I went with my husband for lunch. We ordered wor won ton and beef chow fun. The shrimp in the won ton was cooked just right and the beef and chicken in it was very tender. The broth was very good. The won tons were small but okay. The chow fun was very good. It had what Chinese call wok hay. In addition to bean sprouts it also had broccoli. What was unusual was they charged $1 per person for hot tea. Usually only dim sum restaurants charge for tea. read more

This is an excellent Chinese restaurant. I met some friends here for lunch and it was great. The ambiance in the restaurant is wonderful. The wait staff are attentive and helpful. The food was delicious. We all ordered from the lunch menu; it is one of the rare Chinese restaurants that offers their lunch menu on Saturdays. I had tofu with deluxe vegetables and steamed rice, one friend ordered sesame chicken and chow mein, and the other friend ordered Kung Pao chicken and chow mein. They ordered Arnold Palmers and I ordered hot tea; my hot tea came in a clear tea pot so I could see the blooming tea ball expand. Everything was lovely. We will definitely be back. read more

We have been looking for a local Chinese restaurant for the last few months. I found Ming's on Google Maps, and thought we would give it a try. I'm very glad we did. First, the gentleman that took the phone order was pleasant, and took the order, and repeated it back. When I went to pick it up, the Resturant was clean and welcoming both inside and out. The dining room was about 1/2 full, but the steady stream of takeout orders seemed to never end. The staff kept me updated on when my order would be out. When we sat down to eat, the food was delicious, still hot (I took it back to Walnut Creek), smelled great, and tasted even better. The price wasn't too bad considering the price of food now. We will definetly will return again. We finally found out go to place for Chinese. Thanks Ming's!!! read more

Great spot for Chinese food. Found this little gem while shopping in the area. We had a short wait, 3 to 5 minutes, when arriving towards the end of the lunch rush. Once seated we opted for dinner portions of BBQ pork chow mein, house fried rice, and salt and pepper fish. Service was fast and attentive. read more

My family and I were looking for a Chinese restaurant to celebrate my father's birthday and came across this resturant from a random Yelp search. They are currently offering take outs only but was kind to let us dine in. They served the food in small to go containers. With the overpriced dishes, I felt cheated of buying 2 star flavored food. We ordered several main entrees and an appetizer. Most of their dishes cost about $15 with small portion sizes. 1) Ming's fried ginger chicken- Not as tasty. We asked for extra sauce. 2) Deluxe chow mein: this dish has an average taste with a few veggies and shrimps. 3) Appetizer Fried Calamari with sweet and sour dipping sauce. The calamari batter was bland. 4) Chicken with strings beans had big slices of chicken. Not a fan of how the meat were sliced but has a good flavor. The string beans were crunchy. 5) Fish Fillet with mixed vegetables was missing something. Small slices of fish lost beneath the veggies. I am not sure what it is but have eaten in many other Chinese places to know that something is off. I gave this restaurant an extra star for their excellent customer service. It was disappointing that the food quality was not up to par with most of the Chinese restaurants in the bay area but hope that they will bring more authentic tasting food and evaluate their pricing. read more

This is the worst Chinese food that I have tried in my 80 years of life. The calamari was like chewing on a rubber band, Their General Chicken had no flavor. the Deluxe Chow Mein had large doughy noodles and China Panda outshined them for these two dishes. and finally the Mongolian Lamb was without any lamb flavor, it could have been beef. Our first time and it was:Tasty! The servers and I think the owner were incredibly kind to our son who loved the fortune cookies. We ordered the house special fried rice, sizzling rice soup with shrimp, and beef chow fun, and the steamed fish with bok choy. The soup was so tasty, we all finished it (we usually don't at other places) lol. The fried rice was tasty too. The noodles in the beef chow fun was good but not enough beef. I felt like there were only a couple of pieces swimming in a bunch of noodles. So probably won't get that next time. Bok Choy with steamed fish wasn't bad at all, in fact very good too but fish fillet pieces were smaller than what we're used to but overall tasty! The ambiance was nice when we went for dinner. Felt like I was transported to those Chinese restaurants I grew up going to with the antique Chinese dishes as decor and interior. Will be back! read more

Very attentive service and pleasant atmosphere. The crabmeat puffs were good and appropriately served with accompanying sauces, including hot mustard. General Tso Chicken and Sweet & Sour Chicken were both very tasty and ample portion sizes allowing for a second takeaway meal for two. The General Chicken is listed on the menu as spicy, although it was relatively mild. Next time I will request additional spice if possible. Definitely foresee a return visit and a new restaurant to add to the 'playlist' for Chinese cuisine in the area. read more

I'm happy to report that Ming's Chinese in Pleasant Hill is open for indoor dining! It was takeout only for the longest time, but the old employees are back, providing excellent service and dishing out some yummy Chinese food. My tummy is full, and my heart is happy. I had a delicious dinner. For a long time, I was known as the curry chicken lady at Ming's, and tonight it did not disappoint. Curry chicken, kung pao three, and potstickers were scrumptious! I also love their salt and pepper fish filet and the crispy ginger chicken or prawns. Of course, their hot and sour soup is great too! The restaurant is very clean, and it looks great. Service is always fast and friendly. Ming and I usually chat about the Warriors when I visit. Lunch specials are still very reasonable. I passed by Ming's one afternoon, and as I was looking for Chinese food that day, I stopped to pick up a lunch on my way home. Salt and pepper fish is a favorite dish of mine. Lo and behold, it was on the menu! So I ordered the salt and pepper fish fillet lunch special. For dine in, the lunch special includes egg rolls, white rice, and soup. However, Ming's takeout doesn't include the soup, and they were out of white rice that day. The cashier offered brown rice, fried rice, or chow mein. I swapped in fried rice for the extra $1. I really liked the generous portion sizes--it was enough food for my lunch and for leftovers the next day. The fish was delightfully light and crispy. The salt, pepper, and jalapenos balanced the dish nicely and highlighted the delicate flavor of the fish. The chili peppers were unexpected, but I found that the peppers added an interesting smoky twist to the sweet heat of the jalapenos. All around, a great experience from Ming's! Finally got around to trying out the oh so popular Ming's, and I have to say that I was very pleased. I've only dined inside (pre-covid), but the food quality is excellent for what you receive. Had a quick lunch here while running some errands in the area, and the food and service were wonderful. As far as their lunch specials go, this spot has two elements that I absolutely love when it comes to Chinese food: it's good and cheap! Mmm hmm! You know my cheap ass loves me a good deal, especially during lunch time. Lunch specials are around $10 a plate and include hot and sour soup, an egg roll and white rice (you can upgrade to brown rice, fried rice, or chow mein for an extra charge). Decided to try their honey walnut prawns since this is what seems to be a popular item here, and they did not disappoint! They started me off with that lovable hot tea. Portions are adequate for the price. The honey walnut prawns were delicious! They came deep fried to perfection in a sweet honey sauce with some tasty candied walnuts. The fried rice was fluffy and flavorful and the egg roll was perfectly crispy. Literally scarfed my meal down in a matter of minutes. Yeeeep, that ish was so damn good! I wouldn't say that this is a spot where you'd have lunch leftovers, but you'll definitely walk out of there stuffed and satisfied. Service was very attentive and my interactions with the staff were all very pleasant. I can totally see why this place is a local favorite. The quality of the food that you'll receive for the price is seriously a steal. I'm looking forwarding to grabbing some takeout from here during the COVID restrictions.
