First, the map shows the wrong location. MLK Store is at the corner of Clifford Ave. and MLK. You can't miss it! It is covered in signs saying "Milk, Bread, Soda, Ice, Lone Star". Also you can get malt liquor, lottos, and wire money to your friends and family. Now, if you are thinking this store is below your taste is beverages, think again! They even have a few microbrews and organic beers. The people working there are nice and don't judge me for being white on the East Side. The have a BIG jar of pickles on the counter and they told me that it only takes 2 weeks to sell all of them (they empty the old pickle juice if you were wondering - we asked).

The vast selection of cheap beer.

They have lots of beer, cider, wine, soda, and ice-cream. Lots of local and interesting flavors too. The guys who work there are super nice.

Looks can be deceiving. Great selection craft beer, wine, and stuff you forgot at the grocery store.

Living on the east side of Austin, it's a crapshoot in our area for good beer, but the MLK Food Store has it!!!

You walk in and immediately know you are not in some polished Instagram cocktail lounge. It is loud, a little gritty, and full of people who are clearly there to have a good time and not pretend otherwise. The beer is cold, the Lone Star flows like Texas water, and the vibe is pure old school Austin. And yes, the legendary bathroom situation deserves its own paragraph. The men's room features a giant ice filled trough for a urinal, which feels like something out of a 1970s roadside saloon documentary. Somehow it is both ridiculous and perfectly on brand. It actually becomes a conversation starter because you walk out laughing and immediately tell your friends they have to see it and go pee. The crowd was friendly, the bartenders were quick with the beers, and nobody was taking themselves too seriously. I ended up staying longer than planned, drinking Lone Stars and talking to random people like we had known each other for years. If you want craft cocktails served with a rosemary sprig this is not your place. If you want a hilarious, slightly chaotic, authentically divey night in Austin with cheap beer and great stories, Dirty Bill's absolutely delivers. Five stars and I would go back in a heartbeat.

They were spinning some popular tunes. The place was packed with a very fun crowd. It appears to be a bar you come to have drinks and chat. There was a small area where dancing could take place, but no one was dancing at the time. The staff including the general manager was super friendly. It felt like a wedding reception as you came into the club where you were greeted...very warm and welcoming. We had a drink and stayed a short while. It looked like a place you could come for a girls or guys night out or celebrating a fun occasion. Will definitely consider Dirty Bill's for a future fun evening...

I recently came with two friends and we ended up splitting a bottle of their sauvignon blanc which was truly perfection on a warm day. We also tried their fondue and obviously snagged a bruschetta board. We opted to the brie apple fig, warm artichoke, pepper jam goat cheese, and a prosciutto for our omnivore friend. I loved all the ones that I tried but the pepper jam & artichoke definitely stand out as my favorites. I'm obsessed with the whole concept and feel like its the perfect snack to pair with wine. I've heard that they do $25 bottles & board combos after 8p on Monday & Tuesday nights which I can't wait to try!

Smoked salmon, fig, anchovy, and tomato (can't remember that one's name). I requested the gluten free version which I was thankful they had. I'd love to see them offer some versions with non cows dairy such as some sheep cheese like feta. My fave ones were the smoked salmon and the fig. It was so beautiful inside and outside. We chose to eat inside but took pictures on the patio. Servers were attentive. This place even gives a discount to the parking garage attached to the building. You do have to scan the QR code in the garage when you arrive to pay for parking. (I didn't know that until an hour into my dining and my friend mentioned paying for parking so I had to run out to my car!) Looks like they change the flavors of the boards so it would be great to come back and try different flavors. There were some dessert items I saw online that weren't available on the in restaurant menu that would have been nice to try. They also have a wine club if you're into that. Near downtown so you can enjoy the city before or after your meal. My friends said their cocktails were delish.
