I decided to try out this restaurant since I pass it all the time going down cactus. Was standing and staring at the menu and the kid maybe he was in his twenties but to me he's a kid, took his time to explain the platters and gave us samples of the brisket to see if it was something we would enjoy. All the servers there were really welcoming which these days is really unusual for young people in the service industry. We got the ribs and the brisket which came with a load of fries and the food was really delicious. But I absolutely can't say enough about how great the service was and how friendly everyone was that was employed there. Would recommend! We love bbq and this new location is close to home so we decided to give it a try. Upon arriving we saw the giant Mission Bbq military looking truck parked outside and the photos of fallen soldiers inside. We ordered our takeout and the cashier was extremely helpful and friendly. It was time to pay so, given the decor and the "mission" of the restaurant, my husband pulled out his veteran's ID and asked for the veteran's discount. Imagine our surprise when we were told they do not give one. He was instead instructed to sign up for the VIP club and he would get a free sandwich. The food itself was fine and the portion size was generous for the price. However the lack of a veteran's discount seems so strange. It's not even about the $5 or $6 we would have saved. It's more about a restaurant leading with their support of military and first responders, but needing to collect all of your personal information and send you endless marketing emails to reward you for something they seem to hold so dear. No matter how good the food might have been, I left with a very bad taste in my mouth. read more

Husband & I stopped in this evening to try out restaurant. I had pulled pork market and he had a pulled pork sandwich. He had a $6 combo add on that included a side ( Cole slaw) and drink. Food was good / really enjoyed trying all six of the different styles of bbq sauce. Personally think Smoky Mtn was best. My corn bread was tasty too. Food was great and "real" BBQ unlike some of the other more popular BBQ brands. I enjoyed trying all 6 BBQ sauce flavors with Baja Bold and Smoky Mountain being my favorite. Unfortunately I will not be returning due to the pricing. The chopped brisket sandwich costs 165% of what it does at another popular chain - Rudy's. Came here on a whim with my family and we all had brisket, jalapeño sausage, ribs, mac and cheese, cheesy potatoes and fries! You can tell this place cares about their patrons and treat them like family! Not only is the food delicious but the customer service is top notch! The service is excellent and the restaurant is clean and organized. A couple of recommendations: they serve brisket moist or lean. Two orders of moist had a couple big slices of pure fat so if that's to your liking then order moist. Lean was a bit too dry on another order. So be advised. Now cornbread - why not give bigger slices? A tiny 2"x3" piece is way too small - double the size! Collard Greens are excellent! All in all we will figure out the best thing to order on future visits. read more

I have been anxiously awaiting the "order online" option for this place and was so glad to see it pop up today!! I'll preface this by saying I'm from Kansas City and I am a KC bbq snob - though I appreciate multiple styles. We ordered the two meat platter w sliced brisket and turkey; added two sides (green beans and bbq beans) and then also an order of ribs w two sides (mashed potatoes and bbq beans). I threw in two things of KC original bbq sauce and the NC vinegar. Both meals came w cornbread. Service was great for pick up, though be prepared to spend some money - we spent about $75 for that order. When I took my first bite of the brisket w the KC original bbq sauce, I was in heaven. If you're a KC bbq connoisseur, then know it tastes almost exactly (if not exactly) like Gates and as a person who used to order that online, I cannot tell you how happy I am!! It was DELICIOUS. My only two down sides were the mashed potatoes (lacked seasoning) and the fact I didn't get one of my bbq beans (we only got one, ordered two). But trust me when I say this will be a staple in our takeout rotation moving forward!! read more

I can't say enough great things about Mission BBQ! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with the kind of warmth and friendliness that makes you feel right at home. The staff here go above and beyond -- everyone is so welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. A special shoutout to David, the gentleman who walks around the lobby checking in on guests -- he is truly one of the sweetest and most personable people I've ever met. You can tell he takes pride in making sure everyone feels cared for, and it really made our visit extra special. One of the things I absolutely love about Mission BBQ is that every day at noon, they pause everything to play the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. I've driven past this place many times but finally stopped in. Great atmosphere with dedication to service men and women and the smells are incredible! I ordered the turkey and brisket and they were outstanding! 6 different options for sauce at your table is great! I would come back for the collard greens alone!! The cheesy potatoes were way off my diet but worth every calorie! I was offered a special cup that sends proceeds to support our brave service men and women and had to participate. We ordered the brisket, beans, coleslaw, and mac and cheese. I realize that we are in "shrinkflation" but just so you know $15 gets you 3 pieces of brisket. It is want tender nor did it have much flavor. The beans were the best side but we ordered a pint and it wasn't even close to a pint. The coleslaw was as meh at best and the mac and cheese was nothing special. Could it have been an off night? Maybe. Rudy's is much better for the money and flavor. As the pictures show there was an odd looking piece of something on my plate of wings. When asking one of the employees about it she wasn't sure what it was and had not seen anything like it. She got the Manager. His customer service and personality skills were ZERO! His approach was one of no big deal. When asked about it he said ya, that's from our smoke ring. What?? Then he compared it with one of the other wings on the plate. No comparison. I said I have never seen a wing Iike this before. No apology. He finally offered to give me another wing. I declined because they weren't very good and I threw the rest away. His personality, overall conversation and lack of concern were disappointing. I gave it 2 stars not for the food or the Manager but for the young lady that took our order and Megan!! They both were great at customer service. Megan was fabulous and apologized several times about the wing issue and was kind enough to offer a brownie for our dissatisfaction! The service is great, the food is good, the bbq sauces are decent. I tried them all and just couldn't find one I loved. Ordering at the counter is easy and staff is ready to offer recommendations and answer questions. I went with the turkey sandwich and found the turkey to be moist, nicely smoked, and very flavorful. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich. The sides were also good from the fries to the baked beans which had a nice sweet flavor to them. They have 6 sauce choices so I tried them all but unfortunately none of the blew me away. Let me start off by saying that the Smokey Mountain sauce is the best barbecue sauce I've ever tasted. Wow. I could drink gallons of the stuff! Mission BBQ has recently opened in PV and I couldn't be more satisfied. It has a really cool Patriotic vibe and very friendly staff. Pulled pork and pulled chicken sandwiches were both awesome. First visit at Paradise Valley store. This place truly covers all the bases for a great BBQ. Turkey IS AMAZING! Buttery melt in your mouth yum. Pulled pork was also excellent. The rub shines coming out of the smoker! Coleslaw and baked beans are made exactly as all good bbq places should. French fries YUM YUM. 6 different sauces and all good on their own and mixed...we tried them all. Seriously....you're missing out if you don't try this place. This place just opened for business this week! We were immediately greeted when we walked in by staff and supported by Addi at the counter. She was quick to make recommendations and swayed my husband to try the ribs!! The place pays tribute to our military and first responders - decorated very nicely. Did notice a few firemen as well as police officers in the dining area, enjoying their platters. Our food was served up quickly and definitely a place to try if you're a meat carnivore. Service! We had a wonderful experience at Mission BBQ when we went for our first visit on Father's Day. It was definitely busy considering the holiday but that did not take away from the delicious food and authentic atmosphere. I had the lean brisket sandwich and decided on the Kansas City BBQ sauce to add to it, it was perfect. The fries were also some of the best I've had and were very addicting. My whole family loved their meals. My kids got a kick out of the old-fashioned glass bottled sodas that tasted just like childhood. This restaurant is the kind where you order at the counter and then find a table, but there are servers walking around to help customers and clean tables. Our server was a nice, young lady named Shy who took great care of us. We also really loved looking around at all of the walls. They have an incredible collection of uniforms, photos, etc from those who have served in the armed forces and emergency services. It was inspiring and you could tell everything was done with a lot of heart and thought put into it. Highly recommend! read more

My wife and I went without knowing anything about the place. It has a "fast food" feel, but not a fast food taste. The staff was beyond friendly, and everything was clean and well stocked. We got the 3 item sampler, and chose pulled pork, turkey breast and jalapeño sausage. It came with corn bread. No sides came with it but were offered at an additional cost. My family and I have been to a mission BBQ in Tennessee 7yrs ago. It was over the top amazing for my husbands birthday we went to Scottsdale Arizona to celebrate we found out there was a mission BBQ there oh, we had to go and see for our selves, and let me tell you the moment we walked through the door the service was amazing we were greeted and felt so welcomed. The young lady that took our order was so sweet, the chef gave us some samples to try bc there were so many great choices for a second it felt like we have been there before it didn't feel like our first time we talk with the cashier, the chief, the young lady that was cleaning up tables it felt like home. The atmosphere was so friendly and family oriented there was one special employee that stood out to me the most her name is Courtney how she greeted customers by name and how she was interacting with them as if they were family. Mission BBQ when you are here you are family.... This is a place that I will definetly be back to visit its an 8 hr drive from our home but if I'm ever in the area it's well worth it! So if you are looking for a place were you feel like family this is the place to.stop by have some great food enjoy great hospitality and make some wonderful memories And the food oh, my gosh the meat is so tender we had the brisket basket delishes and you must try the banana pudding it's so so so delicious 5 stars I would give more if it didn't limit me to 5 stars.
