There was a variety of offerings from full cocktail bar, ramen shop, curro ice cream, and the mochinut shop. Too bad the location was in the basement of Bloomies but still decent foot traffic. While boba teas were presented nicely, it didn't taste as fresh and vibrant as others we tried. There was limited option to cut down on the sweetness level. What horrid service. I asked if they had any pastries without anything on top, she rudely and coldly said no. Then, that same cashier got my son's order wrong. When I pointed this out after opening the box (still right there by the counter), she refused to acknowledge her error and replace the wrong item. Loved my match green tea! Wasn't too strong or powdery. A few other places I've been too tend not to mix the matcha enough which can leave powdered substances clumped up at the bottom of the drink but not here. I am pretty outraged due to the service and the food at this place. The cashiers was rude and snapped at me to the point where I literally didn't want to purchase anything anymore. It is unsanitary how the cashier handles cash and then boxes food up and touches the food items with her bare hands. You can also clearly see into the back where the cook is not wearing gloves. We also had to wait 20 minutes for the corn dog. My boyfriend got severe food poisoning after eating a Korean corn dog. 7 dollars for food poisoning and awful service??? I realize that they seem extremely understaffed but this is truly just ridiculous. I was really excited to try this place because I love mochi donuts. This place only sells pre-made ones in sets. You can't buy them individually and so the least you can get is a set of 3. They didn't taste bad but they were cold so be aware of that. I tried the hot cheetos hot dog too and it didn't taste very good at all. Maybe because it was also cold but it definitely did not taste as good as I thought it would based on just the pictures. The woman behind the counter had a RBF and was rather short with me. It was my first time there and I guess I asked too many questions cause I felt like she was trying to rush me. Maybe shes just one of those no nonsense people. I can see why other reviewers didn't find her to be very friendly but I try to be understanding. On the other hand, there was a younger guy working there too who seemed to be the complete opposite. Love their mochinut here but if you come after 4pm, selection are few. Still enough for me and my kids to get at least one of our favorite. This place used to be so crowded when it first open and was the reason I love mochi donut. But it has gotten expensive and the selection is not there anymore. They run out of at least 1/2 of their orders by mid afternoon. Place is always clean and the girls who works here is nice, a bit slow with the service sometimes but at least nice. Like the other Mochinut location at Fashion Island, the Mochinuts are batch made and ready for purchase. If you want fresh, made to order mochi donuts, then try Modo Hawaii instead at Mitsuwa on Culver. I like this Mochinut location more than the one at Fasion Island because they put cute little toppings on some of their flavors. For example, the peach one came with a peach gummy. I enjoyed the injeolmi because it's the Korean equivalent of kinako, which is soybean flour. My husband was not a big fan, mainly because it's not very sweet. I recommend stopping at Le Shrimp Ramen for lunch (signature trio shrimp ramen) and then go here for a sweet finish. Then walk around South Coast to burn off all the calories! :) read more

Light and full of flavor. We had cinnamon and sugar, tiramisu, peach, original and salted caramel. Peach was probably the most surprising in flavor. It was flavorful without being overly sweet. Compared to Modo, this place only allows do purchases in trios (3, 6, 12 packages); single purchase aren't allowed ( I have no idea why). Service is lackluster and they prepared donuts way ahead of time so they are usually cold, unlike Modo where they make the donuts fresh and right in front of you. There are nice flavors and they do offer Korean corn dogs, and milk tea. Came on a Sunday at around 12 PM, the downstairs area was kind of hectic but we didn't have to wait to go to Mochinut. Got 3 donuts for $9. Would not recommend the cookie monster donut. It wasn't anything special so I wouldn't recommend getting it. The cookie and donut tasted kind of artificial. I really liked the passionfruit one though! Ok...it was hard not to stop by here after eating lunch at K Soul Food. My kiddo and I debated between Churriño and here, but decided on mochi donuts. This is located on level 1 on Bloomingdale's side. The best way to get here is to park in the Bloomingdale's lot across from the 405fwy and use the entrance on that side. Once inside, go down the escalator and turn right (Bloomingdale's entrance is right in front). Besides Mochinut, there's also Le Shrimp Noodle Bar, PhoHolic, Cha Redefine, Mah Jong's by Chef Mike, and of course, K Soul Food and Churriño as mentioned above (Paradise Dynasty, AnQi Bistro, Bruxie, and Blossoms and Brass are upstairs). Mochinut also serves Korean style hot dogs and boba drinks, but we just opted to get the mochi donuts - mulberry and ube. The staff told us that it'd be $8 for two, but that we can get three for $9 so we added a strawberry white chocolate. Lo and behold, she gave us 10% off because we ate at K Soul Food. Not sure how that works (are they related somehow?), but hey, even a little discount helps. The donuts were light and fluffy and yummy. Not sure if there's a huge difference in ingredients between here and other mochi donut joints, but perhaps being near Bloomingdale's, it felt like these donuts were a bit more refined, lol. They weren't greasy at all so they felt even lighter than those at other places. The mulberry and strawberry had nice flavors, but the ube wasn't as pronounced. The base (plain) doesn't have a lot of flavor so those with icing seem to have more flavors than those just sprinkled with sugar. Still, hard to swallow $9 for just three donuts that I can probably eat by myself ($8.10 in this case since I got a slight discount). At first I was trying to figure out where this was located since it's not on any directory. Best way to enter is park outside next to Bloomingdale's and enter, or just walk right thru Bloomingdale's if you're inside the mall and go to the first level. This Mochinut had some nice flavors but I went with the original, cinnamon sugar, and black sesame. I might be in the minority with my excellent review of this Mochinut location located just past Bloomingdale's in South Coast Plaza. My family interacted with the owner (assuming from all the reviews and pics of her on this Yelp page) and she was actually very nice. My youngest was pulling the xmas decoration on the donut display and while I was scolding her not to, this woman actually said go ahead and let her since she's enjoying it. I was surprised since most times people get annoyed when kids are running amok haha. Now onto the food, we order the 3-pack of donuts and one cheese dog (no meat, only cheese, battered with fries). The donuts were very low-key sweet. I actually preferred these to fill bakeshop. Only because the sweetness was low. I think flavor wise they could up it a bit more. O M G.... I didn't used to like donuts until I found these! These are like eating a mochi dessert within a donut is the only way I can explain it because it is kind of crispy on the outside like a donut, but yet chewy on the inside like Mochi. Our favorite was the regular ones that had some kind ofCinnamon sugar and a little drizzle of some kind of caramel on top. It was the simplest one, but the most popular it seems. They also had a white chocolate, green melon, strawberry, and one other that I can't remember. We only got a box of three of the regular ones and immediately regretted it as soon as we were done with the last one as dessert after our dinner! Mochinut is located right below Paradise Dynasty at the entrance to Bloomingdale's. It's surrounded by other small food vendors so it's basically a food hall. They advertised their opening on IG but had a slight delay on their opening day. When they finally announced their opening, they announced a voucher for a free mochi donut if you show proof you're following them. They also offered another voucher shortly after that and offered 50% off their drinks if you DM them. I got the Thai milk tea and asked for extra milk and less ice. The employees were very nice and accommodating, even asking me how much extra milk I wanted. The drink was good, tasted slightly different from what I'm used to Thai tea tasting like, but nothing bad, just different and more sweet. I also got the Churro mochi donut a couple weeks ago, it was really good, definitely more firm than other mochi donuts I've had. Didn't have to wait in line at all but people were slowly checking it out. Mochinut is slowly popping up in other cities so it's definitely becoming popular. I know other locations differ, this is the only one I've been to. I know my friend has been to one where you actually have to buy half a dozen at a time, you can't just buy a single donut. I don't think that's right because you should be able to purchase what you want. Also some locations have the Korean hot dogs. I'm very curious to check out other locations, I know there's one in Newport Beach, Cerritos, Mission Viejo and I think there will be one opening at Ontario. read more

This place is premium. Mochi donuts are super delicate and refined. Very soft and tasty. Top tier donut for sure. Corn dogs are indulgent. Potato dog is so crispy and the sugar coating makes it. Hot Cheetos mozz dog is downright unnecessary. Couldn't even get in to my original dog because I'm too full. Literally perfect k-dogs can't fault them at all. Just know it's a ghastly indulgence. I've came here a few times and never had an issue with service. But today was not it. Mimi is the worst. Came in and asked for potato mozzarella corn dog. I kept trying to pay but she was too busy texting, I had to ask her if the tap option was working because I kept trying to pay and my payment wasn't going through. I never realized downstairs at South Coast Plaza (my fav mall ever) had a mini food area underneath Bloomingdales, so we decided to check it out. I have always heard of Mochinut, but have never had the chance to try it. We just finished eating at Paradise Dynasty and wanted to get some dessert. The donuts presentation looked SO cute and yummy. I love that it's just balls that form the shape of an O and the way they decorate each flavor. I got a 6 pack, with cinnamon sugar, original, and ube, 2 per flavor. When I tell you, I've NEVER had a donut so chewy, and I got addicted instantly. My favorite flavor was definitely Cinnamon Sugar. The thing about me, is that I love when a donut is completely covered, so every bite I got a taste of the sugar, and i can't tell what glaze they put on, definitely not caramel... anyways these donuts are so fun to eat!!! You can either rip off each ball one by one and have a bunch of donut holes, or just bite it off hehe. I have closer locations so when I need a fix, I'll be buying more. Should have read the reviews here before I ordered a drink here for my daughter. We ordered a drink clearly stating "No Boba". They made the drink the first time with boba, we told them no boba. Finally, they made the third drink correctly and said we had to pay for it. We told them twice you made a mistake and finally got it right the third time! I paid for the third drink and told them the money is not the issue, it's the principle behind getting the order right. The Manager ROSIE barely speaks English to work there and is a robot. Only knows a few words of English and everything is black and white for her. No customer service and zero apologies for the mistakes. She is not qualified for her position as a manager for Mochinut.
