I made it to Mo' Bettahs after having seen their IG and FB ads for a while. I love their story, and that they make everything fresh. When I placed my order, the employees were quick to put my plates together and ring up my order. I did take a while to decide, but no one else was waiting to order so I took my sweet time. I feel like the chicken was slightly overcooked as some of the pieces were a bit charred. The Kalua Pig was right on the money! Ivory made this dish before and it is delicious! In addition to individual meals, they offer family packs as well as sides and desserts. I didn't get any this visit, but of course, they have Spam Musubi! They were going for $3.49 a pop! This place is still a little new, but they're serving up some good Hawaiian grub! I do wish they offered Kalbi Short Ribs and Meat Jun, a staple I can always get back home in Hawaii (at similar establishments). Prices are average. This is our 5th visit and it was definitely disappointing. It seems corporate have left from grand opening and the quality of meat went to crap! Sometimes they weigh the proteins and sometimes not. I also ordered egg rolls on the side. I had a BOGO coupon so my total came out to be about $25. We sat down and ate. The grilled chicken was delicious. It was grilled perfectly, flavorful and was served hot. The shrimp tempura was also delicious - hot and crispy! The sides were ok nothing special, and I could've maybe done another scoop of both. I had seen something on Instagram about this place opening up in the East valley, and they sent me a coupon. You can never go wrong with Hawaiian food, so we decided to give him a try. This is one of those places where you go down the line and tell them what you want and they fill out your order right there. The prices are pretty darn good for the food that you get. I chose the mini plate which is not in any way mini. It came with two different meats and two sides. Normally it comes with a side of rice and another side, but they let me get a double side of mac salad instead. Between the three of us we tried the steak, chicken, and kalua pig. All really quite good. The macaroni salad was pretty good as well (although not quite as good as some other Hawaiian places in me area). The spam musubi is packaged so cute with little Hawaiian license plate stickers on them. This is a cute fast food dining room. There are some picnic tables with string lights above them, corrugated metal canopies over some tables, and some surfboards on the wall. Staff was great. When we got to the register the QR that loads when you click to use the coupon wouldn't load. The manager just said it was fine but she saw the email that I had the coupon and they didn't need the code. I really appreciate that because some managers would not be so quick to let It go. Came in at 5 tonight with them being open for a week now, we expected a line so be patient and expecting, they did a great job moving through the line fast. There were several tables available to sit at but we took our order to go and it seemed like a lot were doing the same. I enjoyed the Aloha vibe with decor, the food and even their drinks! No no, with the hand wave, I knew this place was Mo' Bettahs! I ordered two Regular Plates which gave my wife and I the chance to try the Katsu chicken, the Steak, Pork and even the tempura Shrimp. Fist off, he loves the food (I did too, but his opinion is much more informed ), the service was excellent and the place is brand new so it's sparkling clean. But even more so, he felt the Aloha! We have been here probably 5 times at least. When it's good it's great, but when it's not good it's not so great. It's hit or miss. Last time it was perfect and so good. This time 6/23/26 5pm if this would have been my 1st time I would not have come back. The rice was not correctly cooked. It was still hard and crunchy. It was also gummy. Cooked to high of heat and not long enough probably. I couldn't eat it. The whole meal was very Luke warm and my husband's pork was dry. I also asked for 2 rice but got a macaroni instead. We LOVE Mac salad over here. And this was is missing something, you can taste they are heavy on the mayo verse other places like Aloha or Muko. For the price the food and the food selection just wasn't the right fit for us, our kids didn't eat their food and they beg for Hawaiian food almost daily. Wish they cut it into strips though because using plastic silverware to cut it was near impossible. The rice was so so. Kind of bland. Mac salad was decent. A little too heavy on the mayo for me. - Menu is confusing. The "2" plate description states "comes with two scoops of rice". So you pick two proteins and two "sides" thinking you'll still get the rice. Turns out, you were supposed to pick....the two scoops of rice. Because now all you get is the meat and mac salad. Both Moku and Ono give you 2 meats, 2 rice, AND 2 Mac salads... for exact same price. Make it make sense - The shrimp tempura is atrocious and mac salad has zero flavor. - The only redeemable quality was pretty decent chicken. - Definitely sticking with the other two competitors from now on. read more
