I really want to like this place but damn everytime we come in its consistent about being inconsistent. Meaning the way your food is made and cooked is way off. Not really close to what we had last time. The turnover in staff is the main culprit. It feels like there was a 4 month stretch every few weeks we come in 6 out of the 7 are new faces. They have 2 excellent employees and when they are here it feels like things run right but when not its just a crap shoot. The staff is generall really nice despite the inconsistency The concept is good and when executed right it tastes good and you leave happy. The outdoor seating area is a nice touch especially on a nice day. Way to go on restaurant lay out for this type of food. If you want good lemonade both flavors are excellent maybe a tad too sweet. I reallllly wanted sushi today but my stomach wanted pizza and so pizza it was. I usually just order the Lucy sunshine as is but I added chicken, pineapple, and jalapenos today. The staff are always so nice! Anyways, apparently one of the guys put a little dent in my pizza ( did not look bad at all ) but they went ahead and made me another one just because of a little imperfection. I really didn't need the second pizza but they insist and so I left with two pizza. Muahaha and to think I wanted sushi today. Really amazing service. We are from San Diego which has a pizza place with the same concept that I eat at every week, so I had to try this place. The staff was so friendly! We told them we were not from the area and they gave so many great suggestions of places to visit. We liked the double crust option and the gluten free pizza was larger than other custom pizza places I've been to. The veggies tasted fresh and the meats were good. The pizzas came fast too and were even well done - just the way I like it. They must have a really good oven? Our two pizzas were delicious!! I even saved a few slices and ate it cold at the airport and it was still good lol. Didn't really care for MOD pizza - their crust was tasteless and the toppings didn't taste fresh. I've been to these kinds of restaurants in the past and any weird concoctions usually work, but with the MOD Pizza crust, sauce, and toppings - It tasted super gross. The sauce and crust specifically had no seasoning or flavor to it. Two very important parts of a pizza. This location is where the old Ivar's used to be. I'd driven by a number of times but didn't stop in until my kiddo said this would be "the spot" for birthday dinner. As some have said in reviews, this is a good place for kids. If kids are not your jam, there's enough seating where you can put some distance between you. The staff was very friendly. I had some challenges coordinating the orders of 6 people - pizza, salad, strips, drinks, etc. The staff was patient and I let a number of folks go in front of us until we got it together. Pizza - pretty much like every MOD I've been to. It's not gourmet but when you need it fast and your way, it's the perfect solution. I love thin crust and if the pizza makes my kiddo smile...well, that's all I need to know. They're also great at making substitutions - pick one off the board and customize by removing or adding toppings. Salad - We got two different kinds of salad. They were good, but not great. The family size is big enough for 3-4 people to share, provided they're eating other things. The regular size salad is enough to fill one. The caesar salad was big and they let you add more toppings if you want. However, the dressing could have been better. Drinks - They have a nice selection of bottled drinks. I prefer the fountain drinks, specifically, the iced teas. We sat at a large communal table. There's also outdoor seating for warmer weather, bar stool seats, and smaller tables. I really love this Mod Pizza. Mod is a personal style pizza which you order exactly to your liking (No extra cost for toppings so pile on as much as you can imagine!). Pizza is fire baked and comes out within a few minutes. The prices are incredibly reasonable (8$ for your own pizza with an infinite amount of toppings). I love being able to customize my order and get exactly what I'm craving without having to worry about agreeing with the rest of my party on the toppings. The staff have always been AMAZING and so friendly to me. They have no problems explaining the process to new comers and honestly don't judge you for what you put on top of your pizza. (My boyfriend ordered a RANCH and tomato sauce pizza, EW!) I have been coming here all year and have never had a bad experience. My pizza has always come out in less than 5 minutes and the line may be daunting, but moves so quickly. I've tried other similar style places before where the line took FOREVER, but the staff at the Ballard Mod really know how to keep customers happy and moving. Was driving by a few weeks ago when I moved into the neighborhood and noticed there was an opening soon sign. When I read that it was MOD Pizza I got very excited as I have loved all of their other locations that I've been to. They all have the same pricing, and I happen to go in there with a friend on the grand opening day in which they were donating money from each pizza to the food bank or a shelter or something like that. It's not remarkably good and the quality of the meat isn't the same as what'd you'd expect from Pagliacci's or Ballard Pizza Co. We like that each person can have exactly the toppings that they want. It seems like a good deal ($18-ish for two pizzas), but I'd rather order a Pagliacci's large for about $10 more, feed two, and still have a couple left over slices for the next day - and with better quality meat. With Mod Pizza, you're gonna get your food significantly faster than delivery though -- but you have to get dressed and go out to eat it at their restaurant or to get it... I won't seek it out but my husband likes it so I'll probably go again at some point! read more

The concept of Mod Pizza is great. You pick the ingredients, they make it in front of you and put it in the pizza oven. Then you either eat in, take out or an Uber driver delivers it to you. The only difference between Mod pizza and a pizzeria are three things that I observed. First the toppings vary. You actually have choices of vegetables for your pizza. Doesn't mean more just more choices. Secondly, you can have a root beer float with a free refill. And lastly, all the prices are reasonable and end with a "7". (I guess that's four reasons.). The pizza was good and the salad was good. But mostly, would I come back? Sure because I like vegetables and you get more vegetables here then other pizzerias. PS. Overheard an employee while making a customer's pizza and adding pesto sauce: "She ordered it lactose free, but if she's too dumb to know that we put cheese in our pesto then that's her problem." So if you have an allergy I wouldn't trust a bunch of underpaid high school students to actually look out for you. Same thing applies to their gluten-free options; they couldn't care less and are really sloppy. BTW there are plenty of lactose free pesto recipes so maybe you ought to stop poisoning your customers. read more

This is definitely one of the most successful chain restaurants in the entire country. The ingredients here are usually fresh, which is not easy with all the veggies and sauces. All the staffs here are friendly and never cut back on the amount of meat that goes on your pizza. I am not exactly sure how the high standard is maintained because the staff members change quite often. My preferences had always been the meaty type like Jaspar, but the Caspian has become my favorite lately. The salads really just depend on how fresh the ingredients are. Although I never ordered them personally, my acquaintances like to have a healthier option even though the calorie counts here are comparatively lower than other places. Me, on the other hand, is not really counting calories so I usually get a float to go with my pizza. It's basically some ice cream then you add the root beer yourself. It's not much more expensive than a fountain drink and you can also get a refill on the ice cream. This one time I decided to write a review, unfortunately, the actual dough wasn't done correctly. The shape was not a uniform circle and after it's cooked some of the dough was overcooked simply because it was so thin near the edge. I was worried that the onions would be raw since the pizza came out rather quickly, but they were actually done and paired well with the chicken and the BBQ sauce. Kudos to the MOD team for keeping calm on a busy Friday night, during a pandemic. Yes, my pizza was 30 minutes past the pick up time but there was half the staff when I arrived for pick up. I could see a ton of online orders coming in as all the staff was actively prepping, cooking, cutting, and boxing pizzas. It wasn't like anyone was sitting around, so I totally understood how orders could be pushed out on a busy Friday night. I was super impressed how everyone kept their cool and stayed positive under the pressure of eagerly awaiting customer eyes. And I could see customers getting impatient. For that alone, I give 5 stars. Honestly, if you have issues with a wait and want to give any staff attitude when you can see they're working hard to serve all customers - then don't go here. They are doing their best while everyone else is at home not working. I usually really like this place. Last night I ordered online for pickup. Something had gone wrong and the place was chaos. Orders were not being prepared in order. After waiting an hour and 20 minutes with my order no where in sight, I cancelled it and went to the grocery store for grocery store sushi instead. After already giving the wrong pizza to a person in front of us, the oven team then repeated their mistake when they gave my husband the wrong pizza. Because I love thicker crusts... I opted in for a salad and it was decently good, I'd say it wasn't bad at all! My boyfriend LOVES this place. He always boasts about it, "I love MOD pizza!" He is probably a super regular here. He probably would give this place 10 stars. But for me, I think 3 is fair. I wasn't in love with it. But the salad was still good.
