I was talking about this place to my coworkers every time someone brought up good food so we all pooled our money together and my manager went to Mike's and we all got tri tip sandwiches and ate them on our lunch breaks. Now everyone at work has experienced their tri tip sandwiches. Do you know how hard it was to work and interact with customers knowing I had Mike's Grill sitting in the back waiting for me?? I would not have stopped at this place if it wasn't for the good reviews on Yelp and through word of mouth. There is no indoor seating. It is just a little drive-thru shack with some stools and little tables and chairs outside. But, the food is DELICIOUS! I had the tri-tip sandwich (regular size) and pilaf. read more

Pretty good food, however, in comparison to Dog house you'll get about half the amount of meat in each sandwich. I enjoyed and would go back. Pretty fast service. Only suggestion is for the employees to listen to what's being ordered. I ordered 3 combos and was given one drink. Hmm. The tritip sandwich was decent. Not worth the price considering the venue. The prices need to drop about 20%. The idea of a roadside/walkup type situation should ideally be that you are sacrificing not having a nice restaurant in exchange for better prices. read more

Food was good. Tender tri tip sandwich with a forgettable barbecue sauce. Shaved ice was good the only reason I'm giving this hole in the wall a one star review is solely based on the customer experience. It's happened twice and I'm no longer returning due to this. We were the only customers and the gentleman in the booth is just not warm, friendly, or at all attentive. He makes you feel ashamed to be there and to even ask for an order adjustment. I hate interacting with him and he wasn't even busy. I get you're at a hot box drive thru but do not be completely distant and blatantly rude to your customers. Never again. read more

Do not be fooled by the tiny hut that is Mike's Grill. The place serves amazingly flavorful and moist tri tip sandwiches. In addition the sandwiches are decently priced and are packed with meat. As a bbq enthusiast myself and having grilled hundreds of tri tips it makes me wonder how they are able to make money with the gigantic portions they give you for the price they charge. read more

All this years later and mikes grill is still the best tri-tip. I'm not saying he has the best sauce or the best bread but he has the best damn tri-tip in town. The Tri tip was great and the bbq sauce was really great. Now that I have been to booth doghouse grill and Mike's grill. I would have to say that Mikes tri tip is the best. What Mike's misses on is a place to sit (inside) and enjoy the sandwhich. They have table and chairs outside but these days it's too cold when the sun goes down. The ribs were meaty and tastey but they didn't fall of the bone. I'm definately going back especially for the tri tip! read more

Can't go wrong with either this place or Dog House grill. Unlike dog house, they give you a barbeque dipping sauce instead so you get a better overall taste of the meat. My knock on this place is they don't really have variety of sides, but the chili is very good though. I can't give them a five star because their menu simply isn't on par with the dog house and their side of fries. read more

Couldn't decide between the Tri tip and the pulled pork. Tri tip had just the right amount of juicy thin cut smokey flavor and the pulled pork came with some spice and slightly sweet Cole slaw. Add some BBQ with just the right spice. Both hit the spot driving back to LA from Yosemite. I highly recommend this best BBQ shack in Fresno. Tried this place after all the good reviews and got the tri tip sandwich. The tri tip was very good as well as the toasted garlic bread, was toasted just right. As for the BBQ sauce wasn't impressed. This place is great. I have tried almost every thing on the menu, and all of them taste great and taste of the freshest ingredients.

Bad service, had to wait 5 minutes to even be noticed although there was absolutely no one on line or waiting for their food. The girls in the cooking area were all laughing and gossiping about who knows what instead of paying attention to their customer waiting in line. Also, the sandwich meat was cold and not tasty at all. Doghouse is much better than this place and better priced. read more
