Haven't been in years, I think I know why. 2 stars Hospitality (tattooed guy needs training and proper uniform). 0 stars biscuits - They were old and hard, I put a fork and it pulverized. 0 stars for chicken fried steak, tasted store bought and reheated. It was rubbery very salty. Worse we've ever had. Their new Fried chicken benedict needs to be offered with hashbrowns, mashed potatoes with poached eggs, hollandaise AND country gravy were not appetizing at all. Did not go with this plate. This place is great for groups!!! And yes, they have a non-coloring kids menu. Millie's has fairly large portions, and you can't forget about their cinnamon rolls. Service is friendly and proactive, but every now and then, your waiter may forget to give you your check... so you sit there for an extra 15min... The staff are wonderful, the food is in good portions, and everything on the menu is delicious. I especially like the spaghetti and meatballs the tortilla soup. This place has gone downhill. They no longer offer military discount, prices have gone up, and their quality control no longer exists. On one of my visits the older Hispanic waitress refused to serve me a fresh slice of pie and was rude to me when I did not want the old slice of pie that she grabbed out of the display case that had clearly been sitting out all day. On a different visit that same lady never came to check on my table and after about 10-15 minutes of waiting for a refill I had to get up and find someone, which is no big deal normally since I understand the staff are busy but after finding someone else to get me a refill she came back to my table being rude and took another 10 minutes to bring my check after asking for it. I used to love this place but with the menu prices rising and the removal of military discount and the rude staff I am no longer eating here. read more

I take it some people like this place, but we were severely disappointed. Wife had a standard egg, bacon, and toast plate. Even just looking at it, I could tell it was not appetizing. The eggs (over easy) were not cooked properly. The toast was cold. The bacon was, thankfully, still tasty like bacon. I had the turkey dinner. I could not finish it. The mashed potatoes were awful. The turkey was rubbery. The stuffing was chewy. I guess I was just too hopeful for this dish. The service was good, so I'll give them that. I've been coming to Millie's for many many many years. I moved into the neighborhood 45 years ago! My husband and I come here at least three times a month and enjoy the people, the food and just about everything. HOWEVER... today (July 28th 2023) we noticed a new sign on the door as we entered... " Due to rising costs we have increased each menu item by $1" so I'm thinking our meal will be $3 more which in and of itself is not all that bad as we usually split a sandwich. Our usual is the chicken salad sandwich on the wonderful dark bread and have the potato salad as a side that comes with the sandwich. We did not have our usual waitress who knows our order and usually says... " the usual?" Today it was all different. We asked for the usual dark bread and was served STALE RYE bread! Stale bread that was not the bread I asked for and the portions were SMALLER!!! So now we are paying more and getting less! Not a happy camper! We heard that the business was recently purchased by a former staff member of 20 years and she is looking to rejuvenate the place. We decided to give it a try and were amazed at the quality of food. We decided to pick-up the fried chicken benedict (which was big enough for 2). While waiting for our food, we noticed they just built a giant outdoor patio and are looking to make other upgrades. My husband and I have been eating at Millie's for almost a decade now. At first we used to go to the Sepulveda/Devonshire location, but when that closed down, we followed them to their Vanowen/Balbon location. The food is THAT good. We were happy to find some of the previous staff came to the new location, especially Michelle. Everyone there is super nice and attentive. The food is really good and fresh. I especially recommend their patty melts and their blueberry blintz or coffee cake if you're into sweets. I love their vintage decor, it really adds to the diner feel and I miss dining in, but I'm more than happy to wait till things are back to normal. That's the power of Millie's. This place has okay to good food, but the service is lousy. The waiter took forever to come and take our order after we told him to come back after he puts in our appetizer order. He decides to come back about 10 mins later and that's only because his manager saw that we were waiting. Throughout the whole experience his body language and the service he provided was as if he did not want to be there and that we were holding him up from something. When he brings our food he doesn't ask if we needed anything else as he sees I have an almost empty glass of coke. He doesn't even come back to see how our food was or if we needed anything. My glass of coke was empty throughout most of my meal and he doesn't even bother to refill it until I call him over. He doesn't even say if we need anything else, I had to raise my voice to ask for napkins as he is walking away and nodding his head. I have not been here in a few years and it goes to show why stayed away for so long. I will not be frequenting this place again as I don't want to be treated like crap for a service I am paying for. read more

I had this delivered during a breakfast craving and ordered the pancakes and eggs benedict. To be honest, nothing special and I could get better for less than the $30 I spent. At least it was packaged cleanly and they didn't forget any of the condiments/extras. The pancakes were decent, they were pretty big and slightly fluffy. I ordered mine with a blueberry compote which was really just some stewed bluebs, not a compote. It came with whip cream which was slightly grainy and separated, but didn't taste bad. For syrup it comes with some prepackaged cups. Nothing much to say, it's a commercial HFCS product. 7/10. The eggs benedict were pretty disappointing. The Hollandaise sauce was very bland and watery, not thick and rich like it should be. The eggs themselves were fine, more over medium than easy. I would've preferred poached, which again is what they should be, but it wasn't an option. The ham was standard , and the English muffin was typical. The breakfast potatoes were awful. They were mushy and had zero flavor. No salt, pepper, nothing. They looked seasoned with maybe rosemary or thyme, but looks are often deceiving. 3/10. read more

Made another attempt to have breakfast here again. Horrible service from the blonde waitress who spent more time socializing with her friends then waiting on her tables. I had one cup of coffee that the hostess brought me then the waitress said she will get me more coffee when she brought over my breakfast. I was almost done eating and then she remembered the coffee.
