It's about time Santa Rosa got a ramen restaurant! Now we don't have to make the trek to SF (...or Sebastopol) for a delicious bowl of noodles. I came to Miso Good Ramen on a Friday evening and it was quite busy. After waiting a few minutes, we were seated downstairs. The new owners have decorated the place quite nicely -- it looks unrecognizable from Torch of India, the previous restaurant that occupied this location. The new space is much more bright and open, they utilize the upstairs area, and I loved the cute wall of plants. I ordered the Tokyo Shoyu Chasu Pork ramen and it was delicious. The serving size was plentiful, the broth was flavorful, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The waiter offered to make it spicy, which added a great flavor, but this was an undisclosed 50 cent up-charge. Normally this wouldn't seem like a big deal, but when a bowl of ramen already costs $13, it seems like the least they could do is add some chili paste free of charge. That's my main criticism of ramen in Sonoma County -- why so expensive?! You can get even better ramen in SF or Sac for under $10. Also, I dearly missed Tonkotsu ramen on this menu. A deservingly crowded date restaurant in Santa Rosa! Came in around 8pm on a Saturday night, and opted for bar seating to avoid the line. The PROS: - The ramen stood out. We've been to our fair share of top ramen places in the bay area, and this one was pretty good! Definitely add in the bamboo shoots. - Clean, fun date-night ambiance - You're in walking distance of other fun shops/bars in the area. Pretty ideal for walking around with your friends/date after dinner. The MEH: - I would not recommend any of their rolls. Sorry. A bit of a roll snob here, and have found both the rolls we ordered here to be dripping with sauce, which overpowered all of the ingredients in the rolls. - Depending on who made your rolls/sashimi, it would look different lol. Please try to standardize this in the future, especially for the people sitting at the bar... because we see and we judge O______O. I love this place. A very nice addition to the Santa Rosa scene in that it doesn't try to be/act/look pretentious or something that it isn't. The food is wonderful and the service is good as well. My friends and I went there on a cold drizzling day and we all had plans to order some type of ramen, however when I got there I called an audible and ordered the BBQ pork rice bowl with and extra side of Kimchee. We stumbled upon this cozy little restaurant because we were craving ramen. They seated us under a heat lamp on their quaint patio. It was so warm and perfect. Spicy paitan noodle soup was tasty. Protein in the broth was just a tablespoon of ground pork. At $14 I'm not convinced that this glorified, upper scale "cup of noodles" is a bargain. I've had ramen in many, many shops around the world. I've downed plenty of ordinary bowls of inexpensive yet satisfying soup. Even in way overpriced Hawaii I recently slurped a big bowl of saimin that had a lot more ingredients, it was more satisfying and cost just $8. The owner here served us. She was delightful. Our service was top notch. We were well tended to and felt the love here. Food was highly enjoyable, I had the veggie spicy ramen and added tofu + garlic. Chose to add some additional spice and ate the whole bowl. Good to the last drop! The overall restaurant was quiet and well decorated, there were many options for alcohol but we do not imbibe. I tried the soft shell ramen and so much fell flat.. - the ramen noodles were tough and not matching the dish -the BROTH tasted like instant noodle packet flavoring added and very thin in consistency -the vegetables were spinach, cabbage with some bean sprouts.... Where is the bamboo shoots, the seaweed, the garlic, mushrooms. This place can be amazing and on the map is the chef took the time and studied the ingredients and the dish passionately as it will resonant in the meal. And for the SUSHI... JUST stop it was just not at all good (dragon roll). I want to find a good part with the meal but I can say the cucumber water was refreshing. The ambiance in the front of miso good ramen is particularly nice. I love the lanterns hanging in the redwood trees. When you walk inside it is big! It looks a lot smaller from the outside. There is an upper level with a bar and a lower level seating here. I ordered the edamame, Wakame salad and the spicy ramen. My friends ordered the vegan spicy ramen to share. My true opinion is that I wish I had the vegan spicy ramen. The pork belly is an acquired taste. It's not cooked really well and doesn't taste that good in soup. It also said it was spicy and it was not spicy. If you don't like spicy don't worry but If you do you will have to order a side of chili. I was surprised that they charged $3 for a small side of it. They had a lot of different add on prices. Which added up. Ippin Udon doesn't charge for sides of lemon or chili. The wakame and edamame was great. My friends loved the vegan spicy ramen. I think they put more noodles in the vegan one than mine. I would recommend to order ground pork instead of pork belly. Or some other type of meat or fish in the soups. Ramen places are popping up everywhere these days, so I've become more critical of them. I'm also always a little wary of the "pun name" places, but was in town for work so I gave this spot a try with some coworkers. Wow, so glad I did! I ordered the Kimchi Ramen with Bulgogi, and was honestly worried about it. It's hard to pull off good Kimchi Ramen (especially with chicken broth), and was a little underwhelmed by the ingredients in the description. The service, decor, and presentation were nice, if nondescript. Wow, the ramen. Very rich flavor (again, especially for a chicken broth). Not that "overly salty" wash that some places spike the broth with, nor too much vinegar from the kimichi. The perfect blend, and I couldn't stop until it was done. Noodles were average, and I do wish there were a few more toppings (without having to pay for extra), but the bulgogi was incredible (tender, tasty, and plentiful), but the broth more than made up for that. That broth gets 5 stars. And hey, I could always add whatever I wanted extra. My friends said their food was good too, (sushi rolls, other ramen dish) but I think I loved it more than they did. If your kimchi ramen was as good as mine, you won't be sorry! read more

They have a nice outdoor space in addition to indoor seating. Sit upstairs if you're eating inside! I like that they're never busy because the food comes out quickly, but they deserve more traffic. In my opinion, Ramen here was worst than Sacramento Ramen. People always say you can get best Ramen in bay. There is a proverb, grass is greener other end but that's not the case at all times. I felt the staffs are not friendly. I noticed the way they treated their customers. Maybe they were not in a good mood. They gave us three napkin at the table. I went to grab two forks from the counter so I took one additional napkin. The staff immediately came to my table and took away that napkin. She said you have three napkin. We were three people at the table. I guess they have one napkin policy at the restaurant. Ramen broth was salty. My husband and I both agreed the broth was salty. And most of the Ramen restaurants they'll give customers one whole egg. This place only gives half the egg. It's not seasoned egg in soy sauce. It's regular egg. Parking: there is parking at the back of the restaurant but you have to pay. And the restaurant does not have sign at the back to state the name of the restaurant. Horrible planning. Bathroom was dirty and they didn't have toilet paper. They charged us extra for Chilli sauce. It was only $0.50 but who charges for Chilli sauce. We wanted to order some items from the sushi section of the menu. They told us the sushi or raw items are sold after 4.30pm. read more

I like it spicey, so ordered a side of the house Chili Paste. This was perfect and hit my umami G spot! The service was fast and gracious. Well, anyway, surprisingly, according to my notes this place was quite solid!... 1. Coke $2 2. Sake/Scottish Salmon Nigiri $6: Not bad. The rice was good enough (many places make it too hard or too mushy.) The salmon had a stale finish inside the transparent case at 9:30 PM, but despite its appearance it tastes quite crisp and fresh. I also appreciated the flair of the ends, which kinda makes it look like a shrimp. 7/10 3. Soft Shell Crab Paitan Shoyu $17 "creamy chicken and pork broth, soft shell crab, chasu [their mispelling] pork, tender greens, soft boiled egg, onion, seaweed, garlic": Yup, another "mot bad." The soup was wonderfully thick for chicken broth, though unfortunately a tad sweet. The noodles were standard and well cooked. Chashu was standard too. The crab was the best part, which was perfectly fried, yet soft and quite meaty. If it weren't for the odd tasting broth, I guess I'd score even higher, but... 7/10 So, if you're in the area and for some crazy reason just need some nourishment, and like everything else cooler is closed... sure... this will do. A small restaurant in downtown Santa Rosa with a decent size menu. One could get ramen, sushi roll, poke among other things. Went there for lunch toward the end of their lunch service. The server was friendly and prompt. The dining area was clean, comfortable, and inviting. Ordered a Chicken & Shrimp ramen and a Philadelphia roll. The chicken and shrimp were cooked well; chicken was tender and shrimp was not overcooked. The ramen itself was soft but still fine, but the amount was not enough to satisfy a ramen lover though. The broth was very good. Unfortunately, it was a bit too salty for my taste. The Philadelphia roll was OK. The smoked salmon in the roll was good, but the smoky flavor was somehow loss. If I revisit this place again, will skip the Philadelphia roll and try a different sushi roll. read more

The restaurant is in a good spot since there are two parking lots nearby and it's across from a shopping center. Our server was very helpful with her recommendation of kimchi ramen for my brother. Went here for lunch for the first time with my friend. It was good. I'd go back, but there was a few things that bothered me. First of all, the service , very rushy. When we first sat down the server came right over and gave us menus and my friend and I were catching up, chatting and the server comes back like 1 minute later to ask if we were ready to order. This happened like 3 times In the first 5 minutes. We haven't seen each other in a while and were talking and catching up (also it was t busy is there so I don't understand what the rush was but that's my biggest pet peeve). We ordered on the 4th time the server came over to ask if we were ready to order. We got the edamame , and spicy shrimp tempura for apps. They were both DELICIOUS!!! That shrimp was so good, I'd go back for that alone!! We got a spicy himachi roll to share which was really good as well. And we each got a poke bowl. My friend got it with salmon, I got it with tuna. The portion size was great. I'm a huge poke bowl fan and this one was not very good. It was very bland in flavor and the tuna wasn't very good at all. I would come back here to try different things but I was pretty annoyed with the service and being rushed to order. In Short: Delicious ramen and incredibly fast service. Not quite as mind-blowing as Ramen Gaijin but, then again, I didn't have to wait an hour for a table and another hour for my food. Location is convenient even if a little plain. Longer version: Came here for dinner with a friend on a Thursday night around 6:30pm. I arrived early because all the reviews talked about how busy this place was... it was dead. Great news for me: had my pick of tables and didn't feel like I was competing for space. Since this place is inevitably compared to Ramen Gaijin in Sebastopol, let me just say that the zero wait time is a win. Miso: 1, Gaijin: 0. Although past reviews have complained about service, our experience was the opposite. Our server was super attentive, providing good recommendations for what to add to our ramen when asked. Our food came out less than 5 minutes after we ordered it, and she stopped by to check on us throughout our meal even after a couple other patrons arrived. Due to Ramen Gaijin's immense popularity, I've had pretty slow and generally mediocre service every time I've gone in, regardless of time of day. Another win for Miso. Miso: 2, Gaijin: 0. Given the other reviews, I ordered the Spicy Paitan Ramen. I really love the pork belly at Ramen Gaijin so decided to add a slice of the Chasu Pork here. The broth was flavorful and I liked the texture of the ground pork. The Chasu pork tasted "ok" but was pretty disappointing when compared to Ramen Gaijin, and I don't think I would add it again. Overall, my meal was great and I would absolutely eat here again. However, when compared to the food at Ramen Gaijin, it's really hard to compete. Gaijin wins this round and since food is important, I'd say it's worth 2 points. Miso: 2, Gaijin: 2. All-in-all: If you are hungry for decent ramen and don't feel like waiting and waiting, I recommend you pay Miso a visit.
