Terrible service. Went here for the first time. Took a long time for anyone to even get us water - took longer to order beverages. I ordered a pine fin. I was brought straight sour mix in a martini glass. When I pointed out the error, the server took it to the bartender who brought me a pine fin cosmopolitan. When I pointed out THAT error, they eventually brought me the drink I ordered. The lobster bisque was very good. The wedge salad might have been great, but they never brought it to me. Shrimp in the scampi was over cooked. The caviar in the lobster/caviar appetizer was sweet. I've never had sweet caviar. Ordered French press for two to the tune of $12 but apparently that's not enough to buy you cream. I won't go back and I recommend that you stay away as well. read more

Our 4th visit after the first 3 being a disaster. Valet-didn't valet parking but he sat there as I walked in. HOLD THE DOOR! Get up and open the door for guests. Common courtesy AND respectful. This place has really good steaks! I had the gorgonzola crusted ribeye and it was great. Although the steak came out a bit more cooked than I asked for, but it was tender and juicy. I enjoyed the meal. It was a bit pricey, but it did come with mushrooms and toppings. All sides cost extra, making the price even more pricier! So what can I say about being snubbed. Four of us walked in and we're seated and we could instantly tell we were not welcomed. Upon entering the hostesses were not friendly not welcoming and not smiling. Our waiter came over and filled our water glasses another waiter came by and dropped off our bread and that was the last that we saw of anyone; other than when they all walked by without giving us a second glance. We sat there for 30 minutes never received a menu I never asked if we could be helped. After we sat there jokingly discussing the fact about walking out we decided we had enough and done just that. But, not after the bread was half gone which was tough by the way and felt day-old. So if I could give a negative review I would give a negative review of -5. The hostess, the wait staff and the manager need to take lessons how to treat people and customers. And to the owner of this restaurant please ensure any future customers you may get are treated equally, appropriately as you would want to be treated and in a timely manner. Anyone reading this post I highly recommend do not eat here I had soon rather eat at McDonald's, Burger King or a Hole in the Wall Restaurant as to eat here. read more

I've eaten at many more expensive steak restaurants, but the steak at this restaurant was much cheaper and was prepared just as well as other more expensive restaurants. The staff was very personable and friendly; not snotty like I expected. We went to celebrate our anniversery and took our 11 month old. Everyone was every welcoming, to us and our son. Our server was training and they were both so nice. Our steaks were cooked perfectly! The mashed potatos were delicious as well. I also had the arugala salad, it was so fresh and well layered. Topped with mandarin oranges, dried cranberries, shaved parm and bacon dressing. The apple bread pudding and creme brule were the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. They even bought our desserts since we were celebrating! I knew they were known for good service and quality food but this was way beyond that. Came here with a bunch of coworkers and ordered a bunch of appetizers. I had the strip steak and it was delicious. The sides and appetizers were great as well. The food was very good, but not worth sitting through the terrible service. Our waiter truly meant well but he was clueless. He didn't know how to clear the table to make enough room, left us for 20-30 minute periods which meant we didn't order until about an hour into sitting down, and was really unaccommodating to our requests. Ok when you have a place as beautiful as this place. It is a sin to get the service and bland food that they serve. So it took some time to even get a server, then we waited 14 minutes for our salads. Since we ordered the 3 course which is the sane way to go, And then they get petty when my girl wants a bake potato instead of the offered sides, they charge 2 more dollars when the 3 course is 40 bucks already. The chopped salad is bland and uncreative, you might as well just give us free bread and call it a day. Now onto the entree. Two corn fed filets, which were impressive. The mash hot and creamy, the keylime pie ok. The service was actually great once got going. They need to look at management because there was none. Will I be back, not sure at this point. read more

I really want to give 3.5 stars because fancy steakhouses should be held to higher standards. Mitchell's was very good but there is a lot of competition in steakhouses these days and very good is easy to come by. Drinks at the bar first. Attentive service, decent list of whiskeys and wine by the glass. Pleasant atmosphere. We moved to a table for dinner and the hostess carried our drinks, nice touch. Great service. Nicely paced. I had the bone in filet and ordered medium rare, but mine was so rare it was cold in the center. Chopped salad was a pleasant surprise. I'd come back just for that. Sides were very good,, it the much touted Mitchell's corn was nothing special. All in all a good dinner and I would come back especially for a business dinner. read more

I guess I had misconceptions about Mitchell's Steakhouse. I assumed it was upscale and as close to fine dining as a steakhouse can be considering things like valet parking, a dress code, cost, and no kids menu. However, I was wrong. On the night that we were there the food was mediocre and could have been rivaled by nearly any other restaurant. The dress code was not enforced as there were a number of people in different groups wearing very casual attire (blue jeans, hoodies, and graphic t-shirts of which was a table of Harley Davidson enthusiasts as evident by their shirts). I was hoping for a bit of refinement in the establishment since it's not something we do often. Unfortunately we left feeling a little bit of disappointment. read more

We were looking forward to a nice meal with good service. What we received was a meal that we would continue to remind the waiter that we hadn't received our salad and then the "begging" for the next part of the meal continued for the entrée and finally we "begged" for the desert to go. Had an enjoyable meal. Food was excellent. But there were two major things that show this place has slipped in quality. 1) They use very soft ice in their cocktails, the snowy kind, not clear cubes. Drinks are cold, but water down quickly. The Moscow Miles ended up like slushies. The bartenders there must be horrified. 2) I ordered oysters on the half shell. They were fresh and tasty, except they were served on a sloping heap of ice with the shells presented on an angle, draining all the precious liquor out of the shells before they arrived at the table. Bitterly disappointing experience. We had been here before the change in ownership to Landry's- with a good experience. After the ownership change, we took some friends to dinner and, at the end of the meal, were subjected to a pitch from our server about some discount dining card. Tried to give the message that we just weren't interested, but he persisted with the sales attempt. I can't even remember the meal- was too scarred and pissed off. I liked the dry age steaks better than the wet aged down the road - and the sides were very good. Our table particularly enjoyed the scalloped potatoes and the sweet potato casserole. We ran the gamut with filet, bone in ribeye and strip. Wine list was very nice and I was pleased with the price of our Stags Leap Artemis. I am very dissatisfied with my experience at Mitchell's Steakhouse! My husband brought me here for the first time last night to celebrate an anniversary and I must say, I am leaving with a bad taste in my mouth. The server is ultimately to blame as he left us feeling swindled... let me explain. While pursuing the wine by the glass list he recommended (unsolicited mind you) a glass of J Lohr Cabernet which he said was exclusive to the restaurant. I mentioned I have enjoyed that wine maker in the past and ordered the glass of wine. Little did I know it was a $40+ glass of wine! The comparable prices for wine by the glass on the menu was $10-14 per glass so when I got the bill... you can imagine my surprise. We had already spent $89 on ONE steak which we split so an unanticipated $40 for a single glass of wine was unappreciated. Second offense was with regard to the Landry Club option to purchase at the end of the night which is a one time $25 fee to earn points at participating restaurants. The waiter told us we would get $25 welcome gift for signing up and an additional $25 my birthday month. He said "you've got $50 bucks to spend your birthday month just for signing up!". Turns out... you CAN'T use the birthday promotion and welcome promotion the same visit after doing some careful reading on the website when I got home. So while the restaurant itself was a nice atmosphere and great food... we will not be returning as the waiter literally sucked $65 bucks out of us with false pretenses. I feel sick about how we were treated and would caution anyone who values money from eating at this establishment. read more

I am used to high prices for quality prepared food, but come on folks, you essentially poured the salad out of a prepakckged Dole salad bag and put 6 thumb size medalions with some grape tomatoe on it and called it a salad for $25? The strip steak was great. One of the best I've had. We also had shrimp cocktail. There were 4 shrimp and it was $19. Definitely skip that. The service is why I'm only giving this 3 stars. After being sat, we waited almost 20 minutes for our server and his trainee to come to our table. We had to ask for bread and extra drink refills. Food came out one plate at a time. We almost talked to the manager but decided it wasn't worth it. As with other reviewers, I thought this would be a nicer atmosphere. Other diners were in jeans, baseball hats, and flannel shirts. The decor was fairly boring. The Top steakhouse near Bexley has a better atmosphere and superior service. That's where I'll go next time. read more

AARRGH!!! Why couldn't they made my experience better? Especially when it's the first time. Boy did we get seated in the wrong table, when the whole dinning room was empty except a booth. The traffic around our table was atrocious, from the waiting staff and patrons walking by in constant stream and one pulling up the zipper!!! Attire seemed to be from formal to athletic wear!! Food was awesome! My steak was generous and perfect on every bite - Steak done Pittsburgh style, not so hot - Lamb chops absolutely wonderful - Desserts were delectable - kudos to Chef!! Ambiance wasn't the best - tables were narrow, not enough room with three at a table or more than one dish, also was stepping on my guest's foot - Will have to twist my arm to get in their again - probably try Eddie Merlot which is just a block away.. read more

Report Card: Mitchell's Steakhouse Overall GrubGrade A Atmosphere: Grade A: Inside and outside, Mitchell's Steakhouse exudes classiness. We've seen reviews that are critical of Mitchell's because of the lack of table linens, but we don't have a problem with it. Personally, I get embarrassed when I drop some sauce on the white linens - it makes me feel like more of a slob than I normally do. Mitchell's Steakhouse was very clean and the tables might be just a touch too close to each other, but we didn't have any issues overhearing anyone else's conversations. We had a very light wait for our table despite having reservations, but unlike Capital Grille in Pittsburgh, Mitchell's only had us waiting for a few moments (we grabbed a seat at the bar and they had our table ready before the bartender could take our drink order). The interior décor was nice and upscale, but might be considered a tad boring since it looked pretty much like every other premium steakhouse at which we've dined. Service: Grade A+: Katina and I had selected Mitchell's because we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and we felt like getting pampered. So, I was ready to really tear apart our service, but I didn't get that chance. Our server, Julie, was worth her weight in gold. This was one of those rare occasions when a server obtains near perfection in our eyes, and probably the main reason we score this category so harshly. She was amazing, and to the management of Mitchell's Steakhouse, whatever you're paying her isn't near enough. Julie was very personable and wished us a happy anniversary without harping on it all night. She had an uncanny ability to not be near us when she wasn't needed yet appear the moment we needed something from her. She made us feel like we were her only table, but I know she had more tables than just ours. The meal was very appropriately paced, allowing Katina and I to have a conversation but not having us waiting for food or drinks to arrive. Our orders were spot on in accuracy, and we could find nothing negative to say about the service. Outstanding. Food/Spirits: Grade A-: Like most of our dining experiences, we started off with drinks and an appetizer. Katina ordered a Blueberry Mojito, which was well-balanced with just a hint of mint. The mojito had a nice strong blueberry flavor and virtually no alcohol bite. I ordered a Guinness because I like how the flavor of that beer complements most steaks and chops. We selected the Spicy Lobster for an appetizer. The Spicy Lobster consisted of lightly breaded bite sized chunks of lobster that were perfectly cooked. A spicy cream sauce accompanied the lobster. The cream sauce wasn't really spicy despite the name, but did have a really nice flavor. For entrees, Katina selected the Twin Caribbean Lobster tails (big surprise) and I selected the lamb chops (even bigger surprise). Katina thought the lobster tails were nicely seasoned and they were served with regular melted butter. The tails were really good, but mixing a little heavy cream with the butter (a la Bonefish Grill) makes the butter thicker and causes it to stick to the lobster better. Yummy, but the lobster was still really tasty. The lamb chops came out as a fairly large portion (I find most lamb chop portion size to be on the small size). Other than a couple of spots that had some gristle, the chops were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. Whereas Barrel 44 couldn't get medium will right with their burgers, Mitchell's Steakhouse nailed it. We has some green beans cooked with red pepper and bacon as our side, and they were simply some of the best green beans we've has to date. They were crispy and very flavorful, and made me not mind earing my vegetables (which is not an easy feat). After finishing off our entrées, we were ready to pack it in, but Julie was having none of that. We scored a complementary desert to share since it was our anniversary, and the cheesecake we selected was simply awesome. It has a nice, rich flavor without being overwhelming like some cheesecakes can be. We gathered up our stuff and headed out the door, but we were stopped on the way out and handed an envelope. Inside was a note wishing us a happy anniversary and a $25 gift card. Wow! We really felt like we were getting individual treatment. If you are going out to celebrate an occasion, we can think of no better place than Mitchell's Steakhouse to spend your money. Value: Grade B: We actually got a whole lot more for our money than we were expecting. Normally a bill the size of ours would fetch a grade of C, but the service and experience were so wonderful, we had to give Mitchell's a B. Watch out though...you're not getting off too cheap. But we can definitely say the at Mitchell's Steakhouse, you get what you pay for (and then some). read more
