Papaya salad

Food: Delicious food that is very flavorful Customer service: exquisite even when I went 40 mins before closing on a Saturday night.... Now that's better than exquisite standard for customer service! Ambience: solves homesickness because the interior relies heavy on nostalgia and coziness almost like you're in someone's home.

We've been coming to Min's Kitchen for more than 20 years. It's a fixture and the dining room is frequented by regulars. The food looks, smells, tastes, and feels like its homemade and nothing something warmed up from a Sysco truck. There are mounds of vegetables in most dishes and the sauces are nectars from the gods of Thailand.

Came here for dinner and it's a pretty legit Thai spot. It's a small, vintage place in La Canada, with parking around the back. The interior in feels quite old, but I think this spot has been here for a long time. Servers are friendly and food was great. Ordered the mus mun lamb curry with rice. It was absolutely delicious and the peanuts added some nice texture. Their tom kha soup was also delicious and flavorful. It's a bit pricey but great spot.

Sizzling beef

Good Thai food in the city of La CaƱada The owners are very friendly and personable. I felt like I was a member of the family sitting at the kitchen table. They recommend some of their popular dishes like the sizzling beef which comes on a hot skillet with sautƩed spinach and a peanut sauce. The beef was super tender and that peanut sauce was very flavorful. The crispy chili chicken with cashews was the popular dish at the table. The dish is true to its name. Get it! We also ordered some staples like pad see ew and hot and sour soup. Also hit the spot. They have been in business for over 40 years and there's a reason why they still are. Don't forget to order the mango sticky rice!

My favorite restaurant in the area! Everyone is so nice here and the service is amazing. I got the yellow curry and my boyfriend got the panang curry. Both were very good but the star of the show is the sizzling beef! It is incredible!

Sticky Rice With Mango

From the moment we walked in, we felt the comfort and authenticity of Min's Kitchen. We were politely greeted and welcomed in, and all of the workers were extremely hospitable and pleasant. They contributed to the homey feeling of the restaurant, but that is not to overshadow the food. The dishes, no different than the ambience and service, were outstanding. We ordered the Red Curry and Mango Sticky Rice, which were both extremely flavorful, fresh, and comforting. Min's kitchen is definitely a gem in La CaƱada that is worth a visit.

Inside of the restaurant

I eat at a lot of trendy places with trendy chefs but when giving this review I have to consider the area and also that I've only tried two dishes. La CaƱada is an afluent city and a small one, at that. Given the area and how small the town is, I'd say this place is acceptable. The table with two young men that sat down next to me said that they really like the chicken satay. I, on the other hand, ordered a Chinese dish at a Thai place. It wasn't outstanding but it also wasn't bad. The lady who works here is very sweet and seems to know a lot of her customers by name. She said she'd be closed for summer because they don't have a waiter to help. I think they have been in business for a long time. In addition, I got the seasonal mango sticky rice and was very happy with it. I've had mango sticky rice at other Thai places and hated it because they either put too much butter or too much salt or too much condensed milk or the mangos were sour. I mean, there is A LOT that could go wrong but they did well with that one.

A happy diner with the owner, Toi.

My wife and I finally dined at Min's Kitchen tonight. We live about a quarter mile from the restaurant and have driven by it almost every day. It became a joke between us that we had never dined there. She had dined there about 30 years ago. I am not familiar with Thai food but had plenty of time to peruse the menu and wasn't rushed to order. The staff member who greeted was patient and gave us plenty of time to decide. I selected the Hot Pot Soup dish. My wife ordered a cup of wonton soup, fried shrimp and we shared the satay combo and mini egg rolls. We didn't realize until later that the owner, Toi, took order and answered some questions we regarding our choices. The food came out in not too much time and everything was delicious. I truly enjoyed the Hot Pot Soup that had shrimp, scallops, calamari, fish, clams and mussels in a savory broth. I asked for less spicy but will ask for a little more heat next time. After we completed our meal, we were able to have a nice conversation with Toi who told us the history of the restaurant. She was so kind and friendly and definitely made us feel like family. It's evident from all the different people who came in for dine in or take out that Toi and her staff truly appreciate each and every customer. Many were greeted like family as we were treated with a hug from Toi when we left. I neglected to take a photo of my meal but made up for it with a photo of myself with Toi. It shows the love and kindness they serve with their delicious food. That is the reason we will be back for sure.

We waited around 30 minutes to order and get our food and there were quite a few people in the store when we went on a weekend around 7 PM. We ordered the fried rice with chicken and pad Thai. The portions looked relatively small, but filled us up perfectly. We were a party of three but only ordered two entrƩe since we weren't that hungry. The fried rice was not too salty and was very well balanced, and the cucumbers added an amazing freshness. The pad Thai had a strong acidity to it, but we enjoyed the crispy pork belly it came with. Both of the entrƩes were not too oily or greasy. The rest of their menu looked amazing and I hope to be back to try it soon. They also have Thai tea which I am a sucker for, so I'll definitely be back to try that too. Overall, I'd recommend this place for some delicious, casual Thai food and good vibes.

I got their Spicy Shrimp Pad Thai and omg... it was lowkey one of the best pad thai I've had in a WHILE. And I don't say that lightly because I'm picky picky when it comes to pad thai. It's literally the one dish I always order at any Thai restaurant, so my standards is kinda up there. But also... this was in the middle of the desert at a music festival so ngl I didn't have high hopes lol. But their Spicy Shrimp Pad Thai was so good!! The flavor was super authentic, spicy, tangy, just hitting all the right notes. The noodles had that perfect chewiness, not clumped together so they know exactly what they doing with their food! The shrimp were big and tasted fresh and all the toppings: bean sprouts, grounded peanuts, and lime, just brought everything together so nicely. Also the staff were super sweet and friendly, and I got my food in likes 5 minutes, gave me more enough time to sit down and enjoy my pad thai while waiting for Sabrina Carpenter's stage setup. Miya's Pad Thai completely won me over at Coachella, it's sooo good to the point where now I actually wanna go visit the real restaurant if I'm ever around the Altadena area.

My husband and I came here for the first time Friday night. The interior is beautifully decorated,…read morequaint and charming with an overall calming feel. It's super clean but without feeling steril. When we sat down, we noticed a nice woman with her mom who was celebrating her 95th birthday and we sat next to them. They were both very sweet and mentioned the items they got and how good everything was. We basically mirrored their dishes and were not disappointed by our choices. Generally, when you're at a Thai restaurant, you can't go wrong when you take advantage of suggestions given to you by two beautiful Thai people. We started off with an appetizer called "Gold Rush" which are 6 crispy, yet chewy wontons that are cooked until golden and then the dipping sauce was a tangy soy vinaigrette which I initially wished had not been taken away with our plates when we were done but any concern I had was soon forgotten when the other dishes came out because everything was so well seasoned that I never once thought, "I wish I still had some of that dipping sauce". We ordered the Laab Chicken which I always crave because so many Thai restaurants don't serve it. But Spice Season offers it and that might have been my favorite dish. I always order it without the rice powder because I don't like the powdery ground rice. I think it's a distraction from everything else in the dish. Our server didn't blink an eye when I asked that it not be included. Next, we ordered the Pad Thai. It was delicious. The noodles are thinner rice noodles (like angel hair) than what I have typically experienced (more like the size of linguini) but I loved the dish overall, would not change a thing and will definitely order it again. Blazing Basil Beef was the next dish that came out. The beef was super tender that night but it did not heat up well the next day. It got tough, even though I heated it up using a very low microwave power setting. This was in no way a reflection on how they cooked this dish because it was perfect when it came out. I will try the Heaven Scent next time or Spice Season Steak in lieu of Blazing Basil but that is not to say I would never order it again - far from it - but we are excited to try other dishes as I have noted further below. Rounded everything out with the Pineapple Fried Rice which I crave just as much as Laab but I'm usually nervous to try it because so many times the rice doesn't have any flavor, or not enough pineapple juice but not the case here! It was delicious! D'oh! I forgot to mention the Matcha Cheesecake which was heavenly. It took me several days to finish that off and unlike the Blazing Basil, it held up fantastically in the fridge for the next few days which is how long it took me to finish it off. Honestly, everything we tried was incredibly fresh, bursting with different flavors and cooked the way we enjoy our Thai food. We were not rushed, and the person who took our order said that we had ordered plenty of food which I appreciated - we do tend to over-order but that's because we eat the leftovers but I thought it was nice that she gave me the "that's probably enough" sign. Last thing I will mention just to help others on the spicy scale, we love our Thai food spicy. I read some reviews where people said the food was not spicy enough. We told our server that we like spicy and that we would leave it up to her - she said that everything would be a 4 out of 5 on the spice scale and while it was perfect for me, my husband thought it was just a tad too spicy but I think he's just out of practice. ;) We will probably go with 3 out of 5 next time, unless I'm alone. Then I would go back to 4 on the spice scale! I'm excited to try the Papaya Salad, Lime Steak Salad, Tom-Yum Fried Rice, Heaven Scent, and Lemongrass Soup. They definitely have a wide variety of food offerings, including things I've never heard of or seen. Something for everyone!
