Coffee is excellent! We got the chocolate and almond croissant and blueberry muffin. The croissant were just okay. They didn't taste fresh at all. They weren't as fluffy (granted that I had Ariscault Bakery the prior weekend, which blew my mind. So I had to compare this with). Blueberry muffin was apparently one of the popular items, but it was also just okay. Blueberry's were all at the bottom of the muffin. Lastly, service could be improved. What a truly disappointing experience. What I consider my favorite breads (original location St. Helena) I've long waited to try the new location right in my hometown. The place has terrible decor (oversized furniture and poorly laid out), loud, but most unfortunately was the terrible food. English muffin was so stale and dry. Where is the buttery, airy yet crispy muffin, I've come to love??? Plus the prices at this place is crazy even for Walnut Creek prices. So so sad, I have to drive to get my muffins. Have been meaning to try model bakery for some time but the lines in Napa are insane. When I found out that they opened a location nearby I was super excited! Luckily we arrived on a day where the line was super short. The sandwich was a 10/10. I do feel like it was a tad messy but only cuz it was so flaky that in some areas it kinda fell apart but still really tasty. The coffee I was disappointed in. We love the model bakery in Napa. I've gone to this new one in Walnut Creek twice. The first time I didn't have the best experience with the barista the cashier was awesome. On my second visit, I was meeting a friend for lunch and the cashier as usual was awesome but this time the barista was nice too. I got the amazing avocado tartine with egg salad. Oh my gosh, it tasted so good. I put mine on the English muffin because I love their English muffins. The place was about halfway full, but I could see how it could fill up quickly because it's not super large. It has an inside and an outside. I like it. I say check it out. read more

I visited this location on a Friday around 12:30pm... parking was a little bit of a nightmare, I circled a couple of times and ended up parking in a garage a street over... They serve breakfast and lunch and offer a robust bakery line up of pastries and desserts fit for consumption immediately or for take home. Model Bakery is new to Walnut Creek. Perfect addition to North Main Street, as there weren't any tasty breakfast spots before. They're open as early as 7am. Ordered my husband a Carnitas Breakfast Burrito via yelp/toast app. He mentioned the helpful man he met upon pickup. Who kindly warmed his chocolate chip cookie with walnuts, which he described as: "soft, sweet, flavorful, mouthwatering deliciousness". The wrap was filling, a perfect choice for breakfast. I do see that they have gluten free items on their menu, I am concerned about cross contamination so I avoided ordering for myself. I had walked in to ask a few questions a couple of weeks ago, but there was a woman behind the register, yelling at people to go outside and scan the QR code for the menu. So I just left. I started at the location in St. Helena and was super excited to find out I wouldn't have to drive that far anymore for my favorite english muffins. Came here for breakfast. Has the english muffin breakfast sandwich with bacon and coffee. My husband also had their honey bun. This location is bigger than their others, so there's lot of room to sit. The awesome thing about it is that their buns are their English muffins! It's so good! The meat itself is very juicy, so be prepared to get messy. Seating can be a bit challenging as it's not that big inside. There are a few tables outside. As you enter, there is a kiosk to the left where you can order from. Came here around Saturday at lunch and was pleasantly surprised that their was no line. I brought my out of town friend here because she loves Oprah and we heard about the famous english muffins. We ended up getting two lattes, the Mediterranean wrap and the tri tip sandwich. The tri tip was amazing. The bread was so soft and there was so much flavor. 10/10 would order again. So glad that Model Bakery is now in the East Bay. We came on a rainy Saturday and the line wasn't too bad but it was still pretty busy. It took awhile for us to get our order but luckily we were able to snag a table while we were waiting. We ordered a breakfast sandwich and English muffin with jam. And of course we had to grab a bag of English muffins to go! We also tried their pistachio cookie which was pretty good. Shout out to Shawn who took care of us! He was super friendly and didn't rush us as I decided on what I wanted. Tip: Parking could be a bit challenging especially on the weekends. I have been wanting to try this place out ever since they opened a Walnut Creek location. Prices are reasonable for baked goods. I tried the spinach feta croissant and bought a few cookies as well. The peanut butter chocolate chip cookie was delicious. I also got the chocolate espresso cookie which had the really good coffee flavor. Maybe my rating is low because I had such high expectations but man these pastries were average to below average. My morning bun was super lopsided and was missing the core base with the caramélized cinnamon sugar goodness, and the chocolate croissant had a bar or two of very hard chocolate encased in what tasted like a day old croissant. Actually both tasted day old--a little dried out and no buttery flaky moistness. And for them to sell such a terribly formed morning bun is horrible service--no quality control! Service was not friendly at all. The English muffins may be tasty but also quite greasy. Overall it would take a lot to make me want to come back and wait in any sort of line for these overpriced items. The peach prosciutto I ordered was incredibly tasty. A great, warm breakfast. Employees were also extremely kind and friendly! I spilled a whole glass of water (sorry!) and there was no fuss about it at all, they were very happy to help. The dude who served our table even gave me a new knife when he noticed what I ordered so that I could cut my toast easier. A small gesture, but it meant a lot! The line was about 4 people long-not bad at all. My order was taken in under 5 minutes. I ordered a cup of coffee, 3 6-packs of English muffins, and the Original breakfast sandwich. I had the chicken Waldorf sandwich, the banana muffin, a mini baguette, and an English muffin. The sandwich had a wonderful balance of fresh fruit and veggies, a crunchy and buttery croissant filled with creamy chicken salad. It was so nice that they toasted and warmed up the croissant on a cold rainy day. I liked the banana bread.
