They seem to use fresh ingredients because this is the freshest Chinese food I've ever eaten. It's really delicious. It almost makes you feel guilt free to eat Chinese because the fresh ingredients make you feel like you're eating healthy. Since we found Ming's we only eat our Chinese from there. Our favorites are the honey walnut shrimp, bbq ribs, cho chos (thanks to the person that answered the phone to take my take-out order that recommended I try them for something different from egg rolls), and the green tea ice cream. read more

This is my favorite Chinese place in New Orleans. They have the best quality ingredients Ive ever had at a typical "American" Chinese place. The appetizers are great, the hot and sour soup is the best, and favorite dish is the kung pao shrimp. They have some different menu items that set them apart from other Chinese places. Be careful though - some of the main dishes can be kind of bland. Sadly, they don't deliver... but this is probably a good thing, because otherwise I'd wind up ordering a ton of food from them. This place is really good. I ordered the Mandarin chicken lunch combo. This is not your typical 70% batter 30% chicken. The batter is flavorful and the chicken was juicy. The fried rice had shrimp, ham AND chicken, which was a nice bonus. I liked the cho cho's that came with the lunch combo. They definitely use fresh ingredients. By far the best Chinese food in New Orleans and the metro area. We eat there and also order pick up. My order is always right and always perfect. There combo friend rice is the BEST! Couldn't be happier this new Chinese restaurant opened in Lakeview. Saves me a lot of driving across the river for good food. They have been open for just a few weeks and we have already been here five or six times. The only drawback is they need more seating. They get crowded at lunchtime. The crab Rangoon is excellent. The fried rice is perfection. The egg drop soup is one of the best I have ever had. Tried a few of the menu items so far and all have been very good. Have continued to eat here once or twice a week and have not been disappointed! Our entire office staff has been twice. It's unanimous that it is hands down the best Chinese in town. We love it! Crab rangoons, cho cho, egg drop soup, shrimp Kew, moo goo gai pan and general's chicken are among our favorites, although no one has had anything they didn't like yet. (And there are 9 of us!) staff is very efficient, friendly and accommodating to our large parties. If I had to make one suggestion, it would be to expand the wine list....a must do for Lakeview!!! Ummm....best General Tso's chicken I ever had. The shrimp fried rice and egg drop soup were delicious also. I tried the cashew chicken, pepper steak and sesame chicken which were great, but the Tso's chicken was AMAZING! This is my new favorite restaurant and I can't wait to try the chef's specials. Worst service I ever experienced here. Food is often hit or miss but I still opted to dine here. Never again. The thin Asian woman (maybe the owner) was extremely rude! Our hot and sour soup was cold. My shrimp were undercooked and frankly not fresh. I asked to send it back for something else. She returned with the same plate that I returned. I again repeated I didn't want it. She refused to bring me anything else. She never returned to even refill my iced tea or asked if my dining companion needed anything else. When we finally asked for a refill (which we paid for) she ignored me, returned with a pitcher and slammed the glass down. There's more but I'm certain I won't return so it doesn't matter much! No need to return for mediocre food. read more

Honestly a waste of money. I really wanted to love this place after reading all the positive reviews. We ordered take out and the place looked nice but the food is quite sub par. My friend who is allergic to seafood specifically called and ask to make sure there wasn't any in the egg roll and she was pulling shrimp and possibly crawfish out of it and couldn't eat it. We also ordered beef and broccoli and it was grossly sweet and completely soggy. The soups didn't taste great either. I would love a refund, that would make me feel a bit better about this place. read more

My last night in New Orleans visiting the relatives. I had my fill of fried seafood, po boys, charred oysters, etouffe, gumbo and fried chicken! So, my aunt suggested Mings for Chinese fare. WOW! So glad I got to try this charming restaurant set in a refurbished house complete with a bar in the center and art on the walls. So much to pick from but there were only 3 mouths to feed so we had the cho cho appetizer to stay with. I reluctant at first, since it was fried but it is so full of delicious ingredients you can't go wrong. There were 6 in the order but we only ate 3 to save room for the rest. Next we had the beef and shrimp chow fun. Excellent. My favorite dish to order when I'm in Chinatown in Los Angeles. Ming's is excellent...I wanted to gobble it up! My aunt ordered the sizzling platter that had veggies, shrimp, beef and pork. They sizzle it table side. Great flavor. The beef is tender and cuts with a fork. We had lots of leftovers. W saved room for a scoop of red bean, honey green tea ice cream and mango sorbet. Anniversary special...one scoop for a dollar. The first two are especially made by Creole Creamery for Ming's restaurant . All were great. I liked the tree bean as it wasn't over the top sweet and it was so different and reminded me of Hawaii. Ming and his mother both stopped by the table separately to greet my aunt and uncle. Ming even bought us our ice cream! I'm back in Orange county, California eating my 3 leftover cho cho's as I write my review and reminisce about my meal last night in Louisiana. Thanks Ming's!! read more

My favorite Chinese restaurant in Lakeview area. We always order food to go so my review will be based on the food that we always order to pick up. The crab ragoons, shrimp toast were my favorite appetizers on the menu. Crab ragoons are packed with real crab meat and the hot cheese oozes out when you bite them, shrimp toast were made thinly compared to the traditional thicker version and they're delicious. The eggrolls are huge and wrapped with the thicker wrapper so it'll fill you up if you eat a second one so I prefer the thinner wrappers but they're still good. The pot stickers are flavorful but I always tell them to make them a little more well done since I like them more crunchy outside. The entrees we had wok fried Salt and pepper pork that's spicy, crunchy and bursting with chinese flavor and I've been to Hong Kong and I've eaten a similar dish like this one. We also normally get the peking pork that's sweet tangy and spicy, had mandarin and boneless chicken and the chicken lettuce wraps and we've enjoyed all of them and I highly recommend it if you're around Lakeview or Lakeshore area. read more

If you liked China Rose when it was in Lakeview, you'll LOVE this place. The Cho-Cho is outstanding, eggrolls packed with big shrimp, awesome fried rice. Everything tastes fresh. Haven't had a thing a didn't enjoy yet. A little small as far as seating goes, so you may not get a table right away (it's usually busy), but worth sitting at the bar or waiting. My daughter wanted some Chinese food Saturday night and she wasn't happy with last two places we tried. A friend had told me about Ming's and how great it was so we looked it up and found the menu and ordered a few things to pick up. She got the honey walnut shrimp and she loved it and I had to try it and it was the best I've ever had! Then we had an order of shrimp fried rice and I was blown away by the amount they gave us. It was enough to feed 6 people and really good. I got the lettuce wraps and it was also very good. We definitely found our new Chinese place and will be trying many things. I am so in love with the food here. Everything tastes so fresh and well prepared. We've been several times and every entree I've ordered has been delicious. Last time I had the Lomi Lomi, which is not something I would usually go for because so many places under cook bacon, but here the bacon was crisp. Their eggrolls are the best I've ever had. The filling is not mostly cabbage and the wrapping is the perfect texture, thick and fresh, but not too crispy, and cooked to perfection. The white sauce on the honey walnut shrimp is just simply amazing. The lo mein is not overly salty and cooked just right. The only thing I have ordered and not liked is the egg drop soup. I don't like the flavor or consistency. The crispy strips it comes with are stale or overly chewy. However, my son likes the soup, but he's only had egg drop at one other place. He's 7, so has just started branching out and trying new foods. read more
