I recently called the bakery asking if they had pumpkin pie, this was a long shot knowing that pumpkin pie is seasonal but I was desperate. I really needed a pumpkin pie for a very special event. It was the favorite dessert of the person we were celebrating. I spoke with Chris who said that they make pumpkin pie from October to December. I explained my situation and asked if she knew of anywhere I might buy one. Chris could hear the desperation in my voice and also understood the importance of the event and how special it would make them feel to have their favorite dessert waiting. The most amazing cupcakes! Moist and perfect nook and cranny mix. The decor on the top could be a little fancier but I'm looking for edible and that's what I got. No cheap frostings here! Ordered several dozen for kiddos 1 year bday and everyone raves about the cupcakes. Have gone back since and enjoyed the seasonal cupcakes. This is a new bakery in town. As the name implies, they specialize in cupcakes and these are pretty expensive at $4.50 each. For that high of a price point, I expected gourmet cupcakes. The cupcakes look good but were a disappointment to eat. They taste like cake. That might be a weird statement to make but the mouth feel was too airy to be satisfying. Gourmet cupcakes from LA, DC, SF and Chicago (like Georgetown Bakery, Sprinkles, Magnolia, Frosted) typically have a more moist and denser flavor profile. The idea is that cupcakes need to deliver a lot of pizzazz in a small package whereas cakes can take all day to wow you. In short, the cupcakes from this shop are essentially cake batter poured into cupcake tins. That's cheating in my book. The cupcakes lack intensity and so are nothing but wildly disappointing. Despite their focus on cupcakes, the shop's cookies are the star. The cookies are 50% cookie and 50% frosting. We love frosting so these cookies are great. Watch out here too - they are $2.00 each - and too expensive to gift half or a whole dozen! Remember to check-in for a FREE piece of cake. I mean a cupcake! read more

We used Mix for out NYE wedding for cupcakes and small pies. They are the best cupcakes in town. We can't wait to go back and eat the cupcakes we had that day to remind us of how great the desserts were. WE ordered over 300 desserts for 126 people and there were only a dozen left. read more

Yesterday I had a crazy sweet tooth and remembered seeing that Mix had a blueberry lemon cupcake- my favorite combo of flavors so I decided to drive all the way across town after work. They didn't have the blueberry lemon. This was disappointing but I am not sure if they just didn't make the flavor yesterday or if I was too late since I got there at 4:30. Either way, I still wanted something sweet. I decided on a German Chocolate cupcake and then I saw the mini peach pie. I LOVE peaches; they are my favorite flavor of anything so I got one of those too. The cupcake- yummy! The cake was moist and the frosting was just sweet enough (maybe even could have been a touch sweeter) and the topping was just as German chocolate topping should be. I had planned on taking two bites and saving the rest... nope. Inhaled it. Gone in seconds. The pie on the other hand- meh. My first complaint is HOLY SALT. Based off other reviews I expected flaky, buttery and the perfect balance between sweet and salty. That is not what I got. This crust was so salty I couldn't finish eating it. Maybe it wouldn't have been so overwhelming if the pie had any filling in it. As you can see from my photo, the crust to filling ratio was NOT even. That was very disappointing and the pie will not be finished. Now, here is the real problem I had here. The customer service SUCKS. I walked in and there were at least 5 employees and not a single one said hello, hi, how's it going. Nothing. A couple of them side-eyed me as I entered and that was it. Even the woman who ended up helping me just walked over and said "do you know what you want?" and that was it. She boxed it up, gave me a total and the conversation was over. No thanks, no have a great day, nothing. I personally believe the best part of supporting local businesses is its personable- there's a neighbor behind the counter appreciating you. This was not the case at Mix and that is too bad. I support local businesses who show gratitude and have fantastic customer service- something Mix desperately needs to work on. read more

I have tried the little pies before at a company event and thought they were a little on the dry side. I noticed on the menu they advertised vegan cupcakes so I was excited to go and give the cupcakes a try. I walked in and noticed the huge variety of cupcakes that did look amazing. I asked the girl working for a vegan cupcake and was told the vegan ones have to be called in and ordered ahead of time. This was disappointing because I was on my way to enjoy a cupcake with my non vegan friend so, I did not get to have a cupcake with him. I asked if any of the other items were vegan and she said " yes, all our berry pies are vegan, they just have an egg wash on top of the crusts". Well, eggs are not vegan so the correct answer should have been No, we do not have any other vegan items. read more

Took my 94 year old mother who is in a Walker because she wanted a cherry pie. Upon walking in the staff was rude and impatient with her. Actually the whole vibe in there was chilly. Mix Bakeshop did the cupcakes and small cake for my wedding! I couldn't be more pleased with them. I went for two different tasting and decided on 9 different flavors, to have at my wedding. Everyone raved about how good they were, and wanted to know where I got them. My uncles stated it was the best carrot cake he has ever had!! I loved the fact that you could rent out the serving trys/pieces, who wants to buy serving try/pieces for a weeding that your only going to use once. Just a waste of money if you ask me! Stopped by after visiting the farmer market in the parking lot on 08/23/2020. I decided to try a couple of their pies since they seemed to have good reviews. When I walked in I was promptly greeted and after a few minutes, I decided to try their Strawberry Rhubarb and Salted Caramel Apple mini pies. They were quickly boxed up and I was on my way home. I found the pie crust on both pies very thick, slightly raw, gummy and not flaky at all. The fillings were pretty good, but nothing to write home about and the Strawberry Rhubarb seemed overly sweet. I love supporting local business, but I think I'll stick to making my own pies in the future. read more

One review that caught my eye stated that they needed at least a week's notice for a food order. That no longer seems to be the case. I placed my order on 11/6 and picked it up on 11/7 for a custom chocolate cream pie. Another review I read said their pie wasn't filled adequately. That definitely was not the case with mine, as seen in the pictures I've attached! In fact, when I first saw my pie, my immediate reaction was "holy chocolate!". Seriously, that thing was so full it looked like a chocolate bubble! The filling itself was the best I've ever had for a chocolate cream pie. It was VERY rich, so if you like chocolate, get it! The whipped cream was decent. It had volume but lacked flavor. I agree with other peoples' remarks about the crust. The crust itself was tasty, but definitely not the best I've ever had. It was also WAY too flaky. It did not hold together at all while cutting. Overall, the shop is cute and I definitely had a positive experience. I spent $25 on my pie. I'll likely be back to try a coconut cream pie but other than that, this might be a once a year visit for me. read more

Had cupcakes delivered to my son's dorm at UN Reno for his first birthday away from home. He said that were tasty as well as "pretty." And that his roommates were happy with them also. I sent him enough to share. The cupcakes were a little pricey. I didn't order the mini's because you can only order them in 1 or 2 flavors and I wanted more of a variety. I debated whether to order cupcakes or mini-pies, because he does love pie. I just thought that pie would be a little messy. Maybe next year. I've had their cupcakes before, and yes, they are delicious...which is why I'm giving three stars here, yet today's visit left me disheartened. First, I didn't realize that trying to order something for an event would be damn near impossible. They want you to put your order in weeks in advance, even for cupcakes. So when I entered the store and was laughed at, when I told her my sons birthday party was on Sunday, I felt super let down. They're closed Sunday's so I would've had to of picked up the cupcakes Saturday night. I guess that wasn't enough time, as she smiled and began chuckling, she told me, "We need at least a week." Ok thanks anyway, sorry for bothering you. To Batch I went. I was nervous when I asked them how long of a notice they needed (afraid of being laughed at again) but was told 24 hours is best. I placed my order for 18 cupcakes, with a super friendly person, to be picked up tomorrow night, (who said they'd even deliver it all the way to the Douglas Pool for us on Sunday if we wanted!) In any case, we got our cupcakes ordered, and paid in full from Batch, so that was a relief...just wish I had something better to say for Mix other than prospective customers don't like being laughed at. read more

So good! My boyfriend and I came in the late afternoon around 4:30-5pm and we were greeted with the amazing smell of baked goods. We got 3 cupcakes a good size and still so moist. I only gave 4 stars because the employees weren't so friendly and could be the fact it was late in the day by the time we came in and also even after getting a cupcake for free it was kind of pricey. Finally had the opportunity to take a cookie decorating class with my daughter at Mix. We chose the Harry Potter class, which is technically a more advanced class, but was still do-able for a novice like me and my 10 YO daughter. They did a great job of explaining the steps, troubleshooting as we worked, and encouraging us to have fun and not to focus on little mistakes. Price was good-the lesson and supplies for nine BIG cookies was totally reasonable. And the cookies and frosting are delicious (as are their cupcakes and other cookies BTW!) The lemon chess pie is OUTSTANDING! I cannot get over how good it is- it's my favorite and reasonably priced. The berry pie is quite good too. I really enjoyed seeing the open kitchen for some reason and watching the pastry staff in action. The cupcakes were HUGE and very delicious. I wanted to do something special to wrap up the season for our kid's soccer team. I didn't want it to require utensils or plates but still feel celebratory so: CUPCAKES!
