So sad about this review-however...I felt like I was being "targeted" as a non educated women consumer-wow...I brought my car in for an oil change (a co-worker/friend) highly recommended this place and since I live in Millbrae-a double plus. They try to sell me new brakes, new tires, air filters each time I come in...dam, all I want is an oil change/tire rotation. Will never bring my car here again. I needed to Smog my car. I was trying to find a place that was open at 8 since I had to be at work by 9. Until my service was done here and they gave me a business card and receipt, I didn't notice I came to the wrong 76 that I thought opened at 8 instead of 8:30. Turned into the "right 76" after the great service Rob gave me. I asked this guy, who was Rob, "I thought you guys opened at 8. That's what it said on Yelp. I needed a smog :( ". He told me 8:30 and his smog tech doesn't get in until 13:00. Ugh, just my luck. Then he said, well let me check if my machine is up. It was, and just out of the kindness of his heart, he did my smog for me in about 20-25 minutes, right then and there! Plus I made it to work on time. I understand this was a special case, and he pushed back stuff he needed to do in the AM to help me out, but I greatly appreciate it! Thanks Rob! read more

Gas is never cheap anywhere.. and depends where you go.. its just 10-20 cents off each other. This is pretty close to my apt, so when I need gas bekuz I'm on "E" or I wake up with a deflated tire do to a nail, I definitely am glad to drive a couple blocks to do that. The Asian man who worked at 76 on Saturday March 23 around 10:15 who ignored me when I approached the window I had to knock on the window I asked for a coke and gas as well as tabacco product and he grabbed the wrong tabacco when I tried to correct him he refused me service saying he was doing inventory all of a sudden?? Next a caucasian man approached the window to buy gas and he accepted so my friends didn't believe me so they went to the window and he refused them service saying he closes at 9 but it was 10:15 and he was assisting other customers just not us. read more

It's nice to know a mechanic you can trust. These guys have been fixing/maintaining our cars for the last 5 years now and we've been very happy with their service. They're very punctual and straight to the point. I can't say enough about these guys. Currently, they're replacing a transmission for our Honda Accord. Other people had told me that it would cost $2-3K for parts and labor. Millbrae 76 has quoted me $1.2 -1.4K for parts and labor. That is a huge difference! read more

This place is a REAL DEAL!! Reffering to auto service. I've been working on my car for a months trying to figure out whats making my car not running, been to several shops including dealership. I got couple of mechanic friends thats trying to work on my car too... And they still cannot figure out" they told me to come to this place and let them diagnose my car. First of all i dont wanna go to auto shops cuz im on a "BUDGET" i dont wanna pay too much, thats why im figuring it out my self. I know how how to work on cars too! I usually do it my self. But this guys is really nice, they gave me a good deal they let my car stayed with them for couple days to diagnose it. I was scared that they might charge me so much" cuz dealership asking for $140 for a quick diagnose!! Thats why i took my car out right away... And this guys ( reffering to 76 auto service) they been communicating with me the whole "time" while they working with my car for 2 days. They waived off my diagnose fee plus they checked my alignment for free!! Their cheap but 5 star service. I've been a customer of firestone for 5 YRS!!! And i was never been treated like this. yesterday morning...worn front tire finally ripped apart...cold morning change with spare tire off 101...drive to work and order two new tires from tirerack.com..picked the cheaper ground shipping option...today morning....two new tires delivered...five stars for tirerack.com....called around....san bruno hanlon quoted $twenty per tire out-the-door to install....76 quoted $twenty-five each...$ten more for two tires, but faster service and convenient...76 speedy fast....quick drop off and pick up within an hour....lightening quick service....$fifty total to get two tires replaced.... read more

Gas station RAN OUT OF GAS!!!!! I was filling up gas here when all of the pumps stopped working. There were about 7 cars getting gas at the station. The workers went to investigate and 10 minutes later came back to tell everyone they were out of regular and plus gas. Only had premium. What kind of gas station runs out of gas?!? I recommend calling first to see if they have gas before wasting your time coming here. read more

I came here to get my smog checked and it was fast and easy. There was no wait at the time I rolled in, was assisted very quickly and done in less than half an hour. I have to say I was intimidated going solo without my husband, but was quickly put to ease as Deborah made the experience less intimidating. She is awesome! I believe I met the service mgr (sorry, can't remember his name) but he was just as friendly! I've never had my car serviced here but only get gas. Its convenient to be sure if not pricey. One thing that gets me though is almost half of the receipt printers on the pumps don't work and instead have notes taped on them telling you to go inside for receipt. This review is long overdue. This shop has got to be the best place for serious mechanical work. I've been here many many times. Roy, the service manager is very nice to work with and is very knowledgeable. They will not overcharge since their charges are based on preset rates listed in their book for rates on different jobs. I've had two timing belts changed on two different cars, entire set of brakes and rotors changed, and various fluid changed here. Their work was always outstanding. Especially for timing belt work. They actually torque everything according to specs with a torque wrench just like the dealers. I saved so much money coming here instead to going to the Lexus dealer. The sad thing is that I cannot find a shop in New York City that is half as good. Keep up the good work Roy and the crew. Will miss the quality work that you guys do. read more

The gas price is reasonable but the garage service is terrible since the previous manager, Roy, left. We always brought our cars for maintenance in that garage. The new manager, Tom, charged 2 hours of labor ($95/hr) for 60K maintenance. The cost was more than double for 55K maintenance we did in 04/11 when we are charged for 0.5 hour of labor. The additional 1.5 hours covers only brake fluid, cabin air filter and air filter. The previous 0.5 hour covers motor oil, oil filter, tire rotation and brake inspection. This manager claimed he charged the hours by the book. This is not the way to do business. You charge the labor by the real time spent on fixing the car. Please do not go there to be ripped off. read more

An extremely disturbing situation happened today at the 76 gas station. I manually pumped $8 on pump #5, and then drove away. Just 10 minutes later after checking my bank account balance, I FLEW back immediately to the 76 to complain that my account details showed a pending transaction of $29.38 from the 76 gas station. I was furious because there clearly was a mistake seeing as I pumped $8 in to my tank and not $29.38. The cashier explained that it was not a mistake, but just something banks do, and in the next few days the remainding $21.38 would return. What's wrong with this picture? CLEARLY, there is something wrong with the system at 76, and it's horrible that the rest of my money in my bank account is untouchable due to their unusual policies of witholding extra money upon what your purchase is. I'm never going back here again. I sure do hope the owner of this repulsive business replies with more valuable information regarding their negligent system. read more

Had our '96 GMC van here for a tune up and brakes. They took care of us and have always been happy to help if anything is wrong with our aging van. They show the old parts to you after being replaced and have put us before others when we are in a bind. Thanks for great service. *UPDATE* Millbrae 76 comes through again! i had a nail in my tire and took it in to get a patch. the technician came out right away and was very accommodating. he checked out my tire and used a pair of pliers to pull out the nail. he swabbed it over with a wet cloth to make sure there was no leak. he told me that the nail didn't puncture through the tire...a sigh of relief. on top of that, he checked all of my other tires to make sure that i hadn't run over any other nails...which amazed me since most mechanics at other gas stations could care less. when it was all checked and safe to go, i asked if i owed them anything. the technician kindly told me that it was his duty to keep his customers safe and that he didn't do much so there was no charge. wow, seriously...a double wow. a mechanic who didn't take advantage. now that's a good person you can trust. read more

Anytime you need a mechanic you know it's going to cost you money . But taking my car here I never feel taken advantage of . Deborah is awesome and manages their busy schedule very well . The mechanics are very knowledgeable and friendly . I like that they hire mechanics who have gone through the excellent Skyline College automotive program . My car was showing that a tire was low. I put some air in it but not too long afterwards the check tire indicator came on again. Pulled into the 76 and spoke with Rob, the shop Manager. The guys there got on it and turned out it did have a hole in it. They patched it up and got me on my way in about 20 minutes... and even topped off the fluids! This service station is outstanding and the service and friendliness is excellent. I have used this repair shop for many car repairs over the years and they consistantly are fair in price and very knowledgable. The main rep, Roy, is extremely good. Being a single woman, I have had many other auto repair shops take advantage of my lack of car knowledge by telling me I needed repairs that I didnt need at all, or charging me more than they should. I have found this 76 station a place I can totally trust to be honest and upfront. Never any hassles, and they go out of their way to please. And they are fast too, they work quickly and efficiently and call you during the day to let you know what the cost is and what they find as they go along. These guys are so real and honest with their business. They've been accomidating to my busy schedule on multiple occassions when i was trying to schedule appointments, coming in on days off and what not. They also do their work with efficiency, once i brought my mini cooper here and had a tube that was old and cracked pretty bad leaking fluid everywhere.. it was super hard to get to because how these euro cars are built. Wow--super impressed with these guys! I own a 'vintage' 1991 car and am always a bit apprehensive that my car is so antiquated, it might not pass the smog test, and I'd have to get a ton of work on it. So I call this place, and immediately was floored by the welcoming, real and down to earth manner, super friendly, saying, "Hey we're not busy, come on down now and we'll take care of you." So I pretty much fly down, because who doesn't want a smog test, right? :-) I was prepared to leave my car there and walk home, figuring I'd have to pick up my car later, but the guy said, "Just wait and we'll get it done, it shouldn't take long." I must admit I was gratified that a couple of other guys came out of the back to ogle my car and it's pristine condition for it being a quarter of a century old . . . yaas, guys, ogle my beautiful car please--I take awesome care of it and baby that thang:-) I sit there and wait, people watch, and next thing I know, they give me my paperwork, saying they've submitted the passed smog to the DMV.
