Mimi's Place has the most delicious Latin cuisine I've ever had! When a coworker suggested that we try something new for a pau hana dinner, I was a little hesitant about trying food I wasn't familiar with. But when she said shrimp, clams and calamari over french fries, I was intrigued! I'm so glad we tried this place because just thinking about it makes me drool. The owner orders specialty Peruvian spices that can't be found on island and creates the most amazing flavors. I couldn't get enough of my lomo saltado with seafood. The dish packed huge flavor and large portions to fill you up. We shared the ceviche, which was amazing and so fresh! My coworker had the special of the week, which was a mahi mahi in a creamy sauce that was so delicious! ***update*** Unprofessional business. They justified their restaurant being dirty and attempted to say I'm not familiar with their culture without know my background. pobrecitos First off u was served a dirty water cup. I'm talking about crumbs in water AND on the cup. I wanted to order the plate with steak and fries, but I wanted Yucca fries instead. THEY DONT LET YOU SUBSTITUTE. I had to spend $9 extra for a side of yucca fries and I got a total of 6 fries. I also was given a tiny tiny bowl of salsa with nothing to eat it withhen I ordered a pasta with pan fried breaded steak. My pasta was over cooked to the point I saw it when they brought my food. The steak was chewy and was burned. The only flavor was the crunchy edges. It smelled bad, too. They never once refilled my boyfriend's water and my bill came out to $60 for two entrees and one side. I spent $50 at Limón Peruvian Restaurant and got three times as much food AND three glasses of house sangria. Their service was horrible and the place was dirty. They are IRRESPONSIBLE!!! They accepted my order for delivery of 3 dinners and gave a 45-55 minute delivery window. I called several times with no answer. After the restaurant was closed and our food was over an hour late I called the credit card company to cancel the charge to find that the restaurant had returned my payment. They canceled my food order and never emailed, texted or called. It is now 8:45 and we have no dinner. They are a TERRIBLE place. read more

I know that many spicies are hard to get to the island, I understand, specially the rice which they served in a very small scoop, I've ordered a Lomo Saltado, they presented on a wood board (like cutting board) it was nice but I guess the juice wasn't there since the wood absorbs it and it was kind of dry even for the fries or rice to absorb some of it. Then, I've tried the ceviche, it was ok but very little, for the price but it's to expected since prices in Hawaii are always expensive. read more

I was so hopeful for this place as I saw the good reviews on yelp and I love Peruvian food , I am Hispanic so I know what good Peruvian taste like , but this place is one of the worst one I have been !!. . My husband ceviche was extra salty , no corn or cancha or sweet potato , and some shrimp were still raw. I ordered the jalea mixta , when I ate the first bite automatically tasted they cooked it in reused oil , hard to chew and taste like old seafood . We pay $50 for two mediocre plates and one soda . I've had Peruvian food once at another restaurant here in Oahu, and this is by far the best Peruvian food hands down to me! It's a family runned business and you sure feel like family eating there! The staff is always smiling and you feel the authentic Peruvian vibes being there! It's located conveniently on Ke'eaumoku St right across of Walmart. Everything tastes so homecooked! I ordered the seafood combo and it was yummy. I eat a lot of Peurro Rican food and it tasted similar to gandule rice. Then I had the Lomo with Beef with Rice & beans deep fried. The beef was so flavorful and tender I kept thinking it was grass fed! The civiche hands down is the best, it's a must try!! One of their best dishes. And they play Peruvian music to feel just right. We've frequented this place several times - over the course of its location changes through the years. They started out as a lunch truck, and then opened their doors at a couple more spots before being where they are now, in the Samsung Plaza. Parking is validated, though can be crowded. Since moving to Keeamoku, prices have lowered and the menu slightly changed. It's not as big or dressed up as it's old location, but a bit more like a nice hole in the wall with some charm. We ordered the Lomo Saltado (beef, with rice and potatoes) and the Ceviche Piqueo (ceviche sampler). As usual, the food was great, service friendly and attentive. I've sailed all over the pacific and Carribean oceans , and have had lomo saltado de pollo at many different spots. The one I had here was the absolute best I've had in years. The chicken is moist, flavorful, and tender. The white rice has that hidden seasoning Peruvian restaurants are famous for. The fries are the perfect crisp, the onions are delicious, and that sauce that goes on top is a masterclass. I'm not sure how to compare Peruvian food to this Peruvian food place but it was pretty tasty. The spicy is extremely spicy. There is a paste that you can ask for on the side and that will get your mouth on fire. There are some salty peanuts that look like it's coated in crystalized sugar. I don't remember what it's called but it is a little addicting. They also have some authentic Peruvian drinks. Just ask to see what's available. read more

The yelp reviews were so amazing that I was so eager to try this place. However, I was sorely disappointed. I can't believe they only give ONE piece of chicken in the arroz con pollo for $16! I could have gone to KFC and bought a bucket of chicken. The ceviche mix was okay but nothing to rave about. The flavor of the food was just mediocre. I was hoping the desserts would redeem the dining experience because it looked so yummy. Sadly to say, the flan chocolate cake was dry and tasted like it was frozen for months and then thawed and left sitting out for days. The tres leche cake was only slightly better in taste. Given the opportunity, I may consider coming back and trying something else just to give them a second chance (since so many other people love this place) but I definitely wouldn't order the same dishes again. read more

First of all, don't order the tres leches cake. There aren't many places on the island that serve this dessert on their menu, so I was stoked to find this rare bird. However, I was very disappointed. The cake was quite dry and bland. Also tried the cerviche barrio; I enjoyed it even though it mainly consisted of fish. The flavors were refreshing with a jolt of spice and tang, which I liked. In terms of service, both Mimi and the server were very friendly, but it did not compensate for the fact that it took the server ten minutes to come over and take my order despite me being the ONLY customer in the restaurant. The host (or owner) was lovely. Cons: PRICEY, not good tasting, not authentic. However the food did not meet basic expectation. their huancaina sauce did not taste authentic. was simply blend and almost powdery cheesy. Pescado a lo macho had a very unpleasant strong taste From the seasoning. Perhaps too much oregano. Also noticed that their food looks nothing like their pictures on the menu. Like nothing like it. Sauces are different colors and presentation is different. i would not recommend this place if you are a fan of Peruvian food. If you are in the area and want to have something w some what Latin flavor then it may be worth a try if you don't mind lying overpriced food. read more

Hands down one of my favorite restaurants for life! I absolutely love their fried yucca ( with the queso or the green sauce), their beef lombo saltado and the calamari. My husband and i are huge fans and whenever we get a chance we are there! So happy that they have been able to stay open regardless of the craziness going around. This place was cool. Mimi's daughter was waiting tables and she's super nice and easy to talk to. She made the atmosphere very cheery and relaxing. I was ecstatic to find out they serve chicha morada! Not only that but it's the real deal. It wasn't out of a bottle or made from powder like Kool Aid. It was so refreshing and had a nice pop of cinnamon. I had been craving this drink recently and was searching for it on Amazon but had found only the fake stuff. If you haven't had it, it's made from purple corn, pineapple, quince, cinnamon and spices and it's good for you too. Unfortunately for me, my three year old discovered how delicious it is and drank most of it! For dessert, order the best alfajores ever--fresh and light and not too sweet. I normally don't even like cookies but these are delicious. My boys shared the chicken and beef ensemadas and lomo saltado for lunch and my hubs and I shared the tamal for an appetizer. I didn't try the ensemadas before the boys devoured them but I did notice the beef one was still really cold on the inside even though it was just fried on the outside. The boys didn't seem to mind, though. I had the arroz con mariscos and it was delicious, with chunks of crab, large prawns, clams and octopus. The portion was huge and I had to take half of it home. My husband had some kind of steak dish with spaghetti and pesto and it must have been good because he ate it all up. We will definitely be back! read more

My wife found this restaurant on Yelp as were searching for places for dinner that offered takeout given COVID-19 restrictions. Three of us wanted the Lomo Saltado, but then my wife changed her mind figuring she could pick at the other two. I don't recall what she ordered instead, but was not happy with the selection she received compared to what she thought it would be. It came with what appeared to be refried beans which ordinarily I have no issue eating but didn't care for them either. I had the Lomo Saltado and felt it lacked flavor, while my wife thought it contained good flavor. Another son had the Arroz con Pollo and felt the chicken lacked flavor but appreciated what appeared to be fried rice. The yucca fries were ok, nothing to write home about. It came with what appeared to be a cheesy sauce which I found to add no additional complement. The Lomo Saltado comes with fries that were buried under the meat and soggy as a result of the juice from the meat. It reminded me of those restaurants that put a piece of bread under things to soak up the grease. Overall, not a bad meal, but not a great meal. I doubt we will return as opposed to looking for other options. read more

Authentic and delicious food! I was born in Venezuela and it reminds me of home. The ceviche (raw fish cooked in lime juice) was fresh and the best I've had on island. Their fresh juices maracuya (passion fruit) and chica morada (purple corn) are a most try. They also served delicious fried yucca fries with traditional dipping sauce. Everything is fresh and authentic South American food. The staff was friendly and attentive. The location is convenient and the restaurant is decorated beautifully.
