Charge on the bill for inside avocado which I didn't order.

I never write reviews, but I had to. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had. Our waitress checked on us only once, right when our food arrived. At that moment I was busy cutting my daughter's food, so I hadn't even had a chance to realize my order was wrong. I also had to get up and ask for utensils because we weren't given a fork or knife. After that, she disappeared. She never came back to check on us, never asked how the food was, and never once checked to see if we needed drink refills. By the time she finally returned near the end of our meal, I told her my roll had been made incorrectly. Her only response was, "Oh, sorry about that.And then she walked away When the bill came, I asked her to remove the extra avocado charge because I had specifically requested the avocado on top of the roll, not inside. She didn't ask her manager to remove it--she simply told me they couldn't take it off because I had already eaten it. I had even pointed out the mistake earlier when she saw my last piece, but nothing was done. That response was frustrating. The issue wasn't whether I ate it, The issue was that my order wasn't prepared the way I requested. I only ate it because I was there with my child, it was getting late, and no one ever came back to our table to fix it. To top it off, we had to ask twice just to get a to-go box. Between the lack of service, never checking on our drinks, the incorrect order, and the unwillingness to make things right, this was a very disappointing experience. We won't be returning.

Service wasn't the best in the beginning, as it took quite some time for our order to be taken (it's just thru piece of paper and pencil). No one came by to offer water refills, it wasn't really until the end that one of the servers checked up and said to let them know if we need anything.

Mikko is always a great choice when in Vista. I ordered my food to go but even that experience wasn't lacking. Some restaurants when order to go just had off your food and it doesn't feel like much of a welcome or anything. Just a here ya go and see ya. When I picked my food up, Alina (Hope I got that right) greeted me with a lovely greeting and a nice smile. Was super friendly and helpful :). Now the food. I ordered some miso soup, spicy seafood poke bowl, and a pipeline roll. The miso soup was good (hard to do that wrong haha. The poke bowl, to be honest it was good but nothing to write home about. I feel like the amount of lettuce and cabbage was a little overkill compared to the amount of fish. It was good but I personally probably wouldn't order that again. I'll stick with sashimi or sushi in the future. The pipeline roll.....delicious as pretty much all the rolls are. Anyway, Mikko is a great spot with great people, vibes, and food! See you all again soon!

It's a pretty solid sushi spot overall. It's located in downtown Vista, there's street parking, some lots nearby and also a parking garage a couple blocks down. Depending on the day and time, parking can fill up but there's usually a spot *somewhere* not too far. There's patio seating and also a decent amount of space inside. The times I've gone, the service has been fairly prompt. The biggest plus I'd say about this place is that the nigiri portions are really good. They give you a lot of fish for each piece. The rolls I've tried were fine, I might try more but I also might just stick to the nigiri. I'd recommend it for locals looking to get their sushi fix

Deep Deep Fried Philadelphia Tempura Roll

We ordered sushi on a very busy Saturday night, which was expected and completely understandable. However, we ended up waiting an additional 20 minutes past our scheduled pickup time. There wasn't much room inside the restaurant to wait, which made the delay a bit uncomfortable. That said, our order was correct, and everything appeared to have been made fresh though not all at once. Half of the rolls were ready at the promised time, while the rest were still being prepared when we arrived. The rolls were smaller compared to those from other local sushi spots, but they were still flavorful and well-prepared. We enjoyed a few appetizers along with a variety of specialty rolls. Our favorites were the Hawaiian, Pipeline, Yellowtail Maki, and Waimea rolls, they were creative, well-balanced, and delicious. One helpful tip: if you're ordering pickup, use the restaurant's official website to bypass third-party platforms, which often add unnecessary fees and may not reflect the most accurate menu or pricing. Overall, despite the wait and limited space, the quality of the food made up for it. I'd be happy to return, perhaps for dine-in next time to fully enjoy the experience, or really any day but Saturday. Parking is limited since it's located in downtown Vista, but on the bright side, it's free, so that's a fair trade-off. I suppose you can't have it all.

Great sushi spot in Vista Village. There's usually a wait to get into this spot, but we ended up only having to wait 15 minutes to get a table. My wife and I had only done takeout from them, this is the first time we dined in. The inside is pretty large. We ended getting seated in the back of the restaurant. It was nice having some privacy in the back. We ordered the stuffed jalapenos and seaweed salad to start, both were amazing. We got the Waimea and Endless Summer rolls for our mains. We really loved the Waimea. The Endless Summer was good, but we thought it would be spicier. This sliced ginger was also dry and stringy which was unfortunate. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely co.e back.

Came here for the first time last night and WOW! The fish is so fresh, and the rolls are super creative, tasty, and diverse. I usually go to Harney in Oceanside but I actually think Mikko has better quality fish and better rolls! We had the Carlsbad roll, surfs up roll, salmon scallop and albacore nigiri, and the chicken katsu. Everything was a 20/10. We will definately be back and I can't wait to try more menu items!

Mikko Sushi is outstanding! Very fresh fish and generous portions. The service is wonderful too. Alliiana, Patrick, Bethzy, and the entire staff are friendly, polite and attentive. Sashimi and rolls are masterfully made and cooked meals are equally delicious! If you enjoy Maka (cheek), try the Salmon or Hamachi Maka. Listed as an appetizer but far larger more meat than one person can eat. Their prices are good too! Best sushi in town, or anywhere! read more

I've been coming here for lunch a few times now, and honestly, the bento boxes during lunch hour are so worth it. It comes with an entree, I chose Teriyaki chicken and 4 pieces of the sushi/ side of mixed tempura. The sushi here is legit, too. I'm obsessed with their spicy California rolls; they have just the right amount of heat that makes every bite exciting without being too much. The dynamite sushi is another must-try; it's creamy, crunchy, and full of flavor, perfect if you like something savory. And the Philadelphia roll is always spot-on -- that combo of salmon and cream cheese is comfort food for me. The service is quick and workers are nice. Sometimes the parking can be tough, I recommend parking a little further down and walking. read more

I love me a good Mikkos dinner for you and your friends or family to just have a nice night out. I've been coming to the mikkos in carlsbad or the one here throughout the past like decade or something and am just happy the quality is consistent. Mikkos has a normal interior, great service, good size of a menu, 4.2/5 freshness on the sushi, and doubles great for takeout. it's the type of place you think of first when you want to go to get sushi. My go to order is the chirashi bowl, spicy garlic edamame, and a hand roll of my mood's choice. read more

Best Sushi joint in Vista. Always love taking family very good. Wish the location was bigger sad since they closed the carlsbad location. I think the sushi's on par with some of the local competitors but love the ambiance and consistency. I would recommend this to anyone in the area. read more

4.5 stars This is my first time coming to this restaurant. My husband and I were walking down main street and saw this sushi restaurant. Looked it up on yelp and decided to give it a chance. We loved it! The food options are good. The price wasn't that bad, but still kinda pricey. We loved the sushi roll with the sliced lemon on top. We've already eaten here twice! Mokki sushi is our favorite sushi spot in Vista. Decent portions, reasonably priced, excellent staff, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and warm. The outside seating area is nice, as well. I LOVE the sushi here! It tastes so fresh! My favorites are the Carlsbad roll, the beach break is the , the Escondido roll, the grilled salmon salad, and their udon and miso hits so well in the winter . Literally so good. They have always been very speedy with bringing the food out and the employees here are always so kind and understanding. Out of ever sushi place I have had in all of San Diego, this restaurant is in my top three I am a total foodie so I love trying new food constantly! read more

Sad to walk away, but the service and quality have tanked. I used to really enjoy Mikko, but the recent inconsistency and poor service have finally pushed me away. During my last few visits, I couldn't even get a simple water refill--I was completely ignored. When I brought it up to the cashier, he dismissively asked, "Well, did you ask?" which is incredibly rude. To top it off, my last order of niguiri was half the size it usually is--the smallest portions I've seen at any sushi spot. I left disappointed and won't be back. read more

We're always impressed with Mikko Sushi in Vista. They don't miss!! We had the Waimea roll, Escondido roll, and the beef yakisoba, and everything was on point. The rolls were fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. The beef yakisoba was a standout -- tangy, savory, and seriously delicious. One of those dishes you keep thinking about after you leave. Big shout-out to our waitress Allii -- she was warm, bubbly, and genuinely made the experience better. Attentive without hovering, and just really pleasant to interact with. Great food, great service, relaxed vibe. We'll definitely be back to work through more of the menu. read more

Came on a Monday night, seated right away. We sat on the patio and ordered, despite being busy, our food came out quick! Everything tasted so fresh. Sashimi was by far my favorite-yellowtail, ahi and salmon. We got the Escondido and Carlsbad rolls. They were good but felt like they were missing a flavor. I also ordered a Philly hand roll but it never came out. I would definitely go back for the sashimi though! read more

We had Mikko Sushi to-go take to the Moonlight Amphitheatre. Never again. My husband ordered the Spicy Seafood Salad, and said it was good. I on the other hand had the Grilled Salmon Salad. #notgood The salmon was NOT only grilled but it was BURNED. And dry. And was like JERKY SALMON. The lettuce in the salad was not fresh. Our Shishito Peppers were lackluster. So, we will NOT order from Mikko Sushi in Vista again. EVER..... read more

Delicious and quick! We ordered a few dishes for pick-up, and the person taking the order made sure to repeat everything back to us & our order was prepared perfectly; they even remembered our extra chili oil (highly recommend, by the way!) The rolls were fresh tasting, the appetizers were warm and flavorful, and the pick up process was easy. Everything looked so beautiful, even after being in to-go containers. I definitely can't wait to try more next time I'm in town, and those spicy scallop hand rolls? Perfection. read more

We had an array of delicious rolls and appetizers. The fish was fresh, the sauces were good, they didn't skip on the toppings, the service was great. I have zero complaints on this place. My BIL states that he comes here fairly often and so he wanted to bring us, and I can totally see why. This was a great find. read more

We were headed down from Bonsall and a guide recommended Mikko Sushi to us! We decided to take her suggestion as we drove down into Vista. - PARKING - There's a few limited spots right in front of the restaurant, otherwise you may have to drive down a few blocks and walk over! - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - There were a good amount of tables and seating arrangements available, including the sushi bar. We had no problem grabbing a booth on a Saturday afternoon near 1pm. Staff was attentive with water refills, but they did end up forgetting an item until we reminded them. Otherwise all the other food items came out fairly quickly. I do think their menu is a bit overwhelming with all the text, and although they give a separate menu with just photos, it would be nice not having to look back and forth for reference. - FOOD - We got a variety of rolls including: - Mikko - Dragon - Shrimp Crunch - Beach Break They were all very good and gave us a nice selection of flavors and fish. We also got the Salmon Skin Salad which is the item they had forgotten about until the end, and also a few nigiri that were good as well. - OVERALL - A nice place to bring your family and friends if they're craving some affordable sushi. read more

I've been to Mikko Sushi many times, and I recently had the pleasure of dining here with an exceptional experience from start to finish. What truly set this visit apart was the outstanding customer service, special thanks to Crystal, who made our evening memorable, and the quality of the fresh fish! From the moment we walked in, Crystal greeted us with a warm and genuine smile. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. It's rare to find someone who genuinely cares about your dining experience, and Crystal exemplified this perfectly. I firmly believe that Crystal has a tremendously positive impact on Mikko Sushi's business! Now, onto the sushi--absolutely incredible! The quality and freshness of the fish were immediately evident. Each piece was meticulously prepared, showcasing the chefs' expertise and attention to detail. We tried a variety of rolls, sashimi, and small plates. Every bite was a delightful burst of flavor. Our favorite rolls are Samurai and Omega 3. The sashimi plate was amazing as well! Definitely recommend! A few highlights included their toro and yellowtail, which both melted in our mouths. The ingredients were all fresh and the presentation was beautiful. The sushi chefs seemed very kind too. The ambiance at Mikko Sushi is also worth mentioning. I rarely write reviews, but my recent experience with Mikko Sushi in Vista through UberEats compels me to share. This was an exceptionally frustrating dining experience, far below the standards one would expect from any restaurant. Firstly, the majority of our order was missing upon delivery. We only received the baked mussels, while the rest of our order was nowhere to be found. This was not just a minor oversight, but a significant error in fulfilling the order. When we attempted to address this issue by calling the restaurant, the experience further deteriorated. The staff we spoke with were not only unhelpful but also dismissive. We were repeatedly transferred from one employee to another, leading to a circular and unproductive conversation. Moreover, the assertion from the staff that we were lying about the missing items was both shocking and unprofessional. It's one thing to make a mistake; it's entirely another to accuse a customer of dishonesty when they bring it to your attention. To make matters worse, we were denied the opportunity to speak with a manager. This lack of accountability is concerning and not something I would expect from a reputable establishment. Additionally, our request for a refund for the missing items was flatly refused, leaving us both out of pocket and without most of our meal. In conclusion, the service we experienced was well below par, characterized by a lack of responsibility and customer care. It's disheartening, as we had hoped for a pleasant meal from Mikko Sushi. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant and strongly recommend you take your money elsewhere. read more

I ordered a few sushi rolls through DoorDash and specifically requested no avocado due to an allergy. Unfortunately, the rolls arrived with avocado, even though the receipt clearly showed my request. When I called the restaurant, I explained the situation and mentioned I couldn't drive back due to a knee injury. Without hesitation, the woman I spoke with sincerely apologized and offered to personally remake and deliver the rolls herself. Within 15 minutes, she showed up with fresh, correct rolls and even included a complimentary miso soup for the inconvenience. That level of customer service is rare these days, especially when the order wasn't placed directly through the restaurant. The sushi was delicious, and the effort they put into making things right really stood out. She gave me the best service I've ever had in my life. SERIOUSLY. She was beyond personable, knew the menu like the back of her hand, and even helped me pick the perfect sake. Mikko Sushi understood the assignment. The food was stupid good. Like pause-mid-bite, look at your plate, and rethink your standards good. The Beach Break roll?? I fear nothing will ever top it. Officially my favorite sushi roll of all time and I'm not being dramatic (ok maybe a little, but it's deserved). And Luna. Absolute gem. Drinks never empty, always checking in without hovering, and just genuinely on it. The kind of service that makes you relax and enjoy your meal instead of waving awkwardly for attention. We had several rolls, sashimi,and entrees but mango, dynamite, chicken Teriyaki.....were my favorite Mango was refreshing and sweet, dynamite was bigger than I thought and it was nutty Chicken teriyaki...one of my favorite menu, chicken was so soft and I love the sauce!!!! We're regulars at Mikko and this past weekend we were reminded why. Even on a busy Saturday the host (Larson) was friendly and had us seated after only a short wait. For dinner, we went all in and ordered appetizers, sashimi, and ramen. Everything was excellent as always. I want to shout out Alli who took care of us. Amazing experience. I came here the first time a couple weeks ago, came back for a second visit tonight. Our server, Alliiana, suggested four rolls- and they were all amazing. The flavor profiles are perfectly balanced- nothing overpowering. The use of sauce was just right- a nice accent and not the whole dish like some sushi places. I have to say that I was new to sushi and wasn't sure what to try. The staff here was very helpful and the manager helped me personally and explained some of the different items on the menu. I love this place, because Mikko has always fresh tuna, not frozen. All rolls has decent size & quality, too. Most of all, l love the interior (Vista location). Haha.. Good feeling w/my family whenever I visit to Vista location. Carlsbad Mikko is too cloud n loud sometimes, but Vista Mikko is a kind of calm n relaxing mood. I recommand always~~~ read more

We had a great experience at Mikko Sushi, thanks largely to our server, Larson. He was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was taken care of without being overbearing. My wife and I have been eating here for years! It's our go to sushi joint, where the quality is always on point, along with the staff. Larson always takes care of our seating and has a great personality, then Alianna and Kenny just kill it on service. They keep us coming every weekend like clockwork. read more
