I would give a better rating if the prices were reasonable, but this place keeps jacking up the prices and food is marginal. Only a couple of things I'll order here, Ruben, french dip or salad. **Review for bar only** In the two years that I have been living in Patterson I have been avoiding the small town culture to try and preserve my "bay area-ess" as much as possible. Now that I am out of work and in Patterson all day, everyday, I decided to check out a local hangout, Mils. I have to tell you that I didn't know what to expect. I'm clearly an outsider into their world, but I have to say that this place is great. I was greeted by a cheery young bartender at happy hour. She was not only attentive to my drink orders, but chatted me up as she was closing down her shift. As the evening rolled in, so did most of the Patterson locals. Met a sweet couple in their 50's who mistook me for some girl at church, even got the hello kiss on the cheek and everything. Mil's is just a really solid diner! If there were a half a a star, they would probably get three and a half from me. The only reason that they wouldn't get the four stars from me (if I had the choice) is that I find their pricing a teensy bit spendy in relation to the ambiance. If I were ever able to go there for drinks or dinner, I would probably feel more generous. Unfortunately, I'm always on the clock dining with coworkers. So, I've pretty much only ever had their breakfast. The dining room is sort of dark and oppressive with fake wood paneling and mismatched chairs. The coffee is ho-hum. The cost usually comes in around ten or more dollars per person, if you get coffee or juice. Okay, with those qualifiers aside, I can get to the good stuff. Their service is great! The waitress always on weekday breakfasts is friendly, efficient and easy-going. She is the quintessential diner waitress, speaking in diminutives and constantly refilling coffees. They almost always have fresh spinach on hand, enabling my coworkers to order Joe's Special and me to order sauteéd spinach on the side of my poached eggs and toast. (A weird breakfast, I know, but my favorite anyways.) Recently, I had an unusually strong protein craving and I ordered their tuna melt. It was really good. The tuna had barely, if any at all, mayonnaise in it. So it really tasted like tuna. The salad it came with was huge! As far as I know, Mil's is the only really good sit-down breakfast option in the town of Patterson. So I definitely recommend it. If they were maybe one dollar cheaper, they would be an absolutely perfect diner. read more

Needed a lunch stop when passing thru Patterson, CA, so decided to go here. Food was good, prices a bit steep but not bad. My patty melt & beer-battered onion rings were excellent. A few negatives -- the smell of grease when we walked in was very off-putting & made us wonder what we were getting into. Our server didn't offer straws with iced tea until we were nearly finished. And most important -- NONE of the staff were wearing masks in the middle of a Pandemic. This one cost them two stars in my rating. However today, another server (patty I believe her name was) she was an elderly lady was so rude and disrespectful to her cooking staff. I was sitting in the smaller seating area so i was right by the cook/serve window and it was very uncomfortable, I had to finish my food fast so i could leave. The only thing to come out fast here was the check. Seriously though, waited an hour for our breakfast only to receive burnt, cold pancakes, which I sent back to have remade, hash browns that tasted like old grease and my scrambled eggs were literally sliced up fried egg. Toast was cold and dry. My son's omelette and pancakes were good. Only stars given are for the young girls who were waiting tables. They were very nice and apologetic for the delayed service. The few times I've been here I've never been disappointed. Usually would go for breakfast and the food is really good-portions are large too so come by with an empty stomach. I don't come by very often, but when I do, I always enjoy what I order. Staff is very friendly too and always make you feel welcome. Depending what days/times it can get very crowded. I've had breakfast here before on a weekday and it wasn't crowded at all but coming on a weekend, the place was packed. Luckily there was a table available to accommodate me and my friends. Well, as always, me and my friends were looking for a new place to eat and came across this place. The people greeted us like family which was nice. Everyone who worked there was so nice and sweet. That's probably the only reason it gets 3 stars. I didn't order any food however my friends did. They said it was nothing special and from what I saw, it was pretty expensive for an average meal. Nothing special food wise. If you are looking for a nice, relaxing diner to eat some quick food for a little extra money, then come here. We bought an Apple pie on Saturday June 2nd. That evening as we were serving it to my 2 1/2 year old great niece several of us noticed a large amount of green mold on the pie. My sister in law who had purchased the pie earlier in the day returned the pie and had her money returned. As my sister in law was leaving the restaurant she noticed the waitress and the manager "high fiving" each other which she found VERY unsettling. My sister in law was told the the pies are delivered weekly. We find it hard to believe a pie with that much mold could have only been a week old. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Patterson. Its like eating homemade breakfast lunch and dinner and you can pick from three different environments to eat in the diner, the bar (actually never sat there so not sure if it's just drinks at bar because I don't drink), and then the cozy dining room that looks like it's from 1987. I really wish there was an option to rate 3 1/2 stars but I guess this place deserves a 4 over a 3, but not by much. Anyway, this place has three distinct sections; diner, banquet, bar. We opted to sit in the banquet area over the diner area because the lighting in the diner was rather obtrusive. I had a French Dip sandwich and enjoyed it a lot; they use real A'jus instead of the fake stuff. After dinner we went to the bar and had a couple drinks. My whiskey sour was good but the wife's Mai Tai had too much rum in it (and was probably very cheap rum). Unfortunately the place just looks kinda old and run-down. They have a large HD TV in the bar but then this super-tiny, 15-year old tv next to it; what's the point? Had been here a few times as a kid 25 years ago and just stopped in the other day because we were passing through. I couldn't believe it was still there. Definitely the "locals hang out" on a Friday evening. My husband had a meatloaf sandwich with mashed potatoes, gravy and clam chowder. And I had an amazing slice of berry pie with coffee. We stopped here on our way to LA and it was exactly what I wanted. Such a perfect experience from the second I walk in until I left. The waitress was adorable and friendly. The kind of person who makes you immediately feel like you've known her your whole life. I got a Tito's vodka martini, a mushroom burger that the waitress recommended which was perfect, and clam chowder. I've lived in Maine but this was honestly some of the very best clam chowder I've ever had. My wife agreed. The side salad with blue cheese was also great. If there was a way to give this place negative stars I would. The servers were attentive I will give them that but that was literally it. After ordering we were told it would be a 30 minute wait. Which was ok although we have a baby and a toddler who are also hungry and rambunctious. 1 hour later we receive our food. For starters my omelette has no cheese, my wife's tuna melt literally was tuna out of a can and plopped in bread. No sides, mayo, mustard anything. I addressed the waitress on no cheese so she brings me cold cheese to put in a now cold omelette. Then they blame it on a party of 30 and then state, "they just got lazy!" So they would comp our water lololol. I will never be back to this restaurant and will make sure to spread the word of the absolutely horrid experience. I seriously hope they downsize their seating to kitchen ratio as well as that is a major reason they failed so miserably. It took 15 minutes for them to take our order. Another 40 mins to get our food. The sprite that I had requested tasted nasty had to switch to some orange juice. Once our food finally arrived the meal was barely warm. As if it was sitting on the counter for some time. No flavor at all. Had to pour salt and pepper on it to make it taste decent.
