We came all the way from downtown La to try something new and had unfriendly bartenders who gave us the 'can't be bothered or unfriendly look'. Not one smile. but then I saw they were super 'kiss butt' to regulars. (so I knew they actually could muster a smile) Note: customers watch these things. 1 bartender scowled at my friend's request for a certain tequila. The other gave me a drink w all ice and no lime (had to ask repeatedly for limes) when I asked if I could take some ice out bc I could barely drink it he pointed to the trash can. What the heck? if I want $20+ drinks, I'll just stay in downtown La and be treated authentically and fabulously. This place and people need to get over themselves! Lose the ego. This is the hottest new restaurant in Los Angeles! We stopped by on a Friday evening for dinner. The vibe was sexy, trendy, and mysterious. Ideal for date night, a celebration, or get together with friends. If you want to beat the crowd, come before 6pm. It got super busy by 7pm. You walk up a staircase into a beautiful venue full of trees with a large tree in the middle of the whole restaurant! The restaurant has an open roof creating a beautiful space to look into the sky but it's warm and cozy from all the heater lamps around. They have a bar area right in front of the entrance and another bar down the stairs. There are tables all around the main and lower level. Customer service was top notch. We were immediately greeted after being seated and our server regularly checked in on us. The food and drinks came out within a reasonable time. The food was delicious! We got to try a variety of items including their salsa and tostadas, churros, fried chicken taco, steak tlayuda, and el Chicano burger. The food was fresh, tasty, and cooked to perfection. We ate everything on the plate! Parking can be tricky, given it's Los Angeles and close to Griffith Observatory. There is free street parking in the surrounding residential areas but are hard to come by, a parking lot behind the restaurant for $7, or valet parking right in front. The meters on the Main Street are only for 1 hour until 8pm so not ideal. I would definitely come back! read more

The chilaquiles were okay, it tasted like red mole if you like that flavor profile. The churros weren't my favorite. Our party of six waited a long time to get our drinks and water. The table did not have the correct number of settings, which we had to wait for a while to get water, a plate and utensils. We also had three different waiters trying to sort out our order. We were all confused with the constant switch in waiters. Tried both tlayuda options, one with steak and one with scallops. The scallop version was refreshing and full of complex light herbal flavors and the steak was hearty with beans and cheese and spicier. Both were easy to share with two being enough that we both felt full. Also tried their house mezcal with a great smoky flavor, served with chapulines (crickets) and sea buckthorn. The drinks we tried were the house margarita arhat was refreshing but with more depth than typical with a salinity from sea bean. The la Fresa reminded me of michelada and was a heavy spicy drink. June 17, 2023 visit: This restaurant is incredibly cool! Let me start with the fact that the entrance is incredibly nondescript, so you may miss it when trying to find it. Look for the beautiful red door by the corner of the front of the building, it may seem out of place. Then you will proceeded up a very tall set of stairs, which opens up into the mouth of the restaurant. I love that there are multiple levels which give the ambience a lot of texture and depth. It's also indoor/outdoor, which is a favorite duality of mine as it enables so many various experiences, especially when the weather is amazing! Now for the food, it's phenomenal! We tried so many different dishes, and not once where we let down. We even duplicated some orders because it was so good. How often do you do that in one sitting?!? Our server, I believe his name is Ryan (or Brian - tall and handsome), was the right amount of attentiveness, and made so many incredible recommendations which I believe is why our experience was off the charts. This is a must experience and highly recommend sitting upstairs for your first time. It gives you the ability to really soak in the indoor nature embellished ambience.
