Homestyle cafeteria, great desserts and really good coffee. Be aware, this is a cash only establishment.

    Chicken Divan Special

I had the Chicken Divan, fried potatoes, broccoli-cauliflower medley and a slice of rye bread. All the food is prepared on site. The menu changes daily. Customers will save the most money by ordering one of the specials that are listed on the board. These include one or two sides. The Chicken Divan special was between $10-$12 when I went this past week. That price does not include a beverage. The main dish could have been hotter. Even so, it was still quite tasty. I had a choice of two sides. They have excellent fried potatoes. And the bread is always freshly baked. I do wish they would use less salt on all their main dishes. Customers can always add more salt, but they can't take it out. Many people are on salt restricted diets. It is cash only. I would probably go more often if they accepted credit cards even if they charged me an extra fee on my bill. The interior is nothing fancy. The booth seats and tables could use some repairs. However, I don't think that will happen as they would have to raise prices on their food. It's a family-owned business which is a plus for me.

Good home cooking selections. The staff was very helpful with offering to carry trays and refill drinks. The servers on the line were helpful with making selections for dinner. Cafeterias have such a wonderful selection of salads and pies for dessert. It is worth a visit for just that! EDIT: Returned a few more times and really enjoyed the home cooking and helpfulness of the staff. We will continue to return. Cash only.

If you are looking for a home cooked meal like Grandma used to make, this is the place to go. It is overflowing with comfort food. They make everything from scratch. Note: CASH ONLY. This was the first visit for my husband and I. We met a couple that are regulars and talked us into joining them. In honor of my mother, I ordered the Friday night special of Salmon Cakes, pea gravy, fried potatoes and bread. Also got a piece of rhubarb pie. All things she made on a regular basis. The fried potatoes and fresh rye bread were excellent! They slice the bread for you in the line. The Salmon was okay. It had more breading than expected and didn't really taste like salmon. The rhubarb pie was just okay as well. My husband got the beef tips which he described as very tender. He enjoyed that, the fried okra and coconut cream pie . The friendly server kept our drinks filled and our table cleared. The restaurant decor is a little outdated and worn. However, everything was clean. We were very happy with the prices! Seemed most entrees were under $10. However, it is unclear as you go through the line what the cost of sides, desserts and drinks are. We will go back and join our friends again.

I could get vegan eggs and vegan bacon, and my friends could get their chicken eggs and turkey bacon. My favorites here were the vegan milkshakes, pancakes, vegan bacon, brussels sprouts, and the shrimp po'boy. Unfortunately, I'm speaking of them in past tense because as of tonight, 09May, they have permanently closed. My family and I were some of the very last customers. They were out of all my favorites, so it was extra sad for me. I ended up trying the tacos for the first time. They were cool. But I'm surely going miss my favorites! The owners also own Frida's and Diego's, off Delmar and North & South. I personally don't care for the food at either one, but rumor has it, they might bring some of the Station No 3 favs over to one of these restaurants (which are right next door to each other).

It's a great place to go with your vegan friends as there are many options for vegans and non vegans alike. It's counter service or order from a QR code at your table. They also seem to have a full bar. There was a Wednesday happy hour when we were there $9 old fashioned and potato skins. All and all it was pretty good but I would have liked to see some healthier options that weren't salad, like more fresh veggies in dishes.

The service is "ignore until they flag you down." Food is alright, better than average for diners in the area with prices that are very reasonable. I prefer a burger as the meat of a slinger. They use sausage patties. The chili is perfect and the server/chef sent out over medium and easy eggs cooked to perfection. The ice tea is STRONG. Had to ask for a refill. Again, you'll get ignored. I tried some of the filling of the pie--it was just average. This place is clearly a mainstay for South County. I think it's worth coming at least once, but I have to say: I got some looks. It was like people needed to see and hear me speak fluent, accent-less English. Just keep that in mind.

For the first time in forever we got there during happy hour so what do we do? Save money? No, we order two appetizers instead of one! I always do build your own, you fill out the sheet from a pad on the table choosing your ingredients by category. I usually get the beef but last couple times I have ordered chicken but got similar toppings, Spinach, tomato, chipotle aioli, and fried jalapenos on toasted sourdough. Love it! For a small upcharge you can get a salad as a side, I like to do that because I can steal a few of the delicious fries from my companions. The salad is generous, spring mix, red onion, tomato, croutons. It comes with shaved parmesan, but I ask them to leave that off. The champagne vinaigrette is perfect. This is my favorite burger place, but I like that I can get a great chicken sandwich!
