Charge on the bill for inside avocado which I didn't order.

I never write reviews, but I had to. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had. Our waitress checked on us only once, right when our food arrived. At that moment I was busy cutting my daughter's food, so I hadn't even had a chance to realize my order was wrong. I also had to get up and ask for utensils because we weren't given a fork or knife. After that, she disappeared. She never came back to check on us, never asked how the food was, and never once checked to see if we needed drink refills. By the time she finally returned near the end of our meal, I told her my roll had been made incorrectly. Her only response was, "Oh, sorry about that.And then she walked away When the bill came, I asked her to remove the extra avocado charge because I had specifically requested the avocado on top of the roll, not inside. She didn't ask her manager to remove it--she simply told me they couldn't take it off because I had already eaten it. I had even pointed out the mistake earlier when she saw my last piece, but nothing was done. That response was frustrating. The issue wasn't whether I ate it, The issue was that my order wasn't prepared the way I requested. I only ate it because I was there with my child, it was getting late, and no one ever came back to our table to fix it. To top it off, we had to ask twice just to get a to-go box. Between the lack of service, never checking on our drinks, the incorrect order, and the unwillingness to make things right, this was a very disappointing experience. We won't be returning.

We've really been enjoying this place. Lots of seating, but cozy spacious booths. Fresh and yummy food. Nice to have some gluten friendly options. There was a mix up once with an order of edamame and I did get really sick, so just double check everything with the staff when you're ordering and again when your food arrives if you're one of those people like me that just get unfortunately wrecked by gluten. We will be back quite a bit I'm sure!

Came here with a group of 6 for dinner Sunday evening and they were able to seat us within 10 minutes. We ordered a mixture of entrees and rolls and everyone enjoyed the food. Unfortunately what was lacking was the service. Nobody came by to check on us during the meal and if we needed refills or additional items we had to flag someone down. It wasn't that crowded and there were several people working. We also had to find our server to finally get the check and take care of the bill.

Service wasn't the best in the beginning, as it took quite some time for our order to be taken (it's just thru piece of paper and pencil). No one came by to offer water refills, it wasn't really until the end that one of the servers checked up and said to let them know if we need anything.

Mikko is always a great choice when in Vista. I ordered my food to go but even that experience wasn't lacking. Some restaurants when order to go just had off your food and it doesn't feel like much of a welcome or anything. Just a here ya go and see ya. When I picked my food up, Alina (Hope I got that right) greeted me with a lovely greeting and a nice smile. Was super friendly and helpful :). Now the food. I ordered some miso soup, spicy seafood poke bowl, and a pipeline roll. The miso soup was good (hard to do that wrong haha. The poke bowl, to be honest it was good but nothing to write home about. I feel like the amount of lettuce and cabbage was a little overkill compared to the amount of fish. It was good but I personally probably wouldn't order that again. I'll stick with sashimi or sushi in the future. The pipeline roll.....delicious as pretty much all the rolls are. Anyway, Mikko is a great spot with great people, vibes, and food! See you all again soon!

It's a pretty solid sushi spot overall. It's located in downtown Vista, there's street parking, some lots nearby and also a parking garage a couple blocks down. Depending on the day and time, parking can fill up but there's usually a spot *somewhere* not too far. There's patio seating and also a decent amount of space inside. The times I've gone, the service has been fairly prompt. The biggest plus I'd say about this place is that the nigiri portions are really good. They give you a lot of fish for each piece. The rolls I've tried were fine, I might try more but I also might just stick to the nigiri. I'd recommend it for locals looking to get their sushi fix

We ordered sushi on a very busy Saturday night, which was expected and completely understandable. However, we ended up waiting an additional 20 minutes past our scheduled pickup time. There wasn't much room inside the restaurant to wait, which made the delay a bit uncomfortable. That said, our order was correct, and everything appeared to have been made fresh though not all at once. Half of the rolls were ready at the promised time, while the rest were still being prepared when we arrived. The rolls were smaller compared to those from other local sushi spots, but they were still flavorful and well-prepared. We enjoyed a few appetizers along with a variety of specialty rolls. Our favorites were the Hawaiian, Pipeline, Yellowtail Maki, and Waimea rolls, they were creative, well-balanced, and delicious. One helpful tip: if you're ordering pickup, use the restaurant's official website to bypass third-party platforms, which often add unnecessary fees and may not reflect the most accurate menu or pricing. Overall, despite the wait and limited space, the quality of the food made up for it. I'd be happy to return, perhaps for dine-in next time to fully enjoy the experience, or really any day but Saturday. Parking is limited since it's located in downtown Vista, but on the bright side, it's free, so that's a fair trade-off. I suppose you can't have it all.

Restaurant was clean. Service was very good. I tried the Mango Sushi Roll and I loved it! I was surprised how good the spicy tuna tasted with the mango. I would definitely order that again.

Great sushi spot in Vista Village. There's usually a wait to get into this spot, but we ended up only having to wait 15 minutes to get a table. My wife and I had only done takeout from them, this is the first time we dined in. The inside is pretty large. We ended getting seated in the back of the restaurant. It was nice having some privacy in the back. We ordered the stuffed jalapenos and seaweed salad to start, both were amazing. We got the Waimea and Endless Summer rolls for our mains. We really loved the Waimea. The Endless Summer was good, but we thought it would be spicier. This sliced ginger was also dry and stringy which was unfortunate. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely co.e back.

Came here for the first time last night and WOW! The fish is so fresh, and the rolls are super creative, tasty, and diverse. I usually go to Harney in Oceanside but I actually think Mikko has better quality fish and better rolls! We had the Carlsbad roll, surfs up roll, salmon scallop and albacore nigiri, and the chicken katsu. Everything was a 20/10. We will definately be back and I can't wait to try more menu items!

I recently visited Mikko and was extremely disappointed with the level of service I received. The servers were slow and unresponsive, and it took an excessively long time for our orders to be taken and for our food to arrive; my friends large Sapporo arrived almost 20 minutes after ordering and our food came out 10 minutes before our friends food. The servers also seemed uninterested in providing good customer service and were not attentive to our needs. The sushi was alright - each roll was prepared and presented just normally. The fish was fresh and the flavors were well balanced. I particularly enjoyed the spicy tuna roll and the rainbow roll, although the quality and quantity was not exceptional compared with competitors that charge less and provide more in nearby locations. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant due to the poor service and slow servers. This restaurant does not offer an active duty, veteran, or first responder discount. Sad, since you are located to such a close military community. read more

Mikko sushi is one of my top favorite sushi places near me. I really like how clean and spacious the restaurant is...and the service is great too! I always get their albacore special roll.. it has albacore fish on top AND fried onion... soo good. It comes with eel sauce but I always skip on that. Their miso soup is super delish too (kinda picky with my miso soups)I always like to bring friends here since I know the service and food is great. I also like their dynamite roll. Amazing experience. I came here the first time a couple weeks ago, came back for a second visit tonight. Our server, Alliiana, suggested four rolls- and they were all amazing. The flavor profiles are perfectly balanced- nothing overpowering. The use of sauce was just right- a nice accent and not the whole dish like some sushi places. I ordered by Door Dash and they got my order wrong and missed part of the order that I was really looking forward to. When I spoke to them, the only think they could do was refund me for the items I missed. I will never order from here again as they clearly do not understand how disappointing it is to wait for an order and not get what you are expecting and all they can do is refund the items missed. Poor customer service in my opinion and it really hurts someone that would be loyal and order regularly. Needless to say, I will not order from here again. Mistakes happen, but it is how you deal with them after that makes a big difference. This place does not help make things right when a mistake is made. read more

Best place in town for a Japanese style lunch. Upscale, yet charming, Mikko Sushi is a delightful place to get a bento set or split some sushi with friends and family. This was my third visit here and I was not disappointed. Staff is quick and attentive. The selection is wonderful - so much to choose from, but not an overwhelming amount either. Prices are fare for the amount and quality of food. And they bring you water before asking about apps or drinks, which I really loved. The food was piping hot and delectable. Every morsel as good as the last. I almost had to stop myself from licking the plate. Desserts are available and multiple to choose from. I'd recommend coming here to treat yourself every now and then. read more

A good place to see, and be seen, here in downtown vista district. Solid flavors, textures and qualities in all rolls, handhelds and hot entrees. Service always seems to be on point and a very friendly staff. It gets very busy and sometimes tables are scarce but a relatively quick turnover. Do stop in and give 'er a try. Dicks read more

I was looking for a causal sushi spot to have dinner while visiting the area and Mikko fit the bill! The ambiance was exactly what we were looking for: plenty of parking options downtown Vista, waited maybe 5 minutes on a Friday evening for a table of 4, service was fast and super friendly, large restaurant with indoor and patio seating, food was all delicious and pricing was fair. We ordered baked mussels, garlic edamame, deep fried philly, dynamite roll, mikko roll, cucumber and avocado roll, and chicken yakisoba. Those baked mussels were SO GOOD! Like so good, we ended up ordering a second order. No complaints about the rolls, they were all delicious! I would probably pass on the yakisoba next time. Perfect location and perfect spot for casual dinner. 5/5 recommend! read more

The restaurant is really clean. The service is OK and the food is just OK. I've been here a few times and tried different things, but it keeps missing for me. The sushi rolls are cut way too big and I asked ahead of time if the sushi rolls can be cut equally but the ends of the rolls always seem to be way too big and they fall apart. They're also incredibly dog-friendly, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, so I always know I'm going to be comfortable, happy, and well-fed. Parking is surprisingly easy too--even on busy PCH, I've always managed to find a spot either on the street or in their small lot. Green Cheek took over the previous space beautifully and has truly made it their own. I have no doubt this will be an Oceanside staple for many years to come. Five stars all the way!

The happy hour menu was also a bit disappointing. Even with the discounts, the prices still felt fairly high. One thing we did appreciate was that the beer we originally ordered wasn't available, and they offered us a comparable replacement at the same price without any hassle. As for the food, the burgers were excellent, just like we expected. Unfortunately, the fries came out cold, which was disappointing. Overall, this location was surprisingly quiet, so the mediocre service didn't really make sense. For the prices they charge, I expected a more welcoming experience. I firmly believe that Crystal has a tremendously positive impact on Mikko Sushi's business! Now, onto the sushi--absolutely incredible! The quality and freshness of the fish were immediately evident. Each piece was meticulously prepared, showcasing the chefs' expertise and attention to detail. We tried a variety of rolls, sashimi, and small plates. Every bite was a delightful burst of flavor. Our favorite rolls are Samurai and Omega 3. The sashimi plate was amazing as well! Definitely recommend! A few highlights included their toro and yellowtail, which both melted in our mouths. I rarely write reviews, but my recent experience with Mikko Sushi in Vista through UberEats compels me to share. This was an exceptionally frustrating dining experience, far below the standards one would expect from any restaurant. Firstly, the majority of our order was missing upon delivery. We only received the baked mussels, while the rest of our order was nowhere to be found. This was not just a minor oversight, but a significant error in fulfilling the order. When we attempted to address this issue by calling the restaurant, the experience further deteriorated. The staff we spoke with were not only unhelpful but also dismissive. We were repeatedly transferred from one employee to another, leading to a circular and unproductive conversation. Moreover, the assertion from the staff that we were lying about the missing items was both shocking and unprofessional. It's one thing to make a mistake; it's entirely another to accuse a customer of dishonesty when they bring it to your attention. To make matters worse, we were denied the opportunity to speak with a manager. This lack of accountability is concerning and not something I would expect from a reputable establishment. Additionally, our request for a refund for the missing items was flatly refused, leaving us both out of pocket and without most of our meal. In conclusion, the service we experienced was well below par, characterized by a lack of responsibility and customer care. It's disheartening, as we had hoped for a pleasant meal from Mikko Sushi. I ordered a few sushi rolls through DoorDash and specifically requested no avocado due to an allergy. Unfortunately, the rolls arrived with avocado, even though the receipt clearly showed my request. When I called the restaurant, I explained the situation and mentioned I couldn't drive back due to a knee injury. Without hesitation, the woman I spoke with sincerely apologized and offered to personally remake and deliver the rolls herself. Within 15 minutes, she showed up with fresh, correct rolls and even included a complimentary miso soup for the inconvenience. That level of customer service is rare these days, especially when the order wasn't placed directly through the restaurant. The sushi was delicious, and the effort they put into making things right really stood out. Officially my favorite sushi roll of all time and I'm not being dramatic (ok maybe a little, but it's deserved). And Luna. Absolute gem. We had several rolls, sashimi,and entrees but mango, dynamite, chicken Teriyaki.....were my favorite Mango was refreshing and sweet, dynamite was bigger than I thought and it was nutty Chicken teriyaki...one of my favorite menu, chicken was so soft and I love the sauce!!!! We're regulars at Mikko and this past weekend we were reminded why. Even on a busy Saturday the host (Larson) was friendly and had us seated after only a short wait. For dinner, we went all in and ordered appetizers, sashimi, and ramen. Everything was excellent as always. I want to shout out Alli who took care of us. The food is always great, they have the perfect balance of go-to menu options and fun, bold options. the service is always great, they remember you when you come by often. Alliana was our server today, she was super attentive and made sure we got our food in a timely manner. They have a super chill, but "vibey" aesthetic with the lighting, so it's great for date night or a regular Tuesday. read more

The sushi here is pretty darn good. I usually go to another spot in Carlsbad but tried this spot as I was in the area. The waiter with a flower tattoo provided really good recommendations and really good service too. The manager also stopped by to check on how I was doing which was nice of her. If you come, you have to get the Vista roll and the albacore special! Overall, highly recommend read more

I have to say that I was new to sushi and wasn't sure what to try. The staff here was very helpful and the manager helped me personally and explained some of the different items on the menu. In the end I absolutely loved everything I tried!! I am now definitely a huge fan of sushi and will be back to Mikko for sure!! Thanks for such a great experience!! read more

I love this place, because Mikko has always fresh tuna, not frozen. All rolls has decent size & quality, too. Most of all, l love the interior (Vista location). Haha.. Good feeling w/my family whenever I visit to Vista location. Carlsbad Mikko is too cloud n loud sometimes, but Vista Mikko is a kind of calm n relaxing mood. I recommand always~~~ read more

We had a great experience at Mikko Sushi, thanks largely to our server, Larson. He was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was taken care of without being overbearing. Our drinks were always full, our food came out exactly as ordered, and he checked in at just the right times. He definitely helped make our visit enjoyable. We'll be back! read more

My wife and I have been eating here for years! It's our go to sushi joint, where the quality is always on point, along with the staff. Larson always takes care of our seating and has a great personality, then Alianna and Kenny just kill it on service. They keep us coming every weekend like clockwork. read more

Stellar! We have been ordering delivery from Mikko Sushi over the last 6 months and it has always been a excellent experience. We couldn't wait to eat here.I called at 9:03pm to place my order. (They close at 9:30) and I was told they could not take my order because last order at 9pm? What is the difference if I was to walk in and sit down or place an order to pick up? I was extremely disappointed in the response. read more
