YUM!!! We came here on a weeknight with our family of 10 (two small children included) and the ladies were so nice! There were what seemed like one lady to be working the kitchen and one lady working the restaurant taking orders/making drinks. They both did such a wonderful job taking care of us and we did not feel like our service was slow and all our orders were correct! Drinks: the drinks are definitely tequila forward. Nothing fancy about the tequila that is used but I personally like the borracha as my favorite drink. Food: GET A MOLE DISH. The mole is not spicy but it just had such a great deep flavor to it. I opted to get corn tortillas, which I don't normally do, but I am so happy that I did because the corn tortillas were thicker so that they can soak up the mole sauce. Dessert: all the desserts are so yummy. You cannot go wrong. The Choco-flan was my favorite. Overall vibe: super cute decor on the inside and has a family owned restaurant vibe! So welcoming

Six of us came here on Sunday at 6 pm to celebrate my birthday. The place was empty, we had the whole place for ourselves, and that was wonderful for us!! The service was fantastic and the food was excellent. Chips are crisp, thin, and delectable slightly earthy, with corn flavor with subtle spices, served with different moles. I had the enchiladas mole rojo which shared with someone in our group who ordered the enchiladas pipian. Both are excellent choices, I prefer Mole Rojo, and I like bold flavors. Everybody in our group was very pleased with our appetizers and shared ceviche and chorizo queso fundido. Both were plenty for our party of 6. Everyone was happy with their dinner - CAZUELITA DE CARNES, CHILES RELLENOS, Mole Rojo Beef - For the birthday candle, I tried the chocolate tamale with ice cream. Creative, and different, I enjoyed it, and will try something different next time. The combination of corn masa and chocolate was a bit off for me. I don't know why the place was empty, because the food was really good, perhaps because it was Sunday,

We came here on for our anniversary and it was wonderful! We made reservations but they had plenty of space on a Tuesday evening and we sat outside which was very nice. First they bring you chips with salsa and different moles to try which is so much fun and you also get to figure out which mole you would like with your main. My favorite was the red mole so I got chicken enchiladas with that kind and they were delicious! My husband liked the green mole and got that for his chicken dish. I also liked the green mole and the salsas but the other moles were not for me. The beans were underwhelming in these dishes. We also ordered guacamole and drinks which were all good. I got a margarita and my husband got a michelada. We recommended this place to my parents who didn't like it as much. My dad got the Al pastor and was disappointed but I think he may have ordered the wrong thing.

Mis Moles is an Avondale treasure! From the start, they provide samples of the three moles they offer to help you decide which is your fave. The drink menu has it all, and the service is top notch. Thank you for all that you do, Mis Moles staff!

This place is the best! Great environment, location, the establishment itself is extremely well kept, nicely decorated and extremely clean. The staff was very friendly and attentive, checked in on us frequently to make sure we didn't need anything. They served us chips and 5 different types of dipping sauces - the food was delicious. Will definitely return with family members or friends.

I was craving mole, and searched best mole in Chicago, Mis Moles came up so we decided to give it a try. Very authentic and they let you sample the moles with some chips before you order. Great homemade chips, homemade corn tortillas, moles were all delicious. I orders the mole verde which was very flavorful and my boyfriend ordered the cochinita pibul. We also ordered the ceviche. Good service and cute little spot.

TL;DR- go and try their moles! I am typically not a fan of moles but these were so good and I support this local family business! Saw this place listed as best margarita in Illinois from a blog by Yelp. We were up for some margarita on National Margarita Day at another place but made last minute changes to come here after seeing the list. Checked out biz on Yelp and wasn't sure if I can trust the 5 star rating since it's so rare. I had some doubts in my head but after dining here, I give an honest 5 star myself! Drinks- regular margarita $10 I wouldn't necessarily say they're the best I've ever had, but they were tasty. I ended up drinking 3 since I was having a good time! Passion fruit margarita $12 it was too sweet for me so I ordered regular thereafter Service- owner was there alone on the floor since I went fairly early. I can hear her passion with her moles and she took care of us well. Later in the night, her daughter came to help out. They were very friendly and love the pride they have of their own store. I support this family business! Food- chips & salsa (complimentary) i prefer my chips thin so these were perfect. We were served with regular green verde sauce on the side (which I typically love but we didn't even touch it here because the others were so much better!). On a platter of red mole, green mole, and mole. Let me tell you, I'm typically not a fan of mole and would not order it. But these moles were so flavorful. Enchiladas- I wanted to try enchiladas and she even recommended for me to try it with green mole sauce and it was so good! It had an unexpected kick to it but I'd definitely order again. Quesabirria- my friend ordered it and I want to try it next time.

I have been wanting to come here for a very long time now, but for some reason I was never able to squeeze this place is. Part of the reason maybe because my wife isn't into Mole that much. So I guess I mainly came to splurge myself. Parking was tough to find so I got worried that the place would be packed, but unfortunately for them; it was a quiet night for them, and fortunately for us, we were able to get seated right away. We started off with their their Sopes Surtidos "Xilonen" appetizer. Once we received these, this place started reminding me so much of Sol de Mexico in Belmont Cragin. And now I know why there is so much resemblance. Sol de Mexico is run by Chef Genos mother. Chef Geno of course worked at Frontera Grill and Topolobampo with Rick Bayless, and his mother was the Bayless nanny. We received 4 little sopes each with a different topping. One was woodland mushrooms with epazote. I was hesitant in even trying these because I've never cared for mushrooms but damn these were so good. The others came with chicken in red mole, Fried sweet plantains covered in sour cream and the other with chorizo and black beans. All where phenomenal and the sope was cooked perfectly. My wife ordered their sopa Azteca. A dark broth with chile pasilla covered in tortilla strips and came with chicken, avocados and cheese. I prefer the more red clearer version of tortilla soup style over this, but it was still tasty. They had four different moles to choose from. I've always been more of a spicy mole guy, so I opted for their mole nego, but I kind of regretted it afterwards because this is the version my mom makes, and I need to start exploring other sweeter moles. I did enjoy the hell out of this mole thought. It was served with grilled chicken and then mole negro and rice and served with warm homemade tortillas. The mole was very flavorful and completed the chicken and rice perfectly. And then you add some homemade tortillas and damn baby! Mexican comfort food at its finest. They do however only give you three tortillas which I thought was weird, but If you need more just ask, and you'll get 3 more warm tortillas in no time. I hope their other moles taste just as good as this one. Their customer service was also fantastic. Our sever was very welcoming and personable. Made us feel right at home and even made us feel good about our food choices. My only complaints, which I won't knock them down for; is their music selection. Went I go to a higher end Mexican restaurant, I want to here some Mexican classics, some mariachi or some banda. But instead they played salsa or merengue. Play some Mexican classics please! My other complaint is that in their restaurant name on the menu, they're considering themselves a tequila and mezcal bar, but their offerings isn't exciting. Very boring simple stuff that I have at home and have no interest buying at a restaurant. I'll be back for the food though!

My husband and I have eaten at this restaurant several times but today's dining experience was inconsistent with previous ones. Although the food was highly enjoyable, the service was very disappointing and fell short! Upon preparing to pay our bill, we notified our waiter about a promotional discount and wanted to apply it to our check. As you can see from the photo, the promotional code is clearly applicable & valid for Mis Mole and was purchased via Discounts Dining today. Unfortunately, we were told by waiter that the owner (who didn't even come out to address the matter personally) would not honor the discount--how unprofessional & a lack of credibility. A great product is important, however, if Service is compromised, then the best product means nothing! This compromise has caused my husband & I to reevaluate this business. At the very least, restaurant owner could have addressed the matter personally (as opposed to hiding behind the employee). Not doing the right thing has cost this once deemed a stellar restaurant, one who lacks integrity and honor! Moreover, we will not return here nor will those whom we referred. Profit over people is never the answer!

In town for a visit, and my son brought us here. It's a cute place, that's very colorful. Food is full of flavor and good quality. Presentation is also very nice. I thought portions were small for the price, and that's why I gave it 4 stars as opposed to 5. Service was also very good, even though there was only one server for a relatively full restaurant. All this said, I would definitely return for another meal. read more

My brother and I had a fantastic dinner at Mis Moles tonight. We started with the albondigas served in a delicious creamy red sauce with the MOST divine, homemade corn tortillas. We both ordered mole entrees for our main courses (verde and negro)...we joked with our incredibly friendly and attentive server how I may buy the moles, take them home and try to pass it off as though I brilliantly pulled together sauces with such complex flavors and aromas. Both were outstanding. We also loved our choco-flan. The owner is a charmer. Everyone took great care of us. Hats off to the chef and entire Mis Moles team. It was pretty basic straightforward Mexican. Had chicken mole and a steak dish. My chicken was ok my friend didn't like the steak which was a little on the stingy side. They didn't have a bartender guess it was too early so we had premade margaritas which were ok. They have outside seating and it's nice inside. I used to go here when it was little Bucharest. We've been wondering about this new restaurant in our neighborhood ever since they opened and WHAT A DELIGHTFUL SPOT! Full disclosure, we only went in because our favorite margaritas place was closed but we stumbled in for dinner and was so pleasantly surprised. I dont know too much about moles and everytime I've tried, I either liked it fine or was disappointed. But since this establishment was named after this sauce, we asked about it. The owner was so kind to provide a small tasting plate to try all three: Rojo, negro, and Verde. All absolutely delicious and interesting. It was hard to choose. I got the lamb shanks with Rojo and my husband got the duck breasts with negro. So good. Absolutely will be back and will bring friends. (The margaritas were also delicious.) Good price for a stellar meal. Please visit because it is such a charming, inviting restaurant where the owners and chef truly care about the quality of their food. I always drive by this restaurant on work and thought it looked so quaint so finally decided to give it a try and oh boy was it worth it! Friendly service give the feeling of family and a relaxed atmosphere. Bonus-on the night I came in there was a live guitarist for the evening. The food and drinks were amazing, good portions, and very well priced. I ordered the tampiquena! My steak was tender, cooked perfectly and delicious! They give you a sampling of the moles to try at the start which was fun to taste and choose! I will most absolutely return! 5/5! read more

Wow! I feel like I stepped into an episode of "Parts Unknown" you absolutely have not lived until you've tried their food. Tender , juicy , flavorful arrachera. The cochinita pibil was to die for. Tender spicy, flavorful, lean but not dry. And the ultimate highlight birria tacos are succulent spicy heaven. The mole's outstanding. The first mole I've ever liked , let alone eating and loving all three . The handmade corn tortillas were soft pillows of deliciousness. 5 stars was a no brainer. Go to this place . Sweet little authentic traditional Mexican restaurant tucked on Elston in Avondale Family & WOMAN owned biz, Blanca (owner) her mom & daughter Nicole were bustling around , shaking up FANTASTIC fresh fruit Marg's & serving up some of the best Molé sauces and delicious fresh hot homemade food I have had an a Mexican restaurant in a long time! Service was great, restaurant was medium size, nice & nothing fancy clean and bright. But it was Blanca's warm greeting and serving us fantastic margaritas and really delicious food at the bar that will keep us coming back! Happy to see them doing so well although we arrived @ 8 on a Friday evening & no wait. Great neighborhood addition to fun Avondale! read more

This place has super good food and great drinks but the service is hit or miss ! Nice place if you want to go out of the typical taco place. My big gripe is that there is no changing table ! I had to change my daughter on a bench outside of the bathroom . I'd love to return but unfortunately I'll know if I have my kids I cannot . read more

Place was great. I was craving steak and Mexican food and their Carne Asada totally hit the spot. The wife had the Vegetarian Enchiladas which she enjoyed as well. Service was great. Maybe just a little pricey for some of the entrees but otherwise outstanding. Definitely worth another visit soon. read more

Super delicious food! Good portions! Friendly staff! I came here for a date with my hubby and it was worth the trip! I had skirt steak dinner and it was so good. Husband has been trying to find good cochinita pebil for years but no restaurants has offered it until now. He was so happy, and he enjoyed the dish. It was all well cooked. Moreover, the waiter brought us chips with various kinds of salsas and moles for us to sample. I loved the green salsa the best! Compliments to the restaurant and their new management! read more

This place is fantastic! Had the Uchepos app (2 to an order) I wanted to order a few more, so delicious, not sure what I was expecting but it was definitely more than that. Then we ordered the lamb in red mole... almost wanted to lick the plate after running out of the fresh made tortillas and the Arroz a la Tumbada .... omg! the flavors are well balanced and super filling. This place was sensational. We were immediately greeted by what - I think was - the owner. He was friendly and warm and ushered us to our table and checked on us and joked with us throughout our meal. My husband and I ordered the Queso Frito appetizer. It was fantastic (how can you go wrong with cheese). Came with homemade warm tortillas, and the salsa that's served with it was the perfect salsa yin, to the creamy spicy yang of the chorizo cheese. For our meals we ordered the mole verde with chicken, and mole negro with smoked pork chop (see photos I've uploaded with this review). Verde mole was light and delicious. I want to try it with seafood next time. My husbands negro mole was Smokey and complex and easily the best mole either of us have ever had. My margarita was strong and tasty, beers were cold and prompt, their restaurant was very clean, staff was attentive and pleasant, and the ambiance of the place was very enjoyable. There were so many other items on the menu I want to try, and with how wonderful our first visit was I have no doubts we will be back. I would love to dine al fresco when it gets warmer. A random find from wandering around off Addison when the southbound Blue line train stopped operating at the Addison stop. They were able to customize margaritas which tasted yummy. Great food. Loved mole samplers came with chips. Seafood perfectly cooked in broth. Would recommend! read more

Had a absolutely horrible experience with this restaurant. The food we picked up was congealed, greasy and disgusting. Plus,, part of the order was missing. The owner, when informed of the issue, was rude and condescending. Ruined our evening before flying home to California. I'd rather have Taco Bell. Horrid! read more

This restaurant is fantastic!!! My friend and I both got the Passionfruit Margaritas to start. A perfect mix of sweetness and tartness. For an appetizer we ordered the Ceviche, which was extremely flavorful and refreshing. Perfect for a hot day in Chicago! For our entrees we ordered the Mole Verde with Shrimp. INCREDIBLE! I had never seen Mole Verde before and was excited to try it. Absolutely perfect. The menu here offers up dishes that I don't seen often around the city. I highly recommend it, and cannot wait to return. The service is exceptional, as well. read more

Best fajitas I've ever had in any state!!! quality steak, delicious sauce, plus all the sauces and variety they give you to use on your fajitas. The chips were absolutely fresh and tasty. Nothing plain or common about them. A nice quiet patio with Mexican music playing in the shade. Very appreciated... our little Doug Bristol got to join us. It was very welcome to here with a water bowl. we split an incredible fajita with all sides added to it, for what it cost for me to make a meal at home. read more

Wonderful food! The homemade tortillas are the best I've ever had, and I love that they let you sample their mole flavors before ordering. Their cocinita pibil is delicious also. The service can be slow sometimes but they are so nice and helpful. Just don't go when you're in a hurry. read more

I've never met a more welcoming manager than Branko at Mis Moles. I was their first customer since they reopened to 25% capacity and it was really a special and unique experience that made the excellent food by chef Geno Bahena that much better. I had the mole manchamanteles con pollo, sopes for an appetizer, and the tamal de chocolate for dessert. Everything was perfect. Satisfyingly taditional but with creative spins that make it worth the trip to taste. Great wine selection and strong turkish coffee to go with it too! read more

Wow! We are so fortunate that Chef Geno Baheno has chosen our neighborhood to open his latest restaurant. And how courageous he is to do so during the pandemic when so many restaurants are closing. Since opening in May (I believe) we have ordered take-out twice and have been extremely impressed with the flavors, quality, and presentation--this is 4-star Mexican with a high-end touch. Last weekend, we ordered the Carne Asada. The steak was tender, flavorful and cooked to perfection and the accompaniments of refried beans, plantains, and guacamole were so good, I would order a side of each the next time I visit. The complimentary green salsa and house made, fresh tortillas were great. Chef Geno's specialty is Mole and he offers a different one each day of the week. The staff all had on masks both times I picked up food and there were socially distanced parties on the small patio. Not only do I want to support local businesses, but I expect great food at a fair price. THIS IS THE PLACE! read more

Let me first say that I am so glad that we have this new restaurant walking distance from home. I feel it is now part of the community. My immediate family and I celebrated my birthday here and we felt very safe and the food was delicious. The chef was very nice and accommodating and spaced us out very comfortably. A friend and I visited for the first time a couple of weeks ago. The food was outstanding. The owner/chef came to our table with salsa and different mole sauces. They were amazing. I really thought that this place had to be a little overhyped and the dinner I would order would be good but not as great as other people said. I WAS WRONG. Everything we ordered was A++ for sure. We ordered the ceviche which was just really well done. I am not a huge olive fan and anybody that can use them in a dish I love is doing something right. We ordered three dishes Pollo en Cacahuatado, Mole Manchamanteles Pork Chop, Mole Negro - Duck. All of them were outstanding with the Manchamanteles being my favorite and the Pollo being my wifes. Even the rice and beans were on another level. We ordered enough for leftovers, like we usually do, and it was almost as good the next day. We finished with a couple of desserts and all I can say is that everyone should order the Pastelito de Membrilla. What a really unique dessert. My wife has the sweet tooth in the house and she could not stop talking about it. This place is automatically at the top of local places we will be ordering from in the future. read more

One of the greatest things about the Chicago food scene is you can stumble on an out-of-the-way place and be completely blown away. Such was the case with Mis Moles. The outdoor space was on the corner leading to a charming city neighborhood, shady and quaint. The service staff was friendly and attentive -- and the food A M A Z I N G! The best mole in the city, hands down! But that wasn't the best part of our visit, the most memorable and enjoyable part was the friendly and enthusiastic encounter with the owner. A man who clearly loves what he does and it shows. He made sure every patron and party felt welcome even while maintaining social distancing. He is a man who brings a lot of love to his restaurant and he's quick to let everyone know he loves having them there. Great tasting food! Exceptional service by Francisco and nice local vibe. We had the queso fundido with mushrooms. I recommend it! The wait staff provided plenty of hot tortillas to enjoy every bite! The passion fruit margaritas were super tasty and I wish I had take. A picture of the beautiful color, but trust the flavor was there, and the booze! For my main I was unsure and our server Francisco offered a taste of the moles they had on deck that night! All three were amazing but I went with the mole negro with my choice protein of chicken. Only thing I wish was that it would have been bone in chicken not just boneless breast but it was cooked perfectly and the mole was amazing! Definitely going back for dessert and more margaritas, perhaps I'll try the brunch next! Please go and support them! I went with a small group of family and friends last Saturday and had a great time. We ate on the patio, which was lovely. I'm from the North suburbs, but my sister is right around the corner from this place (although honestly, it's so good, it's worth the trip down, even without my sister). We were disappointed when the Little Bucharest, the previous resident of this location, closed, but thrilled when we discovered that the new restaurant going in was a mole place with the chef from a more distant and therefore less visited prior love, Ixcapuzalco. And as a bonus, the host is the former owner of Little Bucharest! We will certainly be frequenting this place now. There were four of us, and everything we had was beautiful and delicious. The house margarita was fantastic. I think I'd forgotten how good a margarita with fresh lime juice can be (and fresh tamales).The price and ambiance are in the sweet spot of not so expensive/fancy that you can't justify on a weeknight when you're splurging a little, but not so inexpensive/simple that you look like you are cheeping out on a date with your significant other or friends and family. The margaritas were $10, appetizers between $8 and $10. Entrees were between $17 at the low end and $27 at the high end and included sides chosen to enhance the main dish. I strongly recommend giving this place a try. We plan to add it to our regular restaurant rotation. read more

Came here with my family for Father's Day and honestly did not know what to expect, but overall turned out wonderful. Right away, our charming hostess made us feel very welcomed and walked us to our table. Once we sat down, we were greeted and served by Leo who was very attentive throughout our entire stay. He really knew how to make our outdoor dining experience special. I truly appreciated having a bilingual server since it allowed my parents to order for themselves for a change. They were able to chat about food recommendations which turned out to be delicious. The carne asada and shrimp mole were very rich in flavor and the plate presentation was gorgeous. I think having such a friendly and attentive server like Leo truly makes you want to revisit such restaurant. My parents are already talking about coming again and bringing other family members. The restaurant had a violinist which was adorable. I'm assuming it was specific for the event. The food was really good. I was surprised on how much I enjoyed the mole since I consider myself a mole connoisseur And the drinks were fantastic! I did not give it 5 stars simply because there is always room for improvement. Tried Mis Moles for the first time yesterday - ate on the patio under the glow of a cozy heater. Everything was so delicious! margaritas were next level good and the queso fundito got us warmed up for more. We had the pork chops and the enchiladas - the sauces, spices and flavor were crave worthy - will be going back again & again or ordering in. The chef, Geno, came out several times to check on us and brought us a complimentary passion fruit margarita so we could experience it! I wanted a hidden gem for date night in Chicago and Mis Moles hit the spot! The staff was very welcoming, especially Branko and Amber. Homemade hispanic food is one of my absolute favorites, so I knew I had to come here. Even with the pandemic, they were very clean, there was minimal seating and only pick up for food was available when we went. Everyone wore masks and it was very spaced out. I had a fun experience in this hidden gem in the Northside of Chicago. I'll definitely come back! read more

OMG !!!! The food is phenomenal!!!! The margaritas are tasty and of great quality liquor!!!! The service impeccable!!!! They are friendly, courteous and welcoming!!! They are welcoming to children, I have an 8 & 9 year old.....You will absolutely enjoy this place!!!! And I am a very picky person and particular with where I eat out.... Such a fun time and incredible food! The owner is hilarious and will make you feel just like family (just beware of the "Romanian f-ing holy water") - this place has a very fun atmosphere and the staff is wonderful. We had the mole verde and it was amazing - I'd literally drink the stuff. Also tried two of the other three mole sauces and they were delicious as well. Will definitely be back! read more

An incredible dining experience was had! The restaurant features an incredible atmosphere. The cleaning crew did a superb job in maintaining the place while decoration was nicely done too. Food was splendid and service was very good. Out of 4 dishes: mole verde, mole negro, tumbada, and tamal we tasted all were so good! My friends and I came here to celebrate a birthday, and it was a wonderful experience! My friend who lives in the neighborhood recommended we try it and it was a wonderful find! The staff is wonderful (Francisco our waiter was especially awesome)! Their moles sauces are amazing and we enjoyed every dish we tried including margaritas and dessert! Highly recommend! read more

I was recommended Mis Moles by a friend and it did not disappoint! The service was impeccable and the food was amazing. We got the crane asada and I have never seen a more tender piece of meat. Service, knowledge, and hospitality at its finest! My wife and I went on a date for drinks and appetizers at Mis Moles. We got the ceviche and margaritas. Both were outstanding. Our server, Leo was excellent and on point providing refills at exactly the right time. I cannot recommend this place enough. read more
