Can't say enough good things about this place! We moved into the neighborhood right before the signs went up and had to wait very patiently, so worth it. We split the mushroom quesadillas and ceviche to start. Quesadillas were amazing, and the ceviche was great for the Midwest. My Husband and I ordered carry out dinner this evening again from Mis Moles. Each time we've tried this restaurant has been terrific! Food is extremely delicious, the portion sizes are great, the prices are very reasonable for the quality! Chef Geno has personally dialed us each time to let us know when our order was ready for pick up. GM Branco sent my Husband out the door with a shot and a margarita on the house to accompany dinner tonight as a thanks for our loyal business. I never ask for mole at a restaurant because it never approximates the authentic flavor profiles that I'm used to tasting in family meals. This is far from true at Mis Moles. Chef Geno Bahena truly is the "King of Mole." To add to the authenticity, the tortillas are handmade and just delicious. Desserts were completely on point, too. In terms of the atmosphere, we were treated like family. The waitstaff was super welcoming and very accommodating. just now Amazing service and food! Staff members and the owner were hospitable and accommodating. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of Romanian Merlot. As an app we enjoyed Sopes Surtidos "Xilonen" and for dinner we had Callos de Hacha en Pipian and Nopales Asados con Mariscos Al Chipotle. What I found so memorable about the place was the owner's warmth! I was so amused by his Romanian "holy water" which definitely wasn't what I expected but was pleasantly surprised! What a great time. It was not only the superb moles, but the fun, festive atmosphere that will bring us back. Our group of 4 was promptly seated in an attractive, but not stuffy, dining room. The rack of lamb with Mole Negro was divine. So were the pork chops accompanied by an amazing Pasilla-honey sauce. Our two friends chose chicken breast, one with Mole Verde and the other with Mole Rojo. Both were top notch. The service was terrific. The staff was welcoming, informative, and at the same time fun. I am engorged as I write this. This place is spectacular - it was clearly the best mole I have ever had. The chef brought us several to sample, explained the history and making of the moles which have up to 40 ingredients. He had a true passion and it showed in the food. Started off with a spectacular ceviche and then had an incredible smoked pork dish with a red mole that was fantastic, a friend had a darker brown mole and lamb dish that was also stellar. I would rate this place as having the best Mole in chicago and probably some of the best Mexican food.. Place used by amazing. Had some of the best mole I've ever had. New owners completely ruined it. Menu is not the same. The live music events they now hold don't add to experience either. The performers are so awful and loud that it's still causing me to have pain in my right ear even 24 hours later. My partner took me here for a surprise celebration with friends, and it was a glorious return to irl dining out. Branko, the manager, made it seem like I was homecoming with rambunctious cousins, and celebrated my birthday with shots all around. The food was phenomenal (got the green mole chicken dish and it was exquisite), the servers were fantastic, the lime margarita was strong and the patio was perfect for a summer's eve. I came across this perfectly rated restaurant on Yelp. We arrived about an hour to close was surprised to see that there was only one other party of two on a Saturday night. We were immediately greeted by the staff and seated. Along with the the chips and salsa, we were served a small sampler with the tree types of mole, all delicious in their own way. I started out with a classic margarita, it was very good! For the entree I opted for the enchiladas with the mole verde, with chicken tinga. The spice level I would put at a 7/10. There was definitely some heat but in my personal opinion was perfect and not overpowering. It was on the best plates of enchiladas I have ever had! I wish I had left room for dessert because all the options sounded delicious. They also offer brunch, which we were told goes from 12-2pm. I will definitely be back for that as well. read more

Finally tried it today! Lots of good reviews on Facebook, so my husband and I stopped in about 6:30 for dinner. Staff attending today was 1 bartender/ owner? And one waitress, with one person in the kitchen. Friday night, and they were rushing to attend every table. Place also has out door seating which had 3 tables filled. Bottom line very short staffed. The bartender took our order, getting the steak incorrectly for my husband, and proceeded to blame me for it?! Middle rare, was requested, rare was served. No biggie came back perfect! I had the seafood rice and it was delicious! Definitely a dish to have! The margaritas were excellent! Service is the area of improvement, bartender/ owner said out loud to a nearby table" sorry your card didn't go thru for the bill" something which should be discussed as privately as possible when that occurs. We were embarrassed for that table! He was trying, giving out his " holy water" a shot, just not realizing how that could come off as offensive to some people. Lots of " I love you" to the guest as they leave being shouted out..... how about a good old fashioned " that you so much for stopping in, look forward to seeing you again " would have been better. Place could use some back ground music to help set the ambience, as the location is very pretty. Mis Moles is one of the best experiences in high-end Mexican cuisine I've had outside of Mexico. It is a hidden gem not to be missed. Chef Geno Bahena (who previously worked at Frontera Grill and Topolobampo) personally guided our table through the mole tasting plate and the rest of the menu. You will not find better mole in Chicago, and every dish we ordered was perfect. For appetizers, we had Sopes Surtidos Xilonen and Quesadillas de Hongos -- both beautifully prepared and delicious. Entrees were uniformly excellent: Mole Verde with Duck; Mole Negro with Rack of Lamb; Cochinita Pibil; and Callos de Hacha en Xikil Pak (scallops). Don't skip the deserts. We had Tamal de Chocolate, Natillas Classicos, and Chocolate Flan cake. The restaurant's owner ("Mr. Branko") closed the night by visiting every table with a round of complimentary drinks. read more
