We couldn't have been more dissatisfied! Looking for a new restaurant in Milwaukee tonight we thought the Milwaukee Chop House would be a good choice. Given the prices, we expected a fine meal. The service was very very slow. During the entire meal, we were only offered a chance for drinks once, at the very beginning. We were dry from the appetizers on. Time to get our meals.. 35 minutes. The meals.. awful. The Veal chops had so many spices on them the women had to scrape it off into piles on the sides of their plates and still the chops were so flavored that the veal was virtually inedible. The mashed potatoes had so much salt on them that not one of us could eat them. We simply pushed the entire bowl to the side. My Prime Rib was dry as a bone and tough. Even if it wasn't dry, their was so much salt in it that after 4 bites of a 22 ounce prime rib, I pushed the entire plate to the side. Management response? Poor. Despite telling them we were very unhappy and were not interested in replacements, they brought a new prime rib and bowl of mashed potatoes. No offer to comp us for the food we didn't touch. No acknowledgement for the two high dollar veal chops either. Biggest waste of $150 for a three person meal ever. BUYER BEWARE !!! Milwaukee has so much better to offer. Capital Grille, Mason Grill, Wards, and a dozen others are the same price with far superior meals. You'll notice that this if my first review. Our experience was so poor that I actually joined Yelp and posted this review tonight after returning from the meal just to vent and hopefully prevent others from a similar experience. read more

My wife and I were in town for the weekend from Chicago to catch a local show, for our anniversary. We were staying at the hotel the Chophouse was located in, and intended to go to a different restaurant for the night, but cancelled our reservations for the other and made reservations at Chophouse for the same night. I definitely do NOT regret making that decision. We began our night at the small bar, an hour before dinner, and ordered drinks and apps. The appetizers were great and reasonably priced, as were the cocktails. The bartenders made great cocktails and were very friendly. When we were seated for dinner, our waiter (Mitch) was extremely personable and polite. After exchanging introductions, he came back with complementary glasses of champagne! Apparently, our brief conversation with the bartender earlier made its round to our server. A very unexpected, but very appreciative gesture. I ordered their Porterhouse (medium), my wife ordered a chicken dish. I thoroughly enjoyed mine, and she said her chicken was delicious. I did not try a bite because I had 22 ounces of steak to tackle, myself. Dessert is also highly recommended. Creme Brûlée and Cheesecake was a perfect ending. The experience was phenomenal, I can't say one negative thing about our experience. The staff is very courteous, our server was attentive, but not overbearing, and the environment was perfect to celebrate our anniversary. Now, , I just don't pass out five ratings, but I will say this place is on the edge of a five rating. The food was very good and I might have done a five but for the fact my scallops were a touch over. The wife's bison steak was absolutely fantastic. Heard no complaints from our party of 6. The chocolate cake for dessert was over the top good. One piece of that will be enough for two or three. Great food and excellent excellent service from LeLonnie. Terrible experience and we never got a table. We were in town for the weekend and decided to check out chophouse. The pictures of the food looked great so why not try it. We get there around 715pm and we're told by the host that they have a reservation of 15 people but that she would be able to seat us 15-20mins. She invites us to stand by the bar or check out the upstairs restaurant that has a full dinner menu. We tell her we would like to dine here. We decided to wait by the outside lobby since she took our name and phone number to call us when the table was ready. We wait around and now it's 745pm. We go back to her and ask about the status of a table for us. She says she would have to check with the server and the kitchen but it'll maybe be another 10-15mins. We tell her that's fine. She said she would call us as soon as she had a table open. I know she doesn't have control of when people leave or how long they stay but having to check with the kitchen seemed kind of odd. It's 810pm at this point and we're so hungry we decided to walk out after waiting almost an hour when we were told 10-15mins. The worst part is, she never called to say she had a table ready for us. this place is seriously ridiculous. all hype and no food. i was busy talking to the folks in my party so i did not study the menu. i ordered the ahi, my favorite thing to order anywhere. $32. what i got was a thin strip of sliced ahi with absolutely nothing else -- not a grain of rice, not a sprig of asparagus. the ahi itself was unremarkable. bland with only enough drizzle for the first 2-3 pieces. $32. give me a break. to make matters worse, using a shiny tong, they rationed out one small roll for each diner. they could not bring a basket of rolls to the table because i guess that is how peasants do it. when someone asked for an extra roll, they acted like the person asked for an extra plate of free caviar. they didn't even refill my pepsi. how could they, with pepsi prices being what they are. [eye roll]. i live in a large international city so i am no stranger to fine dining. the keyword is "dining". there was plenty of posturing, and hardly any dining. read more

A mixed review....the good...the food was phenomenal. The filet with peppercorn seasoning was tremendous. The creamed corn side was amazing. The bad...the service. I planned on eating at the bar, but it was full. So I was placed at a small table in a half full, if that, dining room. Once I got my menu, I looked it over and started on my iPad. I looked up wondering where my server was and she was standing there, never said a word, staring at me. I ordered a glass of wine. She poured me way more than the 5 oz (I was ok with that) then went away. For a long time. She came back and said she'd bring some bread, which she did. I had only one bite when my meal came. Afterwards she asked if I wanted more than the one small dinner roll she gave me and I said yes, one more please. She cleared the bread plate, bread tray, and butters/spices. I asked for another glass of wine, got another huge fill up (again, fine with it), then was asked twice for dessert, both times declining. Then she went away again for a long time. Handy if your staying at hotel ,Wings are $10 bucks for 6 , I did not have any must be from a golden chicken rather than a golden goose . I had a Ceaser salad, first ceaser salad in my life that use iceberg lettuce in it , that should tell you how good it was. Not a lot on the menu that look good so I had a burger. there is a high end steak house in the hotel though if you eat steak did not check that out. read more

This was my second visit. The first was with a client, where we had a terrific time and great food served to us while sitting at the bar. The bartenders are exceptionally accommodating so we felt no need to take our table. This second time, my wife and I started a bottle of wine at the bar. The bartender, David, was very knowledgeable and helpful with our wine selection and put us in a good mood for the rest of the evening. I learned that we should have stayed at the bar and received the royal treatment like I had remembered from my first visit. Our table service was barely adequate. We had to ask twice if there were any rolls or bread before the meal? We each ordered filets that were exceptional. The filets come with sautéed mushrooms. My sweet wife politely asked if onions could be substituted for the mushrooms. Her steak came with a small glop of onions that had been grilled into submission and my steak came without a side, even though I had remarked to the waiter that I was looking forward to the mushrooms. The baked sweet potato we had as a side was O.K., not nearly as exceptional as the filets. In hindsight, I wonder if the waiter was miffed that we chose not to begin the meal with any of the ala cartes -- salad, soup or fried thingies -- that would have padded our final bill and, thusly, would have increased his tip. To be honest, knowing how delicious the steaks are, we didn't want to fill up on hors d'oeuvres. After finally flagging down the waiter to pay, we escaped back to the bar for coffee and dessert wines. My advice when visiting the Milwaukee Chophouse: dine at the bar -- it's a comfortable space and the bartenders will make you feel appreciated and welcome. read more

A friend and I had dinner there over the Labor Day weekend and we were both very impressed. I had a New York strip au poivre which was outstanding. My friend had the filet with Bearnaise sauce and he loved it. We had the trio of sides which was fine. For dessert, I had Macadamia carrot cake and he had the chocolate cake which came with a large amount of dark shaved chocolate. Both of which were terrific. Coffee was served in a French press, a nice touch. Service was great. We talked about how good everything was for quite a while. If you haven't tried it, you certainly should. read more

Don't go here. Marginal service, food was seriously overpriced for the quality - especially for Milwaukee. Details: Hostess was no where to be seen when we walked in. The bartender greeted us and told us the hostess was at the bar across the lobby. He went and got her. Clam chowder was bland, tasteless flour-water with hardly any clams. Lobster tail was over broiled and then left under a heat lamp way too long - hard and dry. Filet was ordered rare, came medium. Blue Cheese topping was actually some kind of "cheese sauce." Lobster Mac & Cheese was dry and obviously had been made days before - also tasteless. Sauteed mushrooms had a general "off" taste that everyone at the table commented on and didn't eat. Was told our wine choice wasn't in stock. (They use an iPad as the wine menu and cellar manager. How would that not be current??) -- Offered us a 2 year more recent vintage for the same price --seriously?? Waitress kept trying to clear the table before we were finished - obvious she was in a hurry to leave as she had no other tables. Exploitative corporate "hotel guest" restaurant. AVOID!! read more

Some of the best service I've ever had anywhere and I've been to many of the top steakhouses in Milwaukee, Kansas City, and San Antonio. It was my birthday and our waitress gave us birthday desserts. The review would be 5 stars but I've had better steaks elsewhere, although they were still very good. The sides and bread were excellent. read more

Don't be scared off by the fact that this restaurant is in a hotel. I was worried, but took the leap. It is a first class steak house and grille. It is a beautiful room. My wife and I shared everything, except our salads. My wife's house salad was so-so. My iceberg with blue cheese was delightful. Our fillet was prepared exactly medium rare and was delicious. The broiled scallops appetizer was perfect. Very good spinach side dish (the sides are large and meant to be shared) The service was so good I left a 25% tip! Food was decent. Price high for quality. Service exceedingly POOR!! I would have left if I had not had an elderly person in the party. Tried this place twice as we stayed in the hotel. Two different very rude servers! Slow service! Poor attitude! We were quite taken aback, especially the second time. There will not be a third! We recommend going across the hall to the pub for a much friendlier atmosphere or take a cab or short walk down the street to a number of other good steak options. read more

Service is extremely important in a restaurant. I may initially come to a restaurant for the food, but it's the service that will bring me back. The Milwaukee ChopHouse is a restaurant with awful service and an even worse manager. We waited over an hour after our scheduled time and they acted like nothing was wrong. Now I did not mind waiting but they even had the audacity to skip our reservation for a party that raised a bit of hell. Not only did they skip over my reservation they acted as if nothing was wrong. No apologies or anything, just business as usual. I will never come back to this establishment. The number one reason someone comes back to a restaurant is recognition and the Milwaukee ChopHouse failed on every level. read more

We went here while we were in town for a volleyball tournament. It was a Saturday night and we used the online reservation tool as we were worried it would be really busy. We got done earlier than planned and we were able to move up the time on our reservation. It's was not really full when we arrived and we were seated promptly. We did have to wait a little bit for someone to come to our table. We were the only ones there with children. We ordered small plates of scallops and crab cakes. We ordered a filet and lobster mac n cheese. They do bring out bread and different options for topping the bread which was good. We had to flag down someone to refill our water glasses. When the food arrived the presentation was not what I was expecting. The steak was on a very large white plate with just a few sprigs of a small green. For the atmosphere of the restaurant and pricing I had an expectation for a great presentation. The items were good, not what I would consider great. read more

I went to a private dinner presentation here in late Oct '16. Having had steak several times in the preceding days, I tried the oven-roasted chicken. It was served w/ a vegetable hash containing diced carrots & diced broccoli under the chicken. Additionally, mashed potatoes & steamed green beans were delivered as family-sized servings. The amt of chicken meat on the bone I would equilibrate to a 3-5 piece order of McNuggets from McDonalds. Extremely disappointing serving size. The pairing of a vegetable medley w/ more green beans seemed not well thought out. The mashed potatoes were quite simply that. Mashed potatoes. There was no flavor. I think they failed to put in any sour cream, garlic, etc. I believe it did have some butter. Anyways, it seemed to even lack any salt or pepper. And on that note, there was no salt or pepper on the table or offered by the waiter. He was quite inconvenienced when I inquired. The flour-less chocolate cake was tasted by most and left on the plate by all as it was so dry. Kind of like eating oatmeal without a splash of milk. There was a small amt of caramel drizzle and a single, miniscule raspberry. Finally, the waiter claimed that they did not have a house Cabernet to serve. What steakhouse doesn't have a house cab? Take my advice. Skip the MCH and head out to the Brookfield suburbs for a real steakhouse experience when in the MKE. read more
