I had points that were going to expire in a couple of days, and since I happened to be in Rolling Hills Estates to catch a movie, I figured I could stop by this MOD Pizza to see how it compares to the other locations I've been to before. The Long Beach location is closest to me, and it's been a pretty solid location in the ~8 years it has been there save for a couple of pretty bad experiences. This location in Rolling Hills Estates is in Peninsula Shopping Center on the southwest corner of Hawthorne and Silver Spur. It's a pretty large shopping center over there, but just know that MOD Pizza is directly across from Pavilions. With MOD Pizza Rewards, the best reward is a free menu item for 150 points; this is because the free menu item includes a Mega Thick Crust Pizza or a Mega Salad, both of which can feed at least 2 people. From my experience with salads at the Long Beach and Downey locations, I can agree that a Mega Salad can feed 2 people, but here's a hot tip I'll bury in this review if you're still reading: you can request for your salad to be prepared in a stainless bowl. That way, the salad doesn't come out layered, and *if you're lucky*, a Mega Salad can actually get you more than 2 meals worth of salad, which comes in handy if you want to bring lunch to work the next 2 days. You can also ask for croutons and dressing on the side as well as a couple of empty MOD-size bowls to go with your Mega Salad. This is one thing I like to do to meal prep for the week ahead. Notice how I encompassed the prepositional, yet also conditional, phrase with asterisks? Keep on reading. I arrived at about 5 PM on a Sunday, and there was just one customer waiting in line to order, though he was also looking at the menu while waiting for his turn. I still had to wait about 5 additional minutes even though they had ample staff working that day; I guess they were also busy with online orders that were coming through? But even during my wait, one of the employees erroneously and prematurely said he was ready to serve me when he actually wasn't, thus pulling my leg and making me wait even longer. When it was my turn, I asked a different employee if I could get a Mega Salad prepared in a stainless bowl. However, he interpreted that as my ordering for here and eating my salad inside when I wanted to order to go. After some back and forth, he finally understood what I meant and started to prepare my salad. I like ordering most every topping on my MOD salads with the exception of artichokes and anchovies. I also asked for croutons on the side, but instead of fetching a small plastic container, he put the croutons in a water cup and sealed it with plastic wrap. Like, really? Not very professional looking if you ask me. For the dressings, he did ask if I wanted them on the salad or on the side; I requested on the side. I asked for three different vinaigrettes, and he got one of each for me initially until I asked for a second cup of each to go with my salad, which was no problem at all. He didn't seem like he wanted to be working on that Sunday evening as he pretty much exhibited a monotonic facial expression while building my salad. Also, I noticed that he had immense trouble fitting my salad into the container, so he pretty much had to shove the salad as far inside as he could so he could secure the lid on top. At first, I thought that because I requested most every topping in my salad, he built my salad to the maximum portion size possible. Not the case here, unfortunately. When I got home, I noticed that the Mega Salad I had asked for was actually a MOD-size salad! I could tell because I compared the salad bowl with the size of the empty bowls I requested, and all three bowls were exactly the same size! As a result, the salad I received didn't fully fill the two MOD-size containers, so I got much less salad than I expected. So in essence, I used my free pizza/salad reward on a MOD-size salad when it would have worked on a Mega Salad as well. You can imagine how much unhappier I would have been had I actually paid for a Mega Salad only to get a MOD Salad instead. Even though it's only a $2 difference, it's a significantly much larger difference in portion size. With all these aforementioned shortcomings, I almost thought about giving 2 stars without even trying the salad, but I'll award the third star because the salad tasted great when I saved it for lunch the following day and even the day after! I just wish I didn't have to cook dinner when I got home because I was already planning on saving the salad for lunch those next two days. If their salads are any indication of how good their pizzas are, I'd totally make a return visit if I lived in or around the area. Unfortunately, I don't really have much reason to return to Rolling Hills Estates, so I doubt I'll return to this location.

Mod and blaze pizza are chains that offer subway sandwich like food models- you can "personalize" the pizza as you go along the counter. The pizzas are super thin and they cool fast The staff seemed universally friendly. They have indoor and outdoor seating Lots of families and kids Note: no utensils. You eat with your hands

We like MOD which is similar to Blaze and other fresh cooked to order in less than 10 minutes thin crust pizza parlor chains. Our pizza was delicious! The service was quick and parking is easy.

Highly recommended if you haven't tried! This is our go to place for pizzas! Everyone gets exactly what they want with prompt service and comfortable setting. I typically get the Mad Dod (meat lover option), and then customize from there. My wife likes thick with Mega dough ($2 more), and she piles different vegetables. Our daughter loves pineapples so she adds them to hers. Tip: you can request arugula on top afterwards and it's great

Wonderful staff. We are teaching the kids to order and Gary was so patient and gracious. Thank you!

I love the unlimited toppings. The kids working here are always courteous and helpful. Last weekend we sent the kids in and I came and watched from afar. We wanted to teach them how to independently order and pay. Gary was so kind to them. He slowed down and made them feel heard. The kids were confident enough to order and pay for their pizzas and even when they came out he made sure they got their pizzas. Thanks Gary! The service and cleanliness is 5/5. The pizzas are good. This one is definitely better than the other make your own pizza chain. The sauces are better(except I'm not a fan of the Alfredo here, the marinara and pesto are my faves here), the toppings are far superior and you can add whatever and however much you want. Love the set up and the efficiency. Even when it's really busy, it never takes over 15 mins to get your pizza.

We Love Mod Pizza because it's a whole concept that customers/supporters can embrace. And the pizzas are delicious and custom-made by you. We take the Caspian pizza as our base. I'm a vegetarian who can be satisfied at Mod Pizza because they have non-dairy cheese and plant-based meat. At this Mod Pizza, our pizza preparer made a mistake and put dairy chess on my crust, once I made it known, he offered to make another pizza and it was very good. The pizza was baked to perfection resulting in a mouth-watering 10-out-10 pizza experience. The ambiance is casual and friendly.

The two stars are simply because the food itself is fine for what you're paying. What wasn't fine was it taking 18 minutes for the staff member to put together the one pizza in front of me. What also wasn't fine was the same staff member using the same gloves to touch the meat, then touch the vegetables, then touch his nose before retreating to get more dough. I understand you get what you pay for, but MOD isn't cheap. There needs to be better sanitation, better management, and more emphasis on efficiency.

For a fast food pizza parlor, this place is great. And at a flat price, you can get as few or as many toppings as you want. I opt for the cauliflower crust. It's an extra couple dollars, but why not. When you're in line, you choose your crust, choose your sauce, choose your toppings, and they put your pizza in a fire oven. It cooks for approximately 20 minutes. When it's ready, they either place your pizza on a plate, if you're dining there, or place it in a box and call your name at the pick up area. I also ordered a flavored tea. They offer that, along with plain and flavored lemonade, in addition to the usual fountain drinks. They also sell beer. I downloaded the phone app so I can order beforehand. They have a lot of seating, both indoors and outdoors. *Note: Because this location is across the street from the high school, it gets seriously busy during lunch. There are crowds of high schoolers dining here. Looks like lunch lets out at 11:30AM. Parking wise, there's plenty of free, shared parking. But again, if you come here during lunch on a weekday, be prepared for the nightmare traffic in the parking lot. You would think a concert just let out or something.

MOD Pizza it's a really great pizzeria. What they offer is truly unique, create your own, pizzas, where you can add all kinds great toppings onto any pizza and they offer these pizzas for a very reasonable price. Whereas most pizza parlors do things like charge you a certain price for one topping, two toppings, three toppings, and so on, MOD Pizza is not like that. You pay for the size of the pizza you want and then you can put as few or as many toppings on it as you want on it. They also give you a great selection of cheeses and sauces. They also have other items such as salads and things like that. But, as I have never had any of those, I've only eaten their pizzas, I will keep my comments to what I know. This is really a great place to get to-go pizza. They also have a nice interior section as well as tables on the outside but, I will say, you really have to be careful when you come here. For example, if you come here around lunchtime, the place is inundated with high school students. Certainly, we were all high school students once upon a time, so we understand how they behave, meaning it can get pretty crazy in there during lunchtime. Just keep that in mind if you plan on going there for lunch, because it may not be quite as quiet and enjoyable as during other times of the day. Overall, great pizzeria.

Poor examples of customer service. Pizza doesn't have to be a career for you to treat customers appropriately!

Despite living in PV for 10 years, I hadn't visited this place until I was simply tired of my usual dining spots. As a first timer, we ordered the pizza, lasagna, Cioppino, and the house salad. Everything was fantastic! The Cioppino seafood stew was the highlight. My husband has been craving for this specific flavor since our trip to Italy, and he immediately declared it was the authentic taste he'd been searching for. I must also agree with others about their incredible house salad dressing. It's truly amazing, with a unique tomato-based flavor that sets it apart from a typical balsamic vinaigrette. The pizza was excellent--not greasy at all. It reminded me of the homemade pizza you would find at a local Italian restaurant in Italy. The best part was how satisfied I felt after the meal--my stomach was full but not stuffed or heavy. That's the feeling I get when I eat in Italy. Many Italian restaurants in the US are too greasy and too salty. This place is authentic, tasty, and freshly made and very reasonably priced. I will definitely be back to try more of their food!
