I hate lines so much that I refused to go to Mixt for a long time. That is, until I realized that this beautiful thing called the internet allows you to peruse through the menu in the safety of your cubicle, select a salad (my fav is the beatnik) or make your own (sadly I am not good at this) and then select what time you want to pick it up. I've ordered from the Sansome location as well, but that requires you to pester the cashier to grab your salad from the fridge. At the Kearny location you're able to grab your own salad from the open fridge near the cashier. Simple, easy, and no fuss. It's really nice to not have to waste your break waiting in line. One other amazing thing is the selection of lettuce, toppings, and dressings. So many to choose from it's hard to get bored. The only thing that stops this place from being 5 stars is really the price, especially in relation to the sometimes skimpy topping portions. Most salads range from 11-13, but can definitely easily make it to 15-16. read more

How have I not written a review for this place. I've literally ordered from here about 29 times in the last month, hahaha! This is one of the many locations in the city, with this being closest to my place of work. The lines usually out the door at lunch time, so I order online/on the app. You also get $10 for every $100 spent, so you feel semi OK about spending a bulk of your disposable income here. Hey, at least it isn't avocado toast. I get the Be Well salad, which is super super good!!! It has quinoa, avocado, chickpeas and other veggies, and I add chicken to it. Price comes out to about $13-14 so it's definitely not cheap, but the food is always prepped correctly and tastes fresh and delicious! Until another salad place takes my heart, I will keep bouncing in to pick up my online order, and maybe some popchips. read more

Not a huge fan of paying $18 for a salad where I was unaware that adding ingredients would add $6 to the total price. I don't eat steak and I added impossible meat to my salad but there was a a piece of steak included also. If I'm paying $18 for a vegan salad I better not find steak in it. read more

By far, one of the most disorganized restaurants in the area, even as compared to other Mixt locations. I have tried placing orders in advance, standing in line.... no matter what, it takes about 30-40 minutes of waiting (on a GOOD day) to get the order once you step foot in the store. I get that with busy lines but ordering online 2 hours ahead of time and arriving by pickup time should not result in yet another 30 minutes of waiting. The employees here are also dismissive and non-apologetic for their shortcomings. Today's experience had the cashier practically doing twirls while losing the idea of her apron while saying "I don't know... we are busy." This was in response to my waiting inquiry. When you're trying to be healthy and have some money to spend, you can come here for a good salad. Despite the high prices, the salads are actually pretty huge and I can personally split it up for 2 meals. Unfortunately for me, no matter how much protein is in the salad, I still get hungry after so my 2 meals end up kind of being one again unless I eat it the next day. I got the Mixt Cobb which has a good mix of a variety of veggies (butter lettuce, cherry tomatoes, avocado and some herbs), chicken, bacon and egg for protein, blue cheese if you want it and a champagne vinaigrette as dressing. The chicken was really good which makes me happy. The worst thing is dry grilled chicken in a salad which I've had multiple times at other places. The bacon was really good too. Don't bother leaving that out. It's worth the deliciousness. Everything else mixed together was pretty good. The dressing was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Overall, come here for a good salad. Be warned to pay the price for it too. read more

I have been a couple of time to Mixt on Kearny and once more at the yerbabuena. and it seems that MIXT has a way of finding and hiring the best of the best when it comes to salads. as i said on another review. i am not a big fan of greens, but everyonce in awhile i have myself a ceasar salad, and Mixt really is in another level. They def last a couple meals as long as you get them mixed without dressing. I made the mistake of getting a cobb with dressing in it and trying to eat it the next day...just don't. Part of the appeal is going in, waiting in line (which for some reason some of them have bad cell service) and watching those salad tossers go! They are so skilled and entertaining. My favorite salad spot in FiDi hands down. There's usually a line out the door for lunch but it moves pretty quickly. I have tried a variety of their salads and there's no bad combination probably because all their ingredients are so fresh. If you are in the mood for a steak salad, try the bachelor! The flavor is there and there's a good amount of steak in each salad. If you want something a bit more filling, try their grain bowls that usually come with quinoa. This is my favorite salad lunch spot during the week. I can get exactly what ingredients I want and feel satisfied every time, but there are a few tips for ordering that may help Mixt first timers: - the line is often out the door at noon so try to go closer to 11am or 1pm if you can - the pre-offered signature salads are the best bang for buck, but I don't think you can get any substitutions; order carefully! - when they ask you how much dressing you'd like, "medium" is basically regular-to-heavy and "light" is non-existent; I tend to ask for something in-between light and medium - be sure to look through the seasonal toppings - not always obvious but they have some pretty delicious ones - the goat cheese is always so clumpy, despite being heavily tossed - get some grains in your salad to make it extra filling; quinoa is my fave - avocado isn't an extra premium topping in a BYO salad #winning While this is 5 or so blocks from my office, it is always worth the walk. read more

An employee here called me a name, right in front of me, assuming I couldn't understand Spanish. This is San Francisco. Assume everyone can understand Spanish. Came in at 2 PM and the place was nearly empty. There were seven employees standing around talking to each other. I waited patiently to be called over and finally I was. There are no signs with salad prices or suggestions like the other Mixts I've been to, so I just started ordering a few toppings. The employee helping me kept interrupting my order to talk to his coworkers and I had to repeat what I wanted a few times. I asked how many toppings I could get and he turned to his coworker and called me a name that I'm sure will be filtered out by Yelp, so let's just say it's a pejorative name for women relating to female dogs. Additionally, this place was disorganized, messy, and unbearably hot. The salads are always overpriced but this is the Financial District so what can you do? I have been to other Mixt locations dozens of times but I'll absolutely never be back to any of them again. read more

Mixt... how I love/hate you, depending on who is making my salad. The last two times I have been here, I unluckily got the same woman. I always get a make your own with pretty much the exact same ingredients, so I know how the system works. This one woman barks at you - "What do you want?! Dressing!? Five selections! Four more! Three more!" and continues down. After I gave her my first five selections, she immediately started mixing - but I wasn't done and I know additional cost extra. But that didn't matter. In her mind, I was done... there was a line and she wanted to get through it. Today's salad was especially egregious. They use tongs to portion out your salad toppings and on EVERY SINGLE ONE half of the amount fell out. The friend that came with me told me that it was "the saddest looking salad" she's ever seen. I basically paid $11 for a bowl of butter lettuce and a sprinkling of toppings. It's just not worth it to me - I want my $11 and 20 minutes back. That being said, if someone good makes your salad, it is DELICIOUS. I love the Mixt Vinaigrette. But beware if the person in front of you says "Oh go ahead, I haven't decided yet." It might be me sabotaging your lunch with the stingy salad maker. read more

I order Mixt through UberEats about 1-2x/week without fail. My preference is always the make my own salad option, and I have no problem paying a couple dollars more to get exactly what I want to construct my perfect combination. The problem is that about 70% of the time, there is an ingredient missing. I get the 5 basic add-on ingredients, add on 1-2 more($1), and add chicken breast ($3). Well today, the roasted parsnips were missing (I paid $1 extra for them) and most of the added chicken was fatty and inedible. It's disappointing to see that the quality isn't consistent and I'm not getting what I'm paying for. Not sure how many times I'll keep giving them another shot considering the multitude of options in the area and I'm tired of being let down and hungry... read more

I come here because it's close to my office. Most of the time, I rather walk further to the one on Sansome since they have more seating. I had their Brooklyn Salad today at this location. The salad itself was kind of bland even with a small slice of Steelhead. At $16.95, it is definitely overpriced for just greens and a small slice of fish. Just so you know, this location does not offer substitute if you take out an ingredient from a salad. The one on Sansome Street does offer substitute item. read more

I order in here and at the 100 California location regularly. Love the consistently fresh and diverse salads! The line moves quick and the guys at 100 California do an extraordinary job of mixing the salads and getting good distribution of the ingredients. This is my preferred salad spot in the Financial District. I see some comments about the prices, but frankly Mixt is on par with what's available in the Financial District in terms of quality for the price. My only issues have been limited seating, and for some reason 240 Kearny doesn't post a visible menu, so the paper menus get a lot of wear and tear.
