The food here is ok by BBQ standards. I will try not to rate too tough because they are supporting a good cause win the wounded warriors and veterans for the US Military. Props to that. As far as food goes, it really does have that famous daves, chain bbq quality and that to me does not speak to the essence of BBQ. The store and location has ample parking and is clean and the staff are very friendly. I ordered the two meat sampler and also a side of mac and cheese. I initially tried to order dark meat chicken and they were out of it and so I asked for white meat and the lady said it was a $4.50 up charge even though they ran out of what I wanted. I decided to order the moist brisket and spare ribs and got my food and began to chew the beef when I noticed it was super dry and tough and tasted old and just not edible. I looked at my receipt to verify it was the moist I ordered and indeed it was. I took my tray back up to swap it all out and the lady confirmed I got lean on my tray vs moist and the ribs were super dry also. They replaced my meal but I had to take it to go. I looked at the portion size of the 1/4 lbs lean vs moist and it's no way they were the same amount so I felt cheated. Nonetheless not the best experience at Mission Bbq. Messed up order, different portion sizes, dry food, equals not a happy customer. read more

I LOVE great BBQ and from what I tasted, this ain't it. It was good, pretty good, but far from the best or far from anything that lives up to all the hype in reviews. The portions were too small for the prices, this is for the meats and the sides. The food was not bad, please don't take my review as me saying that. But it's definitely NOT a Dixie Bones, Willard's or Rocklands! The bark was nice, smoke ring also nice on the beef, but the smoke on the meat was almost non-existent in flavor. The jalapeño sausage was tasty, but looked like it was boiled or cooked in some other way. There was no smokey flavor or look to it at all and it had a slightly rough texture. Mac & Cheese was very generic, definitely far from perfect or special. Potato Salad was absolutely AMAZING! Love the spice and the "wetness" of it! Great job there! Cornbread was horribly dry. Had somewhat decent flavor and the whole kernels of corn in it added a nice touch, but it was dry, hard and tooooo thin. But the portions were too small for what we paid. Getting 3 slivers of brisket really was disappointing. They did have nice sauces and sweat tea and good lemonade too. Service we got was very friendly and personable and we really like how they support public safety and the military, that is VERY admirable and what will keep me coming back. read more

I love Mission's. I actually wish that they put one in the Potomac Mill area of Woodbridge. I love the specials. At this location, I had the salmon. It was everything, plus some. I had to get an extra piece for myself, as my husband kept trying to take mine. The sides are amazing. The mac and cheese is just how I like it. Super cheesy and not too much creamy. Its perfect. I also love the green beans. This place is great. I love the fact that all of the staff is so nice. I've been to place, the food would be tasty but the service would be horrible. Absolutely amazing. Prices range from about $7 to $15 per meal. We looked quite confused so a wonderful employee pulled us aside and explained the "Mission BBQ story" which is to provide authentic BBQ made from the freshest ingredients in a dining room designed in honor of the men and women who protect and serve our country. He also explained their special sauces and directed us to "the toolbox" which is a literal toolbox filled with anything you could ever need for your BBQ. Raised in the "south" (Florida) we were pretty excited about this BBQ so we dug in and were very surprised! My husband had the brisket and I had the pulled pork. Our dishes (pans?) came with cornbread and we opted for a side of macaroni which was AMAZING. we even got a complimentary bowl of banana pudding which was so good I couldn't believe it. The BBQ is indeed authentic in every way and the vinegar mix provided at the table made my pull pork taste like I was back in North Carolina. Even our five month old wanted a taste! Big shout out to this location for the perfect execution of a catering order for 40 people! They were amazing to work with, the manager (blanking on her name) even called me to verify all the details and to add in sauces because I forgot to add them on the initial order. They labeled everything perfectly, delivered it on time, and it was easy to transport. I really appreciated all of the time and effort put into the order (and so did everyone in my training). We used to Love eating here- but we've noticed the portions are getting smaller, foods not as fresh. Today we picked up a small to go order, a chicken sandwich and fries. The fries were so salty, we were not able to eat about 1/3 of the order. The chicken was also very spiced up. I did not finish my food, and if we had eaten in store i would have taken it back. The pulled chicken was tender and moist; the portion was enough for two sandwiches. I'm husband always raves about the brisket here and this night (5/17/2018) was no exception. The brisket was moist, smoky and not too fatty. The Mac 'n' cheese was delightful: creamy and superbly cheesy with strings of melted perfection connecting the pasta to your lips. We love the variety of sauces available; from smoky to mustardy to sweet to vinegary, there's something for every discerning palate. We had about every meat option available. The baby back ribs I had were quite dry, and I had to put a lot of sauce on them to eat them. My friend's, however, seemed better. Cornbread was dry. Potato salad was pretty mediocre. Chopped bbq was delicious. Mac and cheese was very good. The cob corn was amazing. Burger was very good. I think they are a little pricey for some of their food, but not overly so. Bottom line: I'd like to go again, avoiding the potato salad, and hoping my ribs and cornbread were an anomaly and not the norm. read more

I have been wanting to try this place forever! I finally had the chance to go in. The inside is pretty large with a lot of tables and big booths. I ordered the 2 meat special with 2 sides: brisket, pork BBQ, fries, seasonal side of Cajun corn, and corn bread. The brisket was pretty good with a nice smoky flavor. The pulled pork was on point and absolutely delicious. The fries were really good, Cajun corn delicious, and the cornbread was good also (a little dry but great flavor). When I return I will definitely get the pulled pork again. My daughter really wanted the ribs but we got there around 12 (they open at 11:30) and were told they would not be ready until 1! I found that annoying and not sure if that is normal or just a fluke today. So, she opted for the kids Mac and cheese and fries. She did NOT like the Mac and cheese. It was really runny and had a kick to it. So........I went back up and ordered her a pulled chicken sandwich which she devoured.
