We headed over and the kids and us had 4 baskets. I was happy their food quality hasn't changed from what I remembered. We got the cinnamon roll French toast, French dip and grilled chicken pesto on a ciabatta bread. Food was good and my 6 year old ened up eating half my sandwich and 1 cinnamon roll toast! Next time I'm ordering the kids the French dip to share. Potatoes au gratin was creamy and potatoes were cooked right and the quinoa ferro and brown rice medley was good as well, but has no seasoning (probably for people trying to make healthier choices). Cinnamon roll toast was sweet as expected with a lot of Cinnamon gooey sauce swirled into bread. Good portions, happy with service, nice calm atmosphere. I wish mimis had more locations. read more

Mimi's is classic. I'm from Downeyc this spot was a staple for my entire generation. Post-school, weekends, family breakfasts... Mimi's was always in the rotation. So coming out to Orange County, I expected a more refined version of that same experience, especially compared to the chaos of the always-packed Downey location sitting right next to a high school. Unfortunately, this location misses the mark, and not in small ways. After four separate attempts to give it a fair shot, the pattern is clear. Undercooked fingerling potatoes, smoked salmon that tasted like it had been sitting open in a fridge for days, and wait times that make no sense for a brick-and-mortar breakfast spot. Once is a mistake. Four times is a standard. There's a principle in business, your reputation is everything, and consistency is what protects it. Right now, this location isn't protecting anything. It's coasting on the name while letting execution slip, and customers notice. I wanted this to be my go-to again. But at a certain point, you stop giving chances and start making decisions. read more

Enjoyed a delicious brunch with my mom on Mother's Day. The place was chaotic to say the least, even with a reservation, but attitude is everything. You could definitely see that they were short staffed, but EVERYONE working today had a pleasant attitude and kept apologizing for the delays. The food was great! We had brunch here this past Saturday and I will no longer be returning to a Mimi's Cafe. My table ordered 5 honey bran muffins (our absolute favorite)! I noticed while eating mine that it began to taste funny, but thought maybe the recipe changed. It wasn't until I started to smell a rancid smell that I began taking another bite and realized that the muffin had gone completely bad in the middle. It was horrible. I had to spit it out. I asked my table if they had any issue with their muffins and they were all like "actually yes, it tastes different". We told our server who took the muffins and came back to say that he gave us the batch from yesterday which is the reason for the horrible taste. I've worked in food and beverage for 10 years and that was definitely not from being left in the fridge for a day. Something is very wrong in their food/dating practices. Because of that, it definitely ruined the mood for the entire brunch and I was very skeptical to eat my chicken salad sandwich. I was very disappointed to see that they didn't remove the muffins from our tab. They did replace our muffins with fresh ones. Went yesterday for lunch. Service in the bar was lacking, very poor. People were walking to the waiter with their empty glasses for refills. Too busy talking with each other to wait on customers. I ordered a Margarita, really poor quality, barely able to drink it. Order the lunch special, the quiche with a salad, the quiche was undercooked in the middle, dough was raw as well as the eggs, salad was a bit old. Mimi Cafe & Bakery Restaurant had significantly declined over time, and this recent visit (midweek for dinner) highlighted that. The place is pretty empty, except for maybe at best, 9 two-seater tables occupied by patrons. It's certainly the weekend crowd that is keeping this place afloat. The service was okay nothing spectacular and the bread basket now charges $2.99 to add a couple madeleines when it used to be free. We ordered our usual dinner combo - tuna melt and my French toast plate. It's tasty but for the price for sandwiches and fries, just gives me heartburn that I didn't want to take any pictures. I even mentioned I'm here with an uncle to celebrate birthday . . . barely got an acknowledgement other than a subtle "hey happy birthday". Regardless, it my habit to alway get a 4-pack muffins. We were delighted to find a Mimi's Cafe in Yorba Linda. We had breakfast and were greeted by Freedie. He was warm and friendly. He took our order, and the food met our expectations. The pancakes with strawberries and blueberries were delicious, and the ham and sausage omelet was amazing. Freedie was always willing to check on us and see if we needed anything. His great. Even though he is also serving other customers, he provides excellent customer service. The ambiance is excellent. The place is clean and quiet. My mom and I had the best Sunday lunch here! Freddy was very kind to us and even gave me extra gravy for my French pot roast, which was delicious! I highly recommend this dish. Please come to this location for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if you're in Yorba Linda. This Mimi's Cafe has been here for YEARS and we've never had a bad experience here. When my husband asked where we wanted to go eat for dinner tonight I thought Mimi's sounded great since I was in the mood for that type of food. Unbeknownst to me what an absolute catastrophe that decision would end up being. When my family walked into this barren wasteland, there was no one to be seen except one person at the far end of this deserted establishment who was already eating. Five minutes later after awkwardly standing at the hostess stand looking around for any signs of life, out walks a waitress headed to that one table, that almost walked by us until she made eye contact and realized we were about to make the mistake of dining there. She sat us down on the other end of the restaurant where we were about to wait 30 MINUTES to not even receive a round of waters or get a drink order in. NOTHING. We were handed menus and left completely neglected while staff was prancing around the bar area and the kitchen doing God knows what. There wasn't anyone else eating so I don't know how busy they possibly could have been just to completely ignore us. In the meantime I'm trying to assure my family that I'm sure they won't forget about us for much longer, as my 7 year old is hungry and desperate to eat, and I feed my baby her dinner in her high chair. I see an employee standing idle at the host stand staring over at us periodically. I counted to about the 5th time we made eye contact and still not a round of waters, checking in on us, taking an order... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. It was then I decided I wasn't going to waste any more time on this sad excuse for a restaurant and we got up to leave. I can see why this Mimi's is a depressing desolate corpse of what it used to be. There would be better service at a hospital cafeteria. We left and went across the street to Chilis, where they seated us quickly, had great service and the food was great! A way better experience. It ended up being a blessing in disguise we didn't need to waste a single dollar at Mimi's. I would advise anyone not to waste their time at Mimi's. (At least this specific location, I love other locations) This restaurant is a pathetic uninhabited ghost town for a reason. read more

I have not been to a Mimi's Cafe in a long time. It seems that they changed their menu. The Roasted Corn Fritters were really, really good. They're filled with corn, cheese and fried along with a chipotle dipping sauce. All of the meals that we ordered were good. There are some items that I definitely want to try next time. The patio seating is lovely too. Not great when it's hot, but when it's nice out, it's a great spot. read more

Mimi's food is decent never really had a problem with the food. I ordered a glass of Moscato, which is really a small for on the receipt. It says seven daughters. It was $13.69. That is so ridiculous. You could buy a whole bottle of that brand that's very overpriced for a small glass of Moscato. I won't ever order wine here again. read more

I went on may 9,2026 @ approximately 7:30 pm, for dinner, I saw a lady complaining to the waiter that the food was awful. So I order drinks hot espresso, peanut butter coffee, it tastes awful. The dinner I order was chicken and mash potatoes. the chicken was dried up, potatoes were salty. My 3 other quests were very disappointed! Their food was hard they order ribeye steak! Awful. All the food was cold. Who ever is running this place, better check your cooks. Awful! Now I understand why this lady was upset. We as customers pay a lot of money to go eat . Waiter didn't give us water. We requested water with ice, never got it. We sat in the back room. I will never recommend this place ever again. Terrible. We complain to the waiter, this guy looks so exhausted. Short stocky older man . Worked the back area. I live in Yorba Linda, ca . I invited my family from out of town, recommended them to Mimi's ! Bad mistake!! this waiter didn't even give a a discount. Will not recommend to friends and family. This was my pre mother day. People listen to your costumers. You will lose your costumers. So upset! What could improve? Everything, ftom the food to the workers who take your orders for take out to the people in the back getting your food ready to go. We ordered at the counter a several months ago and the guy ran my credit card twice. I got a refund in about a week. My husband went in a couple of months ago and they ran his card through 4 times. He got a refund for the overage in about 10 days. Today we ordered quiche Lorraine and it has ALWAYS been with bacon (traditional QL). Today we took it home after my husband waited for over 40 minutes for them to finally say, what are you here for and did you order on line, over the phone? No, my husband said, I gave YOU the order 40 minutes ago! Needless to say it was cold so I warmed it at home in the microwave. After taking one bite, we realized it was not bacon, but ham! I am Not a fan of ham so for me it was very disappointing. For the past 30 some years it has always been bacon. I have always liked Mimi's when we lived in Ventura County, but this Mimi's has managed to only disappoint so unfortunately we will not be returning. read more

I made reservations for six, I didn't really need to because it wasn't very crowded. Our server was Feliciano he was pretty good. I wanted an old-fashioned and he showed me the different bourbons they had and I picked the one I wanted. Three people had wine, one had a blue moon and my sister-in-law had a daiquiri. All of us were happy. My two brother-in-law's had fishing chips, myself, and another sister-in-law had salmon. I chose as my two sides, broccoli and potatoes au gratin. She had a baked potato and green beans. My other sister-in-law had the pot pie and my husband had a chicken dinner and it came with rice pilaf. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I had tiramisu way too big, so I brought most of it home, and one of my sister-in-law's had crème brûlée. I'm sorry this place isn't busier because the food is good and reasonable.
