My guess is they just keep getting better just like Locale and Contigo. One word of caution, with nothing but hard surfaces and open spaces it's a bit noisy. read more

And, it was, with some work, enough for all the shrimp...barely. For an upscale restaurant, my having to use a fork to dive to the bottom of your cost-controlled sauces made me think of Oliver Twist - as in "please sir...", etc. I think the shift manager went around a couple of times, but did not stop to ask how things were, probably thinking "wow, this guy really loved the remoulade, scraped it clean". Excited to try this new place in Tucson. Warning, get a reservation. We waited 1.5 hours for 3 people. It is new so understandable but definitely a smaller venue with not a ton of seating. The inside is very modern and minimalistic, romantic lighting. Big open windows and a small but not fully ready outdoor area. We ordered the grilled cheese, fish and chips and ribs, with the onion dip starter. The onion dip was the best thing we got. I think the food was good. It was great portion sizes, I wasn't a huge fan of the sauce on the ribs. Happy to try it here, I like the vibes. I wouldn't be racing to come back soon just generally because I didn't feel it was over the top amazing,, but excited to see them grow. Would be willing to try other menu items as well. This restaurant just opened probably about a week two weeks ago. It's located in the same shopping center as Whole Foods. It's very much an industrial feel restaurant the way it's decorated. It's really nice and open space we sat at the bar reservations are recommended and we enjoyed a French dip, fish and chips and Ahi tuna tartare and as an appetizer We got the five onion dip. Everything was delicious. Everything was fresh made. The Aki was exceptionally fresh. The staff is really nice. The bartenders are very attentive the noise level is kind of high, which was odd because there wasn't that many people yet the noise was kind of up there other than that it's a great place. We visited this restaurant because it looks fantastic and sounded promising but our experience was a bit of a mixed bag. We started with the tuna tartare which was actually quite good. However the salmon was not to our taste at all. It was not necessarily terrible but the flavor profile just definitely did not work for us. We will probably give it another shot in the future though because my fiance has not stopped talking about those darn tuna tartare chips. I was pretty excited to try this place but was pretty disappointed. Our server was great but the food was just, meh. We ordered a wedge salad and that was super tasty. We also ordered the artichoke appetizer which wasn't seasoned and all. It was just boiled and thrown on the plate. For entrees, we had salmon and the grilled fish special, swordfish. Both were fine but nothing to write home about. The mashed potatoes that they were served with had an odd texture to them and again, no flavor. For the cost of the meal, we've definitely had better. Went with out of town friends. I had never even heard of it, which is unusual, as I like to check out new places and people ask me where to go all the time. Then I saw it was same folks as Locale, which is not a fave. But I liked this much more. Other than the fact that it was very loud (reason for 4 stars) and not very crowded to be so loud. 3 out of 6 wear hearing aids and were having a hard time. But service was excellent and everyone liked their food. There was fish and chips, huge pile of fish, 2 salmons, cleaned their plates, 2 French dips. I had a burger, it is my favorite thing and I try them everywhere that has them. It was delish, I asked for med rare and it actually came that way. Their coleslaw is quite tasty and I sampled some fries that were nice and crispy. I'm ready to go have another burger. read more

I hosted a private business event here on 3/3 and was overcharged by $400. I notified the restaurant the very next day, yet they refused to correct their mistake or issue a refund. I presented several reasonable solutions, and they still refused to make it right. CHECK YOUR ITEMIZED RECEIPT BEFORE YOU LEAVE--this restaurant does not take responsibility for their billing errors. The private event space is also extremely poorly designed. The kitchen is directly next to the room, and the noise was loud enough to disrupt my guests and the presenter. I had to ask the manager to intervene because it was that distracting. On top of that, our event was delayed by 10 minutes due to a technical issue that the manager couldn't resolve. They had to call their tech person to come on-site. For a venue that claims to host multiple private events each week, this level of unpreparedness is unacceptable. Overall, this experience was unprofessional, disruptive, and mishandled from start to finish. I would not recommend this venue for any type of private event. read more

I had the ribs and cole slaw. Neither were good. Ribs were fall off the bone but tasted like it was made in a crockpot...then sauce slopped on top, absolutely not sear on the outside. It's pretty hard to screw up cole slaw. Was neither tangy or sweet. Had no flavor whatsoever. Onion rings and cornbread served in a cast iron skillet were good. Menu choices were not very interesting. We were there at lunch and the place was practically empty, so there was no excuse for the service. No refills for water, no check ins. My friends treated me to a birthday lunch and made a small birthday cake they were hoping to have as our dessert. We were told I could not eat the cake on premise and suggested that we go to Whole Foods to eat the cake after we had the meal at the restaurant. I am always looking for a good restaurant in midtown to go before l/after UA events or as a midpoint to meet with friends on the opposite side of town. Very friendly and accommodating at the start. We were given a booth and the open atmosphere was nice. The oysters were excellent and easily the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, service and execution slipped as the evening went on. Plates were dropped at the table without much care, and the fish of the day (swordfish) came out slightly overcooked. The haddock in the fish-and-chips was actually fantastic, but the fries arrived cold--not lukewarm, but cold. Staff did replace them, which I appreciated, though the second portion was noticeably smaller with tiny fries. Meh. The coleslaw felt like an afterthought, and I ended up leaving much of my meal unfinished. Service timing became the biggest issue. Our waitress suggested dessert and we ordered the key lime pie (heard it was bomb!), but it never arrived. Even after spoons were set down and we waited about 15 minutes. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy, yet staff seemed scattered and no one checked back on drinks or follow-ups. Aside from our initial round, we were never offered another beverage. At that point, I was just kind of bummed and wanted to leave. Prices are reasonable and there's potential here, the seafood itself shows promise, but the overall experience felt disorganized and inattentive. With so many staff on the floor yet little engagement, it's hard to see myself returning when there are equal or better options in town. I had heard the cocktails were good here but had not heard of just how good they are as well as the food. Best described as a semi- upscale bar type food menu and decor...it is not a large menu but there is something for everyone. The portions surprised me (they can't be accused of skimping) and everything we ordered was delicious. It's a good thing they call the corn bread an appetizer because it doesn't feel as guilty when you stuff your face on this deliciousness. I am usually picky when it comes to mac and cheese but here I had no qualms. The bbq ribs were good ... not my favorite but dining partner loved it. Not pictured is the Oreo pie we took to go...and yesss... get the pie! Service was phenomenal. It's loud (even sitting outdoors)... but it's a place where you eat, drink and be merry...and merry you will be. The vibe is whatever you want it to be... but not pretentious. Ambiance was great. Loved the bar set up and bartenders were friendly. Service was good however the food was not as expected. My friend had been previously a couple of times and raved about it. So perhaps I expected more. I ordered the fish of the day which was Mahi Mahi. My first impression was that the portion was extremely small. It tasted good but hardly filled me up. Then I ordered the Coconut Cream pie for dessert. Well the pie filling was delicious but the crust was a bit rubbery and not so great. So, maybe I was there on an off day. My husband and I decided to try the newly opened Miramonte restaurant owned by the same restaurant group of Contigo and (our favorite) Locale! It was our anniversary so we were excited to sit at the bar and order drinks and some appetizers. The interior design is contemporary, very modern and the bar area is meticulously put together catering to every taste. We ordered wine and began our appetizers. The manager and bar staff were welcoming and answered some of our questions regarding our oysters. Service was fantastic and we were surprised they were so busy for a Monday! (Which is great!) I love the design touches with the large open dining area away from the bar and the historic images being projected near the kitchen. Everything we tried was absolutely delightfully, fresh and fun. We can't wait to head back to try some main entrees. The tuna tartar, shrimp (meaty and so flavorful!) and oysters hit the spot for our special occasion. Beautiful new space. We went for lunch on Saturday since evening reservations weren't available. My husband got the oyster platter and steak tartar. Oysters were top notch. Tartar was tasty but a little roughly chopped and inconsistently mixed. The onion dip is a must order. The ribs with crispy fries and coleslaw was a large order easy to share amongst two ppl. The key lime pie is not to be missed. Tasted like a slice of FL. Hubs ordered the Miramonte Martini and said it was delicious. I look forward to coming back to try more of the menu. read more

Atmosphere- The acoustics are terrible. It is so loud that you can't hear your waitstaff; the manager, your friends, yourself, and it's dark, except the kitchen which is very bright. Waitress was not very friendly, and only came by to take our order and bring us the check. Manager came by and said something to us, but we couldn't really hear what he said. Food- My friend and I both ordered the Steak and Noodle salad and it was pretty good. We did have to ask for basil as I think they forgot to add it. I also believe they made the salad as one dish and split it as I had all the arugula and she had all the mangos. The steak was a bit on the chewy side and could have been tenderized a bit and the pieces about half the size and more noodles. I was expecting more noodles. I also had oysters- they were fresh and delish! The plating was nice and chilled, and the price was reasonable. I would go back for the oysters. I can make the salad myself. read more

Oh I wanted to love this place so much! I watched it coming to life over the last few months and was so excited to try it! So why the one star? Well... Tucson isn't exactly full of sub-par restaurants. But this was sub-par; at best. I ordered the 8oz filet. I ordered it medium rare. If came out well done; I asked for a side of asparagus and was given aside of zucchini and peppers. The mashed potatoes were honestly embarrassingly bad. Dry, sad, no seasoning. This place clearly hasn't heard of salt. And the martini I ordered tasted like nothing in the front; and all bad in the back. The service was all pretty horrible. Barely checking on us. No steak knife. My friends ordered the ribs and cited they were "okay." And my other friend had pasta with steak. Also cited it was just "fine." Also it is SO loud. I know so many reviews cite this but I cannot stress to you enough how bad it is. Overall if this space is going to survive-- major changes will have to be made in all areas. Went to this restaurant for the first time. It just opened 3 days ago. I sat at the bar for a drink. It is in a small strip shopping center next to while foods. The drink menu was solid and robust. The food menu had a lot to be desired for the prices. I suspect it will improve with time on the spring menu. It is a great upscale spot for drinks and I think food - but I did not try any. First visit was for dinner with friends. I arrived first and was seated. Friends were 10 minutes late. No service while waiting - no water, no offer of a beverage. (Too bad I would've had two glasses of wine rather than just the one with dinner.) Spoiler, wine was the best part of the meal. Two of us ordered the steaks and one the pasta. One steak was ordered rare the other medium rare. The rare was more cooked than the medium rare. However, the steak was good but the potatoes unappealing. Pasta was fine. The acoustics are horrible - so loud we had to raise our voices to communicate across the table. The wooden chairs are unbelievably uncomfortable, hitting awkwardly against your thighs (unless you're 6' tall) until you want to scream. Service was just barely mediocre. Long laps of time between check-in's and service, no insight to the wine or food offerings. Made a repeat visit a week later and sat at the bar. Still unbelievably loud. Ordered a burger, medium (remembering the tenancy of the state to be undercooked). The burger came out dry and overdone. Literally fell apart on the plate from dryness. French fries were inedible - cold, hard, and unseasoned. Bartender rarely checked in on me. Again, wine was the best part of the meal. I went across the street to the Red Garter a day later for a burger that was 2x as good and cheaper. And somehow the acoustics of the dive bar was still better. Not sure if I'll give Miramonte a third chance or not. I certainly can't recommend it to friends. read more

Oh, Miramonte. Where do I even start? My fiancé ordered the pan-seared salmon, and what arrived was 100% white fish -- not pink, not flaky salmon, just a pale imposter. We pointed it out, and the waitress said "yeah, I thought it looked funny", and took it back to the kitchen. The chef's response? "Oh no, that's salmon -- it's just really pale." Really pale?! That wasn't salmon; that was white fish in witness protection. The level of gaslighting here could power the Tucson Electric grid. Then Manager Ryan came over -- and instead of fixing it, he doubled down on the lie. No apology. No offer to remake it. Just smug insistence that we were wrong. For a so-called "gourmet restaurant," this was shameful. Whether they ran out of salmon or hoped no one would notice, it's dishonest and insulting. We left hungry, irritated, and amazed that anyone thought this was acceptable. Tucson has too many great places to eat to waste your money here.
