We ordered takeout from Min's Kitchen this past weekend. First off, the food was all very good. We ordered the Pad Thai with chicken, the Yellow Curry (medium), the BBQ pork, and the garlic string beans. Everything was packaged well and the service received on pickup was great. They seem like very nice people and we will definitely dine in in the future. Perhaps my only complaint was discovering the prices have gone up and their web site does not reflect those price changes so it was a bit more expensive than expected when I arrived to pay. read more

Having spent my summer in Thailand, I was eating pad thai every single day. Since returning to the states, I can confidently say this pad thai is just as good, if not better, than the original in thailand. I spoke with the owner and all ingredients are natural, not in a can. The whole plate was exploding with flavors and brought back so many memories from the summer. Again, the BEST pad thai in Venutra/LA county, by far!!! I could not stress that enough. They have been open for 48 years since writing this and I believe they deserve more love. The owners are the sweetest people I have met, as Thai people are, and the vibe was amazing within the restaurant. Everything felt so authentic. I ordered a few dishes for take out: fried rice, chicken and cashews, a vegetarian tofu meal for a friend, and pad thai. No complaints; each dish was tasty and I especially enjoyed the pad thai. They also got the order right with no mistakes. It's a tad on the pricier side but nothing crazy and I really appreciate the kindness of the staff. It's a privately owned business and you can tell they work hard to make their customers happy. I appreciate that. They appeared to be a bit short-staffed even though things weren't too busy, so I had to wait about 10 minutes once I arrived to receive my food. In a perfect world, pickup would have been faster but it was not a big deal. They've been around for a while and have served the La Canada community for years. Most recently we seemed to have gotten yesterday's leftovers... soggy... heavy... not the best by far. We tried the pad thai and pad seew, sizzling beef, panang curry.. the noddles only had a portion covered in sauce the rest was clumped white mehh. Min's Kitchen is a Thai gem in La Cañada. I can't believe I only came around to trying this place out a couple months ago even though I've lived here my whole life. This place is definitely a place for regulars because on the days I see Min working the restaurant, she's talking to the guests about their kids, work, etc. My go-to orders here are the yellow curry (5/5 stars) and the pad thai. I've also had their combo satays which are good but not spectacular. The curry is really what keeps me coming back tho. It's about $10-11/plate and I love that it's local. Because sometimes, even going to Glendale or Pasadena is kind of a headache ya know? There's street parking or lot parking in the back. Definitely gonna try to be a regular here. read more

Went again yesterday (5/26/23). Started with the spring rolls and had peanut sauce with it. Main was Sizzling Beef (gf); I had a chicken curry with peanut sauce (that was incredibly good and had some spice to it. Side of white rice. Thai ice tea. No dessert. Bill with tip -$87. So disappointed. I love Thai food but this restaurant has been a disappointment the last two visits. I know what good Thai food tastes like and their dishes lack flavor and quality ingredients. The texture of the noodles are mushy, and if you order with a protein like pork, it's non-existent. Portions are small for the price they charge. Also my pet peeve is the condiment caddy (the extra chili and peppers). They need to replenish the containers and provide fresh product to a table. But instead it felt and looked like yesterday's leftovers, half empty. It's just not a good look and makes you wonder about quality control. Hot tea ( tea bag and water) was 4 bucks. No one asks if you need a refill or even if anything more is needed. They forgot to bring the rice with the entree and then proceeded to overcharge for a measley portion. Overall the service was sub standard, overpriced and lacked quality. I'm sorry because I know this is a favorite amongst the residents in La Cañada but I won't settle. I remember having a really great dining experience here a few years ago. The Pad Thai was very memorable! I decided to order my other fav during this visit, Panang Curry with chicken. Just want to start off by saying that there has been a price increase to their menu. Upcharge of $1 on every item - I totally respect and understand why some small businesses are doing this but I would highly advise letting your customer know in advance. I wasn't given an order total even though they said they would return my call to provide one. The curry itself was really oily and not very enjoyable. It did not sit very well. I sorted out all the chicken because it honestly did not taste like chicken. It was more similar to those "chicken pieces" you get in a grocery store salad, which I am sure we all love so much... This might have simply been a bad day or perhaps my tastebuds were off, but I don't think this will be my go-to when I think of having a nice hot bowl of curry. Passed down through generations the owner of the reataurant is the grandma who still takes the orders and has maintained the quality and taste of her food for many years. Their sticky rice wirh mango is the best and my favourite! Must try dessert when u visit. Upon entering for lunch we were seated by person with an attitude, given menu and asked if we are ready to order after approx. 30 seconds of having seated. We asked for more time. In about a minute or so lady with attitude came back stating kitchen is closing at 3 (we came around 2:35 pm and upon entering we were not informed of kitchen closing soon otherwise we would just leave). We were about to leave because we wanted to enjoy the food and not have them to rush us. Person assured us it's ok, we can still have a lunch it's just kitchen closing soon. We made our order. Food was smelling so bad and it was actually 2 different orders. It was already too much. Person kept bugging us and yelled something from the other side, we didn't hear her so we decided to might as well ask for the check as we couldn't enjoy the food it seemed not fresh and smelled terrible and we didn't want her to rush us. She started talking with such an attitude and pretty much yelling. I asked her to tone down her voice as it is disrespectful to customers who are here to eat, pay and go (unreasonable price for the good she served to us). She would not stop. When we walked we got off to a rough start when it took a little while to be seated. There are signs that ask patrons to be patient, which sets up your expectations. The ladies working there are so cute and very welcoming. They hustled and were kind and polite. We ordered Pad Si Ewe and Satay and both were flavorful and delicious. I'm looking for a good Thai restaurant locally because I love Thai food. Decided to try Min's Kitchen one weekend. The staff is super nice and fast. That's important for first impression. Easy parking and nice location. Now the food.... Not impressed. Pad Thai is too sweet, but bland. No flavor just sweet. Skimpy ingredients. For that much $$ you should be getting more goodness. Same deal with the Pad Se Ew. Just not that good for some reason. However, the BBQ chicken was good. The sauce was good. The free fried wonton skin was a nice touch. I guess it's the area, the food is quite pricey for casual Thai food. I just wish the noodles tasted better. I don't mind paying more if it is worth it. read more

We have struggled to find Thai food in Los Angeles that has been solid, we came here on a friend's recommendation and it was by far our worst experience to date. Came for dinner, restaurant was nearly empty, had a completely space cadet and inattentive waitress who could not multitask to save her life. We ordered multiple dishes, all lacked flavor, and when I say flavor I don't just mean heat. Basically bland. We needed heaps of chili sauce to even make it palatable. I could go into further detail but I was so bothered by the whole experience I really don't want to relive it in my head. I would never go back here. Food and service were both VERY bad. I've been here a few times. I always get the pad se ew with beef. Today, I got egg rolls (super crispy and on the smaller side - not much fillings don't don't except a typical egg roll), Sweet and Sour Chicken, Yellow Curry, Mango Sticky Rice and some rice. I've always gotten the pad see ew and everytime I have a craving I go here. The Yellow Curry portion is on the small side but such great favor (big chucks of meat, potatoes, and carrot), Sweet and Sour Chicken also super yummy (sweet not sour, but I can drink straight lemon juice so it's hard for anything to be sour for me. Crunchy when it's fresh), Mango Sticky- yummy and a great portion. Honestly, the mango sticky rice almost taste like a healthier version on a cake. Definitely, get it while it's in season.
