Quaint atmosphere, delightful service (thank you Ana!) and a classic diner experience that makes you feel at home! Millie's is a cute classic diner with ample parking right off the corner of Balboa and Vanowen. Its modest outside and faded sign hides a vibrant and bustling interior this Sunday morning when we came by. We were quickly seated in a booth and wow! The menu is huge. So many pages had me feeling like I had not adequately studied for an exam. My wife is in love with corn beef hash--if it is available she will be ordering it. She acquired a table pancake as part of her CBH order, and I at Ana's recommendation got the chilaquiles, which were very good! They had the right mix of tortillas, beans, egg, and not too saucy. She brought some "spicy" salsa with a bit of a kick--not enough for me but enough for my wife--next time I want some REAL spice, Ana!! :) As I am rather large and was rather hungry, I ordered an additional two scrambled eggs to add to the chilaquiles so if that's you consider adding eggs to the initial order. It was a lot of food, make no mistake. The plates on the first page are certainly ample. The atmosphere is cute. Lots of Knick knacks and pictures on the wall, kids from a baseball team running around, and plenty of people who had retired before you were born shuffling about and opening the blinds to see the menu better. We were very well taken care of. I would say the food is 3.5-4 stars, definitely solid. But the service really puts it up to 5 stars, Ana took the time to meet us and I know she expects us back soon!

My husband never Yelp's but he insisted I do a review for him. I've always given this place great reviews but now they stepped it up even more with the world's best pork chop! Highly recommend! It's seriously the best in town! Sorry I didn't grab a photo before he devoured most of it.

Millies has been a long time favorite for my entire family. The staff and owners are incredibly friendly. The food is amazing, especially the biscuits and gravy. Came in two times this week! My dad is retired and every time he comes into town, it is his first stop!

The brunch burger was delicious and seasoned well. The fried egg was cooked perfectly - nice and yolky and the onion ring had a perfect crispy crunch. Fries were plentiful but I would have preferred them to be crunchier. I was only able to eat half of my meal and it was just as yummy later that day. Cozy restaurant with lots of booths. I love that they serve their drinks in large mason jars- I didn't need a refill and the waitress gave me a to-go cup which was really nice.

Best breakfast in the Valley. The service impeccable. Not to mention this is a family own business, own by women. Support local owned businesses. I also want to Include Ana one of the owners who treat you as a family member as soon as you walk in the door. Highly recommend this restaurant if you're an Angelino or a tourist.

It's been years since I was last here for a meal. The beginning of the week and pretty lazy trying to find somewhere to eat. Randomly came across something about Milles and the choice was made. It's still pretty much the same as I remembered it. Your classic homely dinner vibe. As it was still pretty early, it wasn't that busy. Menu did seem to have quite more choices this time. Food wise, it's your typical diner meal. The fried chicken meal was ok, served with two choices side and a side of cornbread. Also, they did have a few soup choices on hand which is good. Overall, it was good. Same feel as the last time I was there.

My dear friend mentioned they had a delicious pumpkin with pumpkin whip cream pancake so we had to go check it out. It's only a holidays special. Finger licking, good. Good parking, friendly staff, strong good coffee . I'm a sucker for coffee... we will be back before end of January as only on menu temporarily.

Delicious restaurant and diner with a wide range of options! Great seating options both inside and outside. The staff are very friendly and service is pretty quick.

The entire visit was a pleasant experience. We were greeted, sat, helped in a timely manner. The service was great. The thing i can't get over is that my meal was hot (temperature), I mean hot, the whole time i was eating it! They must heat the plates. I LOVE it! I was there for breakfast (veggie benedict). The coffee cups are NOT those dinky cups, the coffee (decaf) was good and hot also. I really enjoyed myself. Thank you Millies!

The drinks looked good but I decided to save some calories and just had a glass of water. For food I started with clam chowder. I'm thinking it was a special since it was on a piece of paper on the table. It came in a bread bowl...it had lots or clams, bacon and potatoes. It was delicious. It could have been a meal with a small salad. So for my entree I had the lobster Mac and cheese. It was good as a well. Ooey gooey and seasoned nicely. I was almost full from the chowder so only at about 1/3 of it but would definitely recommend. It was my first time coming here and I'd definitely return.

Service - 5/10 I'm not sure if they were just so understaffed or what was going on. Food took forever to come out & it seemed as if there was only 1 waiter for the entire restaurant. She also had an ugly attitude. Price - 2/10 Honestly for pub food, it's way too overpriced. You're paying West Hollywood prices in the valley, probably more. I hate that each sandwich/burger is $15+ à la carte. Ridiculous! Cocktails - 2/10 Ordered an old fashioned multiple times & each time it was too heavy on the bitters. Gross! Ambiance - 6/10 It's a cool dive bar feel but the TV sound could've been on for the ball game. OVERALL - 6/10 It's way too overpriced to even want to come back. The food is mid, and just not worth the price. The beer options also are not it. Cocktails aren't great either. Probably wouldn't come back.

Normally happy hour is on their patio, but they seated us in their regular dining area, not sure why. They have both indoor and outdoor dining. It was a nice day out, so we requested outdoor. Unfortunately that meant I was bitten by mosquitos a couple times. All cocktails on the happy hour menu are between $10-11. I got the Boston Sour and my friend got the Social Mule. We both liked our drinks. For food, we shared the following from the happy hour menu: Green goddess hummus ($8 hh) - pretty good, but I wish there was more pita to go with the hummus! Crispy chicken sliders ($11 hh) - ginormous chicken sliders! Would highly recommend! Meatball sliders ($11) - good but on the smaller side, especially when placed side by side with the chicken sliders lol Blackened salmon tacos ($11 hh) - also good, though I found the salmon a bit bland Presentation for the drinks and all the dishes was beautifully done. Everything is plated nicely even for happy hour dishes.

The famed lobster appetizer was not for us. Bits of lobster floating in a lot of butter didn't excite us. Excellent salads. The other appetizers however, were excellent. We've been twice now had had a lot of their menu. The pork was outstanding. The rack was very good, but I've had even better racks elsewhere. The "famous" banana cream pie was good, not great, but so huge and rich it must be shared. At $30, it's maybe also a tad overpriced. The bar makes a healthy-sized martini that's worth its high-end price tag. Great wine list with wonderful advice and good-sized sample pours, even though I only drink one glass and my husband doesn't drink at all. This is a good place to splurge on a good wine. I've mentioned the above-par service. Informative and cheery, without trying to become your best friend. They went out of their way to assure us a table in a very quiet spot, due to my deafness. Very attentive without being overbearing. Their suggestions seem honest, rather than just trying to upsell everything. The place is huge and gorgeous. Flatteringly, if dimly, lit, it lends itself to romantic dinners and anniversaries. In our case, we like to have a rather luxurious and romantic and lengthy meal perhaps once a month, and feel very fortunate to be able to do so. It's divided into several smallish areas and the effect is rather cozy and intimate. It's chic and stylish, so PLEASE folks, dress for it? It especially saddens me to see a nicely dressed young woman, who obviously spent some time on herself beforehand, with a guy ( I'll guess her husband ), in shorts and a tee shirt. I say, for a place like this, where you could easily spend four bills on a good meal for two, with drinks, management, bring back a dress policy! And enforce it with a reminder email they you do so. Is a collared shirt and a pressed pair of khakis too much to ask for?

There's music that's lively without being overbearing, and the staff is uniformly friendly. But... You have to order at the bar and, though they have runners to bring your food, you do have to hunt them down for anything after the delivery (extra ketchup, etc). While this isn't my favorite system at my age, to be fair, whatever the owners are saving on staff is reflected in the prices, which are absolutely below most places in the area for food that is good-quality and drinks that are generously poured. So yes, my wife's Espresso Martini was served in a deep-bellied Belgium beer glass, and my whiskey neat was a hefty pour. Yay!! For food, I ordered the Smash Burger, which is served with melted American, grilled onions and the house version of Russian dressing (as well as pickles, which I deleted). The burgers had a nice, smashed crust while remaining juicy, the cheese was properly melted, and the grilled onions had a terrific caramelized sweetness, while the house sauce was very well-balanced: ketchupy and creamy without being too mayonnaise-heavy. A very good smasher. My wife ordered the Big Texan Burger because she wanted cheddar and frizzled onions and BBQ sauce, though she deleted the bacon and pork belly that are normally included. This, too, was a very good burger: cooked to a proper and pleasing medium-rare and well-seasoned, with a good, fresh flavor to the beef. The onion rings were less successful, which are of the beer batter type, but seemed to be a commercial, frozen product. The coating was browned but not crisp, and the flavor was relatively nondescript. We didn't really eat them, and wouldn't order them again. And so, to me, The Tipsy Cow is a bit of a mixed bag: reasonably priced decent food and reasonably priced, generously-poured drinks -- but in a mostly self-serve environment that incrementally loses its appeal in relation to your age and your dining circumstances. Certainly worth a try, but you've gotta be in the right mood.
