I went back for another try at the new Ballantyne location :) They have a new manager she is awesome seems like things are running better I got my ricotta on my pizza an this time it was done right . He scooped a melon size than put small dabs all over my pizza . I told her what had happened before with my pizza she said she was the new manager. She had a great attitude an the staff seemed better as well. Love Mod an make sure you use their app you get points for every pizza so this tine I got a free pizza. This place had been fairly good until very recently. We ordered 2 pizzas and a salad. One of the pizzas was made with all spicy ingredients (jalapeno peppers, spicy chicken, hot buffalo sauce) that we would never have ordered since neither of us can handle spicy foods. We have no idea here they came up with it. The second had the right ingredients but both were basically inedible. Hardly any sauce at all and dry as a bone. Wife got very sick after eating a small piece of the second one. HORRIBLE!!! Will be reporting to poison control Monday. The salad was so very bad. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Wow! Our first time at MOD. ​Greeted when we walked in. Made to feel so welcome! Set completely at ease. Super clean dining room. Very well kept and organized. I have food allergies and I was amazed with the selection that worked for me. Also, not only excellent service, but HOSPITALITY: clean cutters for my pizza .. so completely impressed! The cauliflower crust is awesome and they offer build your own pizza and salad or pre-designed options available. Met Brandon, the Manager... very friendly and courteous! Great, inexpensive pizza. There are lots of ingredient options. I ordered the Jasper (mozzarella, mushrooms, spicy chicken sausage, red sauce) and added a ton of delicious toppings for free. There's a big market for this kind of "fast food" style pizza and this place does a great job of keeping up with the competition. In addition, the service is speedy and incredibly friendly. As mentioned previously, this is the new concept in pizza that is growing rapidly. I experienced the reason why yesterday...the pizza was above average for sure...solid pie. The "build your own" (wasn't this Kramer's idea in an episode?) scared me a little, thinking that the ingredients could be tasteless and cheap. Not so. I started with the Lucy Sunshine and added red onion, olives and roasted garlic. Less than 10 minutes later I'm grabbing a napkin and walking to my seat. A satisfying experience. All for $8.07 plus tax. A more than fair deal for me. I didn't give it five stars because I've had better overall pizza but penny for penny cost, MOD wins. You can drop a lot of money on the humble pizza at some places. Give it a try, and yes, the staff was very friendly and helpful. read more

The pizza here is pretty decent but please put the mushrooms with the other veggies instead of the meats!!! It makes no sense and they get tainted with meat all the time. I'm vegetarian and love mushrooms but my last pizza had meat on it because of where the mushrooms are kept. Yuck!!! read more

My experience has always been good ordering here! Everyone is friendly tho it can be confusing when the staff tries to sell you other items when you first walk in that's the only thing lol it's like just take my order but I know they have to follow protocol anyway the staff is really sweet I like them a lot and the pizza is amazing!!!! read more

I've been wanting to try this chain for a while now since the concept seems to be pretty cool to me. We happened to be in the area and were really hungry after a grocery shop next door. Man was I not disappointed! The ordering is pretty self explanatory, pick a prebuilt/constructed pizza, pick your size and voila, fresh hot pizza!! The pizza crust was thin but yummy. The toppings where fresh and flavorful. I enjoyed the jasper(mushrooms and sausage) and my wife got to try their seasonal pizza(the Lucia) which had spicy red sauce, pepperoni, a dollop of ricotta cheese and fresh basil slivers. Both were done real well and we enjoyed every last bite. My wife was nice enough to share her last piece with me! We totally plan on going back to a more local location by me and bring the family this time so I can get to try everyone else's! read more

I used to enjoy this restaurant as an option until I was treated rudely on the phone and then in store. For having so many employees, none of them knew the menu or acted their age. After having tried the rest, we think MOD is the best. I'm not a big fan of chains but the consistency and quality of product MOD puts out speaks for itself. The dough is made fresh and is super thin and once it gets put into that piping hot oven, it comes out crispy and delicious in minutes. This is another huge plus when you have a 4yr old in tow. We also like it because we can each get our own pizzas. My wife and I like different toppings and our little guy likes regular (cheese) pizza as he says. So we each get our own with our own toppings and always leave happy and satisfied. After 5 visits over several months I can safely say it's a 5 star experience from customer service to food quality. They were training a new worker, fine. Nobody watching him. I asked for mozzarella and he didn't do it. I asked for ricotta and he put a massive scoop of it right in the middle. I didn't know they didn't put mozzarella on until after it was cooked. When I told the lady who gave it to me that it didn't have cheese the reply was "well didn't you watch them make it?" Rude. I told them again I asked for it. Then they just took it back, threw a handful of mozzarella, and put my already cooked pizza back in the oven. They cooked it til the cheese was melted but now the pizza was burnt all around the edges. When they called my name the rude lady again slide my pizza across the counter and said "here" like I was inconveniencing her for them making a crappy pizza. Really MOD pizza? To have a true evaluation of Mod Pizza, you first must try BLAZE Pizza. They both are the exact same concept, which is build your own, meaning you go down a line telling the servers what various ingredients you want on your pizza. Living in Ballantyne, Mod is three miles away, while Blaze is near uptown. However...... the drive to Blaze is worth the tasty pizza you get vs Mod. Crust and ingredients are a much better quality at Blaze, so your pizza has a decent, even pleasant taste. Personally, I prefer Chicago pizza, but Charlotte's not Chicago, so Blaze affordably satisfys a quick fix for "decent" pizza. Didn't say Blaze is the best pizza in Charlotte, as there is definitely better pizza otherwise, but we're comparing Mod & Blaze. This was our second time at Mod. Bottom line... the crust has NO flavor, very much like a thin, unsalted cracker. Thin. The ingredients are of average flavor, even if you season it more after you receive it. Just my opinion, but it's way less taste that will leave you no memory to want to come back for more. My first experience with Mod was in Tampa several weeks ago. Same experience there, except I felt the first experience was not the one to judge from and was to be taken lightly. In addition, they yell "Hello!!" when you come in, but it's not a genuine thing. It's a forced practice. Makes me feel more like I'm at Chucky Cheese than a place with tasty food. Mod is clean, and has something to offer, but it's just not for me. Mod's character and product seems to be more for teens, who just want quick, mediocre food, then move on. Blaze doesn't yell, and also has more of an adult/young adult environment, although teens frequent their business too. They also have more cheeses and ingredients which is why I think your pizza winds up with a better flavor each time, offering you more variety. Try them both. I received a coupon in the mail for a free 11" pizza. They said "try us" to promote the new concept/location. I called on way home from work, but didn't have coupon with me. I tried to order 2 pizzas on way home from work. I said "I have the coupon but it's at home", can you approve for one free pizza - I'll pay for the second"? They said No. I told them, I'm trying you for the first time - can you approve without coupon, I live around the corner. This location is open despite it showing online that it's temporarily closed. I placed an order online (at 12:04pm) for curbside delivery and called when I arrived (at 12:12pm) to let the restaurant know I was there to pick up my order. A guy answers the phone and tells me it will be awhile because they just opened, but someone will bring it out once it's ready. At 12:40, I am tired of sitting in my car waiting, so I walk into the restaurant to see what the holdup is. My pizza is just sitting on a table. No one ever brought it out to my car. The same guy who answered the phone first tells me it wasn't curbside. It just showed that it was an internet order when the ticket clearly says, "Curbside." Then I tell him I called to let them know I was outside waiting as instructed. He then proceeds to tell me they were too busy and didn't have time to bring it out. Terrible customer service. Went this evening and it's still just as yummy as I remembered. So fun to customize your own pizza - the prices are great - same price no matter how many toppings you desire.
