    Funghi di Prato ($12.50)

Made dinner reservations and we got an amazing family style table in this really amazing, rustic looking, happy vibes place! Noise levels were on the higher end and you had to speak loudly to hear the other person across the table! José our server was friendly, attentive, and quick with his service. This is a very kid friendly place - so highly recommended for families with kids. At the same time, a great place for date night too. An extremely well priced menu, with great options is how I'd describe their menu. Our order consisted of Crostini Misti ($10.50), Calamari ($18), Funghi di Prato ($12.50) - an excellent mushroom salad, for appetizers. Mains included a very tasty (and slightly cheesy) Spinach Gnocchi ($18.50), Penne Arrabiata ($16), and Tagliatelle al Ragu ($18). Kids thoroughly enjoyed their butter pasta which they polished within a few mins! Overall, we had a great time at this place, and I can clearly see Malatesta become our go-to Italian dinner place on weekdays or weekends. Great service, excellent quality food, and a very well priced menu! Can't ask for more.

A cozy Italian spot with indoor and outdoor seating. Food was solid and came out quick. Service was quite absent in the beginning despite there being only 2-3 tables but picked up later on with staffs consistently checking in on us. Overall a decent meal. Note that there is only wine and beer for alcohol option, no cocktail.

It was raining so unfortunately outdoor seating was closed. The indoor area was a little stuffy and crowded but the vibe reminded me of Italy. We got the grilled calamari for appetizer and the spinach gnocchi and tagliatelle ragu for entrees. We felt like all three dishes lacked a little salt and extra flavor but I really liked the pillowy texture of the homemade gnocchi and the chewiness of the homemade tagliatelle.

Holy gnocchi this was delicious. We went as a big group and ordered a bunch of wine, a few appetizers to share, and all nibbled on a few entrees and everything and everybody was absolutely incredible. It's a small place, very homey and comforting.

Ate every. single. ravioli on my plate. Panzanella salad with watermelon, mint, feta and croutons was a perfect starter, and the special that day. $10 glasses of house wine, great fresh pasta, what's not to love? It's a very small restaurant, so expect to possibly get grazed when you eat here. Servers are cute and very attentive, possibly because the restaurant is so small. Went on a nice day with a friend and sat near the window. Would sit outside next time, a plus is that the Hudson River is super close and you can take a nice leisure walk after.

The top was the Fettuccine special with calamari and red sauce and the bottom is their Ravioli Formaggio with pink sauce.

Our experience at Malatesta was amazing! Roberto, our server, gave great suggestions and was very friendly. We enjoyed the calming ambience of this quaint Italian restaurant and appreciated how quick the food service was. The pasta was great and we loved the unique specials too!

This was by far the best Italian food I have ever eaten. When I finished, I wanted seconds. The ambiance was so incredible! The servers were sweet. If you have not been you are missing out. Located in a cute part of town. Definitely somewhere I will revisit and highly recommend!

One of my favorite spots going all the way back to my college days, this corner spot in west village serves classic NYC Italian dishes. And it's super affordable! - Ravioli al formaggio - Penne arrabiata While not the largest portions, both the ravioli and penne are well seasoned and the pasta itself is cooked nicely. It's a little tight but I absolutely love the old school vibes here too. And don't sleep on their list of wines! Seating is definitely a little tight but that's expected for an older restaurant. It gets busy for weekend dinners so expect to wait but otherwise lunches are usually fine. Follow my Instagram and TikTok @thephotographerfoodie for more! :)

Phenomenal. One of my favorites in the west village. The freshest of pasta. Great wine and service. A intimate setting and I will be back. I'm getting hungry just thinking of the restaurant

It was good! Not a lot of food but the price reflects that. Very good for small bites to share and the drinks are very reasonably priced

Walked in around 5:30 on a Sunday and was able to get a great table inside by the open windows. The interior is cozy and there's a great atmosphere. It wasn't busy yet so service was quick and smooth. The ragu was great, definitely one of the better ones I've had!

Saw this place only has 4.1 and immediately went to write a 5 star review because that is what this place deserves. I have been several times and have never been disappointed. Food is fantastic and price point unbeatable. You don't have to play the resy games and can usually walk in especially on a weeknight. Pasta is made in house. Wine is CHEAP. Just obsessed. Going for my 28th this week and cannot wait

Great dinner spot with delicious food and affordable prices! No reservations here, but my friend and I were seated immediately. The hosts and wait staff were friendly, and the bussers were extremely attentive in making sure our dining experience was clean! Low lighting. Small space and a bit of a squeeze, but worth it for the food and service. I got the Spinach Gnocchi and would definitely recommend. The sauce was flavorful, as was the gnocchi, which had a great texture. Was perfectly cooked. Will definitely be coming back here!

The food here was exceptional and well priced. They had very healthy options (rare for an Italian restaurant). I can't wait to go back.

This means those dishes aren't truly gluten free for people with celiac disease or anyone who has to avoid gluten. When I pointed that out to my server, he just gave me a blank stare. I tried to explain why labeling those items as gluten free is misleading, but he seemed completely disinterested, even annoyed, dismissed what I was saying, and simply responded that the pasta is gluten free. I acknowledged that the server doesn't write the menu, but absolutely zero customer service skills. The service overall was lacking. Aside from taking our order, no one checked on us or came back to see if we needed anything. Our server was just hanging out chatting up the hostess. We had to request the bill from the manager & paid at the hostess stand. Before paying, I spoke with the manager and explained what had occured. He was more professional than the server, but he was still dismissive of my concerns and of the service we received. Management seemed happy enough to promote the "option". The food was okay, definitely not enough to make up for the poor service and handling of a serious dietary issue. Needless to say I will not be returning.
