We made a last minute reservation for Misirizzi on a Friday evening. They accommodated us and let us sit outside even when our reservation had initially been made for indoors. The outdoor seating was cute and clean, classic for a NYC restaurant with the seating right in front of the sidewalk. We ordered an appetizer which was the zucchini parm. It was fantastic with just the right ratio of sauce, cheese, and zucchini. The price was reasonable for the portions and we enjoyed it. For dinner we each got a pasta dish. We enjoyed the food overall. The pesto dish was yummy and light but tasted a bit different than traditional pesto to us, lacked some flavor. The second dish was pasta with a mushroom sauce and it was delicious, creamy, and rich. Our issue was portion sizes for price. I understand it's the city but we would've paid a bit more to have a bit more. Considering there was no meat/protein in the dishes, we left hungry and later in the night got slices of pizza. The spicy salami and pecorino / cacio al tartufo cheeses had some heaven going on. Stuffed calamari wowed the table, and it could not have been more tender, after a slight grilling. The filling of almond slivers, shrimp, etc. were just wonderful. The tortellini ricotta and strascinati were the best we've ever had. Pasta made in house, and can't recall having better. I originally wasn't sure what type of cuisine they would serve based on the name Misirizzi. After taking a look at the menu it looks italian centric food. We came on one Saturday night and sat inside at a table with a partition. It wasn't the best spot to sit but it is what it is. They have a nice outdoor section but it was freezing out! This is a smaller restaurant but it has high ratings on Yelp so you know I had to check it out. As for the food I had the Gnocchi with tomato sauce and radiotore bolognese to start. These pasta's were good but the sauces were bland. The pasta also wasn't al dente which is never goor! We also tried the meatballs and again the sauce was bland. It needed a little more seasoning to bring out the flavor of the dishes. For my entree I had the chicken cutlet which was pretty much milanese style. It had arugula and some cheese on it. That was the best thing I had all night. It looked like one big flattened chicken tender. It was cooked well and flavor was spot on. My wife ordered the ricotta mousse for dessert and it wasn't anything to write home about. I got suckered into ordering the piadina with nutella because I love everything nutella. Unfortunately, the "piadina" was literally a store bought tortilla with nutella in it. It is not a homemade crepe like I thought. In the end, we had a fun time at Misirizzi but the food was underwhelming. They give you solid pours on the glasses of wine for the price ($13-$15). The service was also very good. Our waitress was great. I know some people won't agree, but I was upset there was no wifi. Love the super intimate environment of this Italian restaurant. It's definitely a tight space so I would not recommend for more than 2 people, but it's perfect for a date. My friend and I both got the Black Linguine pasta( see attached photo), which came with a generous heaping of seafood -- mostly shrimp and calamari. The red sauce was delicious and so was the seafood, although the pasta itself was a little harder than I would have liked. There was also flavored Prosecco spritz with a candied orange slice garnish for $8. Sweet at first, then bitter, but again, not a huge Prosecco fan, so come fast and judge for ourself, the dining experience is so worth it! Really loved the food here. The pastas are delicious. Everyone who works here is very nice and accomodating. Why I'm giving 3 stars is because I noticed while sitting at the bar I ordered a Negroni. It was made witb Crystal Palace gin and they charge $16. The espresso martini was pre batched so I have no idea what was in that and it was $17I have also seen them make aperol Spritz with J.Roget. , not prosecco. When you are charging this kind of price for a cocktail I think a better brand should be used. and if you want to use these cheaper brands for cocktails then the price should reflect that. read more

I dined at Misirizzi using a pre-fixe menu for my friend's birthday. We started with the arugula salad and crispy artichoke salad called carciofi fritti. Both salads were well put-together and a refreshing pairing for the pastas to come. The artichoke salad was probably my favorite dish of the night, as it was flavorful and satisfying while still being fresh and fairy light (for having a fried component). My pasta choice was the cappellacci burro e salvia, which is pasta dumplings with a spinach ricotta filling and a sage butter sauce. It was yummy, especially that butter sage sauce, but it seems to be a small portion for the normal price. I chose the vegetarian option for my main, which was the xucchini parmigiana (an app on the normal menu). It was a unique, flavorful dish, but was somewhat overwhelmed by the dense cheese on top, which was burnt on the edges. Overall, it was tasty but dense, so I think it'd be a good dish to order as an appetizer to share! I had the homemade tiramisu for dessert, which was a very good classic homemade tiramisu! We got the pear and blue cheese salad. It was a tad bitter, but tasted good with the creamy blue cheese and sweet pears. We didn't eat all of it because it wasn't the greatest salad. We also got the pasta. The pasta was really tasty, but way too salty. As we got to the bottom of the dish, the more salty the pasta became. We were in the area and were feeling like Italian so we found this place. There was only one other group who left pretty soon after we arrived so we had the whole back area to ourselves. Our waiter Augustine was incredibly nice, friendly and helpful. We ordered the meat and cheese platters. I particularly liked the Gorgonzola, parm, and this one cut of cheese that had black truffles in it. There was another type of cheese that sort of tasted like cream cheese. But the whole platter was phenomenal. I ordered the spaghetti with fresh tomato sauce and it was good though straight-forward and sort of a standard fare dish (nothing amazing or surprising). My companions ordered the lamb chops and the black linguini with shrimp and squid. But the service was excellent and accommodating. The atmosphere and decor are charming. Had this place tagged on my yelp for some time now to try out. Italian is by far one of my favorite cuisines. The ambiance here is super cozy, by the pictures it looks way bigger than the actual size, lol. But I liked the environment here, date night friendly. The staff here are amazing. Very engaging, knows what wine pairs best with what dishes and was checking on us frequently (I mean the place isn't that big so it's easy to do so but still, lol) Now, sadly, I was underwhelmed by the food. Ordered the black linguine, the special for the day which was Risotto with lobster and a side of Brussels sprouts. The linguine lacked flavor, sad about that, the risotto was just right and thankfully the lobster in it was cooked to perfection, the Brussels sprouts needed an additional kick. Misirizzi is a sweet little Italian spot in a railroad space in Noho. It opened about a year ago and I hadn't seen it pop up on any food press lists but the stellar Yelp reviews kept it on my radar. I booked a group dinner here in October and I couldn't have made a better choice for our party of 7. Though the restaurant was bustling when we showed up on a Friday night, we were led to our set table immediately, in the quieter space at the back. Decor is tastefully done throughout, and lighting is perfectly low. Felt spacious despite the small space. We started off with complimentary olives and bread-- both great, and the former high quality enough that an olive-hater in our party was a convert. We then assembled a cheese and meat plate, all satisfying and a good-sized portion for the money. We all did different pastas and they were all delicious. My wild boar ragu fell short of greatness, but that's never as good as you want it to be. The seafood was particularly good, including a scallop risotto special and a mixed seafood linguini. Prices are high but not punishing, with pastas in the low $20s. That and a few shared appetizers will make a meal; no need for secondis, though I'd give them a try next time. Service was super friendly and handled our large group like champs. The pacing is more relaxed and well-suited for a group dinner. The wine list is reasonably priced and includes some off-kilter Italian wines, especially from Sicily. Lovely experience that exceeded expectations for me. Wishing them the best. read more
