I've got really mixed feelings about this place. You know how they say that if you can't smell the smoke outside the BBQ joint, keep trucking? I would say keep trucking, but for everything they did poorly they did something great. I had the mix meat combo with brisket and pulled pork. I'm more of a pork than brisket guy, but everyone was ordering the brisket so I decided to give it a shot. Boy, was that a mistake. My "moist" brisket flaked apart with a fork like overcooked fish. There was no bend test, as you couldn't even pick it up without it falling apart. Then came the pulled pork. I'm a big pulled pork guy and just about as picky as they come. I don't want mushy pork, I don't want shredded pork, I want long, moist strands of pork that still have some bite. While it lacked any smoke flavor whatsoever, they did not disappoint here. In an area devoid of any good pork BBQ (yes, 4Rs is included), this actually surprised me to find passable pulled pork in a chain. Also, mega bonus points for not hiding bad pulled pork by presaucing it. I think the sauces are where they truely stood out. No, they didn't have a ton of sauces, but they did have 8. And they weren't all of the sugar tomato sauce variety. They all had thought put into them and tasted fairly unique. I was truely happy to see a NC vinegar sauce and a Georgia mustard sauce. I was also glad to see the mustard sauce wasn't a complete sugar bomb (in fact, mix that mustard with the NC and that's similar to the sauce I make at home). Both of the sides I had, the green beans and the collards, we're good. The corn bread was of the corn muffin mix variety and went directly into the garbage can. This is a 3.5/5 for the Orlando area, but Orlando is pretty devoid of decent bbq. Would have been 4.0 if the brisket wasn't so dry. I should add, the staff was fantastic and the overall experience and cleanliness we're top notch. Recommend getting rid of the Craftsman toolbox holding all the lids and straws. I had to bend over just to see the labels on that thing. read more

We first tried Mission BBQ in South Florida. I instantly loved it and was so sad that there were none in Orlando. This location is over in Oviedo, by UCF. We just happened to see it on the road. We were actually trying to kill time before going to a friends house so what better way then to stop and get some BBQ?! This is a typical BBQ place. Brisket, ribs, pulled pork, etc. They have their own sauces, I think 6 total and also sides you would find at a BBQ place. The food though is amazing! It is just so delicious. It's moist, juicy and full of flavor. The thing I like the most about Mission BBQ is that they are all about veterans. They even have a special table made up all fancy for a POW. I just think this is just amazing. Pictures all over of people in the military, fire fighters, police officers, etc. I just think it is nice to see a place support these individuals so much. I do think the price is a little high for BBQ, but I compare it to Orlando's other large BBQ place, 4 Rivers, and the price is extremely similar. Unfortunately, we do not live anywhere near this location as we live in Winter Garden and they are in Oviedo. But if we did we would be there all the time. I can definitely see my husband and I going for a drive to have lunch here. I would say definitely check it out, its really good! read more

I would give it a PERFECT score!! After trying the Oviedo location for the first time it is now my Favorite place to eat in Florida!! I tried the salmon which was amazing, the sides were just as excellent!! The cheesy potatoes, corn bread and green beans were soo good! Everything was hot and fresh! You can taste that every thing is made from scratch with love! They had a very kind young man available to ask if I needed anything and I told him I was from North Carolina just visiting and the food was the BEST!!! He came back with a complimentary desert since I was a first time customer - it was warm Carmel bread pudding and it was absolutely delicious!! BBQ and Gluten Free options; a dream come true. The place is Nicole decorated with wood and memorabilia for soldiers and first responders everywhere! It was interesting to look at everything on the walls. They have a large overhead sign with all of their options along with a small bar tub filed with some sodas, pops and other drinks you can take from. The girl at the counter seemed fairly new but she was great and double checked on questions about gluten free options that we asked her. They don't have many GF sides but the fries were good! The cooks and people calling the order were all pleasant and helped to give the down south BBQ vibe. We got the pulled pork, brisket, and BBQ chicken and it was all fantastic! Some of the extra sauces at the tables are delicious but if you are GF, they are not clearly labeled so make sure to ask before trying! There is also a menu you can go to grab the GF menu which is online and shows the sauces. (Not sure if they have a printed one in the restaurant) . We will be back here soon! read more

Mission BBQ opened recently in Oviedo. I visited for an early Sunday night dinner at this quick service chain restaurant. What I liked: the flavor and the sauces. The meat had a nice smokiness. There were six different sauces to try too and I liked the variety! What I didn't like: the meat was dry. This is really important to me for a BBQ place! I know the sauce is good but I shouldn't have to douse the meat in it. Both my pulled pork and husband's brisket were like this. We also got collard greens which were okay; nothing special. Service was speedy and everyone was very friendly. A good option for quick bite to eat in this part of town. read more

My family and I recently had dinner at Mission BBQ in Oviedo on Saturday, November 2nd around 6 PM. They call this place patriotic but I don't think some of their employees are patriotic. We placed our order at the counter and I asked the cashier for a copy of my receipt. All she gave me was the Guest Copy of the amount that was charged to my credit card even though the itemized receipt was printed. She held that part back. It was so obvious that she didn't want me to see the itemized receipt. I was tired and was caught off guard to pursue the entire receipt. The more I thought about it the more I got upset that I didn't get the entire receipt. She probably charged me for a tip for her and her friends even though she didn't ask me if I wanted to leave a tip. I wonder how many other guest she did this to. The name of the employee on the Guest Copy was Dianne. If you go there avoid this young lady with blonde hair behind the counter and get the entire receipt and check it. The food was good but I lost my appetite to go there again. read more

Sooo,,I was blown away by Mission BBQ yesterday afternoon!!! The food,,service and ambiance were outstanding and above and beyond! From the moment I walked up,,Michael,,was holding the door open for me welcoming me very politely. The girls at the counter were super friendly and helpful as well. My Goose Island IPA was only $2 and came with an awesome free koozie served around it. The pulled pork had burnt ends,,was a portion so large I took some home and had the best flavor and was nice and moist and well priced at $7.49. It came with a side of cornbread. I don't eat bread and you can only sub it out for more bread but I tried it and it was fine. When I asked where the lids and straws were,,a BOH employee was telling me in the "toolbox." Before I could take two steps over there,,Michael magically already had the drawers pulled out and opened for me. There were all kinds of stuff in there including wet naps.. And omg,,the sauces ~ There are 6 on the table plus a NC Vinegar. On the toolbox there are 2 more sauces,,Hot pepper vinegar,,Old Bay,,a delicious mustard sauce and Texas Pete hot sauce. I had about 11-12 sauces on my table,,Heaven!!! My favorites were the Tupelo Honey Heat and Smoky Mountain (gives the BBQ a nice smoky flavor to your own liking). Paper towel holders were on every table as well. The ambiance is so warm and welcoming,,I felt right at home and loved the pics of all the veterans and heroes lining the walls. So American down to the flags on the ceiling! Before I left I asked Rebecca for a to-go box and she happily brought one,,introduced herself and we chatted for a moment. Then when I tried to put my "toolbox" sauces etc away,,she wouldn't let me and insisted that she do it. I'm telling you that they wouldn't let me lift a finger. Amazing and hard to find these days!! I tried to get two sauces mentioned above to go and she gladly grabbed them from behind the counter for me and wished me a farewell on my way out. The Classic sauce and Bay-BBQ were also good. My only suggestion would be to get a super hot sauce! The Baja Bold wasn't spicy or flavorful enough.. One of my favorite restaurants in Central FL and I am hard to please. I ordered the 5 baby back bone ribs as an XXL combo, which comes with 2 sides and drink. An XL combo comes with one side and a drink. My two sides were green beans and the kickin' collards. My husband ordered the brisket with side salad and soup. Both meals come with a side of corn bread. The baby back ribs was our favorite. It was fall off the bone, juicy, and great flavor. It didn't need any additional sauces. If you order the brisket they ask if you want more of the fatty meat or lean meat. We asked for fatty but the brisket was lean. We're not sure if we got lean by accident or if the fatty meat was more on the lean side here. Either way, we enjoyed it. We tried out a variety of the sauces that they offer. We liked a combination of the Florida Gator Bite and The Baja Bold. Veterans get discounts and have reserved parking spots. Indoor and outdoor seating available. This place is truly an American treat. Mission BBQ is a place that honors our heroes while serving some pretty good BBQ. If you're a military veteran, you'll be treated with open arms as they offer VIP parking for vets and a free meal on Veterans Day. I came in wanting to taste test their meats and tried out the pulled pork and brisket. The meats were smoked to perfection and made my mouth feel like the 4th of July. My meal came with BBQ baked beans which were very spicy compared to beans I've eaten at other places so if you're weak on spice, careful with the beans. The one thing I really liked about this place was the multiple choices of BBQ sauces on every table. I tasted six different sauces and my favorite was the spicy honey sauce. Overall, this place is truly a good BBQ restaurant. Sucks it's so far away from me but I would highly recommend it. read more

Excellent choice. Our sides were fries which I loved and come slaw which was ok. The sweet lady busting tables cane by to make sure we had enough and asked if it was our first time here. We said yes and she offered to bring us something to try - she brought baked beans (excellent), collard greens (not my thing but hubby loved), mac n cheese- wow, and apple cobbler which was awesome. Sam was so helpful since it was our first time there he read off the menu with great detail and offered his thoughtful opinions. I went to this place for the first time in about 2 years this afternoon, and I remember now why I don't go there. I paid $12 + change (accounting for tax) for a pitifully small amount of chopped brisket on a bun. There was more bbq sauce than meat. If I had been in the restaurant, I would have walked up to the counter to show it to them, but I had gotten takeout and was already at home. I could have gone to 4Rivers a few minutes away, paid $3 less for a sliced-to-order brisket sandwich with twice the meat. It was fast, and flavor was OK, so I'll give them 2 stars. Good option when craving BBQ. I ordered the 1/4 pound brisket which is not listed on the menu as an XXL combo (2 sides and a drink). The brisket was moist and tender and although a bit cold had a great taste. I was just too tired to say anything so I just ate it. The mac & cheese was very good. The collard greens were just ok. If they didn't have so many tomatoes in it I would have loved them. Service was quick and friendly both at the register and the kitchen area. This was one of if not the best experiences I had at a restaurant. The wait staff was ridiculously friendly (we got free samples of the brownie which was delicious and of the stake, also amazing). When I went to pick up our food, my husband did not order a side, but the gentleman said it plate looked a little empty, so they gave him a free side of Mac salad. We finally ate at Mission BBQ today. Their customer service is fantastic and their food was amazing! The person behind the counter helped us order because it was our first time. The food was up quick and she even brought us full side samples of the sides we didn't pick so that we could try everything. Their moist brisket is the best brisket I have ever had before! My husband loved his pulled pork and brisket. The banana pudding was delicious. They have an assortment of BBQ sauces on the table and they were all great - I really liked the Texas Twang one. One of the absolute best experiences we've ever had at a restaurant! The mission behind this restaurant is amazing. They treat veterans of the military awesome and any cops or firefighters. On top of this great experience they have some amazing bbq. Rico came over and told us the mission to serve these people and it was a great story. We got the sampler of the different types of bbq and tried their different sauces. They do a great job of different sauces throughout the country! Ate here yesterday for lunch and let me tell you I would drive the 60 miles again for this place and I'm very critical of my BBQ. Had a 3 meat sampler ( Brisket, pork and jalapeño sausage ) with potato salad and collard greens with a slice of cornbread and a sweet tea. I couldn't find ANYTHING wrong with this meal and trust me I looked, I didn't even add sauce to it. I tried about 8 different sauces which were all good in their own flavor profile but once I tasted the meat I couldn't put it down with sauce. I make my own rubs and sauces and my friends call me Bobby Q because they think I make the BEST BBQ but these folks do BBQ right for a restaurant. Just moved here from Colorado, and one thing I miss being close to my family in Kansas is the good ole Bar B Q in the mid west. We still haven't found a #1 overall great bbq place with great smoke flavor a tasty source but We found this place and it's by far a perfect comparison to some good meat with awesome sides choice. I've never left a BBQ place hungry before. I ordered the 1/2 chicken, mac and cheese and a side of cornbread. The chicken was very fatty and small (maybe it was organic?). It was not tender and the taste wasn't great. The outside is seasoned, but the inside didn't have much flavor. I could only eat about 1/4 of the meat on the chicken because it was so tough. The sauces on the table also weren't great. With 6 options, I was hoping to find at least one, but no such luck. The cornbread was small and dry. The mac and cheese was the star of the plate, but the bar was pretty low. I told the server that came around to clear our plates that are meal was "meh" and she didn't care to ask any additional questions. The place is clean and has cool decor. The parking is very easy. Unfortunately the food didn't measure up. I'm disappointed because this place is close to where I live and it would have been nice to have another BBQ joint. read more
