I've had their other location (Rowland Heights) bookmarked for ages so when I heard a new one opened up in Irvine, I knew it was finally time to try it. The interior was very clean and bright. Service was pretty attentive and we were seated within 10 minutes. The server did a great job explaining how to order and gave us her recommendation on the meats. We decided to opt just for the MoMo experience, as I felt like the Wagyu experience pricing and value would be better at another spot. They also have an ayce drink garden which I thought was pretty cool, but was a little bummed that you had to pay a little extra for it. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but I did feel like at around the same price point, there are other hotpot and shabu spots that offer more variety. If you don't need a large selection to choose from, then this spot might be suitable for you. I was driving by and this place caught my eye. After finding out the place is a shabu place we decided we had to try this place. We were greeted by a server and seated almost immediately. Our server (i think his name was Kenny?) was phenomenal! Attentive and brought us everything we needed. They had a self-serve bar where we could get vegetables and seafood for our table and a drink bar with an assortment of drinks. The vegetables were fresher than most shabu places. The star of the place was the meat. The meat was very fresh and tasted great after boiling in the tonkatsu broth. We were so excited to try this place out since we recognized the name from our trip to Japan, and the location we went to there was fantastic. For our first visit, we made an appointment and decided to try the more affordable "Momo Experience" along with the Drink Garden (unlimited drinks). First off, the drink selection is fantastic. Their boba-like drinks are very unique and tasty, and they also have a soda fountain. We stuck with the 3 beef options of Chuck Eye, Short Plate, and Eye of Round. Eye of round having less fat, but sliced smaller for easier consumption. Short Plate has more fat and more tender. Chuck Eye is right in the middle, having some fat and just the right amount of tenderness. For our broth, we chose to go with Sukiyaki (sweet soy) and Tomato on our first visit, but when we came back at a later time with a larger party, we were able to try the Tonkotsu (pork base) and Shabu Shabu (just kombu). From light broth to strong, it would be Shabu Shabu - Tomato - Tonkotsu - Sukiyaki. The Sukiyaki comes with a dark orange yolk egg, just like Japan! It's a bit strong, so I would advise to get Sukiyaki along with a lighter broth. Their self-serve bar is fantastic and is constantly being refilled and cleaned. There's even a cool steamed white rice dispenser that weighs and drops rice into a bowl below at the touch of a button. We pleasantly enjoyed the buta (pork) udon salad at the front of the salad bar. The staff at Mo Mo Paradise is top notch. They were very excited to explain their menu and all our options. We had the pleasure of being served by Brian, and have since been served by him several times since our first visit. Brian and his fellow coworkers are what makes this place shine. Wagyu is only available at dinner. Service was promt and pleasant, with Taylor as our advisor (server). She explained the process if you're unfamiliar, as well as the menu items. Very knowledgeable and pleasant. There is also a Fresh Market, or minibar with fresh veggies, some udon and ramen noodles, as well as a very tasty wagyu curry. There's also a fun rice dispenser! We had AYCDrink for only a few bucks more, and was well worth it. They have 4 teas, and craft sodas to choose from, as well as a few mixins like lychee and azuki. My favorite was the Tokyo Melon soda, with a touch of lemon-lime. We chose tonkotsu and sukiyaki broths. The tonkotsu was delicious, while the sukiyaki was a little bit salty. We ended up cooking everything in the tonkotsu, then dipping in the sukiyaki, perfect combo! There are also dipping sauces such as goma and ponzu. New location just opened up a few weeks ago and we had to try! They offer 2 menus, Mo Mo Paradise which will cost you $38.95 or Waygu Experience which is only available for dinner for $54.95. We opted for the Waygu experience (go big or go home). It included the top 3 and all the Mo Mo meat. Service is spotty here since the server is also the one clearing the tables. We had to flag down our server several times for broth and meats. You are given 90 mins of AYCE and they watch the clock so order accordingly. Meats are ordered with your server but veggies and noodles are self serve. They have a cool rice machine that dispenses 50g of rice to go along with the beef curry they have. The curry is good but don't fill up on that if you're paying big bucks for waygu! The only downside to this place is the drinks. They have fountain drinks, milk tea, and tea. However, the drinks come at an additional cost on top of your meal. For $54, just add the drinks! They offer limited toppings and again, you will have to track down your server for a straw. They are the holder since they don't want people to just get free drinks. Overall, the food was good but honestly, you can just skip the waygu and get the Mo Mo experience. The meat had more marbeling and almost tasted the same since you're melting the fat into the soup. Dinner was good. Service could use work. Make a reservation to save yourself the wait. I came on a Monday afternoon. With the 20%, my lunch was $25 and spectacular. The short plate is my favorite. Their meat quality is superb. The meat does not break or fall apart when you cook. I hate that. The pieces of meat are of substantial size. You can taste the flavor, have an actual bite to chew, and feel fulfill after eating. None of that paper meat that dissolves like tissue. I left feeling underwhelmed. To start, the menu options are surprisingly limited. There are only two appetizer dishes to choose from, which set a disappointing tone right away. The meat selection isn't much better, there is just a few options for the meat. We for the upgraded wagyu which only has 3 kinds of wagyu. While the wagyu itself tasted good, the value just isn't there; for the price, Wagyu Factory offers far more options. **(Although fair warning: the service at Wagyu Factory isn't great either.)** The entire meal felt unbalanced, as if all you're really eating is meat. The pot they provide is also too small, causing broth and ingredients to spill over constantly, which made the dining process more frustrating than enjoyable. Service here was okay, but nothing special. What really stood out, though, was the way reservations were handled. They seemed to allow an excessive number of bookings, discouraging walk-ins, yet the restaurant was still half empty when we arrived. It felt poorly managed and unnecessarily inconvenient for guests. The condiment situation was another disappointment. The sauces were extremely salty and kept in open containers, which didn't feel sanitary, and I'm not sure how often they're replaced. They also didn't offer traditional white radish, something I always look for in a more Japanese type of hot pot, or even basic garlic. If you prefer a fuller condiment selection, you'll feel the limitations here. They do have pasteurized eggs, but only if you specifically ask, which isn't clearly communicated. The sauce was overly salty too. The goma sauce tasted good in the beginning but then I started to realize it was way over salty. I usually go to the Rowland Heights location even though I live in Irvine, so I was really excited when this one opened closer to home. I first stopped by in December hoping to buy gift cards for friends, but they didn't have any available yet. It seemed like they were still getting set up, so I didn't think much of it at the time. A couple weeks later, we came back for lunch. We didn't have a reservation but figured we could just wait for a table. When we arrived, we were told it was reservation-only, which felt a bit confusing since there were quite a few open tables. They eventually seated us in a corner. During the meal, the sunlight coming through the window made that table pretty uncomfortable and there were no window shades either. Probably because the restaurant is newly opened. The overall experience just didn't feel very smooth. The self-serve area for veggies and noodles also kept running low and wasn't being refilled consistently. When we got to the restaurant, the hostess/manager Jess actually slotted us in for the dine-in experience despite expecting another 45 minute wait like the other place. She sat us down and gave an in-depth overview of how their menu works and what soup options we had (I think there were 5 but don't quote me on that lmao) and followed up with good recommendations. The service staff were very friendly and were great at keeping the table clear for us. The menu had two different meat options (one normal and one wagyu) so decide whatever option, but I'm sure you won't go wrong either way since the standard option was good quality. They had a buffet section for the veggies and sauces which I thought was properly filled up (though they need some extra tongs for the items) and had a good variety of items. In the end, it was obvious that our top 2 recommendations must be the Beef Chuck Eye and the Pork Shoulder. Super fresh, amazing quality, and of course AYCE! Of the 4 soup options, we picked the most popular combination that Anderson recommended: Tonkotsu and Sukiyaki. Tonkotsu is a good broth that you typically get at hotpot places. Honestly can't go wrong here. The sukiyaki was a great new experience for us! It was more like a salty "sauce" that you cook your meat in, dipped into whisked raw egg, and enjoyed with or without veggies. It's not new for me to eat raw egg, but I felt like the quality of the egg was great compared to other places. A strong outer brown shell with a beautiful orangey (not yellow!) egg yolk. If it doesn't scare you to try raw egg, I loved the freshness of the sukiyaki + raw egg, and would recommend it! We also tried various veggies, udon, etc. I can't get over how pleasantly surprised I was with the udon. It was great because of its soft, chewy texture that was both fun to eat and delicious. My friend and I would both argue that the udon + sukiyaki sauce here makes a better udon bowl than Marugame's! (No shade, but iykyk how overly salty theirs can be). To finish off our meal, we were given the options to try Vanilla, Strawberry, and Black Cherry ice cream. Like everything else we've tried here, these were of great quality, but the Black Cherry ice cream is a MUST GRAB for my friend and me. We're still craving it into the next day! We usually visit their Arcadia or Rowland Heights locations, but this new spot is equally impressive--maybe even better. The restaurant is bright, open, and extremely clean. The ingredients looked incredibly fresh, especially the meat selections. We tried the sukiyaki and tonkotsu broths. The sukiyaki was rich and flavorful, and dipping the meat into the pasteurized egg afterward created the perfect authentic taste. One of the highlights for me was the pork meatball, which had a nostalgic flavor that reminded me of Indonesian meatball. Their two chili sauces were also exceptional. The drink menu is surprisingly good too, with unique Japanese sodas, matcha, and passion fruit options. All the ingredients are imported from Japan, and the quality really shows. The quality of the meat is excellent--thinly sliced, fresh, and exactly what you'd expect from a legit Japanese shabu-shabu spot. Broths are clean and flavorful, not overly salty, and everything tastes balanced and well thought out. The vegetables, noodles, and sides are fresh and continuously replenished, and the dipping sauces are on point. It really feels like the Japan locations where you can just enjoy the food without worrying about quality or shortcuts. Service is attentive and efficient, and the overall atmosphere is comfortable and well-run. We made a reservation for this place shortly after finding out they were finally opening. We used to frequent the old shabu place that used to be here before it shut down during COVID. After months of checking online of when they would be opening, we realized that it wouldn't be, until Momo finally came up on our feed. It's a different brand so we wanted to give it a try to hopefully find our new favorite shabu place. We made reservations and were seated pretty quickly upon the store opening. The server was very attentive and walked us through the menu. We were there for lunch, so options were pretty limited. There is a walk up cold bar where you can grab noodles, veggies and a hot station with rice, curry, and more. They do have a drink station but it is extra if you would like to have unlimited access to their milk tea, soda, and toppings. During our visit, they were doing a toy drive where if you donate a toy to their toy drive, you get a free drink station access. We decided to donate and were able to try the drinks. The drinks were less than decent. They had 4 tea options but most of them were unsweetened, so not that great in my opinions. The 3 or so beef options they had were decent but the quality was not as great as I was anticipating. For the broth, I chose sukiyaki, which ended up being a way better option than their original. Their original seemed a bit bland and did not taste like much. Overall, the service there was great, which is why I am giving it the rating as I am. Unfortunately, for the price, we prefer other locations that have higher quality meat. I am unsure about the quality for their dinner menu since they do offer wagyu, but unsure if it is worth coming back for at that price. read more

Had an awesome experience at Mo-Mo Paradise in Irvine for my birthday We came in with a group of 7 and did the Mo-Mo Experience (around $38.95 per person), and it was 100% worth it. The all-you-can-eat setup is perfect for groups, and the quality of the meats really stood out. The beef (especially the chuck eye and short plate) and the pork options were all super fresh and flavorful. We tried a mix of broths including the shabu shabu, sukiyaki, and tonkotsu, and honestly you can't go wrong with any of them. The shabu shabu was light but packed with flavor, the sukiyaki had that perfect sweet and savory balance, and the tonkotsu was rich and super satisfying. Huge shoutout to Heather and Jess -- they were amazing the entire night. Super attentive, friendly, and handled a big group like ours flawlessly. They really made the whole experience feel special. If you're looking for a fun group dinner spot with great food and even better service, I'd definitely recommend Mo-Mo Paradise.
