went to the balbia/vanowen location on thanksgiving day. Standard menu was replaced by 2 item menu special for the holiday. wasn't informed of the fact. Was seated in a booth despite my request to be at the counter. Staff seemed in a rush to end the day and head home. Couldn't blame them. Waitress said she'd be able to make the kitchen prep what's on the regular menu after an irritated exchange with the hostess. Left in a huff after dumping the regular menu in front of me. Coffee looked fine, didn't try it. Didn't bother ordering and left without a fuss. They didn't need my patronage and i didn't need their service. read more

Good old fashioned diner food. Don't expect the Ritz Carlton but it's decent, and the prices are reasonable. Roommate and I have been very happy ordering from here. I really enjoy the turkey dinner and have ordered it at 6 or more times in the last six months. I've also had the turkey club, very solid. Everyone I have brought to Millie's loved it. Unfortunately, I live 30 minutes away. There is so much variety in the menu. The ingredients have been fresh every time. I love the salads and the desserts. Everyone should try it at least once. read more

I have a weird addition to club sandwich's and and Millie's is one of the places that does them well and I was happy to see that this location is no exception which is good because it appears that the one in Simi is gone. Love this place! One of my favorite places to go! Their potato dippers make a bomb appetizer. Their strawberry and rhubarb pie is to die for. You get to drink out of mason jars! The staff is always so friendly and nice. Highly recommend the black Cherry ice cream, so good! I love to come as often as I can. #1 what I like about this diner is their burgers! Better than Denny's or Norms or IHOP burgers any day. Of course, better than any fast food burger joints. Their soups are pretty good too. Particularly any type of chowder soups & especially their clam chowder I also like their steaks & their grilled tilapia fish. Overall, I couldn't complain much about this diner. Small, cozy, & more of a traditional mom & pop style diner than the other diners like Norms, Denny's or IHOP. Therefore, earned a perfect 5/5 from me. read more

Well, we were on a hunt for a great place to order our holiday pies from since 4n20 closed down (tears!)-- so we ordered delivery from Millie's and tried a few of their pies: apple, peach and banana cream. Now, the banana cream pie was actually quite good, and I'm not usually a fan...but the fruit pies...while the crust was decent, the filling was totally gelatinous and overly sweetened, so much so that you couldn't even tell the difference between the peach and the apple! Honestly, it was kinda gross. While they looked the part, we won't be ordering our holiday pies here. We also had the turkey dinner, which was fine but came with bland mashed potatoes and corn bread so dry and flavorless it was indelible- and a triple decker club. The sandwich itself was good, but the fries...now, it's hard to mess up fries...the fries were bland, flavorless, no salt, dry...maybe they were stale? Literally the worst fries I've ever had in my life. Overall, unimpressed. read more

We were driving down the blvd & saw the MILLIES sign. After doing other business we return to this MILLIES location for lunch. Service was prompt, Food was good, & price was fair. Millie Girl, you still got it after all these years! I grew up going to Millie's, my middle and high school is just across the street. Today I stopped in with my husband after having not been back for decades, I was pleasantly surprised. He ordered chicken fried steak and eggs and loved it, I had the Cobb salad and loved it. Haven't been to a Millie's in a spell. Coffee with homemade country potatoes, eggs over easy and corn beef hash...hit the spot!! My friend had the chorizo bowl and her daughter had the bacon and eggs; the food was hot and plentiful. "Anna" the owner greeted us and offered a birthday muffin to our birthday girl~. I have never eaten at Millie's before this but my aunt, who lives near Millie's, mentioned on the phone that she really wanted a banana cream pie for her birthday, which was the day we were talking on, but she didn't know where to order one from. I immediately got on Postmates and searched 'banana cream pie' and Millie's popped up. As I had never eaten there before, I was unsure of how it would turn out but they had slices of banana cream pie so I ordered two slices so she could share with my uncle and cousin. My cousin is incredibly allergic to all kinds of nuts and their menu stated the banana cream pies came with almonds (which I assumed were a garnish because I had never heard of banana cream pies having almonds in them) so I asked for there to be no nuts and explained about his allergy. I was eagerly watching the status of the delivery and thought it was taking quite a long time. Finally, someone from Postmates picked up the order and started to head towards my aunt's house. I told her to get ready for a delivery! She called me a bit after to tell me that the Postmates driver told her that the delivery took so long because the baker personally made not just two slices but two whole FRESH pies for her so my cousin would be able to have some and be safe. My aunt and I were so overjoyed at the kindness of the baker and their consideration for my cousin and his allergies. She said the pies were absolutely delicious as well! I got the Millie's brunch burger and it was not good. It was very bland, my egg yolk was all over the place the entire burger was covered in it like it had burst way before I got it. I asked for Avocado to be added, they forgot that, the lettuce was brown and wilted I had to take it out. It says there is Thousand Island on the burger but I tasted nothing, it would have been nice since the meat was very, very dry and I ordered it medium but this was not medium, it was hard to chew and swallow. The only thing saving it at this point was the ketchup for my fries and the fries were ok, it was pretty much the only thing I ate since I could only stomach half the burger. If I decide to try this place again I will not order a burger. I was told this place was great and had high expectations, but this turned out to be the worst burger I ever had. Stopped by this morning. We were seated very quickly. Service was fantastic. We ordered eggs and toast and a cheese omelet and one pancake. Their coffee is very good. Prices are fantastic. The only complaint we had was the pancake. Something seemed to be missing. It wasn't fluffy and was tough, had to cut it with a knife. We would have sent it back but we were full from the eggs. Congratulations Millie's you did it! I thought it was impossible to F up bacon and eggs but you proved me wrong. I feel bad for the employees that have to serve that crap with a smile. Question: Millie's do you care even a little bit about the quality of the product you serve? Although the preparation was horrible the quality of the ingredients is garbage to start with. Or is it that there are so many people in the area with little options you don't have to worry about quality? Just being "edible" is a very low standard in which you barely achieved. How this place has more than 2 stars is crazy! Went today for the first time and we will NOT be going back it was horrible!!! The crepes were disgusting, my sons pancakes were hard on the edge, my hubby's chicken was chewy!!!! We ordered some slices of cake and pies because we figured those would be better but NOPE!!!! lol chocolate cake tasted like plastic, chocolate green pie had a white freaking hair in it and tasted sour!!! The food server who handed me my pick-up order attended me with a friendly and polite attitude, which is always appreciated, but unfortunately the pot roast "comfort dish" was tasteless and overpriced. My initial impression of the dish was disappointment because it looked as flavorless as it tasted. I was left wondering if the pot roast was stewed in water as there was no color from seasoning visible on the meat. The only partially enjoyable part of my meal were the mashed potatoes. I ate here tonight with family and we had an excellent time. Everyone enjoyed their food but what sets Millie's apart is their staff. All of their employees are incredibly friendly and welcoming. It is great for the following reasons. I have visited many times except during these" Pandemic" crazies! Recently had to go to my doctor, on the way home needed a bathroom stop. Told my daughter to stop so I could use the facilities. As expect, clean and smelled great. That is a big deal to me. Then we just had to eat. Our little group had chicken fried steak with eggs, split pea soup, steak and coffee plus. So great just hit the spot.
