This place is cash only! When you go in, make sure you take the door immediately to your left that leads you down a long hallway, NOT towards the dining area. It is not labeled. You're gonna be transported back to 1992 when you eat here. Everything from decor to food. The staff is super nice and will answer all of your questions as long as you're not timid and ask. There are great food specials but I lowkey think we were overcharged in retrospect. We paid just under $50 not including tip for 2 people and we each only had an entree and additional salad and drink. But maybe I'm off base for thinking cafeteria food for 2 shouldn't be $25 a piece? Anyways, the food is pretty good, exactly as you'd expect it, but underspiced. The main flavor is salt lol. But they do have hot sauce and Worcestershire to doctor things up! Would I come here again? I had the Chicken Divan, fried potatoes, broccoli-cauliflower medley and a slice of rye bread. All the food is prepared on site. The menu changes daily. Customers will save the most money by ordering one of the specials that are listed on the board. These include one or two sides. The Chicken Divan special was between $10-$12 when I went this past week. That price does not include a beverage. The main dish could have been hotter. Even so, it was still quite tasty. I had a choice of two sides. They have excellent fried potatoes. And the bread is always freshly baked. I do wish they would use less salt on all their main dishes. Customers can always add more salt, but they can't take it out. Many people are on salt restricted diets. It is cash only. I would probably go more often if they accepted credit cards even if they charged me an extra fee on my bill. The interior is nothing fancy. The booth seats and tables could use some repairs. They were even watching and confronting us about it ( which they had wrong). My husband & I have been wanting to try Miss Sherri's for awhile.We finally made it there.The food was ok,but nothing was even warm.The only reason my mashed potatoes were kinda warm,was because of the gravy.We both had got bread.When we got back to the table.We realized we didn't grab any butter.My husband went up to grab some.On his way back the Miss Sherri police stopped him & said those are 15 cents a piece sir.He couldn't beleve it & couldn't wait to get back to the table to tell me.That is ridiculous! I have eaten at Miss Sheri's many times on different nights of the week. I've tried many of their meals and despite their portions being a little small; the food was always good. Tonight I had the chicken fried steak, which I have had before, was horrible. It looked like ground up garbage and tasted worse. The previous times I had chicken fried steak it was tasty with a nice texture and bite. Tonight it was like mush. This was the first visit for my husband and I. We met a couple that are regulars and talked us into joining them. In honor of my mother, I ordered the Friday night special of Salmon Cakes, pea gravy, fried potatoes and bread. Also got a piece of rhubarb pie. All things she made on a regular basis. The fried potatoes and fresh rye bread were excellent! They slice the bread for you in the line. The Salmon was okay. It had more breading than expected and didn't really taste like salmon. The rhubarb pie was just okay as well. My husband got the beef tips which he described as very tender. He enjoyed that, the fried okra and coconut cream pie . The friendly server kept our drinks filled and our table cleared. The restaurant decor is a little outdated and worn. However, everything was clean. We were very happy with the prices! I went there for lunch on a Thursday. I had the Turkey and dressing, which was a plate full of dressing with some pieces of dark meat added on the side and then they sliced white meat turkey from a full turkey and put on top with some cranberry sauce and gravy added on top. I also got an Italian salad that was like what you would get from a restaurant on The Hill. The second side was a bowl of sweet potatoes. Desert was a slice of coconut pie. Everything was very good. Kind of reminds me of like grandma would make. The clientele here is mostly older white people in their 60s and 70s. They provide help with getting your tray to your table if you need it and a lot of people that were there utilized that. Cash only, no checks or credit cards. I swear I almost got carded on my way in. Luckily, even though I'm only 47, I must have passed for a 65 year old. I mean there wasn't anyone under 65 there. We both got mashed potatoes, I got a side salad and my wife got a piece of chocolate pie for dessert. The amount of food is staggering. First the turkey is real turkey, sliced right off the bird. And the man carving didn't stop piling stuff on. I think they do on purpose so there's enough for two people per plate. The stuffing was a good amount as well. The salad and potatoes were in a small sized bowl. Turkey gravy on the bird and the 'tatoes for me. Ok, let's start small. The salad was a salad. The turkey gravy was really, really good. I was very impressed. Not a clump to be seen, no gross skin. The pie wasn't great. The filling itself was nice but the crust was a little sad. I'm sure every grandmother that goes through that place and gets the pie cringes at the crust. The mashed potatoes were surprisingly good. They weren't a gloppy mess and they were not dry like you'd expect mashed potatoes under a warming light in a warming tray to be. The stuffing was the one thing, other than the pie crust, that didn't wow me. It was a little soggy, a little dry on the sides, not something you get at thanksgiving from Aunt Ginette from Minnesota. The turkey itself, also, was very good. Not dry, not cottony, nice and moist and a heaping helping of it. Very recommended and I wouldn't hesitate to get it again. I think that about sums it up. Oh, and in the middle of a pandemic not a sinGLE PERSON WAS WEARING A MASK. Not the employees, not the patrons, no one. Overall a decent place. Cleanliness average, the place is definitely showing its age and could use some upgrade. For instance flooring, seat covers, wallpapers are old and can be mistaken for being dirty. Food is average. I avoid any pasta dishes because noodles are always over cooked. Above average dishes are their turkey with dressing and roast beef. Sometimes they'll serve when meat and dressing have been sitting out a while so make sure to ask for fresh servings. Desserts are consistently good. Probably the upside to this establishment. I disagree with the reviews of Miss Sheri's Cafeteria! Yes, it is a cafeteria, hence the name. They aren't trying to hide that fact. So, yes, their clientele is older people. But what's wrong with that?? Most older people are kind, generous, quiet and decent people. So, I say, the more the merrier! Miss Sheri's is like food your grandma would make. It's not necessarily the most healthy, it may not be fancy or gourmet but it's just real, hardy food. My favorite dish is their breaded and baked pork chop with dressing. Yum!! The chop has a nice crust, seasoned fairly well, it's juicy and they don't skimp on the dressing or gravy. Miss Sheri's always has numerous options. Tonight there were several kinds of fish both baked and fried, roast beef, beef tips, chicken over rice, pork chops, and salmon patties. You have at least 10 salad options ranging from jello salad to beet salad to home made cole slaw. There are plenty of vegetables for side dishes. Love the creamed spinach and stewed tomatoes! Then comes the desserts! Home made pies of every variety! My fav- cherry crumb. You can't go wrong with that!! Some of the food is a little bland but again this business knows their customer and most seniors don't like spicy foods and a lot probably have to watch sodium... Throw a little salt and pepper on it, you're good to go! They have carry out as well but only accept cash. Going there almost 20 years; was satisfied w/food & service; then was robbed. Had a tab for bit less than $11. Gave cashier a twenty and a one; she gave me few cents change, but no $10 bill! Then claimed I gave her a TEN and a one. Owner(?) treated me like con man, refused to believe me. Said they would check the till next day and call me. Never called. I called & was told till balanced, so I'm a liar! Suspect cashier just pocketed $10 from till to make it balance. I'm asked to trust THEM, but they don't trust long-term customer. The food was decent except the pie I chose was terrible. The staff member I spoke to about the pie was argumentative and rude. When I asked for a special cut of turkey, this was declined even though other staff had happily done this before. Well...I'm not really a cafeteria fan...I usually go to these places with my geriatric relatives, greatly disgruntled about both the food and the fact that I am eating dinner at 4:00 in the afternoon.... Miss Sheri's is just that: The place where the octagenerians among us go to get their fill of jello with fruit inside of it, dried out chicken, and small brown plastic bowls of green beans. It's not that the food is bad, it's not. It's great that you can find nearly anything you want so there's no argument about where to go for a certain type of food...and it's not that the prices are bad. Actually, it's pretty cheap for the amount of food you get (about $10 per person for dinner, drink and desert...not bad), it's just....not my thing I guess. As cafeterias go, this has to be one of the better experiences I have had...but I am not a fan and I try not to go here. I love Miss Sheri's. I just wish it was closer to my house. I grew up going to Pope's Cafeteria with my parents and later took my own children to Furr's Cafeteria. Visiting Miss Sheri's brings back happy, family memories. I always get the sliced roast beef with mashed potatoes and gravy. So many sides to choose from. Top it off with a roll and a slice of their cherry pie. I think there's a senior living complex nearby. It's so much fun listening to the conversations of the older folks as they come in and the men sit at one large table with the ladies at another. Remember to bring cash. No plastic accepted. I find it extremely telling that about half the bad reviews complain that the food is too bland and about half complain that it's too salty. So...maybe these folks killed their taste buds. My grandparents and my parents loved to go here. Yes, the clientele is generally older folks. However, our family goes here because there is always going to be something that everyone likes, even the vegetarians. And we can grab a larger table in one of the rooms and if we get too rowdy, close the door. Also.....this is comfort food. I've passed this cafeteria many times on my way to and from Ronnie's and always meant to stop in and check it out. Went on a whim tonight when I had more than an hour before the show. The place is clean and tidy; food is presented well with a lot of variety and choices. All staff were friendly and welcoming. I love "grandma food" -- steamed veggies, baked or fried meats, gravy, etc. And they have this in spades. My only complaint is that everything was bland, but maybe I'm expecting too much? It is what it is - cafeteria food. Prices are reasonable and potions were adequate. Meat, two veg, chocolate cake and iced tea for $10 and change. I went to this Miss Sheri's Cafeteria not sure what to expect with it because I had gone to the one on Manchester Road more times that I could tell. It's much smaller that the other location and it's nice on the inside. The entrance and walkway is on the opposite side of the other location so I was confused a little about it when I walked into it. The dining room area is divided into smaller little sections separated by walls with windows and doorways through to those little sections. It's a nice set up for when you want to be a little closed off from other people. I had certain expectations about this location based on what I experienced at the other location, and they are pretty similar to each other. So that, in a way, I supposed is good. The food was exactly the same. Whatever the Manchester location has, this location has that, too. The food looked the same and it tasted the same. If you like cafeteria type food, this is it. If you don't like cafeteria type food, this isn't it for you. I liked it. I'll be back. read more

I have eaten here many times and think it's a pleasant place to get a real meal with vegetables. I often get the fried cod as a sandwich on rye bread with tartar sauce - light and tasty, and the tartar sauce is excellent! Their white fish is also delicious. I should have known better to turn around when I realized that I didn't see many people around my age... and the looks of the food. I ordered the safest of what was there: chicken teriyaki - and I HATE chicken teriyaki! Again... I should have turned around. The fried rice was horrible... cooked with enough soy sauce to cause hypertension. The teriyaki chicken wasn't any better - Hungry Man's microwavable frozen foods was better than that crap. Walking into this place is like stepping into the Twilight Zone...it's a unique experience. We wanted to try it because we love Luby's (in OK and TX.) Very friendly staff in the cafeteria line, but the food definitely doesn't look as good here as it does at Luby's. There weren't many items that called out to us as appealing. Mostly an older crowd - prob avg age of 60. Which we love, but it still feels a little odd being much younger in there. I ordered baked fish (cod, I think) and my wife had fried fish. My favorite part of the meal was the side kale salad I ordered with little mozzarella balls. My wife's was better than mine, but neither were that great. Our daughter's chicken strips were decent.
