorful. But you're not coming here for that, you're here for the chicken. Highly recommend this location if you're coming with a group, there are larger tables in the middle, farm bench type style with a few booths along the side. read more

Hands down the best chicken in the area! I ordered a sandwich, tenders, 2 piece, fries and mac and cheese. Everything was amazing and the sauces were SO good! The food was fresh so there was about a 20 minute wait after you ordered but definitely worth it! The only down side was the service. They didn't greet us and it was not busy at all when we walked in. We had never been to Mike's before and let it be known when we got to the counter. They didn't acknowledge that or even try to offer any suggestions/customer favorites. They were very short and engaged in no conversation at all. They simply took our order and took our payment. We didn't feel very welcomed at all. Again, the food was phenomenal but we may try the other location on our next visit. read more

The chicken is good but I was hoping for a crispier batter. I ordered 2 spicy breast's, 2 sides and a biscuit. The green beans are super fresh, the mashed potatoes were very good and the biscuit had just a sheer coating of sweetness or lack there of. The music being played for inside dining was loud and extremely annoying. Overall the food is good and fresh but for me it wasn't omg amazing, it's living in my head rent free experience. read more

Be prepared to wait. I don't mind waiting because I like my food fresh and hot. I think I waited 25 minutes. The fried chicken was hot and so good. The reason for three stars is the gravy was cold on the mashed potatoes, which made the potatoes lukewarm. The mac n cheese was cold so I couldn't eat it after two bites. This was takeout so I tried it in my car so I could give an honest review. I reheated it in the microwave and it was good but the chicken was really the best. read more
Yoo these chicken tendies slap so hard. I got the spicy batter (and I don't like super spicy) and it was the perfect amount of flavor and spice. Cream corn was delish, I think the mash potatoes could have used more gravy but overall it was yummy! read more

I saw Mike's Chicken on TikTok in my search for the best chicken locally. I ordered the two spicy with baked beans and fries as a side. I also ordered a sweet tea. I loved that the sweet tea didn't taste too sugary and had just the right amount of sweetness. The chicken was made hot to order and paired well with the buffalo sauce. The fries were crispy and tasted good as well. I didn't have a problem finding seating during the late lunch hour and it was pretty quiet. read more

Was looking for "the best fried chicken in Dallas" and this before-unknown-to-me "Mike's" kept reappearing. Already very familiar (and happy) with Babes, it was narrowed down to Mike's and Slow Bone. Mostly because Mike's on Forest Lane seemed to have easier parking than either Slow Bone or Mike's on Maple and being a Saturday night, this location won! Even arriving early (5pm) the place was packed with only a couple tables open... but parking WAS a breeze. The 20 minute wait for the half chicken, biscuit, Mac & Cheese, and green beans was more than worth it! Piping hot... extra crunchy... and just the right amount of grease. The sides were fine but nothing mind-blowing. I was expecting more out of the Mac and Cheese since I fell for "Instagram" over reality. Ambiance is fine in a "glorified fast food joint" sort of way. Order and pickup at counter and bus your own table. Definitely worth a visit! read more

Do not be fooled by the unassuming exterior. Mike's fried chicken is the bomb. The tenders are outstanding - crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. The three-piece dark meat fried chicken is also excellent. Super crispy exterior and quite literally dripping juicy on the inside. Takes about 15 to 20 minutes when you order at the counter. It's crowded, because it's good. read more

Mike's Chicken is the BEST chicken in Texas-- yes I said it!!! Freshly made to order every time. Juicy chicken thigh on the inside and hot , spicy, and crunchy on the outside. The green beans flavor was on point. The macaroni and cheese were ok. You gotta try it!! read more
