Absolutely delicious food! Taste like home cooking and its made with love. The chef took our orders and food came out steaming hot. Our party of three ordered hummus, gigantes (bean appetizer), souvlaki platters (pork and chicken), and chicken gyro platter. The grilled meats were juicy and flavorful. The platters were portioned out nicely- just enough of everything. Lemon potatoes are so simple, but so damn good. I got some baklava to go for dessert tonight. I really missed this place during the stay at home order. I don't live in the area, but I was so glad that we made the trip to dine here. read more

This is a place we frequent for lunch from work. One of the most authentic Mediterranean food I've had, the food is absolutely delicious. The gyros, platters come with freshly grilled meat that's juicy and full of flavors. I always do a half and half of lamb and chicken which is not on the menu but they happily do it when requested :) Unfortunately I do not have any photos of the food at the moment. Their lemon potatoes and tzatziki sauce are to die for. Apart from Baklava, do try their other desserts they are all pretty good! Service is pretty good most of the times, rare occasions of someone not attending the table for a long time when they get extremely busy, but that's understandable. Five stars !! read more

Never knock on Groupon, because it could lead to an awesome find like Mykonos! Came here and had a Greek feast! Appetizers: Bacon wrapped scallops - which you could never go wrong with. Fried zucchinni pancakes with tzasiki sauce - crispy, pancake perfection. Entrees: 1.Pork soulvaki with pita - Perfectly seasoned chunks of pork, grilled to perfection. Combined with a few slices of pita, tzasiki sauce and giant wedges of potato. Worth every bite. If I could go back, I'd skip the 2 appetizers and get this. 2. Spanakopita - spinach, feta cheese in filo dough heaven. I am usually a firm beleiver in the chicken gyro, but decided to try something different today because I asked the waitress what she recommended. She was a vegetarian, so I swung for the other team that night and boy was I happily surprised. Desert: Freshly made baklava. I don't know why you would ever leave a Greek joint without some baklava, but in case you made the mistake, go back. Then go to Halo farms and get some Tahiti Vanilla Bean ice cream to dabble on top. Then hit the gym, hard. As if this place could not get any better, it's BYOB, it has a private lot and it's pretty empty with ample seating for big parties. I do take the 1 star away because the service took kind of long, also if I didn't have a Groupon I would've paid nearly $80 for my meal (that's prolly worth $20). I really like this place and the food is good. That being said....I was there yesterday 3/16/2024 and was seated by the manager/owner. We were served by this person and that was the last we saw of him. No checking back on how we were doing, no checking to see if we needed another drink, no nothing. A "busser" took the payment. A waitress was there but completely ignored us. I don't know why we left a tip! I should have left nothing. I looked for the guy that originally served us....nowhere to be found. This place is practically right in my backyard but because I so seldom drive this way, I never gave it much thought. I recently had a craving for Avgolemono and Dolmas and thought to call them; I was delighted to find what I wanted as menu offerings. The restaurant interior had a nice warm feel to it, diner-esque, more warm and unique than most others I've been to. This is one of the few Greek restaurants that I have been to that has REAL authentic Greek food. It tastes just as good as my mother's cooking (probably better, but don't tell her that), and she has been cooking Greek cuisine for over 50 years. I came here for a birthday dinner, the venue is very similar style to traditional restaurants in Greece with blue and white table cloths and the blue wooden chairs. It is also BYOB, so definitely bring a bottle of wine to compliment your Mediterranean dishes! We ordered a variety of appetizers that included their keftedes (Greek styled meatballs), their hot melted saganaki cheese (that they light on fire in front of you), and calamari. All I would highly recommend, the fried calamari is nice and thick and tastes delicious, not overly fried. We also received complimentary pitas with spreads. For the main entrees we ordered pork souvlaki platter, chicken souvlaki, gyro, and liga apo ola (a little bit of everything platter)! All dishes come with a Greek salad which they compiled into one large bowl that could be distributed family style. The souvlaki was delicious but my favorite dish was the Liga Apo Ola which gives you a taste of different traditional dishes such as pastitsio, mousaka, spanakopita, lemon potatoes, and stuffed grape leaves. In search of a local Greek restaurant, I stumbled upon this place on Yelp and I'm sure glad I did! For a small venue, the food here packs huge flavor and is a real treat. With everything made from scratch and the owner walking around to personally greet each customer, you feel like family! The table cloths, chairs, and pictures set the scene for a beautiful Greek oasis while you dig into some native food. The restaurant contained a handful of couples and friends silently chatting and enjoying some delicious food. My mom and I attended Mykonos on a weeknight around 5:30 to celebrate her birthday. We had been in the mood for Greek for a while, so we wanted to try a bit of everything. The menu has the perfect amount of choices, with so many appetizers and platters to choose from! We decided on spanakopita for appetizer and it was really tasty. The phyllo dough was buttery and flaked right off the spinach and ricotta middle; with the amount of dill seasoned just right. We each got a small house salad with our entrees and was light and refreshing. It had onions, tomatoes, olives, peppers, and a hearty amount of feta on top. For my main dish, I chose the Mediterranean chicken with sun dried tomatoes, feta, olives, and chicken in a blush sauce over pasta. It was creamy but not too rich, and had the slightest bit of cinnamon. All the flavors worked really well together and it was an exquisite match of creamy with a dash of sweet. My mom ordered the moussaka and it was also cooked to perfection! The remoulade on top was fluffy and thick, with the most tasty lamb underneath. The lemon potatoes went really well with the dish and just hit the spot. The food was excellent and satisfied my Greek craving for sure! I want to rave about this place to all my friends so they can have a taste of these authentic dishes for themselves. After an okay first experience we figured we'd try again. We were greeted and sat right away. Unfortunately they must have been short handed as food service from the kitchen was extremely slow this time, 5pm Sunday. My wife ordered the beef & lamb gyro which was what you'd expect. We did ask for the fries to be swapped out for their lemon potatoes, server brought out after we inquired upon plate presentation. I ordered the pikilia Thalssima appetizer-- octopus, calamari and shrimp and boy this was a large app. Cooked nicely, had a good flavor and no skimping on the amount of food. The reviews are generally very good for this greek restaturant. However I feel the menu is quite limiting when I compare with our old regular Greek establishment in Manhattan-- Uncle Nicks on 9th Ave in Hell's Kitchen. The volume of grilled fish options, shrimp kabobs and the like. Everything was fingering licking great coming off their grill. Just thinking about it we made plans to head back to Manhattan for a day and dine at Uncle Nicks. read more

It's often a challenge to find good Greek food in New Jersey, but this Mercer County spot fits the bill. Out with a friend for an early dinner on a balmy Sunday evening, Mikonos offered up quick service and a menu of familiar eats (gyro, souvlaki, moussaka,et al) with some less common choices (a wide range of lamb dishes, stuffed eggplant). We both kept it simple with a gyro platter: the plate was overflowing with wedges of warm and chewy pita, nicely tart lemon potatoes, and strips of well spiced, just-charred-enough lamb/beef with an appropriately tangy tzatziki on the side. I was thinking "Mykonos" as we drove to Mikonos Restaurant on Scotch Road in Ewing, NJ. The Aegean island is a place I hung out for a while in an earlier life, drinking Gerovasilliou and Agiorgitiko to excess in the harbor side tabernas by day and surrendering to the liltingly haunting Bouzoukis by night. I couldn't share my reveries, but I wondered how close to my recollections this Greek house by the same name would come to those wild Hellonic daze. It wasn't fair to even entertain the possibility that there would be any similarity; after all, that was life in a mystic age long gone from this coil. Still, it did serve to awaken something long dormant, and while this is the age of dark cynicism, the place had enough pictures on the walls and aromas wafting through the room to allow for a moment of silent appreciation. Wine saturated memories are sometimes enough. The food was pretty good, too. Our opening salvo of Avgo Lemono Soup was Star Dog Champion delicious. Creamy, Lemon bite, soft Chicken chunks, and Rice. Our three spoons fought for each drop. The follow up for two of us was the tour de force Liga Apo Ola for 2, a huge platter with ample Moussaka, Spanakopeta, Pastitsio, Dolmades, and maybe something else I have forgotten, served with a metal spatula to aid in distribution. They were all exceptional, although the Stuffed Grape Leaves had more dry rice filling than I recall from past experiences. My guests had never eaten Greek cuisine before, and they were so impressed that they tried to duplicate the Lemon Soup at home the next day. Our third member ordered a Chicken Souvlaki Platter. It looked great (see photo), but my taste of the chicken surprised me with the strange toughness of the meat. He gamely ate everything, but I could tell he was struggling with it. A large slab of Moussaka from our plate was the least we could do to help him out. But for that last bit of news, this was a 5 Star dinner. We will return in due course for the Avgo Lemono and further exploration of the menu. Those Gyros that went by looked amazing! read more

We went to Mikonos expecting big things based on the slew of 4 and 5 star ratings, but ultimately left disappointed and hungry. We arrived at noon on Saturday and there was nobody else in the entire place. My wife took that (along with dated decor and the sparsely stocked and sad looking dessert case at the entrance) as an omen. Nevertheless we decided to proceed. First things first. In 8 years of Yelping, this is literally the first place I've been to where they didn't have a normal, functional high chair for kids. Typically, restaurants have the generic wood or plastic ones with a snap belt on it, something that most parents have seen at a million places. At Mikonos, they had some circa 1990, second hand looking, Fisher Price high chair with a defective safety belt on it. And, to top it off, it was dirty and stained; the tray, the seat, the belt, everything. Filthy. Major turnoff. We decided to not use it and to be honest, they should really be embarrassed to offer something like that to a customer. Anyway, we finally got situated and ordered up the lentil and vegetable soup, the chicken gyro and the lamb souvlaki. Both entrees came with lemon potatoes, tzatziki and a side salad. The soup was nice. Good flavor. Lots of lentils and vegetables. My wife suspected it came from a can, but I disagreed and felt that the vegetables were too fresh to be canned. Maybe the lentils were canned, I'm not 100% sure. Overall though, the soup was a nice and hearty appetizer (for me anyway). We waited around a bit for the main course and when it finally arrived we thought the plates looked nice. Unfortunately, the quality of the lamb was very poor. It was so tough and filled with fat and sinew that it was nearly impossible to cut up, even with a pretty sharp steak knife. Needless to say, it was impossible to eat (or even chew) the meat on either of the 2 skewers. So disappointing. When asked by the waitress if everything was okay, we showed her the low quality lamb. She conferred with the chef who then offered us 1 complimentary skewer, which we refused. We felt that this wasn't a very good solution considering that 2 skewers (not 1) sucked, and also, we weren't sure whether the replacement souvlaki would be any better. As for the chicken gyro, it was definitely better than the lamb and came well seasoned, but it really wasn't a gyro. It seemed to be lightly sauteed. I'm pretty sure this would be a major faux pas at any serious Greek place. Maybe in Ewing it passes muster because nobody knows or cares what a proper gyro is. Who knows? I also felt like the chicken wasn't freshly cooked, but rather reheated. The color and texture made me think it had been sitting in the fridge and was just given a quick spin around the hot pan. The end result wasn't awful, but it wasn't really impressive either. As for the sides, the potatoes were really good and had a lovely, bold lemon flavor while the tzatziki was superbly rich with a strong dill flavor. We liked them a lot. The side salad was a throwaway, mostly chopped romaine with half a cherry tomato and some onion strands. Nothing that we haven't seen at a million Mediterranean places. Mikonos is a very hard restaurant to rate. On the one hand, the soup was decent, 2 of the 3 sides were good, and the service was pleasant. So there were some good aspects that, on their own, would warrant a few stars. However, serving 2 seriously substandard meat dishes and providing a broken/dirty high chair are big mistakes that a veteran restaurant should not be making. Overall, the negatives far outweigh the positives. Mikonos rates one star for me. Really disappointing experience. read more

Was taken here for my birthday, was not disappointed. The grilled octopus is a must order. Succulent and tender chunks of octopus on a bed of greens with a tart lemon vinaigrette. I ordered the Liga Apo Ola, a sizeable platter with spanikopita, pastichio, moussaka, a stuffed grape leaf, and lemon potatoes. Everything was good, the portion was huge. Save space though, the baklava is killer. Get here early, they stop seating well before closing. Or even better, call ahead an order to go. Just be sure to get the octopus and baklava. read more

This place has only been open a couple of months -- it's located in the old Stewarts Root Beer stand. I've tried it twice: the first time was take out, the second was dine in. For take out, the beef/lamb gyro platters were great. They're served with salad, pita, rice, and tzatziki. Dine in was spotty -- the lamb platter and the stuffed chicken breast were too well cooked -- dry and tough. The lamb souvlaki, however, was wonderful -- rare and tender. The service was a little slow, but I chalked that up to new staff and kitchen and expect it will improve. For now, I recommend the street food fare -- gyros and souvlaki, but I'll go back and try other dishes. read more

Food was really good. I wish I could give it 5 stars but my main complaint is that the staff is obviously overwhelmed. Staffing struggles always lead to service issues. The two entrees, soup and two apps took a hour to obtain when we were quoted far less time upon ordering. To make things worse food was missing from our takeaway and it was our most expensive item (octopus). Upon calling them to highlight the missing item the Restaurant offered either store credit or to Venmo a refund. Given all the pandemic uncertainty, we opted for the Venmo refund and we are still waiting our $18. Front of house host left a little to be desired. We know this is a tough industry right now so we will try to keep an open mind and hope that this local joint survives the next few months so we can try it again under better circumstances. read more
