I'm so happy that Mikono's opened up here. After living in Manhattan and enjoying the "good life" with Greek diners I have sorely missed having good Greek food that is easily accessible. Bonus that it's close to my job so we can go there or order delivery for Lunch. The Avogolemono is among some of the best I have ever had and is something I suggest everyone try. The Spanakoptikia appetizer is large enough to eat as a meal in and of itself with the addition of the lemon potatoes and a small salad. Their gyros and souvlaki are delicious and the Tzatziki is the best. I always ask for extra. When dining in the staff is very friendly and willing of offer their suggestion when you just can choose from all the deliciousness. Ordering pick up is quick, easy, and painless and finally Delivery is quick and courteous but a bit of a bummer at having to order $25 in food before having this as an option. read more

Ok, let's talk about Mykonos. We had eaten here with friends in September of 2014, and had a great evening. Food was on point, delicious slightly altered versions of Greek classics. Service was fine, setting was fine for basically a converted diner, no complaints. I'm not sure what happened since then. Our second visit was sorely lacking on all counts, bad enough that I find myself opening a Yelp account specifically to warn others away. We dined at Mykonos again in November of 2014. Long story short, ant in my wife's soup, chipped glassware, poorly timed service and just ok food was capped off by the manager "apologizing" for the ant in soup with a story about his father eating a bowlful of soup with ants prepared by his wife...not exactly a comforting tale. Finally, a yelp coupon was denied, even though the coupon was still posted on yelp with no expiration date or cancellation notice. At the end of the evening, there was no make good on the soup, no coupon honored, and two customers who will not be returning again. At least we did not cut ourselves on the glassware, so I suppose it's not all bad. The lemon potatoes are good. One star out of five. Highly disappointed, will not be going back. A little expensive and the decor a bit shabby but the food is amazing. The whole grilled fish was incredible, the lemon potatoes perfectly cooked. My wife had a roast lamb with orzo that was rich and delicious. Everything is cooked from scratch and it really tastes like it. Very authentic, I highly recommend it. read more

Heads up: its BYOB and they'll give you wine glasses. I had pretty low expectations when we went here for dinner on a recent Friday: its in a converted space that was pretty ugly before, its Greek, which often goes wrong, and its in Ewing, which also often goes wrong. Walking in it feels like Italian places in town--really informal and rather diner-y. Unlike the food and service at those Italian places, which I'm usually disappointed by, the food and service at Mikonos fly way above the setting. Once you get past the half-walls that reveal the kitchen on your left, and get past a tight bank of diner booths on your right, and then get past the register/server station, you come to a much more pleasant dining room, with blue and white tablecloths, cute light fixtures, and tasteful wall art. Its a little unevenly lit, but its fine. The avgolemono (chicken soup) was so good--the broth was silken, and very chickeny with a lemon highlight. The grape leaves were tender, large, and tasty. The Greek sausage had been split lengthwise and grilled on both sides, so it was crispy and dry on the outside but juicy on the inside. The vegetarian sampler was really good. I loved the spicy feta dip. The dinner dishes were stylish white ceramic and all of the plates were garnished. Our server was very good. She was helpful with the menu and did the rest of her job really well, too. No TV in the dining room which is so great! We were trying to figure out why they leave ketchup and hot sauce bottles on the table, because they betray the nice dishes, skilled service, and fantastic food that make you feel like you're out for a nice dinner. My SO suggested that it might be a strategy to keep the restaurant from feeling too nice for everyday casual Ewing dining, which might keep diners away. They do big lunch business, and they do American breakfast service, so it makes sense that there are condiments around, but it would be nicer if they'd take them off the tables for dinner. read more

We try to eat vegan but will settle for vegetarian when we go out so the veggie options on the Mikonos menu drew us in. For $54 we had an appetizer of hummus with extra pita, app of the gigantes, entree of spanakopita which included a salade and an order of chicken soulaki (yes, not veggie, but it was worth it)! Everything was delicious! Our server, Meg, was a delight and we enjoyed watching the owner (?) do magic tricks for the kids at the table across the room. Excellent menu, excellent food and excellent service. Prices were reasonable and the ambience was very nice. We discovered a dessert called Galagtobureko and it was incredible. I don't know much about Greek food, but the servers are knowledgeable and everything I've ever tried here is delicious. It's a BYOB and they provide glasses for your beverages. It's nice to have something different than the usual Italian fare you find in this area. There is an amazing appetizer (don't recall the name) that is a chunk of cheese that is served flaming table side. It's like a mozzarella stick but without the breading. If you're not sure about trying something unusual, they have gyro's, as well as a chicken skewer dish that is delicious. I would give this place five stars, however the service has been inconsistent. One day the service is out of this world, and other times it's just okay. Great hidden gem in Ewing, definitely give it a try! read more

I've tried this place a hand full of times now and have always thought the food was delicious, especially the lemon potatoes and pita bread! I recently gave their takeout service a try (lunch hours) via Yelp and am pretty impressed. My order was hot and ready as soon as I walked in. The server who helped me was prompt and friendly. I ordered the Veggie wrap, a total game changer! Absolutely loved it & will definitely will be going back soon for it. Really appreciated the great service. I would give it two stars because the food is ok and I have eaten there plenty of times, but I was mistreated to a level that I haven't seen before at any restaurant. I am not a person who would typically write a review but this is urgent based on the way I was treated. I really don't care overall about the money but the owner or manager or whoever he was, was not very pleasant and I would call his attitude today unprofessional particularly for the restaurant business. For the little money we're talking about he has lost our families business. When I came into the store to voice a complaint about being over charged for take out and not getting two salads that I paid for, first I was interrupted. Then, no lie, I was told that business is business and he started to compare his misleading on line menu prices to what happens when you go to a gas station (I have no idea what point he was trying to make as it made little sense). The prices on their on line menu are very different when you actually pay the bill. On line menu for Lamb Soulvaki Platter, 19.00, but charged 25.00. Also ordered two Beef Gyros. On line menu price 14.00 but charged 15.00 ea. This issue goes on and on. Lentil soup, once again advertised on line at 4.50 for a bowl 6.00 though when you pay for it. Not even a simple apology for the lack of service (no salad that I paid for and I gave them a 4.00 tip). He basically told me that he could care less about my business. Stay far away from this establishment; grossly overrated with terrible service and a shortsighted owner/manager. I have been here for lunch a few times and dinner a couple of times. Food is reasonably good -- nothing too special. Servers are good -- well most of them. The last time I ordered take out about 3 months ago, there was some confusion about the price -- basically was charged something like $35 for 2 orders of chicken souvlaki platters, where as the menu I had, said $9/platter. Apparently, they had recently changed their pricing and per the server there, I was being charged based on the new menu. When I pointed out that the chicken souvlaki platter was still showing up as $9 or something on the new menu, I was told that the $9 was a lunch only special price. Did not want to create a scene, so paid and went home (a 10 min drive). About 10 mins later, I got a call from the owner stating that I am entitled to a refund since the Chicken souvlaki platter had only 4 pieces, the price was indeed $9/order and not the higher price for 6 pieces that was I charged. I was given the option of returning the food and getting a full refund OR getting a partial discount. Obviously I was pissed off at this point (primarily at the lady taking orders) and decided to return the food and get a full refund. Owner looked and sounded apologetic and I would have actually given a 3 star rating had it not been for the lady who took the order -- she was extremely impatient and rude and cost them a star in my books. read more

I've only been here once, but my girlfriend's been here a few times, so I think that allows me an authoritative review. The food is really excellent. I recommend anything with a lemon and caper sauce. I had a fish special, which was just perfect. The vegetables were delicious. The lemon potatoes are a treat. You have to take advantage of the BYOB, because the food is too good to not pair with wine. I also appreciated their vegetarian appetizer sampler plate, which makes a scrumptious meal on its own. This was a surprise for sure. I think they did a great job with the renovation given what it was prior. The service was good; knowledgable about the menu. The food was very good. I had the lamb and beef gyro which was delicious. The only true negative was that they charge $1.50 for a refill on unsweetened iced tea - soft drink refills were free....? I very rarely walk out of a place without giving it a chance. Wanted to try their Greek salad for lunch and possibly order dinner for the family for later tonight. When I walked in the place was hot and in need of AC and it looked dingy too. I came for an early lunch around 11:25 and the place was empty save one guy sitting at a booth eating! I was directed to a very small table and went to wash my hands. When I came out I asked if I could get a booth and was told by the nice waiter that he will have to ask the manager since lunch can get busy. I told him I am early, it's empty and I don't plan on eating for a long time. When he walked over to the manager the manager wry sternly and nastily said no! Empty place, not comfortable environment, dingy looking, dirty bathroom, and don't give a shit about the customer. This was a formula to leave, since so I did. Hummus is homemade and full of flavor. Beef and lamb gyro is AMAZING! But the lemon potatoes are the real shining star of the meal. Everything here is great and the staff is wonderful. This is a great little gem of a greek place that has excellent food, good service and is very affordable. I went at lunch time and got the gyro platter, and the funny thing was that as good as the gyro meet was, the lemon potatoes stole the show and the side salad was excellent as well. This is the only Greek place I have ever been to and I love their food. I have been here a couple of times and have had mixed experiences with the staff. The manager is however a very nice person. My favorite food here is their Ola Mazi . Its the best vegetarian dish I have had so far. The zucchini patty, Spanakopita , I love everything about it. Its a huge dish that they say serves 2 but it easily serves 3 people. I am giving them 4 stars because of the inconsistency in the taste sometimes because I come pretty often. Eat there last week with a friend and we split the bill. As he had more than I did, he left the tip. When my credit card bill arrived there was a $3 tip added to my bill. The server stole $3 from me, as he wrote in were I have left the tip section blank. Talked with the owner and he acknowledged the tip had been added he made no effort to fix the situation. I have been to Mikonos at least a dozen times the past few years. The interior is lovely with vibrant images of Greece, bright blue chairs, and very cool light fixtures. Service is attentive and friendly. What truly sets Mikonos apart is the best gyro I've found in years. Fresh, hot, crispy edges and that perfectly spiced flavor of the lamb and beef combines with cool fresh tzatziki and the crisp lettuce and onions. All of that wrapped in a perfectly soft, chewy, ever so gently toasted pita. It is a big gyro too. Loaded up with meat and for lots of folks you'll have enough to take some home. Seriously, it is perfect in every way. It comes with a side and their fries or their lemon potatoes are great. I've had their chicken (also excellent) and spanakopita, but for me, the gyro is where the journey starts and ends. Come get one and you will be a happy camper. read more
