Half of meatball , East Coast Hoagie 8" and World Famous Pastrami Sandwich 8"
Gina H.

Sandwiches are so good here! The vibe is really cute outdoors with the lights. We got half a bottle of Sauvignon blanc and ordered a small green salad and for the sandwiches we got pastrami, meatball and east coast hoagie all in 8". Loved the pastrami the best. Highly recommend this for a cute local date night or casual dinner. I think I want to try their pasta next time!

Roast Beef and Prosciutto Sandwich

I ordered this as takeout recently while in Long Beach, and Modica's delivered on a tasty stuffed sandwich I'd definitely get again. The sandwiches are packed to the brim with meat, cheese, and veggies. The roast beef especially has double to triple the amount I usually expect. Flavor overall is solid, though the roast beef leans just a bit salty! Can't speak to the service or ambiance since I had it to go!

Potato Salad (Vegetarian)

Cute little deli and employees were nice. Got pastrami, potato salad, and tuna sandwich. I wouldn't say the pastrami was "world famous", but it was delicious, potato salad was fresh made and tasty, and the tuna was refreshingly light and good. Nice outdoor dining space, too.

Meatloaf Sandwich

A local favorite for good reason. Came by with two friends to grab dinner and. let the rain subside. I checked out the meatloaf sub and it was perfect. The soft roll, the hot meatloaf topped with cheese and sauce. Yum. My friends had the lasagna (always good, he always gets that) and the pasta with mushrooms. Two of us purposely left room for the carrot cake which is fabulous with its cream cheese frosting. Not made in house but it's made locally and is to die for. Their chocolate cake also good!

Everything went well! This is a Friday Night "Clubbin" experience. Meet neighbors, listen to the band, try new goodies. Tuesday nights are "1/2 $ wine" on choice bottles. Not to mention the friends made here, from local to international. Just boogie in and everybody knows your name

Fantastic Greek Salad! Fresh, crunchy & yummy! Nice portion & friendly service. Highly recommend & can't wait to come back to try another dish!

This place is located in an area close to the beach. We ordered the club sandwich and gyro sandwich and they both tasted great. The club sandwich automatically came cut in half, so great for sharing. Excellent customer service. The staff were so friendly and quick. Dogs are welcome here. We verified with the employee before bringing them inside. There's seating inside and outside.

As I lay here in pain with a food baby in my belly in my hotel bed, I must share my experience that I just had at Modica's Deli. Let's jump in, despite my inability to even stand at this moment... Ambiance - You can dine indoors or outdoors. There's room for small and large groups, though the interior is smaller than the outdoor dining area. Food - I'm carrying a food baby, and it's Smokin Joe's! I was hesitant to get a pastrami sandwich that had marinara on it, but it works! I got the 8-inch which was more than enough food. I can't even imagine getting the 16-inch. I also got a piece of cake to-go and holy moly it was a huge slice! I couldn't even get through half of it before having to throw in the towel. The chocolate suicide cake is no joke. Delicious, but bring a few friends if you want to finish it. Service - The guy who I interacted with was very friendly and helpful. Everyone seemed friendly and it was a good vibe overall from the staff. Overall, this was a great, but extremely filling meal. I have no complaints other than I am bed-ridden and can't seem to awake from my food coma. Would highly recommend trying the Smokin Joe's, or one of their other tasty sandwiches! The chocolate cake is great too.

Pastrami w/ Provolone Cheese

I come here weekly for their sandwiches. I highly recommend the pastrami and the meatball-- if you are torn between the two, order the Smokin Joe! Their pasta isn't my favorite, but the sandwiches are solid and keep me coming back every week. Service is always fast and friendly. They have tables inside, but the ambiance and views from dining al fresco are hard to beat.

Nice little deli restaurant in downtown Long Beach; this place is a gem! I ordered the Lobster Ravioli and Pepperoni Pita Pizza with added mushroom. I was seated right next to the live music, they were wonderful! Everyone was laughing, dancing, the atmosphere felt like having family and friends over for dinner. The food was delicious and the waiter who served us was attentive! I'd 100% come visit again!

Chicken Parmesan Sandwich 8"

The sandwich was just okay, it was not seasoned and the breading was not crispy. The portion was a good amount. The employees are friendly and the place is inviting.

Despite being on a busy corner in downtown Long Beach, Modica's Deli beckons with the promise of delightful culinary experiences and an enchanting ambiance that feels like a whimsical escape from the everyday hustle and bustle. Having long anticipated our visit, my family and I arrived with hearts full of excitement, ready to indulge in an evening of new experiences and delectable flavors. As we entered the outdoor seating area, we were immediately captivated by the lush greenery that enveloped the space, creating a serene oasis that feels both intimate and inviting. The thoughtful decorations, with their delicate fairy lights twinkling like stars above, added a magical touch to our surroundings. It was the perfect setting for a date night or a cozy family dinner, where laughter and conversation could flow freely under the gentle embrace of nature. The atmosphere was further enhanced by the comforting presence of heater lamps that radiated warmth, ensuring that even as the sun dipped below the horizon, we remained enveloped in a cocoon of coziness. Shade umbrellas swayed gently overhead, casting playful shadows that danced across our table, inviting us to unwind and savor the moment. Our delightful server, Paola, was the epitome of attentive service. With her radiant smile and genuine warmth, she made us feel as if we were the only guests in the establishment. Paola's recommendations were spot-on, revealing her deep knowledge of the menu and her passion for the culinary arts. Her presence added an extra layer of charm to our evening, making our dining experience feel not just like a meal, but a cherished memory in the making. We ordered the Mediterranean dip, the vegetable lasagne, the chicken Parmesan pasta (bowtie), and the heart attack jack sandwich (16 inch). We got the Bundaberg guava soda and the Stubborn soda (black cherry, lemon blueberry açaí) from the soft drink machine. For dessert, we ordered the tiramisu to complete the meal; although rich and delicious, we wished it had more lady fingers in it to balance its sweetness. However, while the ambiance and service were nothing short of exceptional, the the sandwich-- failed to blow us away. Perhaps it was the lofty expectations set by the enchanting environment or the tantalizing descriptions that danced on the menu, but the sandwich we ordered fell short of the culinary magic we hoped to experience. It lacked the robust flavors and textures that one anticipates from a deli of such promise. While it was certainly edible, it felt like a missed opportunity. The sandwich tasted of prepackaged lunch meat, which isn't bad, but we expected something more fresh. Despite this minor disappointment, the overall experience at Modica's Deli was deeply fulfilling. The combination of a picturesque setting, attentive service, and delightful company allowed us to bask in the warmth of the moment. As we sipped our drinks and shared stories, the ambiance enveloped us, reminding us that sometimes, the magic of a meal is found not just in the food itself, but in the atmosphere and the people who share it with you. In conclusion, Modica's Deli is a captivating destination that deserves a place on your culinary list. While the sandwich may have faltered, the delightful service and enchanting environment more than compensated, creating a memorable evening that will linger in our hearts. We left with smiles on our faces, already dreaming of our next visit, when perhaps we might discover the sandwich of our dreams amidst the romantic charm of this lovely deli. We are looking forward to our next PASTA dishes with Modica's.

We ordered a couple chopped cheeses, fries, onion rings, and chicken nuggets for the little one. Everything was delicious. The crispiness of all the fries foods were spot on. The sandwich had a few positives: good amount of beef, tender meat, cheese melted in well and the bread was genuinely great. Soft, chewy, flavorful and easily the best thing here. Everything after that started falling apart. The sandwich was rich and oily but didn't have enough seasoning, acidity or heat to balance it. There were faint hints of cumin and the salt level was fine, but overall it tasted like it was trying to coast on grease. The lettuce and tomato added nothing, and even the cilantro sauce couldn't cut through the oily aftertaste. If you do try it, add onions, pickles and jalapeños because the base sandwich badly needs backup. The fries looked good, then delivered absolutely nothing. Barely seasoned, smaller portion than expected and somehow had a weird burnt aftertaste despite looking normal. That takes effort. Service was the real disaster. The person helping me acted annoyed, like customers were an unfortunate side effect of running a restaurant. The menu board shows combo pricing for some items, like burgers, but not sandwiches, so the chopped cheese combo pricing was unclear. The drink situation was ridiculous. The board says $2.99 for a 24 oz drink and the soda machine was right there, but I was handed a 12 oz can with no heads-up that the machine wasn't available. That's not a substitute. Full size promise for a half-size reality. For $22.03 total, that made the whole combo feel even worse value-wise. Food took almost 30 minutes and it felt like my order sat around until it was convenient to bag it. I only got it when another customer who ordered after me was being helped. Add the flies hanging around the napkins and surfaces and this started feeling less like lunch and more like a health inspection waiting to happen. Parking is rough too since it's on a narrow, busy intersection, though there is paid parking across the street. Overall, the bread was great and the sandwich had potential, but potential doesn't carry bad service, bland fries, unclear pricing, a drink downgrade, a long wait and flies. If the food was amazing, maybe some of this could be overlooked. Nah, too many atrocities happening.

After a quick perusal, I thought the Peruvian Steak sandwich best whet my appetite. Peruvian Steak sandwich- Spicy aji amarillo marinated steak with Oaxacan cheese, herb aioli, red onions, tomatoes, shredded romaine on a toasted potato roll. I quite liked this. Tender steak, with fatty cheese. The vegetables provided contrast & texture. For my purchase, I went with a side of Southern Potato Salad. It was good, but similar to grocery deli potato salad. In hindsight, I should've purchased avocado added to my Peruvian Steak sandwich. Service was excellent. All hands were on deck, as Mendocino Farms opened only a few days prior. Each employee had a name badge, specifying their name & which entree was their favorite, helping indecisive customers choose what to get. Plenty of seating indoors & al fresco. Parking is at LBX, with Mendocino Farms being across Georgia's and facing the Hangar at LBX. I found the Peruvian Steak sandwich delicious, yet meager in quantity, considering the regular price. It's more of a substantial snack, than a full meal, in my case. However, it's great to have another quality food option in the area, and I look forward to coming back & exploring the rest of menu.
