Momo Paradise have been my standard for shabu ayce for many years now, they have the basic understanding of Shabux2 correctly, focusing on high quality meats, high quality fresh veggies. The basic of Japanese shabu is very straight forward, kombu broth, goma dare for veggies, ponzu for meats, from here the difference is the quality of the meats and veggies, and this is where their quality shines. Whether you're a purist (like me), or liking the more current style of broths, the main importance is still the same, quality ingredients, and they nailed it. Now, the speed of deliverance is also important, the flow of food in ayce is one of the key point on how enjoyable the experience, I loooove how fast they're delivery on food, whenever we're almost done with our plates, our server asked us if we would like to have more food, and within minutes, sets of new meats are delivered, I can't tell you enough the importance of this, you almost never have to wait. For the price, and what you get, MoMo is absolutely our go to place. read more

If you're looking for a shabu shabu place that truly stands out, this is it. The quality of the meats immediately caught my attention -- everything is cut lean so you can really soak up the richness of the broth. Every bite tasted incredibly clean and flavorful. Their recommended dipping sauce combinations were honestly amazing and made the meal even better: * Ponzu with daikon oroshi and green onions * Goma with rayu and green onions * Raw egg with shichimi and green onions Each one brought out different layers of flavor, and I found myself switching between them the entire meal. They also have a super unique drink station. I highly recommend trying their teas and sodas -- the peach (momo) and Tokyo melon were my personal favorites. Our server Kenny was fantastic. He was thorough, communicative, and made everything easy to understand when there was a lot of info to take in. He checked on us often and made sure we had everything we needed. If you're a curry lover, definitely try their wagyu curry. The flavor of the curry paired perfectly with the wagyu -- comforting, rich, and delicious. The owner Len was incredibly kind and engaging. He shared different sauce tips and flavor combinations, which made the experience feel even more personal. The whole atmosphere was calm, warm, and relaxing. Best of luck not getting NGAN as your waitress, you would get yelled at for asking for water, I guess you suppose to do detailed homework before you come and know that water is self served. don't ask for straws, because she would tell you she has other priorities to finish first, so the second time she came by she had straws in her pockets and I waited until she finish her "priorities" and carefully asked again, since I don't want to get yelled at again, she just left w/o even acknowledging my request, and 5 mins later she brought us straws and just toss on our table w/o saying anything I said thank you and she turned away and of course didn't acknowledge. and the best part is right after you paid and just started eating ice cream she told us to leave because another party is coming for our table while it's 8:35pm (25 mins before the restaurant close) and 80% of the restaurant tables are empty. I guess she really wants to go home? I'm very surprised a new restaurant would let this level of service happen. I usually don't care about service as much, as long as the food tastes good for ayce, but this is just unacceptable. Came here with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday, and even though I don't go out to eat much these days, this ended up being a really solid experience. The broths were clean and flavorful and the meat quality was great too. We had the pleasure of being taken care of by our server Ngan, who brought great energy the entire night. She stayed on top of everything, was super accommodating with requests, and somehow always ready with what we needed before we even had to ask. It made a big group dinner feel smooth and stress-free, which was nice considering this was my first time at a shabu-style place. Made a reservation for 8 during lunch and was seated immediately. The staff were very friendly. The quality of food is great. Their vegetables were fresh and had a great variety for you to choose from. Definitely go when hungry since it's all you can eat. Their dipping sauces were so good. Had the pleasure of attending the soft opening and was very impressed to see that they upheld the standard of excellence and quality among all locations (I've been to Arcadia, Rowland Heights, and Torrance). Service was great as usual as several servers checked up on us multiple times throughout our dinner. Anderson is the man! (Met him at the Arcadia location and he remembered us) The host and staff at the front desk were especially friendly too and made sure our party was well accommodated for. Beef short is my go-to meat, highly recommended. And the curry at the self-service bar is my favorite side dish. I would probably increase the music a little louder, but understandable since it's still their soft opening . Arrived at the soft opening 11/24 at 12:30pm, they close at 3pm mind you. There was a short line in the front, the host did not take any names down nor inform the line that they were fully booked or not accepting walk ins. When I was waiting my turn to speak to the host I saw plenty of available tables too, I know they were probably for the "reservations", but at least section it off and have some tables for walk ins. On their INSTAGRAM ADVERTISEMENT they did not specify you have to make a reservation to be able to eat their soft opening. Everyone including myself was confused, what the line was even for. Communication for this soft opening was horrible. Not the staffs fault I totally understand, but having 1 staff member telling us they did accept walk ins and then waited to the front and being told they were booked and no walk ins are available so it was just a waste of time. Please be very more organized and please inform the line if your restaurant is not accepting anymore customer, so people are not just mindlessly waiting in line for no reason. Edit* I forgot to add this too, I also tried to do my due diligence and try to call the restaurant beforehand to make sure they have their soft opening deal and guess what their Phone service was pure garbage. I would say "speak to staff" to their operator and it would say transferring you now and then HANG UP. Very disappointed in this establishment. read more

So I had a reservation here recently and couldnt wait. I got my parking spot unbuckled my belt and went in, i was ready. After being seated by the hostess I went to the buffet line of hot pot ingreadients and started to get the soup ordering ready. Once it was set, I was ready and ordered the meats, and ordered, and orderd til I got full enough not to need the restrooms. Went down to Irvine from SF, and the first place we went for dinner was back to Mo Mo Paradise. We had such a great time last time (well it was twice on that last trip), we knew this was where we wanted to eat. Walked in with our reservation and was warmly greeted. Said our name and was promptly seated by our host. I took a look around to see if our former server was there, but didn't see him, unfortunately. Then lo and behold, Brian, comes up to our table and say welcome back!! It had been at least a month since our visits, and it was so lovely he remembered us! He even made a point to ask how we were doing, and that he saw my name on the reservation list, and was excited that we were coming in. He even remembered our order and what we liked. His attentiveness and service was on point. We got the traditional broth and sukiyaki, ordered two plates of meat, and made our way to the veggies. We filled our plates with a variety of fresh veggies and tofu, as well as harusame and udon, got our bowl of rice and our dipping sauce add ins (daikon oroshi, green onions, and rayu) and headed back to the table where our meat was already waiting for us! Everything was as great as we remembered. We were glad to see it that way, because sometimes after the excitement of a restaurant opening, the quality goes way down. Everything was fresh, meat was tender, and they did a great job of keeping the veggies refilled, even though it was fairly busy when we went. Brian checked in on us, which is very important for an all you can eat situation, and brought us everything we asked for, with speed (also important for an all you can eat with a 90 min time limit). While we missed our cherry ice cream (the vanilla was very tasty as well, we didn't try the strawberry cheesecake or mint chocolate chip), it was a lovely first meal back in Irvine, and we were so lucky to have Brian as our server. Ate here today cuz of the reviews. Atmosphere and service were exceptional however the food quality was very bland and the meats were cut way too thick. I've had other shabu places like Miyabi and Mokkoji and those meats melt in my mouth but here I was chewing for ages. The variety was also very limited as we only had 3 beef and 2 pork choices for AYCE. I understand why this is 20% off walk ins because without that they would have no business! DO NOT GET THEIR "WAGYU EXPERIENCE". For 55$ pp and it does not include their boba drinks, it was not worth it. There is nothing "wagyu" about the meat, I couldn't even tell a difference between that and the regular meats. Super disappointing because there is no sauce bar, no hot foods appetizer like most ayce hot pot and the pot is tiny! Soup base was basic and not flavorful. You can get a better deal elsewhere since there are so many hot pot and shabu spots in Irvine and its surrounding areas for that price. Left unsatisfied. read more

Had the opportunity to attend their soft opening on 11/21. Came all the way from DTLA for it too. First off, I love the location. I used to live in Irvine, and the plaza it's in is one that I used to frequent (love the nostalgia). The set-up is bright and open which is really nice. My table shared the tomato and sukiyaki broths which were both fantastic! Their Japanese curry is also one of my favorite things on the menu. Our server was also very personable. We were invited to the soft opening this weekend and had an amazing time from start to finish. The moment we sat down, everything felt easy, organized, and welcoming. The broths came out hot and flavorful, and the meats were fresh and sliced perfectly. It's the kind of place where you can relax, eat at your own pace, and really enjoy the whole cooking experience. One of the highlights for us was the Farmer's Market section. There were so many fresh vegetables, noodles, and add-ons to choose from, and everything was well stocked and clean. It made customizing our hot pot really fun, and we appreciated how many different textures and flavors we could mix and match. We also loved the Drink Garden. It had a great selection of teas, sodas and fun mixes to pair with the meal. It's rare for an AYCE spot to put this much effort into drinks, but it really elevated the whole experience. On top of that, the curry rice was surprisingly delicious -- warm, comforting, and full of flavor. And of course, we couldn't leave without dessert. The chocolate crunch ice cream was the perfect sweet finish. What truly made our visit stand out, though, was our server, Taylor. She was incredibly attentive and genuinely kind throughout our meal. She checked on us often without being intrusive, made sure our table was always stocked, and helped explain anything we were unsure about. Her service made everything smoother and more enjoyable. Another great experience at MoMo in the new Irvine location. This is my favorite Shabu restaurant with best quality meats (not to mention AYCE) and the freshest veggie bar (Farmers market) where you grab as much of only what you want, so no waste!
