big, nice, sprawling and relaxing place to have a bite. there is a lovely outdoor courtyard, or you…read more can eat inside in what feels like a rustic / modern farmhouse space. by that i mean open ceilings, beams, lots of 'raw' style. its all elegant, relaxing, and has an upscale touch. came for a casual business meeting around 6pm and it was the perfect ambience and setting. didn't have a TON to eat since biz is biz and i don't want spinach in my teeth. but the fish i had, and the appetizer ceasar salad my colleague and i shared, plus some vodka drink i forget what it was (if i forget it must have done the trick), were all very good. service was colorful and lovely (a very varied cast haha). a huge variety of diners, families, etc, all clearly enjoying themselves which says a lot about the place. highly recommended. ps - there is no parking on sunset 4-7pm so, you have to hunt down a space on a side street if you come early! and there are some parking limits ie 1 hour, 2 hour... depending on how close you park. i think i parked on wilcox on an off street and it was like 3 blocks away but its fine bc u should walk after you eat!

Tried the 3 course DineLA dinner menu $45…read more Picked here for the and lush patio and proximity to hollywood bowl. Server was friendly and even shared which items are full portions for DineLA! ~First Course~ Parker House Rolls Went with this bc they are known for bread. It is similar to Hawaiian rolls and tastes great, but I don't think it was necessary to eat this here. The store bought ones, after some prep, can be comparable. Roasted Meatballs might be more money worth for the 1st course because of portion! Comes with a slice of focaccia bread. But the bread came a little cold so wasn't the best tasting. ~Main Course ~ Crispy Skinned Rainbow Trout Amaze amaze amaze. Would order this again! The trout was perfectly seasoned and cooked just right, flakey and tender. Not dry at all, which is my biggest pet peeve against fish. This is also very money worth because reg price is $31 and they gave the full portion. Mary's Chicken Schnitzel Very tender chicken! I know it's like European but... my taste buds wants to put katsu sauce on it. ~Dessert~ Panna Cotta I was a bit apprehensive going with this order because I'm not big on jello-like pudding, but this version was milky and soft which I much preferred. And I enjoyed scraping everything off the plate. The other dessert option was chocolate cake (not full portion) and it is delicious. Would rec. ps. they also have a seafood selection that was very tempting!

Finally made it to Beachwood Cafe!…read more On a random Sunday, I was dreading how crowded it was going to be, but I was pleasantly surprised. Upon walking in, the crowd of people were waiting for tables so I was able to head left to the register/counter. For my first meal here, I wanted to try the 12" Micky D's Dropout pizza (minus onions). As I looked around, there was a decent amount of seating from stools against the windows to a private room with curtains open off the register area. Bright, airy and busy were my first impressions. I have to say service was a standout; I had stood at the register for not even a moment when a nice girl smiled and said someone would be right with me and right then, a guy came on over to take my order and answer any questions I had. As for the food, I enjoyed this unique pizza. The sauce had a slight kick to it for my weak palate, and I think my favorite part of this was the pickles throughout. Crust was crispy, and overall, it was filling. Looking forward to my next visit, either to dine in or getting it to go... Okay, my following visit was the next day and I loaded up on grease (bacon) and starch (breakfast potatoes and panko crusted fries). Bacon and breakfast potatoes were good, fries were okay but even at okay, I wiped the plate clean. Service once again was A+, and one day I'll dine in to have the whole experience. Finally a third trip within the week, I had the s'mores latte and chocolate chip pancakes. I wish the latter came in 2 instead of 3 since I never finish all of them, but they were okay. I'd skip the latte next time and try something else that I'm sure is good. The only thing that prevents this from being 5-stars is that the price on the receipt for the pizza I had is higher than the online menu. It's only a couple dollars difference (GF crust is additional but I did not order that) but I wish they were all on the same page. I admit it was the higher price on their physical menu, but I hope they can update accordingly. I know the excuse would be the typical 'prices are subject to change without notice'... Parking is actually pretty good from what I've experienced so far on a weekend and during the week; they have suggestions on their website which I posted below-

We finished with their magical desserts including homemade baklava which capped off an incredible meal. The atmosphere was also warm and inviting and very clean. We had a professional chef in our party, and even he gave Vala Kitchen his highest praise for the culinary technique, service, and flavor profiles. Start with the "farm vegetables" carrots, yes, but carrots the way a poet means them. Sweet, blistered, singing. And then the aioli..... oh the aioli. I don't know what wizardry was in it and I've decided I don't want to. Some mysteries are better kept as mysteries you can drive back to. My wife and I looked at each other over that plate the way people do when they realize the afternoon has just changed shape. We are coming back for it. Every day. For the rest of our lives. Put a plaque on our table. .....The salmon belly burger was mine and I guarded it like family silver, rich, silky, the kind of fat that melts into everything around it. My wife had the smoked beet quesadilla, which arrived smelling like a good fire and tasted like someone had thought very hard about beets and finally gotten it right. She offered me a bite. She regretted offering me a bite...... And the owner served us himself. Warm, and present, the kind of host who tells you about a dish because he's proud of it, not because it's a script. That pride is all over the food. You can taste the years of devotion in it. Go. Sit down. Order the vegetables first. Let someone who cares about cooking feed you a real, considered, and generous plate. This is what a neighborhood restaurant is supposed to feel like.

The duck was exactly how I like it: crispy without being burnt and packed with flavor. And then there was the Gringo Burger for my gringa, which she loved. We finished with the Pavlova, which was the perfect ending. Great food, relaxed atmosphere, and the kind of place that makes you start thinking about what you'll order the next time before you've even left. We'll definitely be back.
