Came for the soft launch of the wagyu experience and it was so good! They had 3 different cuts. The American Wagyu Round, American Wagyu Cross Rib, and the American Wagyu Chuck Eye. My favorite one was the Round. Something about the strip of fat at the bottom makes it really enjoyable for me. My brothers and I ate a lot of meat but I can say I got my moneys worth. For the soft launch, pricing was 49.95 with drinks included but after soft launch it'll be 54.95 per person. Not too shabby but I'm glad to see the return of Enoki mushroom by itself and beat believe I grabbed a lot of them. I'm happy to see some new additions like the Yuba Roll and fish balls with filling. Overall food wise was fantastic and can't wait to come back. Service was unbelievable as well. I haven't been here in a long while so our advisor Jess caught me back up to speed on all the new changes and the flavors of everything. Came by for a weekday dinner, had a reservation and we were quickly greeted and seated. It was our first time there and the staff helped us with explaining the menu efficiently. Huge shoutout to our server, i forgot her name but she was super nice and friendly, always checked up on us and got our meats really quickly. Really appreciate the fast and friendly service! A decent variety of dishes to get as well as meats. For soups we got the Tonkotsu Soup and the sukiyaki. The tonkotsu was really good, but the sukiyaki was too salty, so we actually added hot water to it to dilute it a bit The overall quality of the meats were really good. Especially liked the pork shoulder, the beef chuck eye and the beef short plate. Their beef curry over rice were also really good! I liked their ramen noodles, nice and bouncy with a good texture. Their sauces weren't bad, i wish there was a bit more variety, however they had a large selection of drinks! I really liked their melon soda. After reading about the bad service, I was, of course, wary about our experience. Thank goodness Brian was our server. He was awesome! Ask for him next time you show up. He went above and beyond(!!!) what a server is required to do. He had a upbeat attitude, the food was good, and the drinks were refreshing. My partner felt this place's quality of food is better than the shabu place we went to in San Diego. The last time we had shabu shabu was in Taiwan a few months ago. Of course, the standards are high. The food did not disappoint. We ordered lots of beef and pork. There is no pork belly during lunch. Only dinner. The tea was delicious! The jasmine milk tea and the oolong passion fruit tea were so delicious! I felt like they had a good supplier from Taiwan. I even tried their coffee jelly. My partner tried all the teas and the two I listed were the best. I did not have my camera with me since I gave my bag to my partner so I didn't leave it unattended while I went to get vegetables and he put it in his backpack. I also liked they had a curry beef and rice section at the "farmers market" area. The farmers market area has all the fresh vegetables and tofu to put into the soup. So glad my kids were able to get the 50% off deal for kids 10 & under. I did find it strange the signs were in English and Japanese even though most people probably can't read Japanese like I can. Made a reservation in advance to Momo Paradise. It was my first time here, and I was definitely intrigued by the AYCE Japanese shabu concept. My boyfriend and I were seated in a few minutes after arriving at our reservation time. It got pretty packed, so they must have booked up. We ordered the half & half shabu pot soup base , Tomato & Tonkatsu. Went through few rounds of meat and a couple plates of veggies. What drove me here was the unlimited boba and tea options. However, it was disappointing, to say the least. The green tea here had a very bland taste, and the milk tea tasted watered down. I tried the drinks a few times, and none of them are even close to what you get at a boba place. The boba toppings provided on the side aren't what I expected either. No boba, no rainbow jellies. Just agar boba, coffee jelly, etc, which aren't family-friendly, kid-friendly, or regularly enjoyed boba toppings. I'm being harsh as a boba consumer, I know, but I really don't think the raves about Momo Paradise's "Drink Garden" was right. Tasted like they didn't know how to make the Jasmine or Oolong tea. I was really sad. The "Farmers Market" section is where you get the veggies and side dishes. They had curry, rice, salad, and some other dishes to be eaten as appetizers, really. Nothing really stood out in flavor, really. The meat selection had 6 choices to choose from. I liked the simplicity of less meat choices but I expected more quality meat and prettier cut slices. It tasted fine in the broth. I do wish there were more sauce choices, though. The best part was the cookies and cream ice cream at the end. I should note, our server was really nice and attentive. There is a small parking lot and it usually becomes difficult to find parking around noon since there is a church right next to it and people use it for parking. Interior: The interior is spacious and clean. It does not feel crowded. Service: We heard that there would be a long wait so we made reservations on Yelp. Service was okay. We did not have difficulty flagging down a waiter whenever we needed more meat. Food: I went on the weekend for lunch so AYCE was $35 for 90 minutes. There is not much of a selection. There were only six different types of meat and four broths to choose from. We got shabu shabu and tonkatsu broth with all of the meats except for the chicken. The meats were pretty good but only came with about 4-5 slices per order so we had to constantly order more to have enough food for the table. The rest of the toppings are available at the self serve buffet area. They also have udon and curry which went nicely with the hot pot. My friends that have gone before said the AYCE drinks/boba was not very good so I did not get it. For dessert, you can order some ice cream. WAIT TIME: I have been wanting to try momo paradise. I always drive by and see long lines out the door and now i know why. You can make a reservation ahead of time. However, i walked in for a party of 3 on a Thursday at 5 pm with no wait. There was plenty of seating when we left too at around 6:30 pm. However, i do know they get busy later at night so go earlier to avoid waiting or make a reservation. When you arrive you check in with the host and they have chairs to sit and wait inside. It is very clean and nice inside. HELPFUL INFO: There is a 90 minute limit for eating. They charge 18% automatically to your bill for their employees (you can add tip on top of that if you wish). For a table of 3 we got 1 pot with 2 broths. We opted for shabu shabu and tonkotsu. FOOD: when you are seated you pick your broth with your server. They have tomato, tonkotsu, shabu and sumiyaki. The meats are limited but great. They have premium beef (3 kinds, 2 kinds of pork - shoulder and belly, and chicken). The beef is so tender and soft. There is no limit of ordering meat at one time like at other places which i appreciate. You order the meat with your server and grab your own sauces, veggies and such. Other food options include beef curry and salad. Their veggies and pick your own include bak choy, napa cabbage, zucchini, tofu, fish balls, beef balls, noodles, broccoli, potatoes, tomato, kale, mushroom, wood ear mushroom, cilantro, onion, pumpkin, and carrots. The meat quality was great and so tender. The veggies were nice and fresh. The sauce options include roasted sesame/peanut, goma and ponzu. My personal fav was the ponzu. DRINKS: We also got all you can drink for $2.55 per person which included jasmine milk tea, passion fruit tea with red bean and crystal boba. They also have craft soda flavors like melon, peach and shirley temple and also regular flavors like cola, diet cola and lemon lime soda. PRICE: The price is $34.95 per person for dinner/weekends. TIPS: - parking: there's a free parking garage for two hours right next to the plaza - arrive right at opening because there was already a line of people of waiting - there's a divider for the pot if you wanted to try more than one flavor for every pair - you only order the meats & desserts from the server but everything else is self serve - two hour eating limit - the portions are small. Each tray holds about 4-5 slices. Helps with less food waste - there's 4 boba drinks to choose from and a soda fountain My go to broth is the sukiyaki and I love the sweetness of it. I reserved a table for lunchtime through their website, and my group was immediately seated (Yay for easy entrance!). Our server was kind and explained everything to us and recommended us some broth flavors. We ordered the shabu-shabu and the sukiyaki. The sukiyaki was good, but over time the broth got unbearably sweet. The options/variety for this restaurant were very limited. The meat selection had three options. The quality of the meat was decent, but nothing that makes the restaurant unique. The toppings were very limited too, they offered more of the basic hot pot items like tofu, mushrooms, cabbage, etc. I was surprised they didn't offer spinach! This place has decent food and service. The selection of vegetables was pretty decent. Overall taste and variety is very similar to all other hot pot locations. They do offer discounts for kids and seniors, which is a plus for AYCE restaurant. The reason for the 3 stars is their reservation system. They allow a total eating time of 1.5 hours. However that time starts on your reserved time, not the time you are seated. They also won't seat you if your entire party has not arrived. So imagine you reserve a table for 8 and 4 people arrive on time. The 4 that arrived on time won't be seated although their eating timer has already started. How is this right? Why can't they seat the people that have already arrived since the timer has started? The late comers would have less time, which is understandable. So if you're late for any reason, your meal will feel really rushed, not relaxing at all because when you have 25 minutes left, the server will come up and ask for "last call" on orders. Another thing that was irritating is when you get your vegetables, they have these tiny little SHORT tongs for you to use. If you have short arms or you're a tiny person, you can't use those tongs to get the items in the very back section, you can't reach it without getting your face squished onto their partition glass (which everyone elses face has been on). The text message reservation was easy and user friendly. When you're at the restaurant, just be careful at the buffet area, the floor was quite slippery. The meat quality was not as great as it used to be, It was just decent, you can find better quality of food somewhere else with that price point. The broth was not as flavorful. The girl in the front checking in was really rude and having attitude. We checked in on time but waiting for a friend running late before we can seat in. When my friends arrived 20mins later she said we cannot seat because we are late. But the table is ready and empty and no customer is waiting at that time. I told her we can finish within our 90mins including the late time. She insisted we only have 40mins while we still have an hour left. And her attitude is really bad the whole time. We are sorry that we are late but we are willing to finish within our 90mins. Maybe she had a bad day but no one should be treated like this in a restaurant. I recommend adding the all you can drink since it's only about 2.55. They have less options for meat for lunch and during a weekday, but you're not missing much since it's only 2 more meat options. The meat seemed like a good quality and we're pretty lean. We got a split broth base - tonkatsu and tomato. The tomato soup base comes with a side of spicy miso. Both broths were a little bland and we needed to add things to make it taste better. Probably better so that each person can adjust the taste to their liking. It's $34.95 for dinner with AYCE drinks at $2.55. I miss the days before COVID when their price included the drinks as well. Momo Paradise hits the spot when I want some AYCE shabu. In all the times I've been here, whether it's lunch or dinner, we've had some pretty awesomely attentive servers. They're great with coming by to check if you want to place more orders and to take away any empty plates. I tend to gravitate to my favorite broths of shabu and tonkotsu. I found the sukiyaki is good for like 20 minutes and then it got too salty and overwhelming. I usually go for orders of the beef eye of round (leanest cut of beef) and chuck eye. I also like the curry and white rice they have available next to their vegetable / fish ball and meat ball selections. I recently found out on my last visit that you can request for a raw egg for your dipping needs and man was that a gamechanger! Just FYI, they charge a 18% service fee, regardless of table size and they do tend to stick hard on the 90 minute dining time. Brought my mother here for her birthday - the whole family had an enjoyable meal. It's best to make reservations ahead of time if you want to be guaranteed to be seated & eat. With our reservation, we still had to wait about 15 minutes, which was not a problem. They have seats in the front while you wait. Service was overall good. The staff members were all friendly and were happy to explain the menu and process to us as it was our first time. It's all you can eat with a 90 min limit. 1st - you choose your soup base and sauces. 1 soup base per person. We were fortunate to have the numbers to be able to try each of the 4 soup bases they have available (shabu-shabu, tomato, tonkotsu, sukiyaki). Our favorite was the tomato and tonkotsu. The tomato soup base is best enjoyed if you let it cook a bit longer as that's when the full flavor comes out & thickens. The sukiyaki soup base was the lightest soup base -- we felt it was pretty bland, but a good break from all the other soup bases when we need to reset our palates. 2nd - You choose the meat you want (pork shoulder, beef chuck eye, beef short plate, pork belly, beef eye of round or chicken thigh). Note - the pork belly and chicken thigh are only available for dinner and weekends only. We went for lunch on a weekday, so were not able to try these 2 option out. All their meats are fresh. They bring out 1 set of meat each time to minimize waste. If you want more, all you have to do is request it. 3rd - As the staff gets the soup and meat cuts ready, you can go to their "Farmer's market" (aka, salad bar area), which is all self-serve, to get your vegetables of choice, fish tofu, meatball selections, noodles (they have ramen & udon), that you can add to your soup. At the salad bar area, you can also get rice, Shabu udon salad (really good) and beef shabu curry and drinks. They have an assortment of drinks from jasmine milk tea, oolong passion fruit, and other common fountain drinks. We made a reservation for 5pm on a Saturday. I got a text a few days before asking me to confirm my reservation, then one when my table was ready asking me to confirm I'm on my way. The parking lot is hard to find, but if you turn on First street and then into the alleyway, there is a lot with ample parking. My friends were a little late but they all got there before 5:15 so we were still given our full 90 minutes. I did see other parties come very late only to find that their time limit had already started. Make sure you get to the restaurant on time, it seems they have a fair bit of reservations. We were seated in a quiet corner. The restaurant is very clean. They have a large selection of vegetables you can add to your hotpot, as well as individual servings of noodles. The meat options were not very diverse but we enjoyed the beef and pork belly. They also bring you peanut sauce and ponzu in little jars to use in your sauces. For the broth, we chose the tonkotsu and shabu shabu broth. They were not the most flavorful but we enjoyed everything overall. Very good, attentive, and knowledgeable servers. The food was great with the unlimited meats and vegetables. Never ran out or low when I went. Sizeable dining area, great for groups of 4 or more. I was excited to try this place cause its always packed when I try to book it last minute, but my experience was VERY disappointing. The only thing I liked was that the meat was pretty good quality and it was AYCE. Starting with the service, they were busy when I walked in and had to wait for 20 minutes just to a staff to finally show up on the front desk. There wasn't that many people in the restaurant so it seems like they're under staffed or just simply bad organization of use of staff. It's like they dont have a manager on site and everyones just running around. Please train your staff better. I don't mind the wait, but the thing is at the end of your bill you get hit with an automatic 18% "service fee". I cant justify paying for that when the service was disorganized and slow. But I guess that's what happens when the tip is already included LOL and they still ask for additional tips. And no, I definitely did not tip - which is rare for me. But i just had such a bad experience, and I felt like it shouldn't have happened. It's just checking in, nothing complicated. Now on to the broth, it was bland and nothing special. I didnt take a picture of the sides but it was buffet style and consisted mainly of veggies, noodles, rice, and a very few condiments. Their weekend price is $35 per person, so the total came out to around $90 including the 18% "service fee". For those who are curious about this place, it's not worth it. The price no where near justifies what you get. For $35 per person, there are many other hot pot places I been to with similar or even better quality. Heck, $35 wouldve gotten you a nice kbbq as well. Or honesty I rather pay more and go to haiding lao for the same quality of meat, better soup, and way better service. This is my favorite AYCE hot pot spot (albeit the 90 minute limit). Meat quality is great and there is a great selection of vegetables, fish balls, and noodles. Love the variety in beverages too, such as boba milk tea, which is all you can drink too. Super clean and ingredients looked fresh! Service was friendly as well. Would recommend! read more
