Not the best sushi but it's the best by the block from my work. Definitely my go to place for lunch during the weekday. The price is not bad as well. One thing I love most about this place is that if they don't have it on the menu and you request it...someone there well make it for you. I wanted shrimp boat and it wasn't on the menu but one person there knew how to make it so he made it specially for me. Every single time I go there I have to order at least one sashimi of uni. At times they don't have it and it makes me sad but it didn't ruin my lunch. I have ordered: the sushi Lunch meal that consist of some sushi, sashimi and California roll. The sashimi lunch meal that gives you a variety of different raw fish and spicy tuna roll...love this deal Salmon skin roll when I really meant to order salmon skin hand roll but o well. This wasn't not good at all I have also tried something that doesn't consist of raw food. I ordered the rude with eggs and beef. I forgot the name of the dish but it was good. I actually have tried this dish at other location and this place is not as good at the other location but it is pretty damn good. I would order it again. The lunch meal comes with miso soup and a side salad. If you work near here I recommend you to try this place out. It's worth going out to lunch for instead of being stuck in your office. Absolutley love this place!!!!! I grew up in the neighborhood and finally after many years am proud of a local sushi establishment. Relatively recent development in a now busy area but it is truly a gem. The place itself is rather small in size with only a few tables for seating as well as a sushi bar. Pretty generic menu however what wins me over is the consistent quality of the food, the pleasant service and the adorable decor. I have never been disappointed with my experience and can easily say I've been here many many times. It was become a go to in my family whenever we are craving sushi or even hibachi. Although they don't have the large tables with the built in stoves the hibachi they bring to the table is stellar and just as good as those large chain hibachi restaurants. Yum YUm Yum!! I finally found a sushi joint in Deer Park that is close by. My husband and I were hesitant to go in cause on the outside, it doesn't look like a restaurant. It's in a parking lot, okay signing- but don't judge this book by its cover! As one reviewer mentioned- this place really is small.. We counted 8 tables. I have no idea where they even stand for the hibachi, but, for hibachi, i'd rather go to a real hibachi restaurant. This is more of a sushi. The sushi here was good. I was a little confused when the sweet potato roll came out and the sweet potato wasn't the typical orange color. I didn't get any fish so I can't speak to that, but the avocado roll was delicious. Just beware, if you ask for the rolls inside out they charge you $1 per roll. We saw their takeout menu and in the back had a stamped coupon of 15% off excluding lunch. Good deal. My bad didn't read it carefully! Expired back in 2012. Everything we had tried was soso. Don't hate it but don't really like it. I imagine this place is about 1 year old. Parking is inside a complex and easy to find space. Decor is pretty good. Better than the foods. Fish ( sushi and sashimi )the looks are ok but just no fish taste. The tempura has no shrimp taste. The tonkatisu is very salty. Not a vast choice of fish. I had tried to order uni. This is an interesting place, has a classy yet relaxed vibe, and is not what you expect based on the outside. The fish was fresh and very flavorful, not to mention the wait time from order to eating was short. The menu is massive and there are so many options, from A-la-carte sashimi to full cooked meals and bento boxes. On top of all of the great food the staff was also very friendly. The Asian hostess was so rude, me and my friend we walked in and asked to sit somewhere and she said that we couldn't because it was being used soon meanwhile it was empty. Then I asked her for my sushi in brown rice and then she has the nerve to tell me it's .50 more and I can't afford it. Finally she tells me you're gonna pay tip right anyway. I do prefer the sushi places in the commack area and in babylon on the south shore, but right here in the middle in Deer Park Mizuki is a good choice. Before I begin with the negative rant I came here to say let me first lead some warm feedback for the people that work in this restaurant. To those who make the sushi, you are great. I have enjoyed your food several times and commend you on your art of roll making. That positive statement being said I have come here to scold the women or woman who answers the phone and runs the joint. When I called at 7:18 PM on Valentine's Day to order what may amount to as a small pond's worth of sushi for my girlfriend and I for delivery on this holiday of love I expected a wait. In fact during our call I said your stated hour wait to deliver the food five minutes away was okay. I even mentioned to be safe. I called an hour and fifteen minutes later to check in and you had mentioned that it is busy and it would be another twenty minutes. The amazing wine I was consuming put me in a great mood and I actually went along with it. Well, twenty five minutes later I was out of wine and on an empty stomach when I called and had the phone ring twenty times. After hearing a fax dial I called again getting someone else who I guess was expecting me. They answered my concern by stating my sushi was brought to the wrong house and that it would take another twenty five minutes to make it. I very politely let the woman know to cancel my order and to not charge my card. I then stated that I would no longer be a patron at your restaurant. Look, I understand you're busy but you have my number. After the first hour keep your promise and keep me updated. It's absolutely normal for someone ordering food to at least expect that respect from a restaurant. So, I recommend you guys step up your delivery game or don't offer the service. The reason for the three stars is because... my experience wasn't memorable. I know what I ate, and who I was with. I have had better experiences before and after being here. It's just okay. Nothing really stood out. I would have though that because they have access to fresher fish it would be amazing in taste and that is not at all the case. It's just a sushi spot that...is. Not bad at all, but nothing to brag about. In a rush and need to eat something I'd stop here, but not something I'd go back to have a great dinner or even a special occasion celebration. Everything was delicious from the Angel, Americana and Fireball rolls to the chicken teriyaki. In addition they have tempura green tea ice cream which is my favorite!! Plus it's right across the street from the Arches outlet mall so you can grab a nice dinner and a movie. Mizuki offers a clean sit down basic atmosphere with fresh sushi that is reasonably priced and very good. There is no gimmick or something extra ordinary about them, just good consistent food. Hibatchi is available as well but no grills, just the food. Coupons are sometimes given on menus throughout the year. I can't really understand why, but this place is NOT consistent at all. The first time I went there was in October 2012. It was great! Loved it! But then went back in December and it was bland. The sushi rolls had no taste at all! I was so disappointed. So there I figured let me give it another try. Well, I did. I ordered takeout in the beginning of February and it was OK. Then again on Valentine's day we ordered because we worked late and did not have a chance to get out to dinner. First, I placed the order on-line, which I did once before and had no problems, but this time, after the 45 minutes had passed, I called the restaurant to find out that they never received the order. It took me 15 minutes to get through because they share the phone line with the credit card machine. I then placed the order (9pm) and the sushi finally arrived at 9:50pm. The sushi itself was very bland and the rice was extremely hard. I've given it enough chances and will not be going back. I'm so disappointed because it was right in Deer Park and definitely cheaper than other sushi places in Babylon Village, but DOES NOT live up to the reputations of any. Sorry! read more
